The aim of the group is to become a very active Role Playing, comic book creative team using players own heroes to create rich origins, back stories and to form the Patriot Brigade super-group:

- A site for players to create and submit artwork, stories, comic strips / scripts and discuss all aspects of the superhero media.

- Getting together as a creative team to come up with story ideas and planning on line comics for their own characters and the Patriot Brigade.

- Putting a bit more role play on Defiant

- To have fun, enjoy the game and getting together with friends.

I want the Patriot Brigade SG to be unique and give players of COH/COV game a creative outlet.

How to gain membership:

To gain membership you can either send Captain Patriot a tell or email on-line or through this site to patriotbrigade@blueyonder.co.uk or try and locate the SG Leader, Commanders or Cpt listed in the Patriot Brigade SG Roster. These members will then arrange a meeting on-line so you can be invited into the SG.

Well I finally got round to finishing my first Captain Patriot online comic. This is my first attempt at putting one of my scripts into practice - any feedback good or bad would be great.

This story is basically Captain Patriots First day in Paragon City and I wanted to put my first experience playing the game for the first time (well with Cpt anyway), into the story.

So here it is and I hope you all enjoy Captain Patriot Issue #0 - A Call To Help!

Yeah, I'd be up for that, The Shadow and Rocketeer are some of my favourite pulp characters. Especially when the booster pack travel set becomes available in CoH

Count me in if you want to go with the Pulp theme.

Patriot Brigade on CoH or Bismarck Axis on CoV defiant server got some good RP going, small group but those members are always up for some good RP.

Always looking for good RP members to join. No set nights for the group unless a story arc has been specified and a meeting has been arranged, but if you online and ever fancy some RP based meet-ups or missions we just get stuck in.

Off the coast of Rogues Isles - Thursday 14th September, 2006 [11:32 GMT]

Captain Patriot is flying towards Rogues Isle. The Patriot Brigade has been investigating links of an organization E.V.I.L. recently and a number of leads have run cold. This new revelation linking the execution of Rose Adam’s A.K.A. Midnight Rose, has brought up a new lead possibly linking the two.

[COM LINK – “PATRIOT GUARDSMAN TO CAPTAIN PARIOT”]

“Go ahead Guardsman”

“Cap, I know your halfway to the isles by now, but I thought you should know. There has been some disturbance at the Adam’s residence in Founders Falls. Its turning into a media circus down there and the locals are not taking well to the news about Rose Adams. Do you want any other available Brigade members to attend?”

“Negative Guardsman, this could be a delicate situation” I’m turning around. Do you have any more information on the rest Rose Adam’s Family?”

“Only that she lived with her parent’s at 31 Bartock Avenue. She also had a younger sister named Rebecca, she’s chairperson of the Paragon Mutant Anti-Defamation League.”

“OK, thanks Guardsman. In that case she may have enemies of a legal nature jumping all over this announcement about her sister.”

“Opportunist’s?”

“Yes, this would open floodgates for any defamation clams currently open or the perfect person to use as a scapegoat to cover any E.V.I.L. links. I need more information on this Midnight Rose.”

“I’m on it Captain, I’ll see what background information I can dig up on her.”

“OK, Captain Patriot out.”

Captain Patriot turns quickly and heads for Founder’s Falls back in Paragon City. Hopefully he can offer assistance to the Adams’s. He has a gut feeling E.V.I.L. is player a part in this, but to what purpose?

[THE COMPUTER SCREEN SCANS THROUGH HUNDREDS OF NEW REPORTS]
[SMALL ALERT SOUNDS AND SCREEN STOPS WITH Crey Report # 99795601]

Patriot Guardsman lifts the blast shield from his face and switches off the blow torch, looking at screen. On the worktable is a half finished robot.
Guardsman walks to the computer console and scans the report. His eye’s spot E.V.I.L. and immediately grabs his communicator from the table.

[THE AIREWAVES OPEN WITH A HISS]

‘Patriot Guardsman to Captain Patriot… do you copy’ commands Guardsman.

[…]

Suddenly the channel bursts open with a wall of sound, fighting can be heard in the background.

‘I’m a little busy Guardsman, can it wait for 10 minutes!’ shouts Captain Patriot.

‘Confirmed, but I thought you might want to know that the computer scan has picked up a non-encrypted communication within Crey Biotech laboratories. It mentions E.V.I.L.’

‘Thanks Guardsman, hopefully this is the lead we’ve been looking for. I’ll finish this up now, tired of playing with these Sky Raiders. I’ll be back at Patriot Towers as soon as I can’

‘Roger, over and out Captain’

[15 minutes later]

Captain Patriot walks into Patriot Guardsman’s workshop. Guardsman is still sat at the computer console.

‘What have you found’ asks Cpt Patriot.

‘This is the internal report from Crey Biotech, non-encrypted I might add which is strange in its self! I’ve been gathering information about this Rose Adams A.K.A Midnight Rose and Geoffrey Warner’

Captain Patriot scans over the report and profile information of Midnight Rose.

‘There’s no definite link with E.V.I.L. but it’s a start. I’ll start with this Geoffrey Warner at Crey Biotech see if I can get an more out of him.’ Replies Cpt Patriot.

‘Be careful Captain, do you want me to call any other members of the Brigade?’ asks Guardsman.

‘Make Vixen and DragonBane aware, this should just be routine but I don’t want to take any chances’.

Captain Patriot flies out of the window exit of Patriot Towers towards Rogue Isles.

damn it, why are you guys on Union... this is a fantastic idea and would have loved to have taken part with my SG Patriot Brigade but we're on Defiant.

For those looking for a bit of CoV RP on Defiant don't forget to look up the Bismarck Axis

This is the arch-villain SG of the Patriot Brigade. The evil General Bismarck has escaped Tanais Asylum Germany and is seeking revenge on his arch-enemy Cpt Patriot of the Patriot Brigade.

I thought about it but for me its all about time. I haven't enough hours in the day or week to dedicate time to both servers with the same character. Running the SG side with stories and events just wouldn't be possible for me!

You've hit the nail on the head... I think it's become common place for players to give up RPing on Defiant becasue of a kinda "Jack the lad" approch to playing (this is how it sometimes comes across). It's a shame because new players to the game who want to RP will be in the same boat as myself when they realise Union was the better server for PRing and it shouldn't be like that!

I've set-up a SG with a creative angle but requires a lot RP to esnure the creative story telling side is maintained. I'm seriously thinking about changing the aim of the SG with more emphasise on the RPing than the creative.

I'd love for people like yourselves to join and help put the RP back into Defiant:

Bit of a soapbox moment so sorry for the rant but I personally think there isn't enough RP on the Defiant server. I wasn't aware of the now apparent distinction between both Union and Defiant servers when I first started to play and now wished I’d picked Union for my character. I think the reason for this rant is the effort I’ve put into creating a creative role-playing super group and no one on Defiant seems interested. I been browsing the Union and RP forums and every serious RP player is Union based.

I created a quick test character on Union yesterday and straight away there were players in character coming up with fantastic stories.

Defiant we need more RP : (

I think the reason I'm opting for the comic scripts is the nature of CoX. These characters are based in a comic book world and as I'm playing I feel as if I’m immersed in the comic book. I totally agree with the comparison between the CoH books and comics (or any given story type), but I always get connected in both mediums when you visually see a reference to the game like “Atlas Plaza” or a world reference in the books.

We as promised here is the first part of my comic script for my ongoing Captain Patriot comic idea. What makes a great superhero... his arch nemesis of course. I've already given Cpt Patriot a very WWII spacific origin and needed a sutable villain to match him... Introducing General Bismarck.

I love reading other players origins (if you see me just standing around in Atlas park that's normally what I'm doing), sometimes a little disappointed when players have no origins or have made a little effort at putting a few lines down for an origin. Shame there isn't more room for longer origin on the character creation screen as I had to chop mine down a little.

I thought I'd share Captain Patriots full origin and would love to see other players origins posted:

Captain Patriot:

Robert Maidstone was chief medical advisor to the Dawn Patrol during the Second World War. In an attempt to make normal soldiers and other vulnerable heroes stronger during battle. Robert Maidstone took the blood of England’s super invulnerable and indestructible hero’s to create a super healing drug to be used on the battle field and save lives during battle.
During an air raid on London, the Dawn Patrol research complex was nearly destroyed and Robert was nearly killed in the blast. In order to try and save his life the scientist who were trapped with him used the experimental drug to heal his near fatal wounds. Instantly Robert’s body healed before their very eyes. He also inherited super strength and rescued his fellow scientist from the collapsing building.

After this heroic act Robert decided to use his new powers and fight along side other heroes’s in the war effort and protect queen and country from the new threat of super powered Nazis called the Storm Korps. From this day onward he took on the name of Captain Patriot.

Because of his medical background Captain Patriot was posted to Northern Africa to help manage and protect medical facilities in combat. During this posting he met Paragon Cities newly formed first hero brigade. During the hero brigade’s first major battle most if not all of the team were killed on a full frontal attack against German Panzer tanks. Captain Patriot was distraught at the massacre he witnessed and felt guilty about his invulnerability and wished he could trade his powers for those who fell in battle.

Captain Patriot became commander of a smaller unit named the Patriot Brigade and was sent into the heart of Germany to locate a medical facility being used to create super-powered warriors by what ever means necessary. Captain Patriot and his team witnessed hundreds of failed experiments using science, magic and technology ending with horrific results. Most of these failed subjects were tossed aside, killed or thrown in under ground prisons. Captain Patriot was enraged at the total disregard for life show by the Nazis scientist and attacked the facility full on. A number of his team mates fell during this battle including his second in command Union Jack. The Patriot Brigade destroyed the complex and freed hundreds of German soldiers who were forced to take part in these experiments.

This was the last battle Captain Patriot took part in during WWII and returned to the UK a changed man; he hung up his costume and disappeared with no explanation. Those heroes’s he fought with blocked all efforts by the government to locate Captain Patriot as everyone accepted and respected his decision to hang up his costume and disappear.

The war was won and life continued. Captain Patriot became a forgotten hero and Robert Maidstone was presumed to be living life as an old man somewhere.

This was until the Rikti invasion came. Cities all over the world were attacked including London and all the hero’s fought with everything they had. To those who remembered and were the most surprised to see Captain Patriot return un-aged and protect London against the Rikti invasion. After they were defeated Captain Patriot help rebuild London but realised his efforts were need in Paragon City due the extensive destruction and re-building efforts that were needed.
