Defiance was brokent with this new patch, Blaster secondary powers only 10% of the defiance bonus they did prior to the patch.

Shego....translation..."Tool"
-
So Deadline on I-7 is when???
I.E. when is the release date?
At what date past the release date will the respec be avaialble or will it be "forgotten" much like version up notes and patch notes etc.
Sorry to sound cynical, but been wating a long time for simple answers to simple questions about the induced EXP bugs, the sound looping bug, the 100% processor use at the log-in screen etc.
So,
An actual date would be nice. -
Honestly what it is is Crap.
Sorry, quit playing my stalker when I figured out I couldn't hide after hitting someone even if I got out of LOS, Behind boxes and hidden under a rug PLUS using my powers.
Don't get me started on Ambushes. -
Hey Castle....Thanks for the post.
This part bothers me.
"design philosophy problems to overcome"
When managment buys their own hype there is an issue.
Want some reality for this?
Round up 50 12 year olds, let them have free copies of COH/COV and turn them loose. Listen to what they think is an issue, then fix it.
Thats round #1
My son played (played mind you) COH/COV with me for a while. He played a Blaster.
His frustration was simply that he couldn't understand why his attacks weren't as good as the enemies attacks in many cases and the attacks to him seemed identical.
His final moment of play came when he was face planted by even con minions he had already "killed" (I.E. The attack that killed him was initiated while the target was being killed/knocked back.)
His quote was "I thought Knockback interuppted attacks, this is dumb dad."
And he quit.
I will note however that he took an AR/ELC Blaster so he wasn't having any easy time right out of the gate. -
Salvo's spot on.
Offense can be defense when you have enough of it.
Sadly, my Glass Cannon is missing some of it's powder.
All I'm asking is one attack , Ranged, that right out of the box (No enhancements etc.) drops a even con minion cold dead in his tracks.
Thats it.
The Animation can be the toon throwing a water balloon for all I care while blowing a party favor wearing floppy clown shows. -
It being over powered in PVP caused Cryptic to make a change that spanked all of its PVE usage.
Same with Knockback, travel supression etc.
They keep hosing the entire game to balance PVP, and if all COx was PVP then that may be okay.
It's hard to swallow for us PVE types. -
Please fix items
Specific to
AR/anything
Break-Frees do not work against Ritiki Mentalists (possibly Carnies) Holds.
Due to the "Animation" of trying to fire the gun. Please fix this.
Animation times for the AR primary set are way to long
The Gun is beyond ugly and annoying. Please give us an option (I'm begging you and will bake cookies if it will help.)
In general
Knock Back/Knock Down needs to be fixed so that it acts in a reasonable manner.
Currently Knockdown = Nearly no Effect.
Knockback is just as pathetic with spawns jumping up in the middle of the animation and returning fire.
It was an effective damage mitigation strategy (If the Knockback attack actually hit)
In addition, according to the manual, KnockBack attacks "interrupt" enemy attacks. This also does not work, as the enemy attack finishes regardless of the Knock powers hit.
I.E. Specifically it fails to interrupt a Nemesis Snipers shot (no surpirse since LOS does not effect their shots either.)
Either the manual needs an update or the power needs to do as it supposed to.
Please repair it.
Range in general needs to be improved across the board, it is currently inconsistent per attack and makes little sense in general based on our AT's power and the usually always superior ranges of the enemies in PVE.
Rooting. Why? I can understand on certina attacks like Snipes or larger damage Nukes etc. But on the small fast recharge attacks it is rather silly.
I'm serious about the cookies. -
Poor Logic in this post.
As yes, I do expect that the service I pay for meets a standard of quality.
That fundemental changes are implemented and documentation is not properly updated, is actually unacceptable.
People make mistakes, I accept this, HOWEVER making the same mistake over and over and over and over indicates that either the activity is NOT a Mistake and is in fact accepted practice internally.
OR
That the practice of documentation of issues (Check the known issues list please and tell me that it is accurate based on the technical issues forums/petitions etc.)
and their repairs is not considered a priority nor is the informing of the customer considered a valued or proper practice.
In this last Patch, how many "Undocumented" changes were found?
I know of at least 2, that had major easily identifiable effects
(Knockdown/Knockback and Whirlwind) on the player base.
That these changes were "not listed" in the patch notes is an issue.
Moreover, considering that the current "Known" issues listed still has items several months old, that have not been adressed is a problem.
Additionally, according to the forums several long standing issue exhist which continue to be ignored
I.E. The Stunned Mob Bug.
So fundementally while a change to Whirlwind would seem fairly minor, and in fact it may be.
The issue becomes a question of "WHY" fix something which was not listed as an issue, when several KNOWN problems exhist and have plauged the game for a very long time?
I suspect it is because the Devs currently spend an enourmous amount of time playing/testing PVP, and issue arise in this area that they feel they need to "fix"
Fine and dandy, HOWEVER making a universal change to a game based on one aspect (PVP) without any regard to how this change will affect a fairly large percentage of the subscriber base and then "Fail" to document said change (repeatedly it seems, as this pracitce is fairly common from my reading on the boards) Is a BIG ISSUE.
And it ties to consumer satisfaction.
Honestly, If I had not received the 2 free months for COH/COV I am not sure i would be playing/paying.
In the scant time I have been a subscriber my BASIC play style has been altered three times, in a period of 76 days.
And thats just what I can figure out has changed, and does not count the basic fundemntal Quality of Life issues that are suffered.
I.E. Randomly being punted from my SG base, after having purchased COV just to enter said base.
Which is a documented and know issue, unlike the ones which were change.
So color me confused as to why we need to just suck it up and deal with it, or accept yet another
"Ooops, sorry I forgot to write that down while I was recoding the game"
Rant Off. -
"And the people that cry DOOOOM can't seem to see that exploits *must* be blocked off, or eventually more people will be taking advantage of it."
Who cares?
Really, truly who honestly gives a rats behind?
Some make Exps to fast by combining their powers together to be more effective...EXPLOIT goes the cry.
Someone uses their powers in PVp to <gasp> WIN. And it's and EXPLOIT.
An exploit is getting more prestige than you pay for a Base item, and then doing it over and over.
An EXPLOIT is not using your powers as designed in new ways to greater benefit for your character and team.
Tell ya what, give everyone Brawl make us all Lvl 50 and call for a battle royal.
Knock all our HP's to the same level and make postive that the Brawl is only useful once every 5 minutes. That'll make it all better.
Then call it City of People who stand around trading punches.
Rant Off. -
Choosing your Inherent Powers at Character Creation you say?
BRILLIANT!
This is an awesome idea. -
This issue Defiance related, but more specifically this issue is about the player base and customer satisfaction.
It has been clearly and logically stated numerous times by the paying subscriber of the service that this specific inherent power does not meet our needs.
It is Buggy, and data has been provided to show this <Hard Numbers>
It is Flawed conceptually, and numerous complaints and explainations have been lodged.
It is not what the Blaster Community Wants, and we have offered proposed solutions.
In fact it is counter to the playing experiance we have come to enjoy as this specific AT.
Thats the BOTTOM LINE.
The Developers by and large do a solid job, in this instance they have come up with a flawed concept.
At the programming level it may work flawlessly in house, no argument.
Implementation wise, conceptually and "In-Use" it is falling flat amongst a segment of your paying customers.
Thats the cold hard reality.
Your in the entertainment business, this particular issue does not deliver the response from the player base that it should.
Develop something new for this AT (And Defenders who also do not like their Inherent) that enhances the "Fun" and entertainment value of the game.
Thats your goal as a business in the entertainment field isn't it?
Increasing the Fun value of your product?
We understand it is Working as you intend it.
Please understand that We, the people paying your bills, do not like it.
Thank You. -
The issue itself is simple.
Defiance is by and large useless for the following reasons (general list not all inclusive)
Kicks in after faceplanting
No tangible benefit during a team mission
Inconsistent/seemingly random damage buff when it does kick in
Rewards sloppy non-team oriented play
Defiance stays on after Blaster is fully healed (This is actually useful BTW.)
Only has a real tangible benefit at lower levels (1-12 mileage may vary) when Blaster cannot be killed in 3 hits or less.
In short, it is the exact opposite of what a Blaster would want. The AT is not designed for taking damage of any kind, has no defenses to speak of and at higher levels plants like a Tulip Blub at a windmill convention.
When it does finally actually kick in and provide a boost, as soon as any healing (Natural or otherwise) takes place it drops off so fast that it is of no benefit at all <Especially in a team setting with a solid support group>
Then there seems to be a "lag" issue, I.E. that the reward if and when it actually could provide a benefit does nothing as it hasn't "registered"
I understand the Concept I truly do
<Tom Hanks in Saving Private Ryan springs to mind>
It just doesn't work.
By the time the benefit is there, only 1 hit of any kind remains before Death and Debt.
It is useless in Solo play at higher levels as risking the Debt is not worth hangin in the fight at all.
Suffice it to say, if it just stuck around for 1 shot after were back in the green that would make it worthwhile.
Anycase, roll a Blaster up to 38 lets say, find a mob with multiple attack capablities like the COT and go to town.
It has inherent flaws in it's make-up. Please give us something "decent" not godly or game shattering just something that makes the AT more fun to play that acts as a pleasnt surprise opposed to a Warngin Claxon to retreat.
Thank You. -
My Guess and this is a GUESS mind you, is that by the time the system (Mine, My Interent providers or Cryptics) realizes that a defiance Bonus is supposed to kick in......Your sucking floor.
So essentially I am saying Lag is the issue.
Again this is only a Guess.
I have no hard proof or stats to back it up either.
I am going with pure gut feel on this....and the imperical knowledge gained while making the trip to Tileville
Thank You. -
Actually it's 100% "Craptacular" kinda like it says on the box.....
The only good thing defiance has ever done is given me a 10% damage boost (more or less) under full health due to it's own inherent bugginess.
Otherwise, it might as well be a Floor Wax.
Cause it ain't a power. -
Not to sound totally ignorant but......... An AT has a power which can kill other AT's in PVP, Correct?
I take it from what I read that it's pretty good.
So these AT's kill other AT's in PVP in One Shot.
If their victim is a stationary, not running any defenses which stop this ability and if they are not seen first and killed.
Wow. That is over powered, how dare the developers!
I say remove that power right now by GOLLY.
Here is what I want. I want everyone to have the exact same odds as everyone else, I want no one to use skill or intelligence in their play.
Walk to the middle of an area and just beat the crap out of each other, forever.
Geez, play the game, get better, learn how to stop the AT that can do this and drop the subject.
Worry about the bugs, the lock-ups, the sound looping, the crashes and the "content" of the game.
