Awww, I'm sorry ma petite femme. It was Somewhere Over the Rainbow, originally sung by Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz.

  5. Not sure if people know this, but when addressing cards to Canada, they get done a little differently than American addresses.

    American addresses are:
    Ms. Liberty
    123 Main Street
    Paragon City, RI, 12345

When addressing Canadian ones it goes like this (we have postal codes not zip codes)
    Ms. Liberty
    123 Main Street
    Canucktown, <province name>
    H1N 1H4
    Canada

It'll still get to where it's going if you do address it like it's an American card, but it may take a little longer is all

I think the most important thing would be teaching them what is to be gained from them [farms]. (i.e. drops, infl, prestige and such), and yes, that is rather easy to explain. Any by telling them the benefits to be gained from farming, I mean placing emphasis on farming AFTER certain other understandings have been accomplished. Even going into detail as much as which missions are ideal and which AT's/Builds can do what, but I think even that isn't important at this stage.

So, the two things you suggest are completely separate. Telling someone how to run a mish and/or TF or how an AT works oppose to farming. I don't know many people that think they'd be "skimping" on teaching someone if they didn't show them how to farm, but rather taught them the basics of the game and which AT's help to do this or that....making them a better team player and helping them understand the uses of certain powers would enrich their play more and send them in the right direction.....imo

Furthermore, it doesn't sound like too many rules are going to be placed on this. I think it's just the general synopsis that teaching someone the other things I, and others, have suggested would be more beneficial than teaching farming.

All this, of course, is just MY opinion. I'm not saying anyone else is wrong...just providing my thoughts
Players returning for Going Rogue will more than likely know what a farm is anyhow, it's been going on that long. And if they have half a brain in their head, they can quickly put the numbers together and figure out a farm is going to give them good drops in a reasonably fast way. Farms are easy enough to figure out.

I've been reading the thread since it started, and haven't waded in with my opinion yet... but it looks like a lot of people are going to put their heart and soul into this. Playing devil's advocate here...Just remember that you're putting your heart and soul into something for anonymous people on the internet. Please guys, don't get your hopes up with this only to be slammed down by John Gabriel's Greater Internet ****wad Theory.

I don't think a player is going to want a Supergroup or a dedicated person to mentor them. I think a new player is going to want a casual channel to ask questions on, and get answers from a variety of people - not just one dedicated person. They're not going to want a lesson-planned out help session. Why not just create a channel for it separate from everything else, and use that for assisting people. While the whole thing is a good idea, it can all too easily go from a great idea to an escalated holier-than-thou pretentious soap box preaching session that will drive people away.

If someone asks me a question I've always looked at it as: If you're going to help someone, then just help them. If they need more help, they'll ask.

Some of these points I've made may or may not be my opinion. I've tried to play the devil
    s advocate.

  13. I play the 'other' MMO still, though not as frequently as my real life friends who play there would like. I thought I would enjoy logging back in over there and playing with them, but for the first time in a while, it doesn't hold my interest like CoH does - I think it has a lot to do with the fun I have with the people I play with on a regular basis.

If you don't team a lot, or team with regular people, change it up and just invite randoms for a PUG of a few missions. Some of them can be pretty funny.

For those of you who are unsure how to do it yet. I found the best way is to get a full team of 8 and have two people at each banner and work on the waves of baddies till the banners are vulnerable and then have the team meet at one banner and take it out and move on to the next. Its just a ton of fun.

But enough about how much i love the event. What do you all think?
Don't shoot me, but it reminds me almost of a 25-40 man raid on another MMO in the intricacies involved in it. They take lots of teamwork, communication, and skill.

I am really, really glad to see something like this that forces teams to work together for a common goal on this scale instead of 'kill this mob and click the glowie!'

    Well done!

Rhys Ilfans is also in that movie, along with Phillip Seymour Hoffman, and Bill Nighy, Nick Frost and Kenneth Branagh All solid actors. I can't wait to see Ilfans - I loved him in Notting Hill. And anything with Nighy is automatic win (loved him in Love Actually!).

It's also cool from a nerd perspective, cos it has 3 people who're in the Harry Potter movies.
    Nerd on!

    Can't wait to see it!

Yeah, makes for a really, really fun team for the non voice player.
Quick question - why not pick up a mic? TS doesn't take up all that much resources on the comp, and you can get a fairly ok headset/mic for fairly cheap. You could even use just a pair of earphones to hear what's going on - you wouldn't be able to talk, but at least it's an option?
