Quote:Actually, i can see DR being implemented for the newer Incarnate content, if not to the game in general. The last official Dev word on DR that i recall reading stated that it would not be added to older PvE content, but might be used in new content. IIRC the Incarnate abilities that were tested in the GR beta allowed characters to partially bypass ED for specific attributes.I think all this talk about adding DR to PvE is mostly just deliberate rumormongering by disgruntled PvPers demonstrating yet again why they are not a popular group; not something to be taken as a serious possibility.
i could see a less severe version of DR being used in PvE as beneficial from a balancing standpoint. As crazy theories go it has a certain appeal.

Quote:Same here. Awesome looking power*, but it sucked to do so little damage for the time it took. Although i would love to have the kicking animation as an alternate animation for Shadow Maul. No, the animation was long for the amount of damage it did. I had it on my earliest MA/SR scrapper.
I got tired fanning bosses with my foot, glad they changed it.
*Based on vague, years-old memories. YMMV -
Quote:This i agree with. That's completely asinine. Anyone I see doing that will get a nice lil note, one star, and never invited to any team I'm a part of again. Heck, i'll probably report them (which is something I rarely do), as it's a clear form of harassment.
Anyone who likes the pack as is, and thinks it's worth the $8 bucks to them, should be allowed to do so with no repercussions. -
Quote:So the only way to know how succulent baby meat burgers would actually sell is to sell them? Yes, i know a lot of market research is bunkum, but this position seems absurdly to the opposite extreme from having blind faith in marketing surveys.Wait, are we supposed to suddenly start taking the threats and complaints of forumgoers as some kind of gospel truth?

I ascribe to that old saying 'the proof of the pudding is in the eating'. The only way for them to know how an $8 booster full of emotes would actually sell was to offer a booster full of emotes for $8.
Quote:They engaged the complaints about the Mutant pack because what was delivered was counter to longtime forum expectations. With this pack, it seems pretty cut and dried- "here's a pack of emotes for 8 bucks". If they thought it would sell better at a lower price point they'd have released it at a lower price point. If they wanted to broaden its appeal by sticking in some costume bits or a power, they'd have done so.
The way things have played out leads me to the rather inevitable conclusion that *someone* wanted to see what kind of reception a narrowly focused pack would get.
*shrug*
To me the most surprising thing is that i and many others have posted that they would've purchased this pack at half its price point. Seriously, creating costume pieces and new powers (with unique animations) must require less than 5% of the development budget that porting/recreating NPC animations as emotes for PCs does for the party pack's price point to make sense. -
Neither for me. Just a slight sense of disappointment that i'll never get to see the gems that the Devs will receive. If they're anything like what i've come to expect they should be gems of semi-incoherent flawed logic and baseless assertions.

Quote:*heh* Good try, but not quite there.Probly. The devs find it perfectly fine to require Rare salvage for really crappy recipes. So it should be no suprise when every recipe requires rare salvage and the big 4 to require all rare salvage to complete.
And yet after all this time i'm still rooting for you to one day make a worthwhile post. You can do it! -
Quote:Sands of Mu is an effective attack for many low-damage controllers all the way to 50. Of course, many controllers have a -Defense power from their primary or secondary to help it hit more often. My Ice, Earth and now Electric controllers use it often. Most of them have a power like Freezing Rain or Radiation Infection to make it easy to hit the foe.
Of course, Controllers don't have to worry about the long animation since the foe is usually held when it is used.Quote:Something worth mentioning about Sands of Mu as well is that it still does full damage during a Rage crash, making it a great filler to keep your Fury level up during the crash and still dealing a little damage. Its animation time is not quite long enough to fill the entire crash period (10 secs I believe), but its better than nothing, hehe.
So if you have a Super Strength toon, I'd highly recommend that you take Sands of Mu for just that reason, even if you don't ever use it aside from during a Rage crash. -
Quote:No, i didn't. Especially not the fire hose. A firehose is a continuous stream, but if you are directing it at an open window or a solid wall, barring being right up against it, the same amount of pressure still pushes back. Try it with a garden hose if you don't have a higher pressure hose handy. The stream from a hose pushes back with the same force regardless of whether you aim it at a wall, an open window, or a curtain. To get additional force from a stream hitting a surface you need to be close enough that the stream material itself is bouncing back to hit you.Bullets aren't connected to the machine gun but Cyclops' blasts are shown as a continual beam. And pointing a fire hose at a wall will absolutely cause pressure to force the nozzle (i.e. his head) backwards.
I could be missing details about Cyclops but you picked a couple really bad examples for making your point.
You picked some really bad thinking to justify your assumptions.
Cyclops' blasts also ricochet, so you're saying they're some kind of rigid, yet also bouncing, energy rod that acts like a solid object except when it doesn't.
Edit: In any event, Cyclops and his eye beams don't follow the normal rules regarding action and reaction in that he doesn't crush his eyes into jelly or snap his neck whenever he blasts... well... almost anything more durable than cardboard box. Say he blasts a car and either sends it flying or causes it to blow apart... That's tens of thousands of pounds of force being exerted upon his eyes and/or head and neck if there's any real recoil. Comic book physics is very situational and is bound more by the rule of cool than anything else. -
Quote:Logical. For example, if you fire a machine gun at an object that's too hard for the rounds to penetrate it sends the machine gun flying backwards. Same thing that happens if you accidentally direct a fire hose at a wall instead of the window: the whole truck gets pushed away. One of Cyclops' signature tricks is to ricochet the blast off multiple surfaces. It should rock his head back for every bounce. Totally reasonable.Another example, if Cyclops runs across an object that his optic blast cannot break through or move, he should be thrown backwards when he tries it.
Quote:That's probably the easiest flaw to point out in most fighting animes, and in a field that gets as goofy as this, that's saying a lot.
I think what a lot of anime fights look like is card games, because that's where some of the oldest ones actually come from.
Anyway, i appreciate the use of both big cowboys and simple explosions in the game depending on my mood. -
Quote:It seems that people are forgetting that booster packs are NOT required for regular gameplay.Quote:First post i've seen in either thread about that ^ !
...this is all about content/price/possible new trend/lack of communication from the dev's plain and simple!
i still fail to see what harm there is in people posting that while they won't buy a pack of 8 emotes for 75% of the cost of a booster pack that came with 4 emotes, dozens of costume pieces, and minor power, they would buy it if it was priced at 50% of what the prior packs cost.
And yet some posters insist that everyone should STFU unless they're either going to post constructive comments/criticism regarding the pack or report bugs with it. Since posting "I would consider buying the pack if it was about 50% instead of 75% of the price of the other packs for roughly 10% of the content of previous packs" isn't constructive criticism then apparently the only valid 'criticism' is to post "OMG I love pack, sell me more like it, but raise the price first!"
Anything else is simply unacceptable, and those telling everyone who doesn't love the pack to shut up probably can't figure out why no one is obeying them and are probably also wondering why all the posts saying the price seems a bit high for what you get aren't being immediately deleted by the mods. Life is just unfair sometimes.
Keep in mind that NCsoft and Paragon Studios are not directly analogous to a massive retail chain store that buys bulk lots of goods from factories and sells them at a markup. The Walmart analogy is a craptastic analogy since Walmart doesn't make the products they're packaging and selling.
Ah well, carry on. -

Uh oh, i said his name didn't i?

Moving on... it's worth noting that the most common versions of 1337 used "7" as a "T". (Thus it traditionally being written as "1337".) So the one team member's name would usually be read as "Teat Heaters". Just sayin'... -

*shrug* Yeah, pretty much the same here. i can't say that i'm especially upset by the pack being offered. There's a couple emotes in it i wouldn't mind having, but i don't want them badly enough to spend $7.99 on them. Still, if other people think the price is worth it then more power to them.
Oh, and nice Cwen's Quest banner. Is that a new one? i don't recall seeing it before. -
"Re: Anyone Want To Play a Storyarc With Custom Characters?"
Yes, on occasion i do. Fortunately that's what you'll find in most of the story arcs in the AE, so i can get that i want at any time with an incredibly diverse array of plots, writing, and custom characters to boot. You should go check it out some time. -
Quote:No.Does this mean that we will get health and stamina as inherent powers but can also choose them as pool powers therefore getting a double benefit?
Getting Fitness as inherent means the pool can no longer be selected.
As long as you don't respec, your current builds with Fitness as one of your pools will remain, but there's no sane reason to leave them that way unless you just don't want to be able to pick another pool and/or three to four more powers for some reason. -
Quote:But it's not the same %'s. At all. With the "fix" that took place with BotZ, will the same happen to Kin Coms? I mean, 3 vs 4 and the same %'s, what do ya think?
Bonuses to two positions in 3 slots is not even close to the same % as a bonus to one in 4 Slots. It's twice the % in one less slot. Add in the highly desirable KB protection as one of the slots and it's even less of a comparison. Your math, not good. -

Quote:The PEATs will be a new AT: Buffing/Orbital Guardian.Guess I'll have to say it..... PEATs, Praetorian Epic Archtypes.
They'll be able to choose one of several buff/debuff sets as their primary, but the secondary be an orbital cannon themed attack set. The majority of attacks are AoE with mez/debuff secondary effects. PEAT BOGs will in some ways have aspects of the VEATs, and in other ways use HEAT mechanics. -

Well, the proc affects the power's target. In the case of Stamina that's you... But as i recall it doesn't work with Stamina anyway. Best use i can think of is in powers like Power Sink, Transference, Lightning Storm and (i wish, because it's funny) Speed Boost.

Another Avast user here.
i also generally use Spybot S&D, or did; on the new system i just have Avast right now. -
