Quote:Yeah, that Apex in Vanguard Armor picture made my eyes hurt.Totally agreed.
The Vanguard armor looks good with certain color combinations... and the red/blue on that picture of 'new' Apex looks horrid. He honestly looks as bad as the Merit Vendors (who I swear were designed using "Random").
Keep his established look. Just because he's helping Vanguard doesn't mean he has to dress in their armor. Case in point... ALL THE CONTACTS IN RWZ. None of them wear Vanguard armor. -
Quote:i just want the old "gliding patrol waddle" as an option for Sprint. Oh, and sky surfing for Fly.an unconfirmed feature in issue 20 requiring the extra testing are several extra sliders, similar to the 'mouse look' or 'turning' speed in the options menu geared towards run speed, jump height, and a toggle click for including a heavy limp as well.

Quote:Um, it was announced months ago that only the alpha slot would be available at the launch of the Incarnate system. Then several weeks ago Posi explained that the currently planned ten Incarnate levels would be released over several issues with more Incarnate levels/abilities to probably be added after that. For me it looks like they make Stamina inherent to make us busy discussing about it and then we forget I19 was Incarnates.
Now we got the Alpha slot with I19 and nothing else? About about the other 9 levels of Incarnates?
i know it's a pain having to wade through the Dev and Community Digests if you're not a frequent reader of the forums. Maybe someone could throw together a thread compiling all the public info on player Incarnates from the time the concept was announced by JE to the present.
*Glances at Zombie_Man because he's so good at this sort of thing* -
Apparently not according to the person i was replying to. i know full well that whether you call a defeat killing or not is usually left up to the player, but the poster i replied to was basically stating that Stalkers always kill. That, and only EEEEVIL people are stealthy. Neither of which is required by anything but their assumptions.
-
Quote:Yes it does.So are we getting more slots so we can slot the three powers we're going to take instead of these? Because if not, then making them inherent really doesn't change anything.
For me anyway.
It' not uncommon that there are pool powers i'd love to take that require minimal slotting that i just don't have enough pools to take. Or primary or secondary powers that are useful with only the base slot if a bit situational.
Revive, Hasten, Stealth, Combat Jumping, Super Speed... all useful even with just one slot. -
Quote:And i just built myself a system capable of running CoX with the settings cranked to high.Okay, slottable Fitness inherent at level 1 or 2, great. Now what's this about a *SIGNED* NDA? As in actually literally signed? Implies something BIG that they want testers to really understand to keep quiet about it. Let the rampant baseless speculation begin! ...again!
Though i dunno if i'll get into the beta. i'm not exactly a huge number cruncher, i just let others do the crunching and look over the results. Hell, i can't even guarantee devoting a lot of time to a beta anyway.
Still, the PAX announcements were a bit of a shock in a good way. -
Quote:In your lame opinion it's lame. Right, got it.i find something lame so im letting the person in charge of lame things know what i feel. sorry but im not the only one who finds things lame here at times.
"The Lead Designer also evaluates risk vs. reward, cool vs. lame, and attempts to incorporate ongoing feedback from the players about what features they want and what we, as a studio, can do from a technical or scheduling standpoint."
http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/g...nterview.html/
this new merit system is not fun. it is kinda lame. after taking my toons through the 11 alignment missions i found it quite boring and lame after the first couple times. then i decided to do the math again on hvam rewards and the time or time/cost vs reward does not match up.
these merits and just about everything in the game economy should be reevaluated and streamlined so its fun and not lame.
i think the prices are fairly reasonable.
So what if it's cheaper to buy some (respec, natch) recipes on the market than by using VampireHAMS? The same is also true for most recipes that can be purchased using regular merits.
But don't let that stop you. Quick, use lame again a few times to increase the amount of lame in your posts. (i'd forgotten that people still used lame. i thought it was a pretty dated term. Apparently it's coming back into vogue? *huh*) -
Quote:Many pool powers do well with a single slot, as do a number of primary and secondary powers. Take powers from a pool that you could never fit in before, or powers from your primary or secondary that had occasional utility, but were never worth the pick before. For builds that don't slot fitness powers I suppose it is a nice quality of life change.
I still plan on slotting the fitness powers though, which does open up a fair point brought up earlier. Yeah I have more powers to choose from, but I don't have enough slots to make them better.
Hell, many builds take one of the first two powers from the Fighting pool and never slot or use them. Do that if you want, but i'm going to like having the option of accessing an additional pool and/or taking powers that were situational and usually not worth the pick before. Or even just set mules. You can still put as many slots into Fitness powers as you want. -
Quote:Yes, they are enhanceable and you can add up to 5 additional slots to them, just like the current versions. The powers are all available either at level 1 or 2 (I forget at the moment) -- no waiting 'til 20 for Stamina.Quote:
*insert loud squeeeee here* -
*there's a droning noise as Schis passes overhead hanging on to the wingtips of a gayplane and heteroplane flying next to each other*
Ahoy! Couldn't find the biplane, so i improvised; and boy are my arms tired!
*lets go of the planes and plummets onto the top of the airship's gasbag with a FWOMP*
Right, now to find the galley. -
i'll probably take Hasten or Vengeance on several alts that skipped those before.

Quote:Um, i am having an Ultimo_ flashback here. Shields 3-slotted for end reduction, really?I'll even go out on a limb here: I have an Elec/ tank with all his shields three-slotted for Endurance, he can also replenish his Endurance at will.... and yet for all that Endurance is still a big issue for him and I would not strip Fitness off of him at the present time.
i have an Electric Armor brute with the not uncommon Brute playstyle where it's non stop violence to try to keep Fury as high as possible. i do this against even Carnies and when i was still mostly using generic IOs and SOs against said Carnies it had anywhere from zero to one endurance reducers in the armor toggles and never had issues with running low on endurance. Slotting more than one endurance reducer in any non-pool defensive toggle is generally a waste of slots in my opinion. Now i did have Stamina with two slots, but still... three slots devoted to end reduction in the toggles? Really? Is this tanker under level 12? -
Quote:Villains like, say, Moon Knight, Batman, The Shadow, Invisible Kid, Robin, and dozens of others. A Stalker using Martial Arts is no more likely to be killing his targets than a Scrapper using a Broad Sword. Certainly he'd have an easier time avoiding killing by not using a sword. The difference between killing and arresting is determined by the player. Game mechanic wise there is no difference.Or, you know, you can judge people by their actions. Hey look, he arrests and can go all stealthy. Not only does that say stalker, to me it screams villain.
Quote:Yes, I firmly believe heroes don't kill... and if you're ever roleplaying with me, that aspect of being a hero is pretty much ingrained into all my heroes. Want to kill but still want to be heroic? Maybe you should move on to the vigilante alignment... or at least argue that you're of that mindset even if your alignment doesn't seem to match your behavior. -
Quote:No, it's your fault for repeatedly alleging that anyone who didn't agree with you was stupid, incompetent and didn't see the horrible issues with making Fitness inherent. Horrible issues that you then failed completely to articulate. And yes, when saying a game mechanic change is a bad thing, it really does help to give some numbers to support your opinion.Thought at least someone else wouldn't like this change :\ My fault for being toasted/saying I was displeased. Go ahead with the dev love :P I don't have facts to support my dread.
You're welcome to your opinion, but that doesn't mean everyone is required to say nothing when your entire argument supporting it was basically that everyone else is dumb.
Personally i'm intrigued by the implications of this change, but i won't be sure that it's totally good from a game balance perspective until i know more about the details of the change and how it works out in actual practice. -

Quote:The "right forum posts" being any that you agree with?I just wish the devs could read the right forum posts. I happen to blame a lot of the crap that's come out recently on the forums.
I enjoy gr, I still dislike it as a whole, but I enjoy it.
Eh, i don't see Fitness as necessary, but i will admit that most of my alts do end up taking it. As long as they're still slottable i'll manage to cope with Fitness powers becoming inherents.
Any news about the emote pack or tweaks to Gravity Control and Trick Arrows? <.< -
Quote:i second that interpretation. The way I understand it:
I19 will be on the "normal" Test Server. Maybe Open Beta even. I19 will be released this fall.
I20 will be on the Going Rogue Test Server. It will be closed beta, with signed NDAs. I20 will be released next year obviously.
Both betas can be run at the same time if it works like that. -
Note: i do not actually mean to imply that GG uses meth or is a meth addict. i am referencing the binging behavior common to (non-specific) drug addicts when they have a sizable quantity of their substance of choice on hand, and not actually claiming that GG gets a high from her use of emoticons. (Although that would explain a few things.)

i found Fire/SD quite playable at the lower levels.
Just plain deadly at the higher levels as well. -

Quote:*psh* Mentioning facts has no effect on quelling rampant speculation. The markets have always been cross server, and don't display your character name/global/anything about who you're buying from or selling to.
In fact i will speculate that we'll be getting comic pages with our characters as the stars being automatically generated as part of the new loading screens.
And a Moon Base. Which is obvious from the posted pictures for some reason. Yeah. <.< -
Quote:Pretty much. i treat it as just being bottled water. Or vodka. Or whatever you'd drink in a clear bottle. The label's small and it's easy enough to note that that's not actually an Enriche label. A lot of the emotes have small details that don't necessarily match exactly what you're using them to represent. That doesn't make them less useful for conveying the feeling you want.I was going to use it in the D because one of my characters always drinks bottles of water and that looks stupid when you just use /drink and a pint glass turns up in your hand. >_>
Bloody hell, RP is all about "let's pretend together". If you can't pretend that the tiny label says something different then you're doing it wrong.
