Your build needs some help, but it's not the worst I've seen.

I'll pop back in on my lunch break and critique it for you.

It's not terrible, but it could be a LOT better than it is. And it can be if you're patient and willing to spend the money (in-game money, not real money)

Don't feel bad though, I made some way worse mistakes than you when I was first learning the ins and outs of build-fu

Okay Riius, here goes. My wording may come off as harsh, but it isn't my intent to be mean. I don't have much time to type so it's in the interest of speed. So, if I seem short or like I'm barking orders, don't take it personally.

First, your mistakes:

-You didn't slot High Pain Tolerance (HPT) for Heal. HPT increases your max HP, which in turn increases your regeneration. Higher Max HP also means you can take more hits before you drop.

-You neglected to slot any sets that increase your defense. There are a number of places where you could have acquired a lot more defense. The more defense you have = the fewer hits that will get through. The fewer hits that get through = less damage for you to regenerate back. Willpower wants Typed defense, meaning defense to Smashing, Lethal, Energy, etc. That's because Heightened Senses gives you a good base of typed defense to build off of. Do not worry about Positional defense (Melee, Ranged, AoE), because the game uses the highest defense you have to a given attack, and only the highest. If someone attacks you with a sword, it will check Melee and Lethal defenses and use whichever is higher. The other is ignored.

-It looks like you built your scrapper on the cheap. Not that it's a bad thing, but if you want to really shine be prepared to drop some more cash on your build. You can put together an awe-inspiring build with a little bit of patience and maybe some luck.

-You didn't seem to slot many sets that increase your regeneration either. There are a number of sets that will do so, and regeneration bonuses will stack with Fast Healing, Health, and Physical Perfection to increase your overall regeneration. Regeneration will probably not save you on its own, but when combined with your resistance and defense it will make you a formidable foe indeed.

-You overslotted several of your powers. Example: you used 6 Titanium Coating in HPT. Why would you want 2 enhancements that do nothing but add recharge and end reduction in a power that is always on and uses no endurance?

-You also stopped just short of the desireable set bonus on some of your other powers. Example: You used 4 Crushing Impact in Power Slice. Crushing Impact's most desireable bonus is the 5% recharge bonus you get when you slot 5 of them. You did that with several other powers as well.

That's all the time I have for this post. I'll break down your build power by power in my next post. You can use as much or as little of my advice as you like. After all, it is YOUR character. I'm just trying to help you make it better, and it seems like you don't know the ins and outs of building efficiently yet.

That's all for now, I'll catch up with you in a bit.

Okay, here's the power by power breakdown for you. Your power choices themselves are fine, with very little I'd change at all, so I'll be giving slotting advice with the current powers as they are.

Also, there is no rule that says you have to use level 50 sets on a level 50 character. In fact, using lower levels sets is helpful in that it allows you to retain your set bonuses when you exemp to lower levels.

Power Slice: Replacing the 4 Crushing Impact you have in there with 4 Kinetic Combat will net you an additional 3.75% Smashing/Lethal (S/L) defense. It doesn't sound like much, but it adds up.

High Pain Tolerance: This power should be slotted for healing before anything else. Since you have 6 slots allocated to it already, I'll just give you replacements for all 6. 3 Numina's Convalescence will give you an additional 12% regeneration and 1.88% max HP. I would fill in the remaining 3 slots with Aegis, which will give you 3.13% Fire/Cold defense (F/C).

Mind Over Body: You have 4 slots already in this power, so just replace the Titanium Coating you have in there with Reactive Armor. It will give you an additional 1.25% defense to S/L and Energy/Negative Energy (E/N). Skip the pieces that offer no reistance enhancement.

Fast Healing: Already 3 slotted, so put 3 Numina's Convalescence in it for the regen and Max HP bonuses.

Ablating Strike: You have 6 slots in here. I would pull one slot to use elsewhere and put 4 Kinetic Combat in it for the S/L defense, and fill the last slot with Achilles' Heel Chance for Res Debuff. It's an IO that gives your attack a 20% chance to debuff your target's resistance by 20%. It will increase your damage output a bit over time.

Typhoon's Edge: The Scirocco's Dervish in here are fine. I would replace the Cleaving Blows with 4 Eradication. It's an amazing set for set bonuses. It gives you: 1.8% max endurance, 3.13% E/N defense, and 2.25% max HP when you put 4 of them in it.

Indomitable Will: Pull the Def/End/Rech out of this power and use the slot somewhere else.

Blinding Feint: 4 Kinetic Combat and 2 Rectified Reticle. This will have the net effect of an additional 5.63% S/L defense gained from sets in one power. We're only up to level 12 and have already added 13.3% S/L defense to your build.

Super Jump: No reason to slot this. I'd just put a generic Jump enhancement in here.

Combat Jumping: Lose the Gift of the Ancients and replace it with a LotG +Rech.

Rise to the Challenge (RttC): Drop the 3 piece and put 3 Numina's Convalescence in here, more regen and HP. (We've saved 3 slots to put somewhere else at this point)

Quick Recovery: Drop a slot, put Performance Shifter End Mod, EndMod/Something, and Chance for +End. Slot Stamina the same way.

Vengeful Slice: Drop a slot, add 4 (you guessed it) Kinetic Combat and a Mako's Bite quad. (Acc/Dam/End/Rech) (4 slots saved)

Boxing: No issues. I'd remove it from your power tray altogether to be honest.

Tough: Add one of the 4 extra slots you have floating around and put 4 Reactive Armor in here.

Weave: Put 3 LotG in here, including the +Rech.

Heightened Senses: Same as Weave.

Sweeping Strike and One Thousand Cuts: Slot these both the same as Typhoon's Edge.

Maneuvers: Same as Weave.

Tactics: 2 Rectified Reticle and an End Reduction.

Strength of Will: Put a Steadfast Protection Resistance/Defense in the default slot. It adds 3% to ALL defense, a must-have IO for any scrapper.

Conserve Power: Replace this power with Focused Accuracy and slot 2 Rectified Reticle in it. Add an End Reduction if you plan on using it.

Physical Perfection: Numina's Convalescence: Heal and Numina's Reg/Rec (the unique one). Also add a Miracle +Recovery.

And finally, take a couple of the extra slots you've saved and add them to Health. Put another 2 Numina's and a Regerativ Tissue +Regeneration.

That's my Willpower template. It can be applied with minor variations to any Willpower build.

I'll pop back in and give you some tips on actually acquiring all the expensive crap I told you to slot

First off, welcome to the forums, welcome to level 50, and welcome to high-level DB/WPness! That combination wasn't my first 50, but it's still my favorite and my main character with thousands of hours of play so far.

As Claws said, yours ISN'T a bad first build (MY first attempt years ago was a bit of a train wreck) but his advice on how to improve it has been pretty sound.

Things that he might have forgotten to say in his explanations, though, or been limited by time:

Willpower is one of a very few defensive sets in this game that -- when it's time for IO's and defensive goodness -- does NOT benefit as much from melee/aoe/ranged (or "positional") defense. The few inherent defenses WP has are from "typed" defense, which is why most of us focus on boosting smashing/lethal and energy/negative defenses, and it's possible to get those to nice high levels rather than the mediocre-at-best we can achieve by chasing positionals.

Willpower is a very "layered" defensive set -- with SO's we survive (rather nicely!) with a combination of resistance and regeneration. Resistance cuts the amount of damage that "gets through" attacks that land, though we'll never reach the levels of an Invulnerability scrapper. Regen lets us heal from the damage we take, even though we'll never reach the levels that regen scrappers do (unless we're surrounded by foes with Rise to the Challenge temporarily boosting our regen rates). Together, though, they make for good survivability, then when we start adding defense from IO's it gets even better. As Claws said, though, it's still important to take regen and resistance into account when chasing set bonuses.

Personally, I try to maintain all my attacks at the highest possible levels (within reason) for damage since I AM building a scrapper, after all! Then I concentrate on defense without sacrificing regen, and then (smart or not) I let the resistances take care of themselves. Some of my resistance powers are only slotted to 40-something percent rather than close-to-60 percent so I could borrow a slot here and there for more defense, but they're not completely ignored, either!

While I'm not sure what your long-term goals are for this character, I personally think that Leadership's two toggles might not work terribly well for those long AV fights -- I prefer Focused Accuracy on my scrappers for the to-hit and defense bonuses from the Gaussian's IO's, and by occasionally just turning off "Sprint" my character can keep going and going against AV's and Rikti pylons, like that bunny in the battery commercials.

That's the great thing about this game, though -- your mileage and power choices may vary, and they're easy to change around with a respec.

Here's the inexpensive version of what I've got working for me right now -- with the addition of a Glad Armor +3%, the new scrapper ATO set and a few enhancement boosters, I've managed to "softcap" smashing and lethal defenses without sacrificing anything else:

Oh yeah. The soft-cap.

If you're not aware of what this is, I'll give you a quick explanation.

The "soft-cap" is a point at which getting more of something will do you no further good. It's most often applied to defense, but I've seen it applied to other things as well. Unless otherwise stated, you can assume that anytime someone mentions the term soft-cap, they are talking about defense.

The soft-cap for defense for the vast majority of the game is 45%. That is because of the hard-coded limits placed on chances to hit and miss. An enemy will always have a minimum of a 5% chance to hit you, no matter what else is happening. You could have 1,000,000% defense and that enemy will still have a 5% chance to hit. The base chance to hit for probably 95% of the enemies in the game is 50%. That means once you get to 45% defense to that enemy's attack type or position, getting more defense will do no good because you've already lowered their chance to hit you as much as you ever will.

On the reverse side, nothing can ever have more than a 95% chance to hit. That's why you'll sometimes still miss, even if your accuracy on a power is at 135%.

As promised, some tips on acquiring the expensive stuff I steered you toward in my last post:

I assume you're a VIP, since you could not post in this section if you were not.

That makes acquiring that stuff pretty easy actually.

For starters, if you have not run a full cycle of tip missions, do so at once. After you have "reaffirmed" your alignment as either a hero or a villain you can acquire Alignment Merits. These are the easiest way to get the expensive stuff, as nothing I recommended you slot will cost more than 2 of them.

After you have done that, run all of the Signature Story Arcs (hopefully you have not run all of them yet) Your first time through them you will get the option to select a Hero or Villain Merit as a reward. After the first time, you are limited to one a week.

I suggest spending the first 6 you acquire this way on the Numina's Convalescence +Regen/+Recovery, the Miracle +Recovery, and one of the Luck of the Gambler +Recharges you will need. Those IOs are known as the "Big 3", as they have consistently commanded a significant amount of influence to buy.

Also, by playing at level 50, or close to it, you have a chance to get a "purple drop". If you have not gotten one of these yet, the words that pop up on the screen when you get one will be in purple. These recipes go for anywhere from 100 to 600 million in the auction house. I recommend selling all the ones you get for a while to fund the rest of your build.

You can learn to play the market as well and gain influence that way, but I'm not particularly good at it, so you'd be better off asing someone else about that.

Have fun and happy scrapping!

Wow, thank you guys!! That's a ton of information! I am trying to absorb it all. I will report a new spec soon based on all of this. I did do some already and got slashing and lethal up to 44.5% using Kinetic Combat, Mocking beratement (Confront), and Reactive Armor. I was up late

Ok, I tried to incorporate your advice (thanks ClawsandEffect and Eldorado!) Here's a new spec. For example, I have used Confront and Boxing to increase my Slashing and Lethal defense, even though I probably won't use those powers. Does this make sense??

I have a looooong way to go to get these enhancements. I have only run the Hero morality mish once, and have done zero story arcs. I have done a lot of task forces and a few iTrials very recently.

Since it is going to take me so long to get these enhancements, should I wait to respec until I have them all?

I think you're definitely on the right track, though personally I think you might have gone a little overboard on defense -- and I did much the same thing when I started rebuilding my DB/WP scrapper the second time.

There are scrappers whose idea of defense is to put the villains down first, and build for as much offense as possible and sacrifice defense, and there are those who build for tank-like defenses and sacrifice offense. I like to try to aim for a balance between, even though I'm fond of saying that "my DPS is a lot higher when I'm upright than when I'm faceplanted."

As mentioned before, willpower is based on layers of mitigation, so that "softcap" that's all-important to Super Reflexes scrappers is just a nice idea to us willpower types. If they get hit, it's gonna HURT. If we get hit, about half the smashing/lethal incoming damage will effectively bounce off thanks to our resistances, and whatever does gets through can be quickly regenerated!

You'll notice a HUGE difference in survivability if you just get smashing/lethal up to 35% or so -- I don't have the hard numbers memorized, but others here will. The gist of is that with zero defenses, half the incoming attacks from even level minions are going to miss, but with 35% defense something like 85% of them will completely miss. Yes, you can chase the softcap so that 95% will miss, but IMHO, we're talking about diminishing returns.

Your four attacks that are "just" slotted with four Kinetic Combats aren't doing anywhere near the damage they could if they were five-slotted with four KC's and an extra "something." Typhoon's Edge, which you'll still probably be using for the Sweep combo is doing even less damage.

Speaking of Sweep, Dual Blades also has some damage mitigation from the three knockdown attacks if you're alternating between Attack Vitals and Sweep. I like to focus on bosses and let the minions and LT's defeat themselves in my scrapper's flurry of AoE attacks, but while I'm doing that the boss is usually spending more time standing up than he is punching me. That extra knockdown makes my DB/WP just feel tougher and more survivable than my other six or so WP scrappers that are only knocking down a couple of things at a time.

Anyhow -- slots that are perhaps better used elsewhere would include two in Combat Jumping -- it's such a small defense to begin with that extra slots are usually unneeded. The 10% regen bonus you're getting from the Luck of the Gambler set exceeds the "Rule of Five" which says you can only get five of the same exact bonus in a character. You've got five LotG "pairs" in your character, plus another 10% regen bonus from Efficacy Adapter, so you're really not getting much from the slots in Combat Jumping at all. If it were me, I'd put in a Defense IO (or an LotG recharge when you can afford it) and move the other slots to one of your offensive powers.

Physical Perfection is the crappiest of the three heal and stamina powers willpower has available. Fast Healing and Quick Recovery give the biggest base bonus and the biggest enhanceable bonus, followed by Health and Stamina. Physical Perfection's base is half of Health or Stamina, so most people usually just put a Perf Shifter proc or a regen proc like the Numina's or Miracle unique in there. If you move two slots (and the three Numina's IO's) to Health, you'll see a bigger return on your investment in the form of more regeneration!

Confront: I LIKE confront and have it on most of my scrappers! No, I'm not a tank but I find it handy to pull aggro off squishies when I simply can't run over and stab the offending villain in the face. However, I really can't justify three extra slots in there on my builds since I'm trying to maximize my damage output at the same time! I'd move those slots over to your other attacks that can use the bonus, if I were you.

Boxing: I'm not personally a fan of using powers to be "set mules" if I think I can use the slots in an attack I'm actually going to use, but I can't argue with the results in a lot of cases, so I left it alone. I'd probably move one or two to Typhoon's Edge, one to Fast Healing and one to Rise to the Challenge to try and boost damage and/or regen, but again, that's me and there's an infinite number of ways to build good characters in this game!

Assuming you're probably slotted with SO's right now, it's probably a toss-up between "respec now and slot IO's as you find them" or "collect IO's and respec when you have half of them." I've done it both ways in the past -- these days thanks to Mid's I've usually decided by level 47 if I like a character and if so, have a build and respec ready to go at that point.

Here's my version of your build, but it's 4 AM and I have a gnawing sensation that there's something else I missed. S/L is down to 41.4, which is still great, if you ask me, damage is higher, recovery is a little higher, and I'm not sure why Mid's is showing the same regen when I'm SURE it should be higher now, but that takes us back to "4 AM and something I suspect I missed."

Looks much better Riius.

There's still a couple things I would tweak, but it's a far better effort than your first one.

Things I would tweak:

I'd still slot HPT for healing first, and add some resistance in as an afterthought. The Max HP it gives you should not be overlooked.

Don't worry so much about Smashing/Lethal defense. The defense you should be concerned about is Energy/Negative. I'll explain why. You have probably over 50% resistance to S/L damage, but it is doubtful that you have more than 8% or so resistance to E/N damage. Energy is the 3rd most common attack type in the game, and there are quite a few attacks out there that are pure Energy, which means no other defense you have will apply to it. What that means is that when youi are confronted with pure Energy attacks, they will get through a lot easier, and they're gonna hurt.

I'd put 4 Eradication in all of your PBAoE attacks for the E/N defense it gives, as well as the Max End and Max HP. You want your defenses to be at least balanced so you don't have a huge hole to an attack type that will faceplant you when you encounter it. 35% or so is very doable for a Willpower scrapper. (it is technincally possible to soft-cap all types, but you'd have to gimp other aspects of the build)

Also, the new Scrapper's Strike Archetype enhancement is really nice. You can use a Catalyst on them and they become a purple set. When you catalyze them they give a S/L defense bonus of 5% for slotting 3 of them, which you can get twice if you split them between 2 different powers. You could, for example, put 3 each in 2 of your PBAoEs and fill the other 3 slots with Eradication. That would give you 5% S/L defense and 3.13% E/N defense out of the slotting of just one power.

The key to building a solid Willpower character is balance. If you focus on one aspect of a build to the exclusion of other aspects, you leave weaknesses in it. If you take a more balanced approach, your build will be stronger overall. In other words, don't obsess so much on defense if it means you neglect Max HP, and don't worry so much about resistance that you neglect defense, and so on.

Ultimately, what you do with your character is up to you, but I'd be willing to bet you'll be happier with it in the long run with a more balanced approach to your slotting.

Gratz on 50!

The previous posters gave a lot of good advice. As you start making alt scrappers (and other melee) you will find the themes they laid out above to apply to a wide variety of characters. The strategy of mitigation usually starts on whether you will stack typed defense or positional defense. Sometimes that is chosen by your secondary (SR, Shield go positional for example, while WP, Invuln, and EA go typed) and sometimes it doesn't matter to your secondary.

When a secondary is defense neutral I tend to favor typed defense, mostly because S/L defense gives you the biggest bang for the buck in terms of raw attacks blocked. That's because so many attacks have a partial smashing or lethal component (like Fireball for example) and the way defense works the entire attack is stopped by the highest defense.

As for Energy/Negative, the funny thing is the latest patch, in my opinion, made Energy defense less important, because the new Incarnate content doesn't seem to be heavy on Energy like Praetoria, while at the same time making Negative much more prevalent. So stacking this defense is probably a good bet as you pursue incarnate content.

Thank you, guys! So much good stuff here.

Moonlighter, I took what you and ClawsAndEffect saif about Energy and Negative defenses and applied it to this latest build. I didn't see how to do Negative def wihtout also doing Energy def too.

I also put some more damage slots into my attack powers. I have two Hami enhancements, one is for damage and the other is Ribosome Exposure. The latter I did not slot because I could not find a use for it.

I also have 2 ATOs for Scrappers right now, but I don't know how to represent them using Mids, so I just put damage IOs in there for now. I plan to get more ATOs as time goes by.

I think this is a solid, balanced build, with 36.4% for Slashing/Lethal and 41.6% for Energy/Negative. I also put out more damage now, and have more HP.

My last question is, how long should I wait to respec? Should I acquire all of the enhancements first? Some of them? What's the tipping point?

Again, thank you, everyone!

Riius,

As you know, I did a little tweaking of my own, and e-mailed it to you.

However, after reading what ClawsandEffect wrote, I think he's right.

I typically go a little overkill on defense, and his comment about balance has got me rethinking some of my builds.

Fortunately, I have one caveat - I never leveled a WP anything before, which I told you before I fiddled around with a build. These folks in here definitely have you on the right track.

Now, if they'd just release those enhancement converters to live, it'd be a lot cheaper to make a lot of those IOs.

Here is my DB/WP scrapper, it soft caps S/L and pushes fire/cold/energy/negative to the border before using T4 Agility. Without the agility it stays just under the soft cap due to a 2% loss from stealth, but after agility it will stay above the cap for all the positions. It has almost 700% regen with 1 enemy, and caps out at 1100% if you were to have 10 enemies. It isn't HP capped for scrappers, even with accolades it is still ~150hp below the cap, but I'm not terribly worried. And with accolades and the agility alpha it pushes 5.19 end/s so endurance is never a problem. It probably won't be winning the dps race, but I suspect it has enough damage. I plan on dropping the kinetic combats from boxing, removing one slot and 3 slotting it with superior scrapper ATOs. I am also considering adding that slot to power slice, replacing the kinetics with 3 superior scrapper ATOs and filling out the remaining two slots with something to boost accuracy and damage.
Its not a stupidly expensive build, but the kinetics and the LOTG recharge IOs put it up there.
Oh and in the end I probably won't slot the purple or the HO, they are just too expensive for what you get I think. Other incarnates I will take are reactive, void (for the added damage res) and most likely the rebirth radial so I can feel like a regen for a bit.

I think this is a solid, balanced build, with 36.4% for Slashing/Lethal and 41.6% for Energy/Negative. I also put out more damage now, and have more HP.
Sounds much better. I'm not going to analyze your build too heavily this time around, but it sounds like you're on the right track.

You could tweak a little bit to gain a touch more S/L defense, but 36.4% is plenty solid.

Riius: Your revamped build has issues with overslotting for damage in many of your attacks. When you are using mids hover your curser over the skill name and check the %, specifically check the color and if it is red, see how much difference it is. For example on your build you have slotted 1000 cuts for 200% damage boost but only 110% of that is actually functional. Meanwhile your attack has very little accuracy and you don't really have much in the way of global accuracy. Heck my build only has 36% global accuracy and I think it is a little low (considering there are very few slots in my powers specifically for accuracy due to kinetic combat).
I messed around a bit with your build in Mids, I changed some of the damage IOs around, dropped an unnecessary slot in boxing, and dropped confront in favor of stealth for the extra defense. Rise to the challenge already has a taunt aura, and while it isn't as good as confront, confront really isnt that good. You lost a couple of points of damage in 1k cuts, but the net gain over all was a significant amount of defense, and max hps, better accuracy, more recharge, and better regen (both % and per second because of the greater max hp.) If you look at it you might want to check and see if it breaks the rule of five, I wasn't looking too deeply, but I don't think it does.

Riius: I think you're definitely in the ballbark this time around! After you get this build completed, the good news/bad news is that you'll have nothing left to do but play, tinker, play more, tweak, and keep up with minor changes in the game like the new addition of ATOs.

I still think you've got Combat Jumping overslotted for the tiny amount of defense you're getting from it, and the LotG's ARE definitely still breaking the "Rule of Five" so you're not getting the set bonus regen from it -- which makes them a rather expensive waste of slots. I'd either pick different IO's to go in there or (preferably) move two of those slots elsewhere.

As far as waiting to respec, it probably depends on what you've got for a build now and what your funds are like. If you've got the five million INF to respec now and just slot everything with SO's, I'd go for it now and then collect and slot set IO's as you get them.

Completely true, BUT....

...the one "failing" to Mid's is that it's not automagically updated the instant a new issue gets released. We can't really complain, though, since last I heard there's ONE player who's doing all the work, in addition to real life stuff and actually playing the game -- and since it's shareware, we're not even paying for it!

So yes, on paper it LOOKS like those attacks are massively overslotted even though they're not! In my most recent build, I've got an entire set of ATOs slotted in Sweeping Strike which again, we can't represent in Mid's just yet, so I just left them blank, and I think that looks even worse.

Thank you @Eldorado for explaining why I have those extra damage IOs in my Mids build. They don't represent what I have in reality, but are my way of showing I will be filling them out with ATOs for the Scrapper AT.

And I may alter Combat Jumping since, as you say, I am running up against the "Rule of Five".

@ShadowHex, I like your idea around Stealth. I dropped Confront and replaced it with Hasten, but I will think about using Stealth too.

As always, I will continue to tinker, and as I do, I will continue to make some updates to this thread.

All of you guys are really amazing for spending so much time on my build. I know your information it will help others like me too.

A thought about building your newest build: Don't use your current build unless you can afford to do most of it up front and have a functional build (or are willing to play alts for now). If you need time to accumulate the inf and Alignment merits to purchase all those IO's I'd recommend leaving your original build alone and using the second build (see a trainer to find this) adding those IO's to your second (or third even once your Alpha is unlocked which it sounds as if that's the case) as you go. That way you still have your original build available to play while accumulating stuff.

Wow, I totally forgot about using my secondary and tertiary builds! Facepalm! Good idea. And thank you Doomguide for the links. They are quite helpful.

That said, I had enough Pagaron points to buy 4 sets of the Kinetic Combat, and I had a few LotG enhancements, so I decided to respec late last night. My damage resist is much better, but still needs more work as I accumulate the IO sets I need. I have a bunch of recipes that I am using to fund my influence habit, so I hope to slowly gain what I need.

Here's my latest build, the one I am using now, with some changes to what I have slotted in Combat Jumping to avoid the Rule of Fives. I didn't upgrade to using the Performance Shifter enhancements because I have about 8 of the Efficacy ones already, plus a several more recipes for them (I don't know why I keep getting those recipes!).

I am doing my mishes in DA, so maybe I will get some better recipes...

If you're already level 50 (which you are), you can easily put together a build like that as you play.

Just set up the powers and slot allocation and swap out slotting as you acquire the pieces you need.

I frequently build characters as I go, adding a little bit at a time as I get the stuff. The cool thing about that is you get to watch your character gradually get better. I don't know about you, but that makes it a little more rewarding for me.

*facepalms too* GREAT idea and one that I didn't even think about! One of those disadvantages to being an "old dog" in this game, apparently. "New tricks? Huh? What? Well, in MY day when we were slogging uphill to Terra Volta barefoot in the snow both ways, we didn't HAVE any newfangled 'alternate builds!'"

For those who are at work or too lazy to go to Mid's, the new build certainly looks impressive: 44.1% smashing/lethal defense (and conceivably 49.1% with six catalysts, in case of debuffs or incarnate trials), 44.3% energy/negative defense, 689% regen (or 52.77 HP/sec) with one enemy feeding RttC and 4.09 end/sec recovery are all great, in my book! (I am kind of curious about the single Rectified Reticle in Blinding Feint, though -- was it part of a pair at one point?)

This is what makes this game great, in my opinion -- an infinite number of ways to build good characters, and a lot of different approaches. A couple of your slotting ideas seemed kind of weird to me (at first), but I can't argue a bit about the results.

Sometimes this forum and the Build Workshop remind me of a cooking class or something. "Hey, I've got all these ingredients, so how do I make beef stew?"

"Well, you can't. For starters, that's chicken! And those orange things are hot peppers, not carrots."

What you've created doesn't look anything like MY recipe for beef stew; instead, you've created an amazing chicken-sausage gumbo -- which IS essentially stew, after all, only different! (And now I may have to "borrow" a couple of those formerly weird ideas, too....)

Nice job!

I've done it both ways and enjoyed both. The "gradual improvement" reminds me of restoring and souping up my buddy's '71 Nova -- "it's gonna be awesome when it's done!" Just dropping 2 or 3 billion on bids overnight and then plopping new IO's into a respec the next day is kind of like trading in an old car on a brand-new one -- with a turbocharger. "Wow! This is faaasst!"

Thank you Eldorado for that feedback. I appreciate it. I have respec'd and am in the process of filling out my build, one enhancement at a time. I find this to be rewarding and makes me eager to see each new change as it is added. I'd love to be able to make the changes en masse, I think that'd be cool too, but I don't have influence fo that yet.

This has been a great thread, and really makes me want to continue playing this game.

BTW, I got my first purple recipe yesterday, crafted it, and sold for a nice sum, so that definitely helps!

The singular Rectified Recticle in Blinding Feint was just a last minute "let me see what this would do..." I am still experimenting there...

Put 2 of them in there and you'll get another 1.88% S/L defense.

It's not much, but after reading this thread and tweaking your build you should know how quickly stuff like that adds up by now.

Hi Folks! Jsut wanted to give you another shout out. Here's my build full on with the ATO's (go Mids!).

I moved the "Gaussian's Synchronized Fire-Control - Chance for Build Up: Level 50" out of Tactics. Let me know if you think that was wise. I haven't done it in-game yet because I need 2 unslotters.

Thank you.
