So it seems that there was no reason to use closed beta info to make the patch/mod to Mids'.

Unless of course the values have actually been changed in the closed beta version of inherent Fitness and the Mids' mod uses those. That would be a bad thing to incorporate, especially considering that values in beta are always open to being changed.

No, i'm not saying you don't know anything, but i am saying you don't know how to play this game well, and apparently something about its mechanics makes it so that you can't easily learn.

In THIS thread, I've offered no evidence of anything, I've offered only my opinion on a new change. You're still arguing another thread. In that thread I said that the tools that are available to mitigate the impact of endurance on gameplay are insufficient in my opinion.

I don't see how questioning and attacking my integrity, my knowledge and experience and my motives can be taken as anything but a personal attack.

I'll say it again, I'm not against this change. There's lots of good that will come of it. I just think it's a bandaid that leave the real problem unfixed.

    AGAIN, just my opinion.
And in my opinion you're wrong. And that's speaking as someone whose current projects include levelling up a KM/DA Scrapper.

And yes, my opinion of your opinions is colored by your past assertions and threads where your supporting evidence involved scenarios that simply were not possible in this game being offered as proof of your correctness. So i tend to distrust any of your assertions on their face. Past behavior is generally a good barometer of present and future behavior unless something suggests that there's been a change. And in the past some of your assertions about endurance use have been so far from correct that they weren't even wrong.

i also agreed during your last crusade to have the game remade in your image of it that Defenders could use slightly better DPE, especially solo, as have many others, and that has been increased, but really it seems more like you simply don't want endurance to function as a limiting and balancing mechanism in the game at all. On that point i disagree.

Not a Dev post i take it? No idea offhand, but i know several posters have suggested things like that in the past. Recently even.
  5. Interesting little bug i found by rearranging a character's Inspiration tray while logging out.

If you're dragging an inspiration (sm. yellow in this case) just as the logout timer ends it's no longer possible to click a button or change fields in the login screen. Your little hand is stuck clutching the inspiration and can no longer click on anything but the account name field.

Like a monkey with it's hand in a cookie jar.

Okay, i'm now even more impressed with the commitment of a group who put this sort of work into a freely distributed player resource for a game. That's dedication.

This is done this way so that you are not stuck on a Story Arc, or are missing a vital Temp Power needed later on in the mission chain, etc.
    * In order to drop a mission, you must be the mission owner, and you can talk to the Contact that gave you the mission. If the mission is droppable, an option to drop it will appear.

There are a few caveats to the Mission Dropping Feature:

    * You can only drop one mission every 7 days with this feature. If you need to clear a mission, but have already used this feature in the past 7 days, you will need to contact Customer Support as normal.

    * You can not drop timed missions.
    * You can not drop missions that are part of a Task or Strike Force.
    * You can not drop missions that give badges as Mission Completion rewards.

    * Some other missions are marked as "undroppable." These are missions that have rewards that are well above average.
    * You will not be given the choice at all to drop missions that are undroppable. You will need to contact Customer Support in order to clear these missions.
    * If you are on a team with someone who drops a mission, you will receive no rewards for the mission.
    * Missions that are dropped are logged so we can more easily debug bugged missions.
    Master-Blade supplied the relevant notes.

Honestly, i still feel he did some extremely good work here, and it's my opinion that the new company he's working for could really use him. The animation team that's here now has also been doing great work, so it's not like he left PS without a good animation team.

That is beyond awesome if it's true.

Read the comic preview, and the entirety of this thread. Honestly, this GN seems like it may be worth picking up. Not that i consider JMS a god of comics literature (i'm more likely to pick W(f'in)E for that), but this looks like it may be quite good.

Yeah, this is exactly what I was thinking I'd do.
I'll probably port over a few, to get me started, but everything will be in two different folders/directories.

Not much of a problem really.
Maybe, down the road, an updated Mid's will be able to handle old/pre-I19 builds with Fitness Pool.
On the other hand, i may just do all my builds over from scratch when i respec out Fitness anyway, so a clean start isn't so bad. The main reason i keep old builds saved is that there's occasionally a bit of slotting i liked in the old build and i can go back and look at it. That and occasionally i look at a character's slotting and go, "What the hell was i thinking?!" Then i go look it up in Mids'... "Oh, right. Still not what i would do now."

Edit: Just for the record, i love Mids' for designing builds and really appreciate everyone's work in keeping it current.

Yep, I figure I'm not in the majority here, and as I say, there's a lot to like in this. However, of all the issues with endurance I see, this doesn't really address many of them.

    Just my opinion, of course.
Ultimo_, i know you can't and won't understand this, but it's not simply a personal attack. If someone kept posting that mob damage needs to be cut in half in almost every thread they posted in because all of their Tanker's defenses were usually slotted with nothing but endurance and recharge reducers and then assert their Tankers died in every fight in less than half the time any Tanker would with no defenses did in all other players' tests, and when told how to slot effectively insisted that they shouldn't have to slot like that... Well, if you saw them post the same basic assertion again and again and again would you pretend this was the first time they'd posted anything like that, or would you point out that they've been doing it for a long time, and have been demonstrably wrong all the previous times?

Most of us would do the latter, even though of course the person in question would see it as a personal attack.

The simple fact is that you have almost no useful understanding of the game's mechanics and balance. You have demonstrated time and time again that you don't care to know either, you just want to build a particular type of character and the actual game's balance mechanics and design goals be damned, you'll keep insisting the game should be changed to accommodate your desires regardless of whether it's compatible or balanced with the rest of the game's mechanics.

Whenever anyone points out that with a little effort it's possible to achieve what you want within the game's design anyway you simply insist you should have everything you want handed to you with no skill or effort required on your part.

Frankly, it's probably only a matter of time until someone links and/or quotes the dozen or so previous threads where it was explained, in detail, why what you want is undesirable (and unnecessary when a little knowledge about and skill with the game that's actually here is used).

Frankly, it's the fact that your past "evidence" has turned out to be absurd exaggerations or outright lies that are not possible within the actual game that has made it so that i can no longer take you at all seriously. Multiple players, including myself, have attempted to verify your past assertions and have demonstrated that they are either flat out wrong or only accomplished by actively sabotaging yourself. This is only a personal attack in the sense that you are being held accountable for what you have posted in the past and continue to post now.

If anyone else would care to do the honors and present some of that history i would be much obliged... Personally i don't have the patience or stomach for that Carnival of Wrong anymore.

Now, I'm sure my usual detractors will think me delighted with this, but I'm afraid I'm not. I'll explain why.

As I've said elsewhere, Endurance management is far too onerous. It undermines the enjoyment of the game. It's most noticeable at lower level, prior to Stamina, but it doesn't exist ONLY there. Part of the reason for this is that the ATs and Power Sets are not balanced for endurance use. As an example, consider the Defender and Blaster power sets for Energy Blast. The Defender version does less damage, but uses the same endurance. Certain ATs suffer more than others for this (eg. Tankers and Defenders).

However, their method of dealing with the problem is far from ideal.

First, it does nothing for characters that have Stamina anyway. That is, higher level characters that suffer endurance issues despite Stamina will see no difference in their play.

Second, it does nothing to address the disparity between ATs and Power Sets.

Third, it forces Hurdle and Swift on people. Since these are Autopowers, we can't turn them off, even if they're inappropriate to our character concepts.

All this does is help lower level characters with endurance issues. As I say, it's a laudable goal, but it's not the right way to go about it. What they should have done, and it would be a half measure as well, in my estimation, is simply raise the global recovery rate. That is, EVERYONE would recover endurance faster. Those with Stamina at L20 would recover it EVEN FASTER than that, perhaps to the point of not needing to worry about endurance unless faced with sappers or very long fights.

It hasn't gone live yet, but I hope they'll reconsider this.
WHEEEEE! Ultimo_'s back and nothing's changed!

Yeah, you'll notice that he just stopped posting when dozens of people started posting about their real world knowledge and experiences regarding networks and latency. No mea culpa, no admission that he might not have had all the facts, just silence. i'm pretty confident that he's still convinced he was right despite all the testimony and explanations to the contrary and will make the same uninformed assertions in a few months when he thinks people have forgotten.

Despite the fact that the internet will still work just the same as it does now, which is not at all how he thinks it does.
  16. Nice heads up. i was planning to just keep 50+ old builds around for reference when making new post fitness builds, but maybe i'll just delete the directory and start over. Possibly i could find an older version of Mids' and install it elsewhere for reference access.

Of course it's my habit of generally redoing builds from scratch and just glancing at the old builds for reference that's causing the issue in the first place.

Well, that's not quite accurate. The amount xp lost to the damage done by confused enemies is a fraction of what you would lose to an unteamed player's damage.

    Per the wiki:
An enemy defeated entirely by Confused critters is worth no experience. An enemy that's partially damaged by Confused critters is worth partial experience. However, the split is not perfectly proportional, like it is when multiple competing teams fight the same enemy. When a Confused critter damages another, only 1/4 of its damage counts toward "stealing" experience. The other 3/4 is removed from the target's maximum health before comparing how much damage everyone dealt to it.
  18. Yes. Easily. But then i found that mission much easier to complete than reading your OP.

Honestly, if i'd had teleport on the alt that ran it last it would've been even easier than it was, but teleport doesn't fit the character's concept. Teleport and Hover/Fly are the two easiest methods of dealing with KoA, with Teleport being the leader in ease.

Of confuse. Confuse against KoA is hilarious.

  20. See, i thought a pacifist was opposed to violence in general, not simply avoiding committing violence with their own hands.
"No, I didn't decapitate that dude, i sharpened my buddy's sword, juiced him with steroids and had him do it for me. After all, I'm a pacifist."
So, no, a useful pacifist in the context of this game is not possible.
