I like the idea of PvP - I don't even care if we're outnumbered.
And no, Choking Cloud doesn't interrupt this; and I could see where they were most of the time on my map - because they were orange dots since they were bounty targets. I could actually target the player on the map, and go right up to them - but I couldn't attack them. As Kajata said it's IMPOSSIBLE to keep moving all the time.
1. Noone should be one-shotted by another player of an even-level.
2. Stealth shouldn't make players intangible. If I can see and select a player from the map, know where he is within feet; why can't I attack that player? Why do I just have to stand and wait until I get one-shotted? (Or go somewhere else, try to attack a rare non-stealthed villain then be one-shotted by his buddy)
This is ridiculous. -
I finished Uni this morning; so I logged in to all my games to catch up. I went into Siren's Call, there were far more villains than heroes... Fair enough, City of Villains is only 5-6 weeks old; people still want to play villains.
I scraped a team together of 7 heroes; and in the past half hour I have been one-shotted around 10 times by stalkers whos only 'tactic' is to stealth so they can't be attacked - then one-shot me.
Does anyone else think this is HIDEOUSLY inbalanced?
Fair enough, I'm a defender; so a stalker should take of a fair proportion of my hit points - but the villains ENTIRE engagement in the fight were having stalkers use Assasin's Strike on me and the controller.
I don't care if I'm great at PvP; all I'm asking for is a FAIR fight. I can tank a GM - so why can an EVEN level villain be unable to be hit; then kill me in one shot? -
I'd say Shimmer is 18.. she'll grow up with me
-
My Mastermind isn't in a SG yet. I haven't had much/any time to play - I'm currently programming Trivial Pursuit for my first year project.
-
When I level up a bit more (ie Salvage-getting level) I'll gladly trade.
My MM is going to have an arcane base.
(I'm 8 1/2 but it's exam time :P) -
Innigo, noone is saying they want the largest base possible with amazing defences for a small supergroup. All we want is a FUNCTIONAL base within a REASONABLE amount of time.
You seem to be tearing down an argument which we are not making.
We shouldn't have to join a bigger supergroup! We should have access to a small base with basic functions - and by basic functions, all I mean is control, power and a workbench. That's it. No teleporter, no mission computer, no maze of rooms, no huge plot. Just BASIC stuff.
That is not too much to ask for what we paid. -

It makes me laugh when I see people complaining it's too hard to get prestige, perhaps if you weren't here complaining about it you'd be able to make the base you want.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thats a load of [censored]. Tons of people have very very little time to game, myself included. Today I went on for two hours, which is the most I've had time to play for oh, two months? So it's going to take a LONG time for casual players to even get a funtional (control, power, workbench) base.
(I say functional because everyone get's salvage in supergroup mode, yet they have nothing to do with it...) -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm sorry Shimmer but it sounds to me like you want your cake and to eat it. No offense.
You want to have your small SG, presumably you have editing rights. So you want to have a functional base, that you're in (joint) charge of, and it's easy to get.
Unfortunately you can't have all three. Pick any two.
And honestly, I don't see any problem with that.
[/ QUOTE ]
And the leaders of big supergroups? They can have all three but I can't because I'm the leader of a small supergroup. So how exactly is that fair?
Also, as had been said; the immature flaming isn't helpful.
It's a shame the community has digressed to this level. -
No Empathy is always a good thing
Empaths are great but there are too many idiots who don't see the value in other types of defenders. -
[ QUOTE ]
This must be your 4th or 5th post now shimmer and its getting very boring.
[/ QUOTE ]
Then don't read them? Also I'd appreciate if you wouldn't flame me.
[ QUOTE ]
The games only been out 2 weeks or so and youve already found lots of time away from your busy university life to post on the forums!
[/ QUOTE ]
20 minutes. In total. How much prestige could I have earnt in that time??
[ QUOTE ]
My SG had these items after about 1 week and a half. Its grown in size but lets say the average over that first week was 20 members.
That means if your SG has only 5 members, itll only take you 6 weeks to get the base you want.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, it doesn't. Our supergroup has 3 active members, all who have little time to play.
[ QUOTE ]
Why dont you think of it as something to work towards?? After all once you get it im sure youll be very bored very fast of just a bunch of rooms that do nothing. ( all the workbench does is allow you to make items from salvage that cost even more prestige to place in the base ).
[/ QUOTE ]
Uhm, because not having these rooms discourages people from joining smaller supergroups?
Because I want salvage to have a purpose?
[ QUOTE ]
Dont tell me you paid 150 dollars just to make a base? You shouldve just bought the sims!
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd appreciate if you would desist from flaming me just because I voice my opinions on an aspect of the game I find unfair. Of course I didn't just buy the game for bases, I've had the game since EU beta.
[ QUOTE ]
Bases are for hard-core gamers who want something to do once they reach max lvl, if they reduced the prices they would simply devalue all bases and reduce the longevity of CoV for all of us. I for one dont want that to happen.
[/ QUOTE ]
So because you're a hardcore gamer, people who pay the same perfectly good money should be excluded? I doubt you would say the same if you were a casual gamer. Not everyone has the time or the inclination to spend lots of time playing. But everyone PAID for a base.
Bases don't really extend the game at all! They don't provde any new missions or new enemies! All they do is give you a goal to grind towards, and even if the smaller supergroups had the minimum functions of a base, larger supergroups could still work towards having a huge secure complex with choke points and items of power!
I used to be a hardcore gamer (8 hours a day or more for months) but it shocks me how people can be so selfish when most of the people who play City of Heroes are casual gamers!! -
[ QUOTE ]
I feel a base isn't something you have knocked up within a couple of weeks, but something you're always working to improve.
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly, a base IS something you're always working to improve... look how much more huge, secure complexes cost than the smallest plot.
I don't want a huge complex - I haven't earned it.
But I have earned the right to what I PAID for. All I want is a functional base. Tiny, but functional. I, and other casual players and members of small supergroups deserve that.
And I can't play 10-15 hours a week. It's more like 5 hours. Max.
As I've said before, I'm doing a degree. (And I don't mean the student-ey 'get Cs and drink/game', I mean, try to get As) :P -
The amount of prestige non-secure items cost is ridiculous, as is the fact that the dozens and dozens of player complainst have not been adressed once.
Personally, I would've earnt a lot more prestige in the past than I do now; I used to play 8-10 hours a day - but now I'm at University so I have very little time to game. My supergroup has also decreased in size a lot in the past because of my lack of involvement (I was never online, and noone else kept it going by inviting new people)
People who can't play all day and who aren't in a big supergroup can't take advantage of features of the game THEY PAID FOR.
Ridiculous.
I don't want to be in a big supergroup.
I can't play all day - I'm doing a degree.
I'm not asking to have ANY secure items, I'm not asking to have an item of power, I'm not asking for base raids - all I'm asking for is the smallest plot, with basic, functional (ie control/power/workbench) base which I paid for.
This is not too much to ask. I've spent about 150 in buying City of Heroes, City of Villains and paying the subscription for it. I'm sure many others are the same.
Yet we continue to be ignored.
I know you have to put a lot of effort in to have a huge complex.
I KNOW you can't expect to have an item of power and base raids from day one, even month one.
All I want is a tiny base with very basic functions. I'm a normal player - I spend my day working and when I have the time, I like to play City of Heroes, but I expect to have access to features I paid for, and like the other normal players, I'm being ignored. -
I logged back in to City of Heroes when City of Villains came out; to see what had changed in Issue 6, and I spent a good few days making a really nice-looking base (we have a kitchen, board room, office, library, bathrooms, labs, areas to relax...) but the problem is - it is completely non-functional.
Yes, I could earn the Prestige; but frankly this would mean devoting much more time to City of Heroes than I have available - and playing missions that i stopped playing because I was finding boring and repetitive (and let's face it - a grind)
It'd be nice if I would have enough Prestige for something in maybe 8-10 hours of playing; then I could at least feel like I've achieved something while I run through more missions I've grown bored of until I get to the wonderful Task-Forces and Trials of the late-30s.
This was an amazing new feature; worktables and salvage was a fantastic idea (looting, anyone?) but most of us can't even use it!! What's the point in bringing in a great new feature that people can barely use; and then ignoring everyone's very valid complaints on it? -
What i really find shocking is that this hasnt been addressed or commented on by the devs.
-
If you have a workshop in your supergroup base you can make it into useful items.
But the capabilities for a workbench will need about a million prestige - so it'd take a while. -
We don't all have time to play all day.
I used to - but even on 8k a day, it'd take me a LONG time to build a really nice base. Basic functions? A few months. Full functions? A few YEARS.
I wonder how they'll manage to nerf this further -
[ QUOTE ]
I will confirm what i see a functional base as being.
A power room with a generator
A Control Room with a Main Frame
A workshop with a Basic Workbench
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed 100%
It should be a challenge to buy things such as an advanced workbench, and the power/control to run it - but every supergroup should be able to afford a basic, functioning base.
Way to suck the fun out of a new feature. -
Also, how are small supergroups supposed to become larger now?
It was already hard to get new supergroups off the ground, but when a new player is given the choice between a big supergroup with a fully functioning base, and a small supergroup with a non-functional base (because they can't afford one) which are they more likely to pick?
And since the small supergroups can't increase in size as easily the base won't increase much and they'll be stopped.
The amount of prestige for BASIC items is ridiculous.
My supergroup only have the entrance, an energy room, and a control centre. (With no generators or mainframes) What do we do with our salvage til we can get these, and a workshop, and a workbench??
If we EVER do. -
I agree. It is WAY too expensive.
We're a small supergroup admittedly, but what about RP'rs who don't want a base, but they want a house?
More to the point, a small but functional base should NOT be such a huge undertaking to achieve - an elebarote base with an item of power and the best of each item SHOULD be a big undertaking.
