  1. Now I wanna get one. *whines*

Edit: *looks at prices* holy moly... okay gonna be a while then!
  2. I blame Celtic Bolt for the art proliferation.

But yeah there is other fan art from other games, but I do agree, the subject matter of 'superheroes' has always been seen as a comic book art kinda thing. Then it just moved from comic booky to different forms, portraits, paintings, etc. Plus the fact that we have a smallish, more tight-knit community here who supports each other, that also has helped quite a bit.
  3. That is an absolutely gorgeous painting! Is it all digital or is there a physical form too?

    Very nice!
  4. For your basic resizing, cropping, level adjustment needs, as well as thumbnail making etc, I would recommend IrFanView. IrFanView . I don't know what it stands for, but it's free, it's fast, and easy to use.
  5. LOL that is sooo cute!

SO is she balancing on the sword or laying on the ground or... ?

I hope she gets clothes :P

    hehe
  6. I got the Graphire 4, 4x5" one. It was an open box (GRR!) because stupid fry's only had this one and the big Intuos for like $469 ugh. It was missing the driver cd too but I could download those thankfully.

I"m still evaluating it, but I am also thinking about getting a tablet PC (convertible) and seeing if that is any better. :P But that's a ways off, this should do for now.

And here's another attempt! Keep in mind this is about 20 minutes of sketchwork. So very very rough!

    Attempt #2 or 3
  7. Well I honestly think it's just an extension of your materials. If you know how to draw well already on paper, then it won't be much of a problem to go all digital. Unfortunately, I don't know how to draw well yet so that's my results. We'll see how I do with TA.

As stated previously, that's a pretty solid attempt for one's first try at a new medium.

Considering a tablet myself, I just have to ask - how does it compare to actually drawing on paper? I tend to mess up too much to really feel comfortable using a digital form, especially since it'd be a bit harder for me to repair my mistakes without feeling like a total loser...

So, an opinion from someone just starting to use one would be incredibly helpful! If you don't mind, of course. :3

Well to be honest with ya, at first it was reeeeally weird. But after a little bit you do get used to it. My lines on the tablet are a LOT sloppier than they are on paper, and my hand apparently is a LOT shakier than I though (probably because of the sampling, it'll pick up the tiniest of shakes), so my slow straight lines aren't so much.

But the neatest thing is precision erasing! You flip the stylus over, and it's got an 'eraser' head that is also pressure sensitive. So instead of erasing in photoshop precisely what's in the circle, you can set a bigger brush (like 50 px) and if you use liiiight pressure you will only erase a tiny circle in the middle. Press harder and you have a bigger eraser. I was really able to fix my mistakes quite well.

I think it's going to be a big pain when it comes to inking though. But we'll see. I might have to keep using the mouse method... but I haven't played with it quite yet.

I do think it will be a phenominal help when it comes to coloring though. All those little details and such and shading. Flats are easy enough with the mouse no worries there.

So yeah, it is different from paper but it's a good different.
  9. Wow starchasm that is an excellent picture!!! You are getting very awesome!
  10. *ignores the whips, chains, and other instruments of... oh nevermind*

Yes it's definitely a different medium. I think once I get used to it (and after my art classes this fall YAY!) I can really improve! *is quite excited!*
  11. Rowr sucks at drawing!

This is really weird. Harder to get used to than I thought. But... i think it'll really help when it comes to coloring! So we'll see !
  12. YAY! Celsia's back! I was actually just thinking about you, was gonna ask how the tablet thing was working for ya. :P

But don't worry! Work and vacation really do screw things up, it did for me when I went on mine! :P
  13. DeviantArt is very free, and pretty good management. A bit annoying to upload one picture at a time so when you're first getting things set up it can be a pain in the butt. But as you add things one at a time it's not too bad. Plus you can have comments and all that already built in, and most of the DA folks are really friendly.

    First Shot At TA

Omg yes please don't use purple.

And it's 'Assassin' not 'assassain' not to be a nit picker! Looks good though!

    Alsooooo, I recently got a Comic Genesis account. This is cool because I could have an actual webpage for Mapserved, but it also sucks because I know NOTHING about HTML or FTPs or any of the other things I need to know about. So if you're experienced with that sort of thing and don't mind explaining it do an idiot, please let me know! I could definitely use a webmaster for the comic, or someone to teach me enough to do it myself. ^^;;

maybe try asking Rowr, she knows a thing or two i belive.

Hehe actually yeah. If you wanna talk about getting something set up I could help out, at the very least refer you to someone who can do a much better job than I!

RowrCoH on Yahoo or AIM anytime! Or IRC If you know how to get there!
  16. Oooh that woudl be good. I think I was on vacation at that time that's why I missed it!!!!!
  17. What Rowr sketch?
There's a Rowr sketch? And I missed it somehow? Or am I thinking of something completely different?

    *embarassed!*

    *goes hunting for it!*
  18. Very nice! Though I do agree with KidRaid's comment Tail should definitely move up a little higher on the back and 'flow' from the rest of the outfit (since I think her tail is not 'real' it's part of her costume? dunno!)
  19. I love these pics! I love the colors and the style and everytihng! Keep up the great work!
  20. Isn't it a GOOD thing he wants to run around outside and play?

Don't worry. Art is for life.

    ART vs. XP

    LOL

Come now. We're all one and the same, doesn't matter what server we play on. :P

So let's all just get along!

    A1 (Attempt one)

Draw bigger! I get the sense that the actual drawing itself on paper is maybe just a few inches big. Draw on a full piece of paper then scan it in and you can have oodles of detail

But it looks good! Keep up the doodling!
