  1. Hi all

This time, I've got the date right.

Get in on a Master of KTF run this Tuesday, starting at 9 pm Eastern. Priority will go to players who've done KTF before and are therefore (hopefully) better prepared for a Master run.

Please come willing to commit to the run--this isnt a long TF compared to many and should be fairly quick (relatively speaking).

    2. Gulver - claws/regen scrapper

Mod 8 is win. Mod 8 would see the humour, especially if he popped on and asked for a farm

    BE THERE !
Cherry me love, I'm off work at 11 Atlantic, home and in game by 11:30, which gives me 1/2 an hour to spare before you start. Count me in.
  5. 1) Server dead? No. Quite busy...and its not hard to break into the communities like BMT or UHB. Just ask. Of course folks unaware of their existence wouldn't know who to ask. Sadly though some treat channels like BMT as an extension of zone broadcast.

    2) Racism? An I am an academic, tyvm, so I'll say this. The idea of 'race' as defining group 'a' as seperate and distinct from group 'b' doesn't exist in academia any more as its a vestige of older ideas from a time when 'race' was almost used to mean 'different species'. Define your terms. If you use 'race' to mean 'a member of a group of people who are phenotypically different significantly from another group' then yeah, race exists as a broad and loose category. Very broad and loose. Like a drunk girl in a frat house.

Saying 'The French are better than the Germans' (or vice versa) wouldn't actually be racist as, phenotypically, nothing distinguishes the one from the other. It's just arrogantly francocentric. People are people no matter where you go--we all sh*t (except Cherry who creates magical baked goods) and we all bleed (except Elf who possesses something less like blood and more like WD40 mixed with vaseline), and we all drop mistells (except me who never ever misstells).

Patriot Man ftw. One of the best folks I've ever met in game, always quick with a PM'ed 'hi!' when I log in. Indeed, I look forward to those messages. UC is right...chat to P-Man!

Agreed. My comment assumed vet players who have a sense of sportsmanship.

I don't generally use Vent, so if I heard tell of being trash talked on it I'd say what I had to say in the broadcast channel. And I can rip an ego down like no one.

    Switch Server!

    Quote:
As long as your switching take PoN, LES, and EXILES with you and maybe PvP will grow on this server.

    Elf'er did PvE? Who knew?

Met with EXILES for a pvp match the other day and had to cancel it. You guys never learn, you dont challenge a 2 WEEK old pvp sg then show up with 7-8 Uber-Purple lvl 50's with no intention of making the teams fair and expect others to compete.
PvP never became popular because of this attitude. You are bullies and PvP is not dead, it never was alive to begin with.

I talked with Pingu the other day and he said they had challenged Stryke-Force to Base Raids and PvP but Stryker always said not interested. I asked Stryker 2 yrs ago why we did not PvP or Base Raid, he said "There is no point to it". Hate to say it but Stryker is right! There are no benefits, it is boring, and the players who do it are way to often juvenile.
I've got to disagree here. I like the fact that many PvP'ers are purpled out and hard to fight. It means I MUST become better to enjoy it.
Put it this way....say you're learning to play as a goalie in hockey. If everyone takes it easy on you improvement will not happen. The challenge is the main thing.
When I PvP I don't care if I win or lose, although I will try to win. It's fun all the way.

If a 2 week old PvP SG accepts a challenge from an established SG, you;ve got to expect a difference in skill levels, builds and IOs.
A new MLB or NHL team doesn't get to play the weakest teams in the league so they can get used to it. Step into the majors and either play like a major leaguer or learn to. If you get schooled, make notes on where your weaknesses are then hit Mids' or the arena and work on it.

I don't think it helps to call someone a bully simply cause they win at PvP. That monster winner was a PvP noob at some point and learned.

Every bruise my toons get helps teach me to break bones more effectively next time.
  12. Still, I think Tom has a great idea here. Tom, if you choose a specific charity you'd like to support let me know. I'll get on board.

Thank you Shay and Major Tom for making light of these organizations we as service members realize that folks take the time and effort to take a little peace of home with or remind them whats waiting for them when they come back.
I may be misunderstanding this. I'm not making light of anything. I am a member of the Royal Canadian Legion (our equivalent of the American VFW) and spend a great deal of my time at work visiting our vets in the hospital where I work (we have a building dedicated for the sole use of veterans and their families).

my opinion: "Political veiws or not the truth remains the same soldiers are wounded and killed everyday take the time to realize what you are doing at this moment and what they are fighting at the same time."
Regardless of any opinions about the war, our servicemen deserve our respect, love and compassion. On my bedroom wall is a photo of my late grandfather along with all his medals and service record. My other grandfather was a POW in Hong Kong during WW2. He died before I met him.

I am the product of veterans. We all owe them more than we can ever repay.

Figure the other side should get some representation, if someone is goin' to post a charity with a political alignment.
This charity isnt about ending the war, just getting soldiers a chance to come home for Christmas.

It's an apolitical charity aimed at supporting troops and their families, without any political stance.

Click the link before you *****, guys.
  15. I love 'Silent Night' cause I rock a good version on my acoustic.

However, the best holiday tunes ever are:

The Night Santa Went Crazy by the incomparable Weird Al

Christmas With The Devil by Spinal Tap (this is a jazz cover)
  16. I'd have kicked. If you agree to do a TF, you know its an investment of time and energy and others are counting on you to do your job.

I remember this call for Posi, and was interested, but knew I only had about an hour to spare so I didn't join.
I might be inclined to be far more lenient on a Dr.Q tho. Way I figure it, let them stay on team but if they've done less than 1/2 the TF and we're into the final fight....boot.

No free merits off someone else's back.
  17. Great idea!

It might be late this year, but Let's Bring Em Home is a good one too.

There's a thought....I ran a CC in Pocket D once so vills could come. Turn out was absolutely huge!

    Red side needs love too!
  19. Wow, more win! Thanks Void!

Now here's one that I know has been driving some folks nuts...me included.

    resist to -end debuffs.

Example: I was doing fairly well in RV one night on my tank until the electric attacks nailed me hard. Toggles dropped and so did I. I've got a few ideas on this, but how about you PvP vets? How do you deal with this sort of attack? There doesn't seem to be a lot out there about it...
  20. This post is PURE WIN, Neuronia. Thanks a ton!
  21. Thanks for that! Great advice...

Targus is just beating his chest....he gives great advice on the PvP101 channel.

Do I suck, Targus? Well, avoiding the 'r' rating...

I'm by no means in the heavyweight class of PvPers. I'm fair to middling in zone PvP although I do much better in arena fights. But getting beat down in zone teaches a hell of a lot too.

But, in honor of Targus' meaness, and in service of my vindictiveness, I present the follow photographic reconstruction of Targus' origin. You can beat me up for it later.

  22. Hi all

I wanted to start a thread just for asking questions about PvP. NOT for things like:

"PvP sucks and so can you!"
    "I farm u lolz"

and so forth. I'm learning more about pvp every day, so why not have our questions here where the Wise and Experienced can share their insights?

    Here's my first question.

What powersets are best suited for PvP? My stalker is nb/sr and several stalkers have let me know that nb is not ideal for non-pve play; usually EM comes up as a suggestion. My scrapper is spines/regen; regen is pvp win, but spines could certainly be better.

So, Kat, Enemy at al: for each AT, what would you recommend as powersets for those making PvP toons?
  23. Shaytanah

    I have failed :(

Spent some time in RV tonight on my stalker before a TF started.

I had a blast. Got a few kills, got killed myself more than once. Great advice as well on the PvP101 channel from Targus with regards to powersets.

Lads, I had a better time pvping tonight than ever before, despite getting splattered.

Love to all the pvpers. Keep it alive.
  24. No crazy story to tell but...

In one SG base I made a floating platform and used the vertical filing cabinets to create a base on which the platform sits. Inside the little area concealed by these filing units I have a hancey table stashed. You can't access it without going into the base editor and moving one of the 'walls'. High security. Out of sight, out of mind. Other fellows have done similar.

When I'm less lazy I'll post a screen cap or two to illustrate...
