  1. Woot is back? I rejoice!

Pengi and Woot have both been muchly missed.
  2. I apologize in advance for my ignorance, but this is the first I've heard of Tier 5 pool powers.

Are these for real? If so, is there a list somewhere?

    3. Jump out of Spawn and open up with Full Auto & Flamethrower
Sounds good. While I'm in there, is trip mine worth doing or is that pretty much a waste of time once the fight has started?

Makes perfectly reasonable sense, to me!

This isn't really the end of the world, sure it can be a bit depressing but just remember, the AV fight is where you will shine.
Nah, not to depressing. I want to be as effective as I can be, but I don't need to be my team's VIP. I'll just insist we play AV missions at +4. Then they'll love me. :P

  5. Hey all!

Let me just say, I don't play defenders often. I'm used to affecting the outcome of a fight - be it with damage or control - by directly attacking the many fiendish foes! Because of this, I'm having a bit of an issue with my defender.

Bulletmonk is a level 47 Traps/Dual Pistols defender. He's soft-capped with Melee, Ranged and AoE defenses and has all of his primary and secondary powers except time bomb. He also has all of the leadership powers.

My question is: what is my role on teams? His DPS seems lower than necessary to be effective, and traps take a while to deploy. When teaming with 50's (especially incarnate ones), his presence seems moot. I know the combination isn't ideal and he'll never be any sort of min-max character, but how would YOU play the character? What strategies would you use in a team? Which ammo type would you use?

Any insight would be appreciated. Right now, I mostly toggle on all of the leadership toggles and keep forcefield generator deploy. If a mob is large, I might drop poison trap. If it's an AV, I'll drop acid mortar, too. Otherwise, I just unleash all my AoEs and go from there.
  6. And lastly, The Alpinist. The artist, bless his heart, decided to do a little bit extra for Alpinist free of charge:

I'd like to thank Daggerpoint and Eddy Swan both for all their hard work!!
  7. Annnnd here they are:

    Valiant Katana

    Omission

    Kitai

    Eightpence

    Alarcity
  8. Well, he's done! he's just tweaking the colors between them so that the scheme is more uniform, but here's a sample of how it's progressing:

  9. Number 6:

Alarcity has been with the Codex Paragon division since its most recent reformation. A warlock of great power, it is ever unclear to her teammates if Alarcity is motivated by compassion or if her allegiance is merely a ruse in her quest for more power.

Never a shoulder to cry on, she distances herself from the rest of the team. However, not a soul in the Codex doubts her competence in the field. For pure, merciless firepower, few can compare.
  10. Number 5 (yes, we did commission a guy!):

The Alpinist hails from a different era of superheroes, where the lines between right and wrong were more defined. Over time, he's adapted to the shades of gray quite well and now operates as one of the leaders of the shadow organization known as the Codex.

His warm smile tends to offset his icey powers, and his charisma is that of a true leader. Still, when trouble approaches, there are few lines he wouldn't cross to protect the city.

I know! I can't wait for the coloring to start.

Oh, and for those interested I've added the micro-bio for Valiant Katana (the third one).
  12. And for number 4! Wow, Dagger is plugging away at these...

Kitai is the Codex's ever-mysterious hunter. Her tracking skills are as keen as her blade and few know the woman's past or true motives. Still, she has risen through the ranks and now helps lead the Codex Paragon division with quite calm and unflinching determination.
  13. Annnnnd Number 3: Valiant Katana

For most, what you see is what you get when you come across Valiant Katana, the newest addition to the Codex Officer rank. Until now, her ice cold exterior has kept her alive. But the Codex seeks more.

A far cry from her past as a Knives assassin, Sonja finds herself responsible for the lives around her, her teammates. Some of whom have managed to work their way past that icey exterior.
  14. Hey Flash!

That's a shame! Your work looks so good and not everyone checks dA. Still, I hope you're having fun with the 30 days of Codex art. I'm such a fan of what you've been doing.
  15. Thanks all for the comments so far!

Of course, such magnificent line art DOES need to be colored. For these gals (well, gals + guy), it's going to be nothing but the best. I've commissioned Eddy Swan to color all six pieces!
  16. Number 2 is done!

    Here's Omission:

Arguably one of the higher IQs in the Paragon branch of the Codex, Omission built the A.I. that guards the Sanctuary and supports the team on the field.

In her down time, she doubles as one of the team's doctors, but given the fact she prefers machines to human interaction, her bedside manner leaves much to be desired.
  17. Hey All!

I don't usually post in this thread, but I recently found the perfect way to burn through a tax refund and I wanted to share.

The Codex (Virtue) decided to commission the oh-so-talented daggerpoint for six character commissions. The first just came in. Say hello to Eightpence:

As the Codex's resident thief, she likes to pretend she's in it for the money, but her real motivation remains a mystery...

I'll update this thread as the other pieces come in and as we get them colored as well.

Well, I'm working on the assumption here that the devs will do right by us and make sure that the servers will be maintained to support the load. That said, even if it's full, VIP users such as ourselves will be put in some sort of premium queue for quicker entry to the server.
  20. Your presence in the Virtue community will be sorely missed. You were a model player, both as a SG leader and a roleplayer. I wish you and the wife all the best in wherever life takes you next.

    Oh, right...

*insert obligatory name grab plea here*

  21. Currently Recruiting: We are always welcome to new members of all skill levels. Currently we have an unprecedented level of opportunity for new characters to fully immerse themselves in our story arcs and help shape the Codex's future.

RP Level: We are a heavy RP supergroup with an ongoing plotline. Both the SG and coalition channels are IC. We have an active OOC channel as well to form teams and chat in general.

PvP Level: Casual, but we have been known to host arena events for fun.

Theme/Concept: A secret society who works in relative anonymity to subtly shift the balance of power. The Paragon chapter is one of several around the world, all dedicated to making the world a better place through precise, critical strikes. Few outside the Codex know that the group exists - or at least that's how it should be. Recently, outside forces have begun to circle in on the group, and it is up to the members to unravel the mystery of their origins before they are exposed to the world... or worse.

With a recent shift in leadership (IC, not OOC!) and the realization of some of their worst fears, the members of the Codex are forced to face their inner demons as they discover what's brought them all together and, more importantly, why!

The Codex is all about toeing the line between right and wrong, and determining when the ends justify the means. Flawed characters are constantly put in the position to make their own moral choices that can have significant consequences on futures stories that unfold.

Activity: We have 30-40 characters from about 15-20 players. Our playerbase is multi-national, from the UK, Canada, the US, Australia and Japan, so there is usually someone on most times of the day.

Requirements for Membership: Must be interested in RP and willing to take initiative. We expect everyone to be on at least every 30 days. If you're interested, fill out an application on our site. Be sure to read the format, as it's a rather unique application.

    Leadership: Spellknight and Willowshot

    In-Game Contact(s): @sadronmeldir and @Lion-Hearted

Out-of-Game Contact(s): Send us an email at CodexHeroes@gmail.com or check our site for details.

    URL: www.CodexHeroes.com

Coalition(s): The Codex is a member of a closed IC coalition.

Other Details: We have an amazing RP base known as the Sanctuary, hidden behind a library in Founder's Falls! It is fully functional and our pride and joy. Tours are available!

Additionally, we schedule nearly weekly events and story arcs on our forums for members to enjoy and partake in.

A veteran SG of many years, we're at the cusp of new IC management (OOC, it's the same people). This means that you won't feel too lost with out lore and it's the perfect time to start if you want to grow to contribute to the SG as a member or a seasoned officer. Check us out!

  22. The Codex is always looking for new members! We're a heavily-themed RP SG with plenty of events and a good playerbase. We're routinely have game-changing plotlines... in fact we're starting another this Friday. :-)

Check out the link in my signature and see if it feels like a good fit for you.

    Role playing?

If you're looking for a solid RP community, we're always welcoming more in the Codex on Virtue. Just follow the link in my profile and see if it sounds like what you're looking for.

There's plenty of other SGs and VGs who still have engaging, interesting stories as well! I really hope you find what you're looking for.
  24. Thank goodness! That means we can spend influence on things that really matter... like donations to the Crazy 88's.
  25. I apologize if this has been addressed elsewhere. There's been so much news the past day that it was probably very clearly explained but I might have missed it in the shuffle.

If I understand correctly, the incarnate salvage is bind-on-pickup, which is GREAT! Does this also apply to the incarnate recipes? Or are there even recipes to find (as opposed to just bein? g able to craft them)?

I really hope that, if there are recipes to collect, that they are bind-on-pickup as well.
