The powers were listed just to show what choices I had left, not necessarly what I was considering. I'm a inv/ss tank. I do have tough and weave. I really just want a classic tank build. A character who can take as much damage as he can put out. I just took to long to choose a power and lost my senses. lol Resist was probably the right choice all along and I just didn't see it.
Soon as I hit fifty I'll post my build and see what you guys think. -
With fitness becoming inherent I'm having a hard time deciding on a lvl 49 power. I'd like to stay clear of anything costly to my end. Here's are my choices:
Resist Energies
Hand Clap
Boxing
Focused Accuracy
Laser Beam Eyes
Energy Torrent
Resist Energies would be the obvious choice but from what I understand the benefit isn't all that great. What would you guys suggest? -
Hmph, well, I guess I misunderstood HOs all together. Do many people use the very rare stuff? What kind of sets to tanks use? I'm assuming it's ridiculous in price, curious all the same.
-
I've mentioned this before but I'm working on my first serious tank. With Call Me Awesome helping I think I've made a nicely built lvl 47 Invulnerable/Super Strength toon. Obviously I'm not done but I'm already curious about HOs. I don't exactly have the influence but I'd like to learn more about what to slot and where. Are HOs what people refer to when saying they're purping out their character?
Anyway, I was told to three slot Invincibility with cytoskeleton exposure but what other powers would I slot HOs in for the build?

I swear I should have named this "dumb questions a first time tanker asks." lol
I'm now at lvl 47. The cytoskeleton exposure, do I three slot invincibility with them or do I also use them on various other defensive powers? -
To clarify. I was in a rush earlier and misread the post mixing up defense/resistance. With tough, temp inv, unyielding, invincibility, and weave all on I get these numbers on defense:
Ranged 11.13
Melee 16.13
AOE 8.
Smashing 31.25
Lethal 31.25
Fire 15.
Cold 15.
Energy 21.25
Negative 21.25
Psionic 8.
This is pretty much to spec with the suggestions I’ve been getting from Call Me Awesome the last couple weeks. I'm assuming that's pretty good for a lvl 42 tank?
Once again. I really appreciate all the help I’ve been getting here on the forums. Like I’ve said, this is my first tank. So I’m learning a lot from you great people. -
Thanks for all the help guys. There was just this little part of me that kept saying "More hits! More hits!" I've seen the error of my ways. I definently don't want to put any extra strain on my end, even if I'm doing alright at the moment. Weave it is.
-
I'm doing much better end wise now that I've added an extra slot for each of my major defenses. I can run a single mish with a full team (without rest) and have to pop a blue only once. As far as my other resistance it goes:
Ranged 6.13
Melee 11.13
AOE 3.
Fire 9.99
Cold 9.99
Energy 16.24
Negative 16.24
Psionic 3.
This is my first serious tank so I'm not even sure what good numbers would be. Anyway, with that in mind which power do you think I should take? -
I'm respecing out of handclap. I'm a lvl 43 ss/inv tank and capped on my smashing/lethal resistance. I took conserve power earlier in the build and now wonder what I should choose in place of handclap. Would I get a big enough benefit from weave to take it at the moment? Or should I combine conserve power with hasten for more hits per minute?
-
Alright, thanks. I'll repost there to see what other feedback I get.
-
Okay, so I'm respecing out of handclap which leaves me room for another power. I'm lvl 43 and capped on my smashing/lethal resistance. I took conserve power and now wonder what I should choose in place of handclap. Would I get a big enough benefit from weave to take it? Or should I combine conserve power and hasten for more frequent hits?
-
For me Hand Clap has been a nice panic button when soloing. My build wasn't all that great before and I used it to clear a room before my get away. I'll likely respec out of it before long.
-
Well, I got lucky and happened across IOs for the majority of the build. I immediately went out in search of a mob. Even being lvl 35 I still took out eight lvl 38 crey crisis units and only lost a quarter of my health bar. If that. Wow! However I wasn't able to take on a lvl 40 paragon protector. I did get in a few good hits though. Hehe. With the main three toggles on and using the majority of my SS powers I did however plow through my end. Nothing some blues won't take care of.
So how should I go about slotting powers like invincibility, tough hide, handclap, rage and hurl? I'll look around and see what I can find anyway.
I may actually have fun with my first tank build now. lol Thanks for the help guys. -
Well, I'm starting to think it's going to be well over a month before the market returns to normal. At least for high end enhancements. I've placed multiple bids on both lvl 30/35 reactive armor and check the market daily. Not just for those two lvls of enhance but 20s-40s. I've placed 5mil each bids but it's turned up nothing. Mainly because there's nothing to bid on. Each day I search through 20-40 enhance and out of the 80 possible enhance available there might be five for sale at a given time. None from the same set.
I know this is due to the merger and people have better things to do at the moment but man did I choose a bad time to go "all in" with my tank. lol Just venting I guess. -
Thanks for the help guys. Very informative. I think I'm going to wait out the market for a couple weeks and then start placing bids. A single Reactive Armor enhancement is something like 10 or more million right now. So a set would run close to 50. Trying to get the "almost granite" like tanker in Call Me Awesome's guide by having four or five sets for Inv just isn't cost effective right now. I'm cool with spending one or two hundred mil for a build but five or six is a little much. Hopefully things will cool down before long and I can get a nice build out of it.
-
So I'm looking for Reactive Armor. lol There's none for sale. Even then you could hardly afford it. What other option do I have for enhancing Inv?
-
How do you slot your super strength tank and what IOs are best? I have a lvl 35 toon who's my first serious tank and I want to take him to the next lvl. I've been reading through the guides and think I have a firm grasp on invincibility but I haven't seen much on enhancing SS. I plan to respec as soon as I figure it all out. What would be some suggestions I could apply here?
-
Thanks for the tip. I do that all the time. I'm just concerned with my original question for the sake of server transfers.
-
I meant in general. Not what servers are currently the most populated. Meaning, if they were ranked by most members per server what would the top five be.
-
Transferring some characters I started to wonder what the top five servers currently are. I'd like to add what toons I have to more populated servers so I might have a better chance at teaming etc. I'm guessing Freedom would be at the top of that list. What would the other four be?
-
Well, damn. I wait around all day to play and this is what I get. 2 to 4. Perfectly plotted to take up what little time I had to play. lol Go figure.
-
Just got the same seconds ago on Freedom. So it's still happening. I get the "lost connection to DBserver" and then "this account is already logged in." Not to mention that I can't log into my master account for coh.
-
Nice, I was really hoping some of the stuff I saw in the vids would be making it into the game. I've gotten to a point where I consistently hang at the tailor or facemaker when not on missions.
-
So you cant talk about them for fear of being banned? That's just plain stupid. Oh well.
