  1. I'm going to invoke the Babbage rule where GMs count double and go to:

    Paragon Dance Party!
  2. Actually there are a lot of rules.

But nobody actually knows any of them
  3. Bravo.

We should make a Paragon Crescent variant
  4. Hmmmmmmmm clever. Very sneaky.

I invoke the Queensbury rule 14a, subsection ii and....

Thank you very much. I did do some writing for the show and those jokes were some that actually got picked up, I think for the 2005 season. Of course I have re-written them for COH.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well let's hope you get to write some more.

I can't help feeling that Humph's boots are a bit too big to fill, sadly.
  7. Not saying he has to play the game a certain way but don't expect things to change to suit his play style. He's made a choice that he's going to limit his teaming options, but why should valuable dev time be used to cater to his needs compared to the bulk of the player base? As things stand you CAN play the game solo, but you have to make adjustments to do so. I just don't think you need to make more adjustments to make it easier for people to do that.

Sure, but it would be nice if they gave us some REALISTIC armour options for medieval in-game. The current 'medieval' armour looks HORRIBLE, something no real knight would even dream of wearing.
Besides, there are still examples of medieval stuff in superhero/villain things. Captain America wears scale mail for heavens sake, theres other examples but my brain is on the fritz right now...
Anyway, just because AoC and WoW have them doesnt mean we shouldnt. We can do it better!

    [/ QUOTE ]

My objection isn't to the armour or mail clad heroes. Yes there are plenty of superhero examples including Black Knight, Valkyrie and even Conan himself has been known to grace Madison Avenue. That's before we even think about Dr Victor von Doom. That said I think some of the armour's a bit clunky but perfectly acceptable. But, I don't think this game needs a "medieval zone." There's a lot more "mainstream" comicbook stuff they can add. I'm probably on the same page as Mr Marvellous, sure they can do that when they've done everything else.

Oh and Cap only wore scale mail when the artist felt like it but if you notice it never seemed to tear up as scale male would

    VO:
We present I'm sorry, I haven't a blue. The antidote to Superhero MMO games. At the piano is DJ Zero and your chairman is Rockjaw.

    ROCKJAW:
Hello, you join us this week in Independence Port, a fine city zone boasting a long and fascinating history. IP owes much to it's maritime heritage. By the 14th century the city was already trading with Spain, Portugal and Iceland with ships returning with fine wine, intricate lace work and frozen peas.

In the 18th Century Independence Port was the hub for industrial transportation. Barges, toed by horses would take supplies up and down the coastline and in to the city. They were later changed to steam power when it was discovered that so many of the horses drowned.

Earnst McGlider, the famous scientist, invented the fizzy drink here by forcing large quantities of Carbon Dioxide gass in to water. He gave it to many friends who trumpeted his achievements around the city.

Independence Port was also the home to drug addled rocker Rick Dangerous. Rick was the front man for the heavy metal group Daft Leper before starting out on a successful solo career. So Rick, if you're listening, that's who you are.

IP is also known for it's compliment of wild Cuckoos, track by the Cuckoo Society who have there base in the north part of the city. It's actually a branch of Icon but whenever they go out to lunch they come back to find that the Cuckoo Society has moved in.

And speaking of unwanted visitors trying to get something for nothing... lets meat the teams.

To my left is Ghost Widow and Lord Recluse and to my right is Sister Psyche and Statesman.

And carefully positioning her comfortable seat on my left hand and preparing herself for some hot scoring action, please welcome the ever fragrant, delightful Avatea.

I salute you. The rest of the world will probably tell you to sod off tho

But it'd add even more variety - if we have time travel in the game, then we surely should have zones for the periods we can travel to.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's plenty of comic/superhero stuff they can add without kshites in nining armour. We don't need that and if you are into that, go play AoC or WoW
  11. [ QUOTE ]
Sure villain side I can get a character to level 10 in one evenings play, but hero side it take me 2 or 3 nights. Only ever gotten 2 heroes past 14 before they became to boring to play.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I suspect this is the nub of the problem. It's not the travel powers that are boring it's how you perceive the game.

I dislike your suggestion so won't support it

    50+ mil, NO TY.

Bottom line is if you want it bad enough you'll pay.

Failing that farm a bucketload of merits and get the ones you need

Hush now, you know it'd be awesome

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not in a comicbook/superhero genre game. It'd just regress to the standard Sword & Sorcery carp of any other MMO.

One of the strengths of this game is that it's so well plugged into it's genres already. Sure there's scope for other stuff, the Undersea kingdom of Namor/Aquaman, or the jungles of the Savage Land etc, and definitely the space station/moon base... but please NEVER a medieval zone.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
Save the dragon for the medieval time travel zone

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Ugh, please no!
  15. I think from reading this thread I'm getting the impression that Grinning Spade wants his cake and to eat it too. The XP from high mobs without the challenge of the EBs.

This game has become more and more dumbed down since NCSoft took over the IP - arguably before then too - but it doesn't need any more dumbing down and sure you can solo but this game is an MMO. If you want to get a game you can solo, then why not get an offline game? One of the major points of an MMO is that you can enjoy the team experience it seems to me, and each AT is designed to work in tandem with others. If that weren't the case there'd be one AT, a form of blappempath.

If you aren't managing to do EBs solo then get a team, or change your AT, or lower your difficulty.

New mod directive folks - off-topic is allowed!

No, no, no... we're only allowed to talk about talking off-topic.

Do we have to do it without Repetition, Hesitation and Deviation as well?

Do we only have a minute?

Are you intimating that Avatea's really Samantha?
  17. Yeps checking in again!

    Glad to see you back
  18. Are such things available?

I got the feeling they were but I was searching all over the other day and couldn't find. Do I need more than I have?

Any info would be gratefully wossnamed

But it's still the Council - they're very common in Paragon City - I mean an organization that's almost totally invisible in the zones.

thats right I always play the 'You Only Live Twice' soundtrack when i do Hess jst for the Volcano base assault at the end!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, I'd like a Bond-style supervillain in the game - I think the nearest we have right now is Countess Crey, who has the whole megacorp/private army thing going on - although it's till too integrated into Paragon City - what we really need is a supervillain with little or no superpowers who operates from a remote lair, like a volcanic island out in the Pacific somewhere, who has a private army, but they're only in that zone and not in the normal city zones.
You could encounter his agents on missions in the city, but they wouldn't be seen as mobs in the actual zones.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Youv'e almost got that with the Council and the Hess trial might be a dead ringer for that.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
AVs aren't immune to end drain, just highly resistant and/or have larger pools (I can't remember which it is). I've been on a team with my Elec/Elec/Mu Brute that's managed to drain Nictus Romulus and keep him empty.

    [/ QUOTE ]

fair comment but if you're doing it on your own you'll rarely ever make a dent in an AV/GM
  23. The beautiful thing about an Elec/Elec/Elec blaster is that they are something of a jack of all trades.

The DPS of Elec isn't brilliant but you get 2 excellent holds in Tesla Cage & Shocking Bolt, and a couple of great AoEs, and the End Drain.

Slotting everything for End drain will gimp your damage for not much benefit but a good couple of holds, followed up by some good end drain.

Word for the wise: The End drain component has been neutered in PVP, so you won't rate it so much but in PVE it's a lot of fun.

Don't expect miracles, but if you work with a Kin who likes to spam Transferrence, only AVs and GMs will be immune to your drains
