    So do they.

I avoided the D for a long time though and then when I started going back, turns out it wasn't as bad as I remembered. In fact, it was fun. New people to RP with and all that.

Edit: Forgot to say grats on the 50 and welcome aboard.
  2. We have to take a look at schedules and availability, but Rouge and I may be able to step up and make sure this goes ahead if ShadowWings can't. We'll keep people posted.
  3. Any chance we can find out which costumes people got the honourable mentions on the individual designs for?

I just blew half my inf on an AE contest, so yeah I love running things like this, though the amount I spent is about a tenth of what's up for grabs here. In fact, in the outside chance that I win something in this one, I've already got plans to throw it into another contest. If I'm not lucky enough to score anything, I might even throw up some of my remaining inf for one.

That's not true. I wish I had that much money to throw at a contest. It'd be awesome.

Actually, I've got to admit, making the same assumptions that you did, that I'm glad people who know what they're doing like Arcana get in well before I do. It's of massive benefit to the game that by the time I futz around with it and attempt to test by just playing the game, people who have actual skills have already done the hard work.
  7. There's a bartender that gets added as a store during the Spring event, though I'm not sure what the other co-op zone is. I'm only counting the D and RWZ.

It would be nice to see him in some high-end content though, even if it's only the way that we see Blue Steel, with a bit of an "OMG, COYOTE DID TISH AWSUM FING." in a mission dialogue.

Yeah, I've been checking the whole thing, though I think it's possibly time to accept that what so many people have told me in the past is correct and that I do, in fact, need to "get a life"

'As far as I know' is the part that worries me too. I guess at this point I should stop being an excited little kid, stop refreshing the forums and go back to my actual job.

  12. Agreed. Good luck to all! Can't wait to see the results. I'd also be interested if anyone wanted to post some non-competition additions.

With Statesman, I figured I'd move a bit further towards the Greek Warrior look. Kept the Super Strength and Invulnerability, just added a few things to boost them. After all what's more deadly than a Super-Strong Sword Wielder? I added in a bit of leather to add a more 30s feel to his costume and add some armour. I really enjoyed getting the stars on there and might have a go at a few more national heroes at some point.

The helmet was the tough part on this one. It took me a long time to work out exactly how I was going to do it without having him look exactly like my most recent armoured hero. I really liked the gold armour and wanted to add a bit more green to hint at the radiation.

Couldn't agree more. The whole thing has been great. I'm just that disappointed I didn't come up with a 3rd one for my second entry. Once I managed to settle on something I liked, Statesman and Positron came out really well. I might just post them anyway.
  15. Ok, time to stop lurking and actually post this stuff I've been mucking about with.

I started with the Back Alley Brawler. He's turning 50 in a few months, so I figured to celebrate I'd give him a little more grey. I tried to make him a bit more down to earth, give him some darker colours, more suited to beating people up in alleyways. The fists in particular have always bothered me. They're awesome and all, but the Back Alley Brawler has always seemed to be a guy who walked out of the PPD and onto the streets. Something impromptu like some chains he had lying around seem like the perfect thing for him to carry. For the record, I'd also make him Willpower, since he has no powers. Other than that, I didn't really change him a lot.

With Numina, I tried to start with hair and build outwards. With the hair I was trying to find something from the 60s, since that's what it would have looked like when she died. For scales, I tried to reimagine her as being slightly larger than the average athletic heroine, since a lot of her work is likely reading and studying. Not to mention that she could possibly fly using her magic. Why walk when you can prove power over gravity?

In terms of ghostlyness, She's as pale as I could get her without it looking too horrific. I ditched the purple, because even though it's neat and I'm risking making her another version of Swan, I felt the white was a better look for a ghost. I've also added the auras that I'd want her to have in the second shot, though it seemed like a shame to leave out the costume I'd made her, even if the auras do make her look awesomely ghostly in my opinion.

Ok. Manticore. I really do like the hood that people keep mistaking for hair, but I wanted to give him a bit less of a showy feel, since that's more Synapse's department. The secret identity part is well served by a low-slung hood, along with the mask and eyepieces.

As I was making this, it was feeling a little bit busy, but the more I considered his lack of powers, the more I wanted pouches and pieces of ad-hoc armour all over the place, wherever he could fit another one on. I wanted the flared boots because I never, ever get an excuse to use them. I wanted to add a bit more black to head back towards the same thing I was working on with Brawler. I figure Manticore strikes from the shadows, so a darker red might not go astray, especially when a bit more black is added. The laser sight bow is a bit of a standard for him, because it looks technologically advanced.

Citadel was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed experimenting with different pieces and the ability to give him a metal mohawk and claim it was some kind of vent was even more enjoyable. This design spawned something of a story. YOU WILL INDULGE MEH.

Synapse looked at Positron's latest work on Citadel over for the fifteenth time. The scientist and android looked at him anxiously, waiting for an opinion.

"It just seems like something is wrong." the speedster stated, a quizzical look on his face as he dashed a series of laps around Citadel. "It's like... won't the public think of him as a bit of a streaker walking around nude like this?"

Positron stared at his colleague, a serious look on his face. He tried to speak a few times, dumbstruck before finally managing to croak out ".. He's a robot"

Synapse dashed back and forth around the robot, darting from spot to spot. "So? This is the public we're talking about, not logical people. He needs cool pants and I know just the place to get them."

Citadel opened his newly redesigned mouth to speak for the first time. "This suggestion may indeed be an acceptable one. Purchasing clothing will give me a further opportunity to study humankind."

    -- hours later --

"No, no, no." Synapse shook his head with exasperation. "You need something cool. Something that will endear you to the public."
"How will I know if a garment is cool beyond my analysis of the thermal qualities?" the android asked, throwing another pair to one side, still confused at what he was supposed to be achieving.

A hand raised to Synapse's forehead. This brilliant idea was more frustrating than he was expecting. "Look... you just know, alright?"

Citadel frowned, getting his new mouth a little more under control. Just knowing was not quantifiable. He held up another pair. This one was a red pair with white flames dancing up the legs. "Is this... cool?"

Quicker than lightning a hand shot up, pointing at the latest pair and crackling with energy. "... That's perfect."

I know how you feel. I'm on Eastern Australian. I was close though.. so close. Actually, on second thoughts an hour and fifteen late is not close. It's far.
  17. Most likely, but I didn't have an easy way at hand to check the time in PST.
  18. I suspect I'm breaking the rules, as I think it might be well after 5pm PST, but oh well. I'm not some kind of time-knower.

    Sync Issues?

I'm still getting it fairly regularly, especially on Black Starbeam. I've also been just hitting my bind. Not hitting the bind basically had me rebounding every 10 seconds, with no actual resyncing until I got sick of it and just hit the bind after a minute.
  20. I'm just glad you guys remembered my birthday this year. You danged devs never get me anything, but this year you've delivered. Thanks guys!

  22. Base Repricing

    1) How will the repricing of bases affect you personally?

I should be able to upgrade my SG base to the secure version of the largest plot, and add in a few room types that have been sitting on the drawing board for a while. Hopefully it'll add some great spaces for members to roleplay in. I myself am practically salivating at the prospect of being able to put a Supercomputer back in. I really like it and all the stuff that can be attached to it.

    2) Will you dismantle your base to gain the additional prestige from the repricing?

Yes definitely. Not sure if I'll be destroying every room, but at least half of the base is going to get nuked and rebuilt. Deleting and rebuilding the generator room alone should save the 'Cips somewhere in the vicinity of 4 million prestige.

    3) How long would this process take you if you were to engage in this practice?

Rough guess, 24-26 hours of actual build time. Last time I built the Citadel from scratch I did a marathon of 18 hours, but we've expanded slightly since then. This doesn't take into account the time I generally spend in my test server base designing rooms before I set them up on live. That time varies depending on what I'm building.

    4) What are the positive and negative concerns regarding repricing?

Positive far outweighs the negative. Should be getting a bunch of extra rooms for members to RP in, allow for more space for people to have their own personal offices and generally take a lot of pressure off the people who have been grinding for our Danger room budget. I'm also quite keen to see what my coalitionmates do with their extra pocket money. One of my favourite parts of the game is watching other people base edit.

Negative is basically just me having a whinge. With all this extra money floating around big bases will be more common, so the Citadel becomes a little less special. I'm sure I'll get over it. :P The other negative is that reaching such a high end base leaves us with no expansion goals or room to grow.

    5) How will this feature affect you long term and short term?

Long term...with the information I have now, won't affect me much. I'm sure we would have gathered enough to get the extra rooms we wanted eventually. Of course, it might change things if there are more base items on the cards in future that I haven't heard about.

Short term its a very, very nice boost. I've been gathering opinions of members as to what they would like to see and use on our base in anticipation of i13.

Base Salvage Exchange to Invention Salvage

    1) What is the negative effect on your base for this feature implementation?

The stockpile of Unstable Rad Pistols that we spent months and months gathering for our danger room have now become pretty much useless. Also, while it may just be me shouting DOOOOOM I feel uncomfortable about the fact that this forces members to choose between the base and their own development. I'm not comfortable with the idea of poking people to give me salvage that may actually be of use to them.

Oh, and I've been told that the salvage racks hold 30 items. This really doesn't sound like enough capacity to me, though when it goes live it may turn out to be fine so...*shrug*

    2) What is the positive effect on your base for this feature implementation?

I'm not entirely sure that there is one. While I don't feel that the new feature will cause us any major setbacks, I doubt there is going to be any big benefit either.

    3) How long will it take you to adjust to learning this new system?

I don't believe it will take all that long. My counterpart has had a look at it on test for me, and at some point I intend to poke around with it myself, but from what's been described it seems fairly straightforward.

    4) What side effects to this system do you currently see from transitioning the old to new system?

The market is bound to change. Whether for better or worse is yet to be seen, but supply and demand are likely to go all over the place.

    5) What security concerns do you have regarding this change?

I and my co-leader are already rather wary about security after getting burned when some jerk decided to clean us out of all our enhancements, halloween salvage, components etc. I don't believe the change in the system will affect our way of handling access to our members.

    Additional Notes:

While I'm not sure that the changes to the salvage system are entirely necessary I'm delighted to see bases getting some attention. Hopefully this is just the beginning and we'll all get some new fancy items and styles to play around with.
  23. Man, this would be roughly the awesomest thing ever, assuming of course it were created. And kept the existing sounds. Especially so if "KLUDD" was a sound effect.

A shame, really. Of course, maybe if we whine hard enough.....
