Detective Becktrees. I just hate that insufferable smile.

Quote:Thanks, for once your trope-mongering comes to be useful.Shooting from the hip, probably referring to Shaggy Dog Story or Shoot the Shaggy Dog.
Wow, Jack must have ruffled some feathers around the office back when he was the lead developer. -

Quote:Errmm.....I missed the memo: Since when is any one particular console game any type of worry that CoH has to steal its release date thunder?
It's like saying McDonalds is releasing the McRib Sandwich on a particular date because that's when a certain movie is being released.
Fixed for better relevance. While MMOs and console games are certainly different beasts, they aren't as far different as a sandwich and a movie are. -

Quote:You should have been here before the green and yellow lines were unified....I have knockback, and I'm not afraid to use it!
Also, Steel Canyon can be a tough place to solo the first time since it's the first zone you run into that's split between train stations and level ranges. It's easy in those zones to wander in the wrong direction and, though you started off with enemies your level, find yourself overwhelmed. I had a hard time in Steel Canyon too until I started looking at the map and going "wait, how'd I end up this far north?" -
Quote:Well, your power picks look fine. Maybe you're just letting the mobs get too close. Defenders are pretty squishy, and as such, should not let themselves be in melee range. Not at Level 8(Widow), not at Level 15(Defender). I agree more powers mean more options. I have all my options as slotted as I can. I don't have the Infamy/Influence to slot more. Hitting everything as it comes up. Not taking on more than one or two guys a time. Simple, basic, sensible. Hitting everything at the right times. I do not understand WHY I am dying, but I am. It's part of why I'm asking 'What am I doing wrong'?
Power picks:
Defender Build 1(Initial):
Cold Domination: Ice Shield, Glacial Shield, Infrigidate, Snow Storm
Radiation Blast: Irradiate, Neutrino Bolt, X-Ray Beam.
Speed: Flurry, Super Speed
Defender Build 2(Offence, after taking some licks):
Cold Domination: Ice Shield, Glacial Shield, Snow Storm.
Radiation Blast:Irradiate, X-Ray Beam, Neutrino Bolt, Electron Haze.
Leadership: Assault, Tactics
Most random packs here in Steel Canyon are twos and threes, sometimes four for Minions, one or two Lieutenants or Bosses. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong other than attacking in the first place. No difficulty mods. In the missions is hard too.
Maybe I'm missing something. -

I'm beginning to think that the forum server is patched together with Elmer's glue and duct tape.

I follow a strict non-rerolling policy for myself. So no.

Stereoscopic 3D hurts my eyes and gives me headaches. Never liked it.

Quote:"Any sufficiently advanced aliens are indistinguishable from God." - Michael ShermerI mean it's a false dichotomy in the sense that "if it's not science, it has to be magic." It doesn't have to be magic. That's why I brought up the Power Cosmic, which itself seems to overlap with magic and science and seems to go beyond both in particular ways. It's more akin to a kind of divine energy (although a science fictiony version of divine). And divine energy itself does not have to qualify as magic, although in some settings it does. In some settings, it does not.

I don't think they wanted you to think about it, I think they just wanted you to continue being free with whatever concept you had in mind.

Quote:You... don't read a lot of comic books do you? Most "science" in comics (such as turning into giant green monsters after being bombarded by gamma rays or gaining superspeed after being bathed in chemicals hit by lightning) outright break the known laws of physics in the real world.Whether the Well looks like a metal box or a Ming vase is irrelevant: either it functions according to scientific principles or it does not. If it does, its either Science or Technology. If it does not, its Magic.
By your definition, everything in comic books is "magic" and I'm pretty sure folks like Reed Richards or Lex Luthor would disagree with you.
True, it's fantasy science but that doesn't make it magic, it just makes it Did Not Do the Research, Didn't Care, and Rule of Cool.
Quote:By definition, if you can't explain it with Science, its Magic. If you can't explain it with Magic, its Magic you haven't learned yet.
