Groups may or may not appreciate a stranger intruding on their conversation, because just like in real life sometimes people just want to hang out with their friends. You aren't owed anything just because you zoned into the D, so it's important to understand the social environment you're going into and how to make it work for you. The more you think of it like it were a real place, the more you'll get out of it.
QFT. Like in a real club, make sure you look okay (write a bio for your character that describes them and the sort of RP you'd like), look around (read other people's bios) and if you see someone who seems interesting, walk up and say hi (walk up and say "hi").

Eh, didn't suck so much for me - if not for the gating, I would have had a choice on Strike Pack launch day to either run 4 STFs in a row on my main, burn out and spend a few months hating the game, or spend every moment logged in with the knowledge that I could have had my Very Rare by now but I don't because I'm *weak*, and spend a few months hating the game.

Now I have my two Rares, one Notice, and Uncommon on my main, and I know I'm one LGTF and next week's WTF away from my Very Rare. Every moment is spent in pleasant anticipation and I love the game.

I think I read that manga.
  5. I'm gonna make sting operations. Start a trial account, roll a character, use the "Help me!" prompt, and if anyone gives me purposefully bad info, /petition them to the GMs.
  6. You can break them down into Incarnate Shards, but at a net loss.

  8. Think of it like this. "Okay, you hate TFs, but *how much* do you hate TFs? Do you hate TFs so much that you'd rather spend weeks or months gathering 88 Shards and 100 mil Inf than running *one* specific TF in one specific week? Okay then, fair enough. Have your Notice."

Now please, devs, make the inf cost more than just a token amount. We need more inf sinks in this game. 50s can earn inf hand over fist these days, and we have very little to actually spend it on.
This will inevitably cause people to complain they are forced, FORCED I TELL YOU, to resort to RMT to get their Incarnate powers.

Not saying it shouldn't be done, just pointing out the obvious.
  10. My main's a Storm Defender, specced for support. I also have an Empath that I specifically Alpha-unlocked to get on Incarnate teams. Staying on the backlines and supporting my allies is a playstyle I love, and if it makes it easier for my characters to get on PuG teams, so much the better.

At a guess, it's an option for the "animal torso" - so you can't have the T-shirt and *not* have the stripes.

  13. He was identified as Joe, the Longbow Eagle in a MA arc by the guy who then went on to be hired by Paragon Studios and become Dr. Aeon. So it's almost half-canon.

Every time we've asked the current artists about four-legged creatures, we were told that "animation rigs for quadrupeds don't exist in the game, we'd have to code one up from scratch".

So basically, if you were remembering correctly, it would mean that the original devteam made up a quadruped animation rig, used it for a single type of NPC, and then removed both the NPC type *and* the animation rig from the code completely. Given what we know about the game's development process, that would be a *colossal* waste of development time and effort, both of which they were very short on.

Also, I've asked someone who played since the pre-order beta, and he was positive there were never cows in Perez.

I'll be charitable and assume you're misremembering.

Yes! I helped my SG run another STF at +2 (which was +1 to me). And then we ran an ITF. Lots of Shards, lots of Inf (I'm 10 million away from my last Inf badge!).

    50 + 1 question

There's really no place in the interface where you can see your own (+1). Go to Peregrine Island and check if the level 50 minions con blue, that's how you'll know it's working.

Did another where the Fire/Kin somehow managed to work with the Tank and keep LR occupied until we had the towers down.
We had a Kinetics/, a Storm/ and a /Storm popping out to buff the Tank occasionally. Mostly we had quite a lot of stacked Leadership and the ability to take down hard targets fast, so we could take down the red tower before the Tank ran out of oranges.
  19. Since any character can go up against godlike beings in the 45-50 range, it makes no sense within the game to play a character who doesn't have at least the *potential* to challenge godlike beings with seven of their friends. (Unless you freeze their XP gain at some low level, but that's really going out of your way to play an under-powered concept.)

My Incarnate level 50s are: 1) Ones that are badge collectors, to go after the assorted badges involved in the system, 2) Ones that are good team support characters, so they can help out on Incarnate Trials.
  20. Once again, Silver Gale gets the shiny on Day 1.

PuG'd the STF with a Grav/Storm controller, a Tank, a Scrapper, a Kinetics Defender, two SoAs and a Stalker. We tried for Master's, but had 11 deaths in the end (one on Silver Mantis, one on Ghost Widow, rest on Recluse). Still, with all the Leadership going around, we were Defense-capped the whole way and pouring out the damage on hard targets.

I kind of got caught unprepared, I meant to run a Mothership Raid and a Cathedral of Pain at some point, but I kept thinking "Eh, the Strike Pack's probably a ways off, I have plenty of time". So of course I had no Penumbra of Rularuu and no Gr'ai Matter, and only 93 Vanguard Merits.

I wanted to try and run Borea missions, but the first one game me three Vanguard Merits total, so I just spent 8 shards on both components.

Need another three weeks for the Very Rare, but it's completely doable. I hope the CoP is the WTF at some point.

Only if he says that again right after he's captured, and once more after Recluse is beaten.

Even for those of us who can and do run TFs frequently, an alternate path would be nice because it would give us more choices in how to work on our Alpha boosts. Right now, I have a choice between re-running the same TF on every character I want a Rare boost on, or doing other things and not getting any closer to the third and fourth tiers. Boredom or no rewards: not a fun choice to make.

Fix'd. The bonus merits and Notice are granted before the table pops up (or about at the same moment).

Every time I post something like "It costs me 50 million to buy a recipe and 10 million to buy the salvage, that's like 150 million just for one IO!" I get twenty people jumping all over me saying horrible mean things like "Um, 50 + 10 = 150? Really?" or "You might want to check your math there" or "here, you can borrow my calculator".
