Quote:It's a game-wide event that takes place on freedom, because freedom is the new accepted 'PvP Server'. It's also much more accessible than the test server.I did read the whole thing. And advertising a Freedom event on protector boards and tryign to get people to xfer is still phale whale.
why don't YOU transfer here and help revitalize PvP ?
(i am cranky today) =P

I'm sure we will find a way to manage.

Quote:The no DR option makes it near impossible to get kills, as most targets will have capped resistances to all damage, and defender debuffs are no longer unresisted. Double AS is really the only practical way to get kills in DR-off team matches. This doesn't have anything to do with the current league, but your sig made me curious. Since you can set the Arena to not have diminishing returns and heal decay, why is the test PvP ladder still dead?
That's why DR will be ON for this league. Travel Suppression and Heal Decay will be OFF. -
There are a total of two things that are fun to play in RV.
1: An SS tank, with the original animations, and preferably really tall. Every time I kill someone by throwing a rock at them I am overwhelmed with feelings of accomplishment. Not even having to be anywhere near my target to start winding up a KNOCKOUT BLOW ATTACK is equally euphoric.
2. Shrakzooka. Oh, and, I know some people think they know... but they don't. There are sharks, and there are shraks - and most people who think they can shrak are probably delusional, and bad, and biters who should go bite more pillows and less of our material. Either way, shrakzooka cannon all day. Real talk. -
Quote:There is a difference between:no.
no.
no.
in i12, you did that, past the start time and you forfeited. (9:15 for a 9pm match).
sadly, a lot of the teams didn't have the balls required to say "start the match or you forfeit".
i still believe you should be able to shuffle around your lineup as much as you want prior to that specific point in time where if you don't have a full team, you forfeit and that's the end of it.
1. Understanding the dynamics of the game and using one's understanding to make counter lineups.
2. Not joining the match with your lineup until the last possible minute in-order to ensure that your team's lineup is the scissors to the other team's paper.
There are HUGE differences between now and the i12 hero ladder.
One: Lineups are less established - people aren't prone to have standard lineups yet.
Two: The skill margin is no longer that big. Lineups will matter more. In i12 hero disruption teams should have beaten hero jump teams. That didn't stop better SGs from running Jump lineups against less-good SGs' disruption lineups, and mopping the floor with them. People didn't get serious about lineup changes because they didn't need to care. The game doesn't work that way anymore.
TPM probably could have beaten any SG on the i12 hero ladder if we ran Energy/Energy blasters instead of Fire/ems. I doubt we could get away with something like that now. -
Quote:The PvPEC didn't. I did. So any blame can go strait to meSince that process always has the potential to be a bit lengthy, the PvPEC decided to eliminate it in favor of a hidden line-up submission.
I don't really consider lineup changes to be a process either, and switching lineups is much different than it was back in i12.
For example: The classic "Dumb is bringing storms, get two kins" is much different from "Yo, they brought stalkers, let's get forts"... which is soon to be followed by "Yo, they brought forts, get off of your stalkers!"... to be followed by "Yo, they don't have stalkers, get off your forts!" and so on, until someone finally stops switching. -
Everyone is encouraged to join, regardless of server affiliation :P

Quote:You are cheating on your server by not representing it on Freedom6v6 is too many people for my tastes, and I really don't want to cheat on my server by moving someone off of it.
Oh, 6v6+ is where it's at. Trust me. Much more skill/coordination involved in matches of that size. -
The captains (each team has two) are leaders of both teams, but on the D8 team. Any two members of the D8 team can play for the d6 team.
-
Well. It boils down to ladder format vs league format. Many players, myself included, wouldn't be happy being drafted and unable to play with the team I want to play with. So the option to enter a roster was an important implementation.
Of course, not everyone is going to captain/be asked to join/know enough people to be on an entered roster. Players that fit that description should still be able to play, regardless of experience and skill. Thus the draft was implemented.
As for 8v8 vs 6v6, we figured that less people would be involved in draft picks than in roster entry. As said in the rules, it's possible that we may increase the size of D6 matches pending on how many players are left in the draft pool when rosters are posted.
It's widely accepted that the 8v8 format allows for more tactical/dynamical employment than a 6v6. In a 6v6 you have less room for dedicated components to a lineup, so lineups are often much more simple and clean-cut. -

We can't ban everything. Let's focus on bugged powers right now so that we know what to consider when captains meet and discuss the bans.

Quote:I would transfer. The PvP scene over there is much more active, and I don't know that you'd have time to roll one, unless you have the resources to get one arena-ready in under a month.Sounds like something that could be fun. However i'd probably be more inclined to roll a new toon on freedom than transfer.
My home server is actually Protector. I played on Protector starting back in i2. Trust me, the transfer is worth while - and so is this event. The season will last for over two months. Whether you are a hardcore PvPer, or just someone who wants to have some fun, this event will cater to you.
