Just my 2 cents:
1) Recovery Aura does nothing for one's accuracy or recharge
2) Casting RA, SB, AB and Fortitude during the Hold stage can hinder one's ability to cast their hold. Holds take priority. I like to tell people, at this point, to put Single target holds on AUTO, and click AM when it is available. Hasten is not necessary at this stage, but can be clicked when available. The other powers listed have too long an animation/cast time and can hinder activating powers. They also require targeting of another player, taking away the target from Hamidon.
3) Accuracy during the Hold stage isn't really a concern in general. Hamidon is not hard to hit with any power.
[/ QUOTE ]
Recovery Aura would fall under the category of helping the holders to be more effective as it allows them to not run out of endurance. Also this was meant to be a "what to do if you don't have a hold"
I didn't think Hamidon was hard to hit but I wasn't positive. Also though it increases the damage output on powers which makes it easier to hold him to defeat. -
Feel free to post any comments or *constructive* criticism :-)

**Ways to Make Yourself Unwanted at a Raid, and Poison Your Rep**
- Run up and hit Hamidon, then lay dead the entire raid while going AFK to collect a HamiO while not doing any work
- Use Multi-Target Attacks or summon pets the Raid Leader hasnt asked for
- Aggro Monsters and drag them into the jello
- Taunt Hamidon while not on the aggro team
- Attack Hamidon while there is no attack phase
- Use the request channel during the raid if you arent a Raid Leader
- Attack targets other than those of the Targetter
- Ignoring/Arguing with the Raid Leaders when you are asked to stop your Raid Destructive behaviors; Things you think are helpful arent necessarily so
***REMINDER*** The list of ways to make yourself unwanted and poison your rep are the things you should NOT do during a raid
As a controller, I would hope you know the difference between Hold/Immobilize/Sleep. Other ATs I have noticed seem to be having difficulty distinguishing the difference so here is a list of all the non-controller holds available to players:
Ice Blast/Bitter Freeze Ray
Ice Blast/Freeze Ray
Electricity Manipulation/Shocking Grasp
Ice Manipulation/Freezing Touch
Electric Blast/Tesla Cage
Dark Miasma/Petrifying Gaze
Trick Arrow/Ice Arrow
Luminous Blast/Incandescent Strike
Stone Melee/Seismic Smash
Flame Mastery/Char
Munitions Mastery/Cryo Freeze Ray
Electric Mastery/Shocking Bolt
Psychic Mastery/Dominate
Dark Mastery/Petrifying Gaze
Pyre Mastery/Char
Arctic Mastery/Block of Ice
Earth Mastery/Fossilize
And thats my guide, you can find me on Pinnacle as Seyda
Special Thanks to the following for filling in a few small gaps in my information: Photomotility, Superioron, and Seed -
Once the Mitos are completely cleared out the Hold Phase begins. If you dont have a hold, backup away from Hamidon and wait. Holds are also defined above, and when they are used on an enemy the enemy cannot move or attack.
This phase is vital to the success of the raid. If Hamidon hits half health or lower and the hold is broken, he can and will spawn Mitos. He spawns one Mito for every single person in the zone. Everyone inside and near the jello will be defeated and raids will be impossible until the server is reset bringing the Mito count back down to normal levels.
During the hold phase you can help with powers like Speed Boost, Accelerate Metabolism, Fortitude, Adrenalin Boost and Recovery Aura. These buff the recharge and accuracy of the holds and will help the holders be more effective. Its important to target through a pet at this point so that you dont lose sight of Hamidon.
After Hamidon becomes held and the Lead Tank stops taking damage, they will begin a count down. After approximately five to seven minutes of Hamidon being held they will call heroes forward by origin to take one shot at Hamidon. Every hero can take a hit but it is not necessary to have more than one person on your team damage Hamidon, one person counts for the team.
After all heroes get a hit in, Hamidon must be defeated. It is best to not have an attack phase, to minimize the risk of a failed raid. This is especially important if you plan to raid several times a week. Instead of an attack phase, Hamidon is held to defeat. Buffing is important here to keep the Holders going. Be sure to have an enhancement slot open!
If you have knockback resistance, or toggles you use for fighting activate them just before Hamidon is defeated. As he is defeated he puts out a big time knockback and explodes into tons of Hamidon Buds which are all boss level jello blobs. Attack away and let the HamiO trading begin. -
Raids meet at the South Rock in the Hive, it would be nice if the South Rock were a neighborhood marker in the Hive but it isnt so it can be a little tricky to find. If you are lucky there will be a train set up to the South Rock. Two people with some sort of recall friend will form a team and invite people, one stands at the entrance of the Hive to port people across Eden, and the other stands at the South Rock to port people across the Hive. **Warning, all enemies in the Hive are Monster Class Devouring Earth and it is not a SuperSpeed friendly zone** If there is a train team set up when you arrive at the South Rock please quit the team so that others may get ported also.
Once a good amount of people have arrived at the rock, the Raid Leader will want the Healing Curtain started. Everyone with an AoE heal should now put it on auto, and leave it as such until the Hold Phase begins.
*At this point I tend to experience a lot of lag, I recommend turning graphics, details and bloom effects waaay down. The last thing you want is to lag out as Hamidon dies and come back to find you missed out on a HamiO after all that work.*
The Raid Leader may also request that everyone changes into a costume that has no cape and no aura if possible to cut down on lag. If you dont have one dont worry, but if you do please be courteous to us folks with slower machines.
Once everything is set up the PA Team will move in.
The Assault Team will move towards the jello stopping to clear the nearby monsters who will not be welcome inside the jello during the raid.
As the Assault Team moves into the jello there will be a lot of Mito aggro. The further you are from the Lead Follow and the Healing Curtain, the higher the chances that youll end up as one of the first casualties.
As you move through the jello youll see the targetter announce their target, and the Lead Follow will announce when they are on the move.
When attacking during this phase do NOT use any multi-target ttacks on the mitos. They will draw unwanted aggro and get you and others defeated unnecessarily.
If you are uncertain as to whether your attack is single target or multi target, view the definition above or go to Atlas Park and find a good sized mob of Hellions, and use the attack once. Count how many take damage/are defeated. If the number is greater than one its a multi-target attack and should not be used during raids.
AoE Stealth Powers such as Steamy Mist and Shadow Fall, and Persistant AoEs such as Hot Feet, Mud Pots and Lingering Radiation should not be used either.
Stay away from the Lead Tank during the raid, you dont want Hamidon Aggro, trust me.
If you arent the Lead Tank, or Backup Tank should the Lead Tank be defeated, then you should NEVER taunt Hamidon during a raid. -
Lead Follow: This person leads the Assault team from target to target during the raid. When the raid begins, its best to right click their name in your server friends list and select follow. Doing this will keep you as safe as possible during the raid.
Targetter: Once you are auto-following the Lead Follow, select the Targetter on your friends list. When they announce a target, open fire! This is the best way to take down the targets quickly and with as little aggro as possible from other targets.
Make sure to find out who they are and add them before the raid begins.
Other important teams and people to be aware of:
PA Team: This team is made up of Illusion Controllers, if they dont all have Hover/Flight of some sort the team will want someone with Group Fly. They are flown above Hamidon and drop in their Phantom Army to take the first Hamidon aggro, along with a lot of Mito aggro so that the assault team is not destroyed while clearing a wedge for the Aggro Team to set up in.
Aggro Team: This team is made up of a Lead Tank, a Backup Tank and Empaths. As a section of Mitos are cleared out from the jello by the assault team, the Lead Tank will move into position and begin taunting Hamidon. This is to make sure Hamidon doesnt turn and wipe out the entire assault team as the clear the mitos. Empaths on this team should target the Lead Tank and auto-toggle their Heal Other. Also they should be buffing the tank with Adrenalin Boost. Hamidon does untyped damage so the fortitude buff is useless to the Lead Tank. Do NOT run up to the Lead Tank and drop your RAs, Hamidons AoE can easily kill you. It is also advised that you do not use Absorb Pain because by the time the heal fires off the tank will be hit with sometimes five other heals, and if you catch Mito aggro you will be unhealable.
This sums up the people and teams to be aware of. -
A List of Terms that will be useful to know while reading this:
Mitos: Floating enemies surrounding Hamidon
Jello: the term used to reference the bluish bubble that Hamidon and the Mitos re inside of
Multi-Target Attacks: Will include the following terms in their descriptions; AoE, PBAoE and Cone, these are attacks effecting more than one target
Assault Team: The group of heroes and heroines following the Lead Follow and clearing Mitos
Healing Curtain: Everyone not on another main team that has an AoE heal such as Healing Aura, Radiant Aura, Twilight Grasp and Transfusion (sorry if I missed any)
Holds: These attacks specifically say hold in their description, immobilization and sleep do not work here!! They accept orange enhancements.
HamiO: Hamidon Origin Enhancements, the purpose of the raid this enhancement will modify two or three attributes of a power a complete list can be found here
Recently Ive seen a lot of people at the Hamidon raids that just dont seem to know what they are doing. In order to try and help these people to not ruin the raid for everyone else, I decided to write this handy guide. This format is based on Pinnacle raids, and other servers may do things differently but this is pretty standard.
First things first, before the raid even begins add the Hamidon Raid Channel and the request channel to a chat box you will be able to see, keep in mind there will be around a hundred heroes at times in the Hive, broadcast and local will be moving right along. I recommend putting them both into one of the numbered tab windows.
On these channels you should be able to find the names of several important people. The three most important people for those not on another main team, are the Raid Leader, Lead Follow, and Targetter. Whoever the Lead Follow and Targetter may be, add them to your server friends list. Youll then be able to easily find them during the raid.
Those three people, Lead Tank and the PA Team Leader are the only ones who should speak on the request channel during the raid. -
One thing is bothering me after reading the replies, it's the people who are saying "But now I can't have an AV in my mission to solo unless I set the difficulty up but then its a higher level and I still can't solo it."
This ^^^^ is why we get nerfs people. You aren't supposed to be able to solo an AV. If the game just isn't challenging enough try upping your difficulty or teaming up more, it can be a whole new type of gameplay when you are on a team. but seriously, whining because now you don't get to solo an AV? If you can solo an even level AV you should be able to handle having your difficulty turned up. -

In order to incentivize larger teams, Positron is going to add a bonus to AV rewards!
[/ QUOTE ]
What kinda bonus you gonna add Posi? More XP? How bout some sort of super Salvage drop? Dual SO-type things? Special Inspirations?
[/ QUOTE ]
Great another bonus for large Super/Villian Groups only
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm not quite sure I understand the problem. this will be good for a solo player because they don't have to team if they don't want to, and because they made AV's completly optional they added a bonus for people who are willing to fight harder and work together to bring down a super enemy -

WOW!! OMG!!! YOUARETEHBEST!!!
Not really. ED still sucks. Supression still sucks. PvP is still awful compared to the other PvP choices out there(5 million customers=doing something right). The game is awful compared to I2-I3. Almost all the people I enjoyed playing the game with have left for greener pastures, and all you can do is give out more nerfs? Yes, you did undo this nerf, but not entirely. You still are going to introduce it again, just in a different way. There is no reason to play a superhero game where you feel more like a minion than a hero.
[/ QUOTE ]
Two questions,
a) If you hate it so much why are you still playing?
b) If you aren't playing, why are you still posting, just to be nasty when they actually announce good news? -
Good work, seriously. This is something I can seriously say I am happy about. Thanks a lot for listening to us.

ill repeat what i said 2 posts ago 13% endurance discount is exactly the amount of endurance you used to recover pre Enhancement Diversification, stop whining and hit rest between battles.
[/ QUOTE ]
so we are all only allowed to fight one person at a time now? Because I'm sorry I'm a blaster, I'm not trying to fight mobs, but I rarely see a mission where the guys are standing all by themselves everywhere, and pulling isn't flawless. -
[ QUOTE ]
So, does this mean you're doing the same thing to the Hollows and Striga? Being forced to go there is just as not fun as being forced into any other zone you have no interest in going to. If we now have a real choice about entering Warburg can we please have the same consideration for the Hollows and Striga?
[/ QUOTE ]
you do have the same choice for the hollows and striga. The Security chief in the hollows says that if you want to help him he'd appreciate it. I never take the missions when I first get sent there, but wait until about level eight or nine before venturing into the hollows. -
I'm just saying that they did this endurance cut like stamina was the only power that got a raw deal. I no longer have a regen scrapper, I wasn't a really good scrapper anyways and the nerfs just talked me out of it. But I was playing my blaster last night for the first time since i6 and I am CONSIDERABLY weaker and more vulnerable. It's really terrible. :-(
-
The endurance discount is not enough to counterbalance what they've done to Stamina. With ED stamina is 30% less useful, I believe its about that, but we've been given a 13% cut across the board... this doesn't do much, and it really isn't the right way to go about it when some people didn't even take stamina.
What they need to do is make certain enhancements only for certain powers, and then they can decide ok, this this and this are not being affected by the changes.
For instance... Super Jump has the jumping enhancement, Super Speed has the run speed enhancement and flight has a flight speed, which all came under lesser penalties with ED, however Teleport only used standard range and therefore took a beating with ED. There should be a Teleportation Buff enhancement.
Stamina should have a different type of endurance recovery enhancement so that the recovery aura can still get nerfed if they want it to be, and then stamina can use the new one under lesser penalty.
Not to mention HEALTH, they did absolutely nothing to counteract the loss of health regen with ED. Everyone made a big deal about Stamina, but Health matters too. -

What is this talk of solo'ing AV's?
No - these nerfs are for PVP with COV. Period. End of stupid story, and more likely than not, a few more accounts.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just because you can't do it doesn't make it impossible. I know people who aren't level fifty that can take on AVs all by themselves. Don't tell me it's impossible because you are incapable. That in fact enforces my point. That we don't deserve these nerfs because point blank not everyone is strong and overpowered. -
[ QUOTE ]
3. I think these changes are being implemented to keep people from herding dozens of baddies at once and to keep people from soloing AV's and +5 enemies.
[/ QUOTE ]
I can't do that with any of my toons, and I know plenty of people who can't do that with theirs, so my point is, why are we getting nerfed too? -
[ QUOTE ]
Fire,
Why should anything be nerfed to begin with? So what if someone knows how to slot their powers in order to solo an AV? More power to them. Who does it hurt? There's someone sitting at their keyboard with a smile on their face because they're doing something truly super. Who cares if someone can make it to 50 in a couple weeks, and starts over with a new character to do the same thing all over again? If it keeps them happy, why mess with it? They still pay every three months.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you had taken the time to actually read what I had said, I simply gave that as the most likely reason for these nerfs, and also we basically said exactly the same thing, which gives me hope because I'm not the only one who doesn't care if certain players can make uberHeroes. I also said that frankly I don't give a damn if someone can solo every arch villain in the game at the same time, it's nothing to do with me, and I CAN'T do that, so making me less powerful just takes away from my gaming experience, don't misconstrue what I said as having anything to do with ED being a good thing. I disagree with this completly. If I can afford SO's and my character build allows me to six slot a power and put in six damage SO's MORE POWER TO ME, I EARNED IT BY LEVELING AND SAVING MY INFLUENCE!! And that's how it should be. -
[ QUOTE ]
With Enhancement Diversification comes a benefit for ALL City of Heroes powers.
Every power, across the board, is getting a 13.33% reduction in its Endurance cost.
[/ QUOTE ]
The decreased endurance costs is only useful for people who took the fitness pool and six slotted stamina... but just so you know you are not treating these issues in the proper manner. Yet again, as was the case in I5 you are treating everyone like they are equals in the game instead of adjusting Power A for less damage, or Power B for slower recharge. But instead youre treating my controller, defender, blaster, and tanker like they are the same and need the same things to fight and be useful members of a team. What now for my healer with six slotted recharge on resurrection, the hero is already dead what does it matter if I resurrect him now or a minute from now? All it is is having to wait one more minute.
One thing that Enhancement diversification shouldnt have touched, move powers.... If I want to six slot super jump so I can jump really fast and really far, what is wrong with that? It's not allowing me to solo an AV or even a boss, super jump just makes traveling less tedious. And ok the discount in endurance corrects for stamina, but how about health? And what is this going to do to regen scrappers?? My regen scrapper has fast healing and recovery, but now both of those are going to become seemingly useless.
1) When there is a problem with one sect of one Archtype being to powerful, fix them, don't nerf EVERYONE
2) If one specific power is too powerful, FIX THAT, don't nerf EVERYONE
3) If something recharges too fast, increase its recharge time, not EVERYONES
Do you understand the point I am trying to make? Just because one type of tanker is more powerful than the other kinds doesnt mean you should nerf them all.
I understand you don't do this without reason. I get that there are certain people who aren't happy until they are level fifty and can solo every Arch villain you guys make, but ya know what, I don't care because they are a small percentage of the people that play this game. Let them get to fifty, with their perfect build, and then let them get their Peacebringer and Warshade to fifty, and then let them sit in Atlas while n00bs run around begging for influence from everyone over level twenty they see. What does it matter if they beat the game? Then they have nowhere to go but retirement under the Atlas statue, and someday I'd like to be able to at least see what a Peacebringer power set looks like, and I'd like to be able to play a Warshade.
I also agree with what other people have stated, there are certain things that I absolutely have to have in my character build otherwise very little can be accomplished. Id really enjoy having my healer with teleportation, leadership, stealth and flight for example, but I cant do that. I am forced into taking the fitness pool because otherwise I wont be able to counteract the effects of endurance costs and still heal efficiently, but I cant sacrifice the flight pool because for some reason a power that doesnt fight, and simply moves me from place to place has an outrageous endurance cost, or due to issue with lag, I would fall from the sky without hover while teleporting. Now hasten is beginning to become a requirement also because of double recharge times, and enhancement diversifying, so theres another power pool I have to take. All the choices there are in the power pools, yet we are so limited.
Many powers it makes no sense to slot anything other than one thing in it, because as others have said, certain enhancements make no noticeable difference in the powers. Its unnerving to be forced into using different enhancements when some of them make no sense, or make no difference.
