Back on topic for this thread: Team PvP questions
Why is WARE pooping on everyone? -
Quote:Just get some reliable people together and have some way of communicating with them outside of CoH. Guildportal is a good place to start, and a vent/mumble server can be nice too - although you can probably just hang out on one of the more public ones in your team's infancy.
How does one go about starting a team?
Quote:When does a new round usually begin, as I know this one has started.
Quote:What are some of the team makeups being used currently? (When i did league there were psy blasters, a rad or TA, sometimes tanks, and always two emps. I'm guessing it will be 2x Ill/emps + 6 something else)
Earth/fires are very viable, and while I still encourage other teams to try them, they are very unforgiving. You can't just fire late on the spike, stay on a person for 10 seconds, and eventually run them out of greens like you can with psi/ems. There is no follow up, and if you're late at all, you probably missed the spike entirely. All it takes is one Dom to be off point and it's near impossible to kill anything.
Quote:Why is TK banned? Is it bugged still on all ATs? -
WARE.gov vs Chicken Nuggets
WARE wins 85-0
WARE wins 44-0
WARE wins 25-3
GGs. -
Not saying go for a stalemate, but if you have enough survivability, you can try to wear a regen down and maybe kill it over the course of 10 minutes.
-
A good regen will never die in a 1v1. Your best bet is to bring something that can't die to a regen (ie any squishy with a self heal) and the ability to keep the regen playing defensively (thermal, cold).

Quote:I don't think anyone has attempted or is planning to attempt to unseat you from your position as league admin. Seriously, I'm not even trying to be crass when I say I have no idea how that got thrown in to the mix.I'm not sure how I've lost my relativity, or relevance, considering I'm still in charge of this league and that won't change no matter how hard you try. Chances are you wouldn't even be here as WARE in the first place if this league was never started, and this league only started because I took the initiative to do it when everybody else said it would never get off the ground and the most we would get was 4 teams or something.
Anyways, yeah we have Swag, but we don't control him and he definitely doesn't speak on behalf of the team and our general attitude. If that's what you think, that's fine, I don't really care. As much as you guys like to think that being upfront about talking trash makes you special or something, it doesn't. It comes off as aggression to me most of the time, really almost seems like a matter of social deficiency for some of you. People who don't trash talk as much don't do it because they just don't get out of it what you guys do, most people only talk **** defensively.
Like I said from the get-go, people can talk **** there's nothing I can do about it, there's no sportsmanship or conduct rule in place, because I thought that this league would become less of a pissing contest than it has, but I still stand by my original statement, so if you really want to waste your time filling up this thread with useless drama, personal attacks and pointless **** talk, be my guest.
The swag comment was obviously a joke too, since no one in their right mind takes that dude seriously. Just like no one in their right mind should ever take anything Hot posts seriously.
We've had like, what? Two people engage in forum trash talk? Maybe another three have made sarcastic comments in and out of matches?
Unless you actually count the sheer length of some forum posts, collectively, we've definitely talked considerably less **** than Exile, probably a little less than Honey Badgers, and maybe (maybe) less than FAP. Shenanigans talks **** to their own players and avoids practicing everyone, so they don't really count... so I guess we've talked more **** than Casual Champions and Chicken Nuggets.
How evil of us. -

Quote:He was in FoL, ***, Mediocre and TPM. In all honestly, (on freedom and test, at least) he was ALWAYS known for being a duelist, rather than a team player. Spiner and Dragon were "Those rad/psis from protector who kept beating everyone". As someone who played with Spiner more than anyone else after he left Protector, I think it's a fair statement that he never really found his niche in the team environment until he hopped on an Emp.Is he considered the best in the game? I have no idea.
As far as test teams, he was in the first 10MoP and Blacklisted. I don't remember if he had been in HellRaisers when they were fighting on test. I don't know what he did subsequent to Blacklisted, I left the game for a while.
Quote:The mission statement, certainly misleading in the case of Spiner. But beyond that look at what it says concerning Spiner and Silit--scrappers from Protector. That's who they were. Are they playing scrappers in league matches? No? So there goes you're 100% accuracy crap. It's a false-self-deprecating joke, which is how it comes across.
Can't we all just get along? -
Quote:Maybe this will help:Reading this thread makes me miss the days when Tribute was top dog both in terms of PvP and **** talking.
PvP Community: LISTEN, I'M THE BEST SONIC DEFENDER IN COH, YOU'RE GOING TO LOSE, WARE! (make me so mad right now)
Ware.gov: nowai i got regin -
Quote:Correct. We are indeed the quickly thrown together team of players who haven't played in months-years, and everyone else is horribly bad. It's hilarious how you guys are railing on other people as horribly bad one moment, then painting yourselves as the rusty little team that could in the next breath lol.
I like how we make mention of coming back, and people say we're mediocre/over-rated/going to lose to them/worse than Infamous (lol).
Then we start doing what our name implies (****** everyone), and we're suddenly the stacked team that enjoys destroying everyone's fun.
We don't post "secret rosters".
We don't treat our "draftees" any differently than our core.
We don't have cliques within our team secretly hating each other.
We don't avoid practicing with teams we don't want to lose to.
We don't pretend to be anyone's friend, then **** talk them while we're on mumble.
While I've come to be cordial and honest with most people I talk to online, my self-proclaimed honesty will demand that I say straight up:
We don't care about civility. We are barbaric trolls. We really are. We talk loads of **** - zealously, and without relent - often (most often) for no reason at all.
None of us are denying that.
Moving on. -
While this is still utterly pointless, I don't see how Exile and Shenanigans would qualify as Kickballers/Zoners... or rusty. If anyone can pull the rusty card, it's us, given that we pieced together a team of players - most of whom hadn't played in over a year- and just as spontaneously signed them up for a league.
While I'm not fond of several members of exile, I certainly respect them as a TEAM - because they really are a team. And while Shenanigans goes on sprees of doing ANYTHING in their power to avoid practicing against us, I understand that pretty much everyone on their roster has had some measure of success in recent PvP events. -
-
Not that I want to get involved in the back and forth part of this thread, but, just as a quick fact check:
Phase/Hiber have been a requirement for Team Arena PvP since it existed - at one point, blasters took both.
No one regarded as "good" ever called for a nerf of TP because of zoners using it to escape... or at all for that matter. -
This whole debate is pointless for the reason that Dex stated. Vex probably has a dope build he could give you.

Quote:You're right that my comments regarding movement on stalkers were assumptions at best. I find however, that there are very few one-trick ponies in the realm of CoH PvP. Good players generally could play anything, whether they actually did play it or not.
Silit,
How did you watches all of Max's movment as stalker? Stalkers and blasters play absolutely nothing alike. As I can recall arena cam's don't have + perc and to my knowledge you didnt stand over Max's or Unholys shoulder so you can at best give an educated opinon based on how they played other classes.
As someone who has played with both players in other offensive capacities, I've seen their lock speeds/movement - it seems strange that a player would have problems locking on a stalker when they lock faster than almost anyone I've ever played with on a blaster.
I don't think any dream team where all classes are playable would involve a stalker anyway. And the whole dream-team debacle is a pointless one anyway, as most of the ones posted are either blatant sarcasm or people picking players based on their feelings for the players.
My post-i13 dream team is, and probably will remain WARE.gov. The only things we're missing are HoJ and Z... and maybe a more active Vex.
Even if it wasn't my "Dream team" I'd still love playing with them all, because that's why I do - and that's all that matters. -
Um, they would die? Shouldn't the winning team be the more coordinated one? With better players? That does make sense, right?
-
I have a hard time believing that Unholy, a player with exponentially better movement than MaX, and a player who locked on targets infinitely faster than MaX, would somehow be less good at playing a stalker.
I don't even dislike MaX, but let's be real.
Also, that one SG from Guardian, Claw of the Dragon, took a fat dump on Renegades, so screenshots are irrelevant. -
Quote:All of the teams in the above screenshots were "premades" - each with at least two Empathy controllers/defenders. If any one of those teams (winning or losing in the posted screenshots) entered a PvP zone, they'd be camping the other side's base pretty quickly.A good premade will destroy the casual every time. That isn't news.
...
Seeing screenshots of your premades are meaningless.
Quote:i13 was designed to make pvp more accessible to the casual ... and that is exactly what it did.
How exactly is it more accessible?
Quote:How about you take your premade (with heals) and take it against a team of completely random pvpers of completely random ATs. Choose an open map, turn off both TS and HD and if they fare well, you will have proven your point.
i13 doesn't do that. It certainly attempts to, which is why we despise it, but it fails completely at even its intended purpose. -
More instances of various post-i13 teams getting no shortage of kills on larger maps when TS and HD are turned off. Thanks to March for providing the Screenies.
u2bg vs BoBC: Eden
u2bg vs EP: Eden (against a taunt-bot heavy lineup, still able to get kills)
u2bg vs PoWT: Striga (NOTE THAT THE KIN IS ACTUALLY VIABLE WITHOUT TS AND HD!!!)
u2bg vs dUmb: Eden (again, against a taunt-bot heavy lineup)
u2bg vs PoWT: Eden (Note that both teams are able to score kills without issue, while each running totally different lineups)
WARE.gov vs Shenanigans: Eden (even with short ranged attacks like blaze, it's still more than possible)
But these all must be fake or something, because it's impossible to die if two healers are on your team and HD and TS are off. -
-
WAREwolf.gov vs Exile
20-5
20-0
18-5
WARE.gov takes all three. -
-
A big misconception seems to be the "Zone rules" vs "Arena rules" argument, where people imply that there are two crowds of PvPers who are each good at what they do.
Every time we hop into a PvP zone, suddenly our side (heroes/villains) is camping the other side's base. It's not hard. Travel suppression and HD make it really annoying, but even in i12 I don't remember it being THAT easy to farm all of the zoners.
We just laugh on mumble about how easy it is to kill people with TS and HD, while pooping on the entire zone. Then we laugh more about how bad people are at chasing us even with TS on.
There's no "Zone PvP community vs Arena community" feud. It's been a time proven fact that regardless of rules, WARE.gov is better than anyone else.
TS and HD are terrible.
More arena maps, please.
