Last night, for the first time since i12, we had balanced kickball matches.
People showed up not only on offensive roles, but also in no shortage of disruption and support.
For the first time in a while I saw scores that looked like 14-3 and 17-6, rather than crap like 26-22. These scores say that team coordination is making a come back, and random uncoordinated damage spams may soon be a thing of the past.
We are making real progress here for the first time in a while. Keep it up. I advise anyone who has even the slightest interest in arena PvP to come to Freedom and participate. -

Quote:Dexington is a beast.Whoever was bringing that 5 second stun in the last KB match, I love you and you need to come back and play more.
I support Silit in this push, more action now please.
Once we establish a player base we can start looking at the possibility of set matches in addition to the random KBs. Personally I think a good goal would be to get 6v6s going.
Why 6v6? Not just because of the lower population - but also because of the reduced effectiveness of disruption and resistance buffs. 8v8 could be a bit hectic, that's not to say that we shouldn't plan on doing them, though.
Thoughts? -
Quote:That's exactly why we need more dedicated disruption and support.Well even at that, there aren't a lot of tollers can disrupt high end builds, pump out dmg, and survive a 6 man spike. My troller is dedicated to doing just that and im already with u guys. So I'd ask for tanks, scrappers, and rads on hero side if your looking to round off the edges (cept for the rad, those 2 are quite easy to play moderately well). And like you said, With the "good" players gone, You're not gonna find those real disruption players anymore when players can just say "hey if i make a dmg toon, I can own on a team, look like the MVP, and still pwn bishes in duels"
The simple fact is: 1 healer + 6 blasters + 1 cold is not an efficient team by any stretch.
We need people to step up and start playing emps, bubblers, TAs, and even kins (yes, that's right, kins).
I am currently in the process of rolling a Grav/FF. I have been encouraging others to roll Grav/FFs, Grav/TAs, Grav/Colds, and Grav/Kins... among other things. -
Quote:Hey, Az! Good to see that you are still around.Best of luck, Silit! After putting in two years time in with the PvPEC promoting PvP and then watching the devs chop that tree down, I'm glad someone else has the gumption to try to rez the sport!
As for times, matches seem to go down in the evenings - as early 7pm est to 2am est and even later (depending on when people are on/decide to do matches). KBs are pretty easy to get started on just about any evening. -

Quote:While that may be the case in zone, arena is slightly different. There is an overwhelming number of offense - blasters/doms (mainly blasters). Support is existent but we need more dedicated support players. Disruption in the form of controllers is lacking.Heroside is mostly Tankers and Scrappers with the occasional Blaster or support, and redside seems a bit more balanced - not many Brutes, some Stalkers, and a decent amount of Doms and Corrs.

Freedom server consistently has large KB matches hosted by myself and members of the Unsupressed SG. 8v8s are a fairly common sight. It's no i12, but it's the basis of building a new PvP community.
As the population grows we can start doing touneys and maybe even leagues.
Matches are run with Heal Decay and Travel Suppression turned off. Anyone is welcome to participate, regardless of PvP experience/skill.
Support/Disruption players needed most.
Transfer to freedom, it will be worth it. -

Personally, I think we should run caves. Up til' about i8 it was a legit 8v8 map. I think the many rooms would actually contribute to the atmosphere of level 2 PvP. It would be like an adventure! Eden is a bit much, though.
Do you want player names or player globals for the roster?

Point is, there are some good players out there, but not many. Only like 20% of the ones mentioned in this thread were even considered "decent" pre-i13. -
You guys are still arguing about this? It's been like a week. Chiiiiiiiiiiill, son.
Seriously, you guys aren't even talking about the benefits of your ideas... you are just taking shots at each other.
That sexy Doritos guy said it best, I think. -
To the OP or anyone who made a serious post in this thread:
Obviously someone who's experience comes from PvPing in PvP zones would have a different Idea of "best" or even of "PvP" than someone who played in the arena.
There isn't and never was a "Best PvPer". There were good PvPers, but never "bests". As far as "good PvPers" go, few of the people who were considered good or even decent in i12 and back still play this game or PvP in it.
I know Aura and J. Wildfire recently reactivated their accounts. Elite's accounts are also active, and there are a few others out there who were actually considered "good" that still play or play currently. I just reactivated myself, but I'm terrible.
The problem isn't that there is a lack of good PvPers. The problem is that there is a lack of good PvP. -
Kifflom AKA MF TOxtheeZy should come back and start and SG with Aura and I.

The Virtuous Vanguard is ready to shield you with the impenetrable armor of justice!

Johnny Wildfire and Aura NRGFX now have active accounts. Exit and Peril X still play, too.

Reputation never has been a measure of skill in this game - even when this game was good it was always "lol rep".

Quote:As I said - Heal Decay on allows kills only because competence is surpressed. This is why i play with TS off but HD on. It's still fun and things with lesser skills die. If and when they ever give the option to turn off free pvp resistance, HD can then be turned off.
As for MW2: if I pick up a 360 then yeah. IDK what my GT will be, but I'll post it somewhere. -
I haven't played it in about a week, never been one for the grinding thing. I'm most likely going to play a mix of casual FPS and tetris.

Detective Silit, reporting as ordered.
The changes to TP foe were pretty uneccessary. Reason being: The duration of the "unaffectablilty" effect of the power is too short to prevent droning - infact, all it does is make TPing people in trip mines harder to do. Note, that when I say harder, I do not mean more skill demanding - I mean more of a hassle.
Before i13 - before the Virtuous Vanguard was called the Virtuous Vanguard - our primary means of killing people involved TPing them into areas laced with Trip Mines, debuffs, and Warshades. When we came back in i13 and formed the Virtuous Vanguard we were forced to KB our targets just before they were teleported, making them unable to leave the area laced with Trip Mines, debuffs, and Warshades before their "unaffectability" wore off.
Bottom line: The only things the changes to TP foe did were make Devices blasters and bad MMs less effective, and make griefing PvP zones slightly more of a hassle. Have a Kin ID you if you don't want to be TPed. It's not hard.
