I tried to skip by Knives missions as well... not dangerous, just really annoying.
I didn't like the fact that the biggest challenge the Knives were presenting me could be easily avoided if my character had just stopped off and bought a broom on my way to the mission. -
Short answer: Inherent Fitness.
Now that everybody gets the fitness pool without using any power selections, every build has 3 more power picks. Powers that were easily skipped before are a little bit more appealing these days, that's my guess anyhow. -
Great replies,
Thanks guys!
Since I've not given Shield a fair shake before, I think I'll go that route and see how it goes.
I really appreciate the input! -
Hi Folks
I had a WP/WM Tank that I've decided to re-roll as a Brute because I want a bit more SMASH.
I'm a Scrapper lover who is now giving Brutes a whirl since I can bring them blueside.
Shield was not available at the time when I made him back in the day.
It actually suits the character concept for him to be a little bit less survivable (he's a bit of an overweight, natural-type bruiser.)
I still want to be able to survive... and I'm pretty set on having Warmace as my primary for concept.
I'd like a somewhat minimal effect secondary (which is why I chose WP originally).
I plan to use IOs but not Purples or PVPs - I IO out too many toons to be spending primo inf on each of them.
He's not going to be a farmer or PVP toon - regular content, TFs.
I am trying to decide if WP is really the secondary I want.
My other choices would be:
/SR (I love my SR scraps but never tried it on a brute)
/SD (I've never really tried it... kind of doesn't suit the character but I could live with him carrying a sewer lid perhaps)
/INV (I have an INV tank and he's nigh unkillable, but will I be as happy with an Inv Brute?)
/FIRE (Last resort... having character enveloped in flames doesn't really work... but I could maybe convince myself if I really had to)
/EA (I... know nothing of this set)
I have a SS/Elec 50, and I'm running a Claws/DA brute right now so I didn't include those as options.
Which of these would pair best with WM?
I know I'd be happy with most any of them and it's a bit of a personal choice...
but I'm having trouble deciding... and maybe some insight from the kind people of the boards (and those of you who are not-so-kind lol) will give me some inspiration or get me to think about it in a different light. It seems like WP and SR are the front-runners, but a strong (and pretty) enough argument could perhaps convince me otherwise.
Thanks gang!

I don't think you need it if you're that close to the caps.
I respecced out of it LONG ago now and I do not miss it.
The thing I miss most is the disco-ball effects it bestowed upon me
The crash at the end is annoying
(i have terrible short-term memory and would often forget i was about to completely detoggle)
and you can be almost as survivable without it
unless you're really running into a lot of non-S/L damage.
I found that when I did have it, by the time I realized I wanted to use it,
I was in deep trouble anyhow and a faceplant was likely inevitable.
Some people likely take it and love it... and it certainly has it's uses.
For me, I live (and thrive) without it. If I'm really worried about something (Lord Recluse)
I'll pop a few orange inspirations instead.
It sounds like you already have it and are thinking about dropping it...
I asked myself the following and answered 'not very often':
How often do you use it? How often is it totally saving your bacon?
mmmmm bacon. -
I was wondering the same thing, but then realized I had created a Spiritual boost
but I never went to the 'Equip' tab to actually equip it
Perhaps me sharing my 'Duh' moment will help someone else.
Or at least make you feel smarter than me -
Thanks gang
I really appreciate the input - I'm pretty new to MIDS and I knew there
had to be a better way, which is why I thought I'd check here.
I will take a look at these builds and see what works best for me!
Quick question about Caltrops - I never really used them before...
putting damage procs in there is a decent way of slotting them?
I assume they do enough slow on their own and are not worth slotting for damage...
You guys seemed to use the same slotting I did, (I see TarrantM used a purple knockdown proc also)
but maybe you overlooked that power, so I thought I'd check.
Thanks again!

Here's my build...
Is there a more efficient way of getting there?
Have I gimped anything in my attempt to soft-cap all 3 positional defenses?
I'm sure there is something I'm missing, and a few more sets of eyes might help
Thanks in advance for the advice (Don't be scared to tell me Ive got it all wrong)

Awesome!
Exactly the kind of info I am after and you make some great points.
I really should have thought more about it... I just sort of winged it.
I should have specified - NOT really attached to any of my patron picks, or any of my power picks really...
I haven't tried Dark Armor before and I was conflicted about which powers to skip...
The way I play, Soul Transfer is probably the wiser choice
Also willing to go without Superspeed (although i see that's where you're getting the -KB from),
I find Ninja Run fast enough most of the time. -
Hey Gang!
Hoping for a little bit of build advice here
I've never run a Dark Armor past level 20 or so, and not since the advent of IOs
I aimed for defense mostly, with some recharge and regen thrown in...
should I be focusing more on S/L defense and trying to cap that? (I spread my defense around a bit)
I'm sure there is room for improvement, please tell me what you think?
(I try to avoid Purples... I'm too lazy to chase those down (yet))
(Also first time using Mid's so I hope I am posting this properly...)

I haven't read the whole thread yet so I apologize if my idea has been mentioned...
I would like to see a 'Random Activation' option for the powers that have more than one animation.
This way when you activate the power, it randomly chooses one of the animations allowed for that power. It could alternate, or be truly random... either way it would make it seem like your character has more moves, and you aren't forced to pick between animations that look equally cool -
Thanks for the info Telperion!
And since I can't find any of those procs in that build
I guess Santorican thinks I should spend a billion inf instead of using what I have in my base... hehe - at least gives me an idea what i can aim for someday -
I have a couple of these -dam resist proc enhancements sitting in my base, and
am currently working on a Rad blaster...
What power would you slot them in, if any?
I am currently leaning towards at least one in NB since i fire it off so often...
but would like to hear a few opinions before i decide.
How would this proc work on say Irradiation, being a PBAOE and DoT attack?
I should know the answer to that one... my search fu is taking a nap. sorry. -
This thread by Call_Me_Awesome has been very helpful to me with my Invuln tank build.
Although it does include using the fighting pool...
It's still worth checking out.
