At a quick guess, I take it you're asking so that you can taper the end of your lines better?
My suggestion for this (and the method I use) is using a new layer for all the black linework, and using both the rounded brush and the eraser to help get the lines tapering how and where I want.
And the tip to keep it speedy? Keyboard shortcuts are your friend - E = Eraser & B = Brush -

Torn between Alex's Sister Pscyhe and Toxic's cute Blue Steel.
My Fiancee was made visibly sick by Sister Psyche, and I'd be afraid to show it to my children.
So I think I'm gonna vote for Toxic's Blue Steel, it's cute, chibi edge won me over. -
Depends what you have access to, if you can swap it to a vector image first (ie - have Illustrator, then live trace and refill the colours) you should be able to avoid the fuzziness.
But I do like the .gif -

I wrote this awhile back... short series of articles that was in the Scoop about collecting character art. I compiled it into a small guide that folks never really read. *shrugs* Might help you, might not. The hyper-links are broken, as I've moved and re-organized my albums.
Collecting Character Art

That's an awesome guide, and I LOVE that you remember to mention "Include a 3/4 turn" not just "front, profile, rear" as an artist I gotta say that it is phenomenally helpful. -
I'd certainly do a commission for influence or unique IOs,
I'm mainly on Justice though,
And yeah, price can be a funny thing, I've got something in my Bio that talks about some of my work as an artist. someone read the bio and tried to offer 500,000.
I had to say "Sorry", even with an extra '0' I'm not going that low, it's got to be enough to get me a decent unique or two.
(This is after all in an attempt to upgrade my various 50s)
So, With that said, I do an awesome, cartoonish style and am available for commission, let me know if you're interested. -
I'm sort of in the same boat, I've tried a little research, but chances are I'm way off, if anyone can help me out with similar information I'd be very appreciative, thanks
(my Deviant Art page) -
Sure,
um, hang on? what's in it for me?,
And do you at least have a basic character outline to hang it off?
yeah, guess I'll file it in my big ol' to-do list as well.
(But hey, if you play on justice, I'll trade you for a hefty sum of influence) -
Not sure what program you're using, but I use Photoshop, and yep it's pretty easy to make animated gifs with it, with it, fuzzing up shouldn't be a problem, (but if you're using more than one layer you will want to merge visible first, because it picks up the edges of linework in an odd way)
Thing is, there is often a very big difference between how Photoshop will displays the image as the initial raster .psd, and how it will appear after being saved as a jpeg, gif or png.
Gifs (and jpegs) are a really forgiving format, just make sure the original images have strong enough contrast,
and good luck -
Or you could get one of the many awesome artists out there to do it for you,
Heck I'd do it for you, send me a screenie of your ingame character and I'll work up a simple head/bust shot for you.
(but for anything larger, my regular commission details are in my sig) -
So firstly, I want to say, I REALLY love the character in the piece, and the lighting/colouring is awesome,
But I will also agree that there is no centre of attention to the piece,
So, for me, ANY piece, must be it's own mini-story, it doesn't have to be much, But this one feels static.
So the easy fix i'm going to suggest to really lift the piece to epic proportions is -
1- Drop the background, then
2 - add a wider area around the canvas, with an extra chunk of 'space' at the bottom (and perhaps a softly hinted at horizon line/background)
3 - In that empty space at the bottom, a set of menacing shadows, for example, gangbangers with Baseball bats/more chains.
= Voila, Instant story, He's now waiting with purpose, and the audience knows that there is about to be conflict, danger and excitement.
(and hey, if that makes it pop, you've got cover art, or even poster art for the planned comic?)
Anyway, that's my two cents,
But, on a slight tangent, as an artist who also finds chains to be a pain to sketch, what was the "technique" you used? -

Wow, this is the first I've seen of the Fan-art challenges on these boards, and even though I'm not in the running you inspired me - to do this.
[/ QUOTE ]Your colouring is *very* clean. What size do you work at?
[/ QUOTE ]
Honestly, not all that large, that one was 4500x4500 (anything I do with a paycheck attached is usually over 7000wide) and thanks for the compliments on the colouring (that's always the part I feel lets my work down the most)
And Thankyou to everyone else for your compliments, good luck with this month's comp -

Hi all,
The Background -
Some of you may already know me, I've been doing the "Hecktic Life" strips that have been featuring in the City Scoop.
I'm also a Comissionable Artist (Portfolio examples can be found Here & Here )
But the reason I'm posting here is because I'm trying to finish a build for my BS/Shield Scrapper on Justice, she's fresh out of Influence and still has a long way to go so -
The Offer -
I'm looking to trade-
My Fan-art showing your characters for tasty, tasty loot.
(Influence preferred, but will accept LotG Recharge, or Armageddon Uniques, just not the Damage one)
Anyway, let me know, either in game (my global is @Reynemaker) PM, or direct via Email (found on my Deviant Art page & my webcomic )
(And Yes, I'm still looking for any other work available, just visit the website if you would like some Art done for you)
Thankyou -
