Agreed with FFM. If it is able to connect to the *patcher*, which it does before you click 'Next' to get to the EULA screen, then you have a good internet connection, and the game is installed, and as we said, nothing in your spec seems to imply it would fail to play the game, especially in safe-mode.
My money's on the hotel's firewall/port blocking. -
So, basically, ALL of us who are using Maestro as a payment card type are going to have to change, come our next renewal of subscription?
Gee, thanks NC.
I would rather you took the money straight out of my bank account than me pay for it on my credit card.
This comes down as the mother of all Customer Service fails, in my opinion. What next? We won't be able to pay for things at shows on Maestro? My most sincere apologies to Mr Andrew Wildman and DTWT, but that's STUFFED any further charitable donations from me. -
We're trying to help, dipstar. Honestly, we are. We're not talking down to you, I promise. We want you to enjoy the game as much as the next guy.
I've even started trawling computer sellers trying to find a Dell T7100, and that's the chip. Can you give us the model of the PC? We can pull the spec from PCWorld, or Dell themselves, and THEN we can offer some more advice. -

It also takes about 1 mintue to accept, let someone run the map and then quit. Whats is so hard or annoying about? I thought the RP community were all about helping others? Whats wrong with helping farmers?
[/ QUOTE ]
There's nothing wrong with helping farmers. My wife is happy to take on a fill request while she's standing around doing nothing in WW, or RPing, or whatever. Heck, I'd be happy to do it, too, IF my exposure to farmers so far had not consisted of all those who contact me ignoring my search comment and then ARGUING with me about it. That's not a generalisation. That's personal experience. 100% of farmers who have contacted me have ignored my search comment, and then argued with me about it. -
Spec required:
What processor is it?
What graphics card does it have?
What driver set is it using FOR that graphics card?
What Service Pack of XP are you on?
Do you have a Firewall active?
How are you connecting to the internet? -

What a very grown-up response!
You wouldn't like non RPers people spamming the GG and RP threads with off-topic stuff about how sad RPers are would you? It'd be nice to show the Fillers and Farmers the same respect.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't condone the attitude that FFM has displayed on this thread (he's actually a really nice guy, but sometimes that horse of his is a little too high for such a... well-built.. chap to get down from), but there's a huge difference between my experience of RPers (of which I am one, admittedly) - Keep pretty much to themselves, very welcoming to new blood, don't force themselves and their way of enjoying the game on anyone not interested - and the majority of my experience with farmers - ignoring my requests not to bother me with invites, /tells all over the place, spamming broadcast - that I would be extremely annoyed if someone decided to give RPers some grief for our policy of NOT being annoying in-game.

Mmmm... tasty thread.
Ignoring the vitriol that seems to be spreading between the pro- and anti-farming corners of the community, I would say that the information provided in the original post is quite handy for farmers, particularly if it holds true.
Now to speak personally, I don't like farming, I think it's one of the most boring and mindless activities in the whole world, and I would much rather follow the story, thanks very much. However, each to their own (which is another way of saying that I do appreciate the increases in salvage and recipes we see on the AH thanks to the farmers).
It's farm requests that have pushed me to sit on Search-hide on all of my characters, meaning I don't get call ups for PUGs (which I can do without, anyway, to be honest, but I enjoy every now and then), thus contributing to the apparent lack of players on the servers.
If I had one piece of advice that I could personally offer to farmers, it's this: Keep having fun, but please, please, please, please, PLEASE read the search comments before sending a /tell or a team invite. -

...other in croatoa somewhere in the university
[/ QUOTE ]
To the right of the entrance to the Uni in Croa is the entrance to the Midnighter Club. Percy is standing beside it, and gives out the Origin of Power story arc (basically a series of 'chat to X' mishes). -
You're not wrong, Mr M. Solo and Switch were (before Switch merged with Maestro) the same payment scheme, with Solo being a 'lite' version of the Switch card. In theory, anywhere that takes Solo should be able to accept Maestro because they are basically the same payment type.

Hadpy birpthay!
That ish all.
That cake sounds... yummy, actually.
Damn.
Now I want cake. -

The only account for CoH that I have unsubbed is the US one. That doesn't allow Maestro payments, but it may be because it's the US one.
[/ QUOTE ]
You are correct: The US subs have never accepted Maestro.
Just to clarify things (I ask that a lot, but I'm finicky) with the OP:
You have a Maestro Card that you have previously used to pay for the game and the card is still current.
Your CoX subscription has lapsed.
You wish to resubscribe.
On the 'Reactivate Account' page there is no option to either use existing card details nor add a Maestro card.
The 'Change Card' page does not allow reactivation of accounts, despite being able to accept Maestro cards.
Am I correct? If all of the above is true, then it sounds to me like there is an error on the Reactivate page, because we know for a fact that they CAN take Maestro payments - indeed they DO currently debit my account on a quarterly basis, using my Maestro card details.
While it would be nice if GR came back to us with a comment to the effect that either NC have stopped accepting Maestro or that there is an error on the page, we DO have to bear in mind that 1) He needs to find out first and 2) He is in Northern California right now so that's not necessarily EASY. -
Hey, if you want to hear a funny (in a bad way, not a good one)...
The 24 hour chat ban bug that seems to strike if the Auction House has to send you too many "The Consignment House is Busy, please try again later" messages struck me last week. It hit me at 20.45 on Day 1 (Saturday). Within 5 minutes of petitioning it, I had a response from support stating that it had been escalated to a Senior Customer Representative. I was hopful. Bad move.
The chat ban ended at 20.45 on Sunday.
17+ HOURS LATER... (Around 16.00 on Monday) I got an email from Customer Support informing me that they had investigated the issue, and that the issue I was having should now have been resolved. Congratulations, Customer Support. A Chat ban should have been resolved 17 hours after the ban ended. Yep, that's some genius thinking, there. As I mentioned in the updates I made to the ticket, I do not consider waiting out the 24 hour ban to be an effective resolution to this matter.
Still not happy. -

He's getting picked on again, isn't he? Is this going to be another 'Charity auction scene' like we saw at Omega Sektor where poor old Aero got a bid with the proviso that he NOT be at a meal with the community team and the bidder?
He looked so forlorn, it was funny. -
Ages and ages since the last post on this thread...
Last night, shortly before his regularly scheduled evening at Galaxy Girl, Richard Huntington/Shadowe received an urgent call from Portal Corp asking for assistance against a high-tech enemy, presumed to be Rikti. On arriving at PC's headquarters on Peregrine Island, he met a number of heroes, being led by Major Paul Stone, and the cadre entered a portal to find themselves on a ruined world, faced by a large number of foes. They weren't Rikti, however, but followers of the powerful Lord Nemesis. A heated and frantic battle took place as the heroes struggled to overcome the Nemesis Army troops, in the process rescuing a number of innocent civilians, who have since been repatriated to Union-Earth.
(Apologies to everyone from the Shades whose names I have now forgotten, though I don't think that Dicky is likely to forget Blind Vision in a hurry.)

The difficulty with villain RP is that villains tend to be loners who only team together for a good reason. As such a 'casual' or 'coffee shop' RP sitation like GG is unlikely, as you have to answer the question of WHY the villains are getting together.
Plus, I've personally noticed, villains RP better when there are heroes to 'play off' against. This is what makes Pocket D a good place for villain RP, as they can meet heroes there, also. -
SWEET CHILLI!
Eddy, you just became my new best fwiend!
(I recommend you run. Now.)
Right, a brief OT bit to the post:
I've always found the telling people how to play winds them up. The only piece of advice I've ever listened to about playing my Eng/Eng blaster is "Fly above them, turn it into knockDOWN, please!". And if someone tries to tell me to do that on an indoor map without a big room, I won't pay the slightest bit of attention to them. -
How can you not like BBQ sauce?
Anyway, lots of screaming, lots of ranting, some substance, and a full-on slanging match between two players? Must be a forum thread while GR is out of the country. (Which is not to say that I have never been guilty of this, btw.)
Pass the nachos. -
Kick back, relax, enjoy the nurses.
Get well soon, and come back stronger than ever. -
What I would like to see is some way to expand on a L50 character (not infinitely, but some), perhaps with recipes (purples? Might work), the allow you to earn (pay for, craft, however) extra Enhancement slots to go into your existing powers, and perhaps enable you to purchase new powers from your primary/secondary/pools/Ancilliaries.
Never to go above the cap of 6 slots per power, and never to allow you to access powers outside those you have already got the selection options for, but as a way to 'fill out' your character.
Probably far too much effort, and a complete beast to code, but I think it would be good.
Though I will /sign Mumsie's point about people not having acheived the full potential of the current system. -
For which I, as a non-filler, respect you.
I got so sick of fill requests ignoring my search comment that I now leave my toons on Search-hide. -
Well, I got hit by one of these yesterday at about 8.45pm BST, and it just cleared, and while I'm extremely pleased that I got an email from support within 5 minutes of petitioning the problem, I'm sorry to say that I DO NOT consider 'wait until the 24 hours is up' to be a good way of dealing with it, which is what appears to have happened (I have to assume this, by virtue of the lack of communication from support since their first email to me, despite me updating the ticket twice in the intervening period).
For the record, it appears to happen as a result of the Consignment House being busy, and repeated messages being sent to let you, as a player, know this. Helpful in some respects, but not ideal when you hit "Get All Influence" while it's busy. -
Two options, as I see it.
1) He needed to include a line to fill out the haiku, so mentioning that when you respec you will be able to again check from any of the patrons
2) You'll be able to mix-and-match powers from the different patrons. Unlikely.
