  1. Okay, I found it. The build with 96.2% damage buff was somehow bugged with Against All Odds. Turning it on and off, it seemed to give a gigantic buff. I removed the power, added it back in, and everythign seemed to work normall again. So, without further ado, please evaluate the following build. And let me know if 34.4% damage buff is too low

    I can replace the Scirocco's Dervish sets on thunder Strike and Jacob's Ladder with Obliterations. That increases my damage quite a bit on those powers but lowers my AoE DEF from 51.6% to 45.5%

  3. Hi Everyone!

    I have a very weird conundrum. Working with Mids, I came up with 2 very, very similar builds. But they do differ just a little bit. And so, the stats differ jsut a little bit.

    EXCEPT FOR ONE THING

    In damage %, one has 34.4% and the other has 96.2%. How is this possible?!?!!? I have checked everything, and I cannot see what is causing this. So, I am appealing to all of you to help me.

    I am posting both of them with every stat I could so you can help figure out what is causing this.

  5. @Everyone, Ok, so let me review. let's say I have 17% S/L, 45% ranged, 43% AoE and 43% melee. If someone hits my scrapper with a smashing blow that also is flagged as positional, the game will find the highest defense I have 9ranged) for positional defense and use that? Or does the attack need to have be specifically a ranged attack?

    @EJI, Thank you. I like this build. Should I just skip using the ATOs? I have all 6 already for this scrapper. I have another TW/EA scrapper level 43 I am playing that I could give them too...

    As for Alpha, I was hoping to use Agility to get the 45% end and 33% recharge. Is that not wise? Also, what is AD?
  6. Hi Everyone!

    Ok, so I change things up drastically. I now have 47.3% melee, 43.3% ranged, and 47.3% AoE. I also have 32.3% S/L.

    Can someone explain to my why a scrapper with this build requires positional defense over typed (S/L)? Yes, my attacks are PBAoE, but I also tend to get a lot of folks around me hitting me. Wouldn't I want 45% S/L??

    Anyway, here's my new build. I am trying to be a damage machine, that doesn't die a lot, and might be able to do some farming. Please let me know what you think I did right, and what I did wrong. Thank you!

    Thanks guys! I will keep moving forward with this build, tweaking it based on your suggestions, focusing on melee, ranged and AoE defenses. I am also looking at Fury Flechette's post on these builds (yes, I know they are legacy builds).

    So, should I still keep the Red Fortunes six slotted to get the Ranged defense?

    Interesting. So, I roleld a new character, an Elec/SD Scrapper and dove into a bunch of DFBs. And having just played the Brute version, I can say that it seemed like the Scrapper does more dammage, 100% UNslotted in DFB. I think that is the best apples to apples comparison since there are no differences from IO sets, etc. Still this is a purely subjective conclusion because I didn't take specific notes. And seeing "CRITICAL" popup with the scrapper is always gratifying. Plys, I could never get the fury going (Brutes befuddle me a bit).

    So, I guess I am happier with the Scrapper on a subjective, enjoyment level. Whether it is more survivable or does more damage in reality, I can't say yet. But it "feels" as though it does to me.

    Does that make sense?

    Great explanation! Thank you!! So, it seems, if I understand you correctly, under heavily buffed scenarios (like when I am on a team), the damage output of the scrapper will do better with the single Lightning Rod strike than the brute.

    I think I will take advantage of this Sunday's remaining 2x XP and roll a scrapper just to see what it is like. I also like the criticals of a scrapper, and seem to find it hard to do similar damage with the Fury aspect of a brute. But then, I haven't played the brute very much yet outside of power-leveling her with DFB. But having these two characters side-by-side so to speak, I might be able to get a feel for which does more damage routinely, not just during the most powerful strike (is that what an alpha strike is called?). Afterall, I won't be using Lightning Rod over and over again. There are other powers.

    Do I have it right?

  19. Thank you Eldorado for that feedback. I appreciate it. I have respec'd and am in the process of filling out my build, one enhancement at a time. I find this to be rewarding and makes me eager to see each new change as it is added. I'd love to be able to make the changes en masse, I think that'd be cool too, but I don't have influence fo that yet.

    This has been a great thread, and really makes me want to continue playing this game.

    BTW, I got my first purple recipe yesterday, crafted it, and sold for a nice sum, so that definitely helps!

    The singular Rectified Recticle in Blinding Feint was just a last minute "let me see what this would do..." I am still experimenting there...
  20. Wow, I totally forgot about using my secondary and tertiary builds! Facepalm! Good idea. And thank you Doomguide for the links. They are quite helpful.

    That said, I had enough Pagaron points to buy 4 sets of the Kinetic Combat, and I had a few LotG enhancements, so I decided to respec late last night. My damage resist is much better, but still needs more work as I accumulate the IO sets I need. I have a bunch of recipes that I am using to fund my influence habit, so I hope to slowly gain what I need.

    Here's my latest build, the one I am using now, with some changes to what I have slotted in Combat Jumping to avoid the Rule of Fives. I didn't upgrade to using the Performance Shifter enhancements because I have about 8 of the Efficacy ones already, plus a several more recipes for them (I don't know why I keep getting those recipes!).

    I am doing my mishes in DA, so maybe I will get some better recipes...

  21. Thank you @Eldorado for explaining why I have those extra damage IOs in my Mids build. They don't represent what I have in reality, but are my way of showing I will be filling them out with ATOs for the Scrapper AT.

    And I may alter Combat Jumping since, as you say, I am running up against the "Rule of Five".

    @ShadowHex, I like your idea around Stealth. I dropped Confront and replaced it with Hasten, but I will think about using Stealth too.

    As always, I will continue to tinker, and as I do, I will continue to make some updates to this thread.

    All of you guys are really amazing for spending so much time on my build. I know your information it will help others like me too.
  22. Thank you, guys! So much good stuff here.

    Moonlighter, I took what you and ClawsAndEffect saif about Energy and Negative defenses and applied it to this latest build. I didn't see how to do Negative def wihtout also doing Energy def too.

    I also put some more damage slots into my attack powers. I have two Hami enhancements, one is for damage and the other is Ribosome Exposure. The latter I did not slot because I could not find a use for it.

    I also have 2 ATOs for Scrappers right now, but I don't know how to represent them using Mids, so I just put damage IOs in there for now. I plan to get more ATOs as time goes by.

    I think this is a solid, balanced build, with 36.4% for Slashing/Lethal and 41.6% for Energy/Negative. I also put out more damage now, and have more HP.

    My last question is, how long should I wait to respec? Should I acquire all of the enhancements first? Some of them? What's the tipping point?

  23. Ok, I tried to incorporate your advice (thanks ClawsandEffect and Eldorado!) Here's a new spec. For example, I have used Confront and Boxing to increase my Slashing and Lethal defense, even though I probably won't use those powers. Does this make sense??

    I have a looooong way to go to get these enhancements. I have only run the Hero morality mish once, and have done zero story arcs. I have done a lot of task forces and a few iTrials very recently.

    Since it is going to take me so long to get these enhancements, should I wait to respec until I have them all?
