  1. See what I mean.

Take knockback powers and get caught up in the middle of this argument.

No power or powerset is worth getting in the middle of this epic ....storm.

This inherently makes the anti-knockback argument stronger. If you take no knockback powers or a few situational ones, you never have this argument. If you do take energy or storm you are going to have this every day of the characters life if you pug, since 1 or 2 out of 8 will have an opinion on this.

So I looked at my powers and they ALL caused knockback lol.
I couldnt help him more than throwing my apprentice charm and using sands of mu. I felt pretty useless.

So while the blaster is fun to play, I dont want to play her anymore because I dont want to hear "no KB" for the next 39 levels and people not wanting to team with me because of knockback
Well Im going to put my opinion in on this.

I personally dont like knockback, scattering mobs annoy me, but truthfully this is irrellevant, so is each individuals opinion.

What really matters here, is in general more people dislike it than like it. If you take an energy blaster expect to be told to stop, kicked, have people leave team, etc.

This does NOT make them a poor player or a good player, it just means their opinion differs from yours. The two sides of this argument are NEVER going to reach an agreement, the devs are extremely unlikely to change anything at this point.

So if you choose to play a knockback set, just get used to all the stuff that comes along with it. To me, energy and knockback powers are not good enough to be worth dealing with all this.

I never said AE should be as good as the best powerleveling boards.

What I am saying is why should a mission with custom mobs be harder and worth less than a standard news/radio mission.

If you want to maximize your rewards, play ticket farms or go play dev content. It really is that simple.

Dinging the author because you didn't get "phat lewtz" is, at it's kindest, retarded.
Just for the record, im not comparing AE to the best farm maps. I dont want farming or farm maps. I just want it equal or close to equal to news/radio missions as far as rewards.

Right now its poorer than the average leveling method, im not saying it needs to be best, but it needs to be better than it is.
  5. Yes but you choose to put them in there knowing they are bad rewards.

We can judge by whatever criteria we see fit.

And poor rewards is a valid reason for a low score, and no you cant differentiate custome enemies from custom packing of standard mobs.

Also if designers get pissed they are getting bad scores for poor rewards it only adds to the people yelling at the devs to fix it.
  6. No Im not saying it didnt need reduction.
And yes, I still see people doing council ticket farms.

And no I rarely see anyone do stories because of the poor rewards if they put custom mobs in, and who wants to tell a story with standard mobs, some do, but most dont.

I said this very clearly, FIX custom mobs experiance.

Honestly dont you get tired of doing the same damn news/radio missions over and over and over and over and over and over and over. But its all teams will do because its the best reward for leveling in the game at the moment.
  7. Yes I did, probably the biggest and most in need of fixing is Custom mobs being worth 75% experiance.

Its not if it aint best its broken, if its not acceptable to the majority of the games population its broken.

If all MA missions gave no experaince, no inf, no tickets you would agree its broken?

If you agree with that on principle, we are just discussing whether 75% or 100% is more palatable.
  8. I dont want it removed, just fixed so its not garbage.
There is no good reason why custom mobs should be harder and worth less.

Its not bad if you use existing mobs, but that kinda ruins alot of arcs.

I know I wont do custom mobs till they give something decent, either in mine or ones im doing. And if I do one, I start by knocking 2 stars off for poor rewards. And yes I put that in the feedback, poor rewards.
  9. I was away for a long time, and now im back and it seems that MA has fallen flat on its face. I understand the need for farming nerfs, but now we are in a position where its hardly ever used.

Custom mobs give heavily reduced experiance at a significant difficulty increase. More powers, player levels, and 75% experiance for standard. Hard and Exrtreme are not even remotly worthwhile.

Mobs have their experiance modifier cut to 1.0 even if its over it.

This is back to news/radio being the prefered leveling method. The only people that ever use it anymore are hardcore Rp's telling a story and those people farming tickets.

But even with that most RPers tend to avoid it since it results in slower gain.

So Im wondering whats the point of it being here at all if its so rarely used, and if its so rarely used doesnt it need to be looked at, or is all the devs care about right now Going Rogue?

Edit: Oh, and like I said, I did say mergers would be messy. I do think doing mass transfers for a low price would be the better option. But at $10 a pop, I just can't afford something like that.
I think this might be a better answer, low cost server transfers, like 4 characters for 15 or somehting like that.

No? Or are you just going to *assume* the SG, the bases, etc. can be moved? And what if not everyone goes to the same servers - or some choose to stay?

I have a better idea. Shut down Freedom, and force the people there to spread out to the other servers. I *like* my servers. I like Pinnacle, Guardian, Victory, Infinity, Champion, Triumph and the like.

Don't like that solution? Then keep yer damn hands off MY servers.
Its going to happen at some point, why do i say this, because it has happened in every other mmo once it starts dropping below a certain point.

Are we at that point yet, I dont know.

Id be happy if they had maybe a few free transfers for christmas or something then I could pull all my characters off justice.

Justice is impossible to find teams at any time other than prime, and it stinks.

There are ways to deal with this.

You could offer free transfers off a server that is going to be merged. Offer free name change tokens.

Or you could skip the merge and just offer free transfers off dying servers.

But right now it makes too much sense to milk the transfer fees.

    So they wont.

    1) Someone posts this thread/idea/concept once a week.

    2) Some people like small servers. Getting rid of small servers by merging them is bad.

    3) If you don't like your server, move. If you aren't willing to move, then it's not someone else's job to fix the problem.

if transfers were free this would be a reasonable solution.

But since they arent, volunteering other peoples money seems like a well..unfriendly thing to do.

I do think lower pop servers need to be merged, I play on virtue and justice, and Ive just about given up on my justice characters because its impossible to find a team on justice except during prime time. Even early or late I can find teams on Virtue.

Though I dont feel strong enough to make a big fuss about it since virtue is experiance a surge in population from transfers from lower pop servers.

Which I actually think is the plan, milk as much cash from people transfering off low pops till it hits a critical low population.

  15. It would seem to me the entirety of the playerbase is going to want to be vigilante.

Since it has access to both zone sets and the hero market, since the hero market is so much healthier.
  16. ooops here is what I was refering to the press release Press release
  17. The thing is if you bounce down to level 1, what will happen is it will be a 1 side game.

As everyone switches to hero for access to the better market at as low a level as they can.

And if this does happen, if you think powerleveling is annoying now.... OOOOOH BOY you aint seen nothing yet.

The problem as has been said.

Is any rating under a 5 means it will never see the light of day again.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The thousands of ratings placed on three star arcs to date is busy proving you wrong as we speak.

Sure, you can probably find some counterexample, but I can find pages full of three star arcs where the minimum plays is ten and the median is something like 50.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Those are probably almost all very short arcs.

I noticed very shorts get lots of plays cause they come out on top of search by length.

  19. Ritki and Sky raiders arent that bad, and carnies you need a largish team before you start seeing illusionists in any numbers, and there is a badge for it, so thats different.

Also freaks, Cimerions, council and probably a bunch of others I cant think of at the moment.

And I was saying this to get a rise to show that players are all going to have their own way to judge so no matter how good or how bad your arc is, the ratings arent always going to make sense
  20. I think they might have changed their mind in late beta after all the griping started.

So they might not have changed the wording on the post

I really would like to get official clarification on this.

I for one dont think its even remotly fair to allow anyone to get more than devs choice. That changes it from 1% of the player base to more like .5% since they will likely look at previous publishers first.

And honestly how are we to know wihtout complete transparency that a dev isnt giving out DC's to their friends.
  21. Im just saying anytime its happened in past mmo's it ended badly, with players lining up on both sides of the issue and firing shots.

Why do you think they took away stars for forum posters.

The problem is the system doesnt allow you to dig through the thousands and thousands of arcs easily

This makes it so finding anything other than 5 stars is an excercise in futility.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Pick one or several star ratings you want to examine, or unrated, plus your choice of alignment and length. Sort by whatever you like. Hit the page buttons to get out into the middle of things and start poking around physically randomly like running your hand along a bookcase.

It's not handed to you on a platter, it's not even ideal, but it's not really hard, either.

    [/ QUOTE ]

which means 99.9999999% of the players will never do it..
  24. The devs got accused of favoritism, only looking at proven arcs, unfairness.

And the people with multiple arcs were getting harrased for being the devs pets or kissing tuckus to get there.

I would be shocked if they opened that can of worms again.

The devs must must mantain an air of imparitality, not an air of the only way to get devs choice to personally know one of the devs or be buddies with them.
