TW/EA Scrapper - Please Critique

Posted

Hi Everyone,

I've gotten a lot of help on this forum from my fellow scrapper lovers. I first posted a DB/WP scrapper and got a lot of assitance on that thread.

i also just posted a question about an Elec/SD scrapper here.

Now, thanks to the double XP weekend a little ways back, I am also asking about a TW/EA scrapper. I have not played TW before so any help would be greatly aprpeciated. Thank you!

looks good. I added some tweaks, but it looks fine as is.

since I had a surplus of 1.12%hp's and 10%regens, I decided to slap some Sheild Walls in there.

I guess Energy Cloaks' defense surpresses? so 48% is prolly the ideal number to shoot for.

You might choose a alpha before your final min/max'd build..

Energy Cloak's defense does not suppress in combat. Still, 48% or so is good, since the set does not have perfect DDR, so you'll want at least a small buffer.

I haven't played this character for a while, but I did get her up to level 41. So now that I am interested in titan weapons again, I keep reading that TW/Ela is the best build, i.e., Electric Armor being the better secondary than Energy.

But is that for just Brutes or Scrappers as well? In other words, is TW/ElA good for a scrapper, or is TW/EA better for a scrapper?

I have a TW/Elec and a DB/Nrg and at the moment I am leaning towards /Nrg being the better secondary.

On my /Elec I managed to have endurance issues , and I would suspect both secondaries would have similar issues which puts /Nrg ahead because Energy Drain > whatever Elec uses.

Also I would not build an /Elec without Shadow Meld to hit the i-cap, which stops you picking up Physical Perfection to help with those endurance issues, and you have no such issue with /Nrg.

/Elec will help you do the greater damage I imagine (And probably slightly greater survivability assuming you take a specific build path), but I think /Nrg gives you greater freedom.

Thank you PrincessDarkstar. I favorite'd your other post about TW builds from a while back and am looking at them today. Maybe I need to revisit my TW/EA. Maybe I am just spoiled by my Elec/SD and DB/WP level 50 scrappers

So more freedom with /EA than /ElA, but a little less damage. Do I have that right?

You haven't played a tw/da scrapper then. It is insanely durable, deals large quantities of damage, and eats more end than you could ever hope to manage without LOTS of slotting.

I have one (scrapper, not brute) at 50, and its just super gravy. I wish I was a brute and not a scrapper tho for taunt aura, because when fighting +4s, they have a bad habit of running away after I have nuked 80% of their life. Thankfully I am end-problem free, due to lots of effort spent slotting. I am also always post 50% def, well over softcap, for both range and melee. What I do lack is aoe, which sits at a paltry 38%.

Oh, and @PrincessDarkstar, if I go to 50 with my TW/EA, should I get Physical Perfection, or Shadow Meld for iTrials?

And yes that is right.

It depends on how you want to play, some people are quite happy sitting in a trial on 45% defence (I am not which is why my DB/WP sits idle), in which case building for 32.5% and letting Physical Perfection help with your endurance might be good, plus all the barriers thrown around would help.

But I always prefer to build assuming I will get left alone (Since I have no idea where I am ever going on trials) so I would take Shadow Meld personally.

I know that different people have different opinions on that however, but I hate ever being hit with a debuff.

Now I remember it I think the lack of a taunt aura in /Elec was the killer for me. I didn't really like Momentum in the end because I play scrappers for that 100% uptime feeling and Momentum kind of made me feel like a brute chasing his Fury bar, but it was seeing everyone else steal aggro fro me that really got to me.

/Energy does have a taunt aura, however small which is probably another plus in it's favour.

We ARE exactly the same PrincessDarkstar! I was doing the Summer Event last night with several of my scrappers, the DB/WP, Elec/SD, TW/EA, and TW/ElA, and it was so disappointing playing as the TW/* scrappers, both of which were the only ones which died (in the coliseum portion).

You are dead on about chasing a TW's Momentum being like chasing Fury in a brute. That's why I like scrappers -- not having to pay attention to such things!! I may continue to level my TW/* scrappers up to 50 if I get bored, but probably not. They just doesn't feel right, especially while waiting for my Arc of Devastation to wind up, while watching a blaster come along and send all my potential foes flying away. Grrrrr!

Give me Lightning Rod and Shield Bash, or give me death!

So, what other scrapper builds do you enjoy PrincessDarkstar?

When I was deciding what secondary to play with TW it was going to be Elec or Energy and since I had picked Elec I wanted to play Energy.

So I retired my DB/WP and rerolled him as DB/Elec. I got him to 50 last weekend but haven't really logged on since because I know the next step is incarnate content which I don't really enjoy.

I have tried most combo's and I definitely think Elec/SD has spoiled me.

I am probably now going to hold off making any more until I see Super Strength of Energy Melee ported over. Depending on Bio Armor I might go for Kinetic/Bio but not sure.
