This movie should do well...even with Fox behind it. The Pre-stuff is always interesting....

If you can form your own league you have greater control of how may +3s are in it and the group make up. I think many will still want this control. Merit bonus is a poor reward if you fail the trial. I have seen noobs do all sorts of strange things on trials that cause them to fail, the foremost being not listening to the leader.
I won't argue with you on the first point but the rest I will make comment on. If you want to control your team, you will get less merits Period...but you get control.

About the noobs, many just want the merits, man!!! They don't give a flying.... about the trial's success. Seriously, many are just trying to keep up with the content. I have friends that aren't even doing alpha because of its rigors. I have several 50s now I just minted that I won't be able to do alpha until 2012....it's just that demanding.

Edit: Never underestimate the greed of some players.
I don't and I'm betting on it. Greed will force you to work with anyone. The LFG queue will allow others to join in progress...this won't work quite like you said. The control freaks won't do the open LFG.

Of course, that would require Supergroups to function as Co-op Locations, so you could invite anyone from anywhere to your League (not Team, League) from your SG Base. You could then use the Mission Computer (Base Item) to sign up for an Incarnate Trial, and it would open the typical LFG window to do so. People would have the option of using the Raid Teleporter to get to the Incarnate Trial, instead of just waiting around for the counter to complete.

Seriously ... the entire "Functionality" needed to form up and launch Incarnate Leagues is sitting inside the Supergroup Bases (which are gathering dust after all these years of neglect).

By no means am I saying that SG Bases ought to REPLACE the Incarnate system we've got now ... just merely that the Incarnate system we've got could be EASILY EXPANDED to make very good use of SG Bases, and their built in resources.
Nonsense...SGs only make sense if your the leader.
  6. Liars have a lot to to with this. All of those players that quit are usually people who ran out of time and dropped. Have you never played Tfs? They come on and to get a few threads or shards and drop. I tell everyone when I play that my runs are 2 hours just to weed out these types.

My only comment to this is the PUG queue needs to be set to the highest setting not the minimum or allow members to join in progess. If you want less then go to Pocket D. We can't fix liars...people who lie to get on a team with no intention of staying the whole time. 20.5's solution is progressive.
  8. 20.5 will change that. PUG LFG will award more merits than private ones...Issue closed!!
  9. Why do we need a zone? The LFG will activate wherever you are. So just start it next to the market and you'll go back there after the trial. Why are you posting this?

I don't need to be so crass. This is a big film. Personally, I think they should use nobodies and bring up the next generation but these type of movies always use the "hot" actor/actresses at the moment. The sould have used someone younger for Emma but January probably made a personal plea and "a visit" and got the role. This is Hollywood.

If memory serves, around the beginning of Generation X, Emma was strongly implied to be in her mid to late 30's. From that point I took her to be that age, until a recent comic where she whines on panel to the effect of "26 isn't that old!"
I haven't seen this, I see it tomorrow. What did you want from Emma/Jones? She's just eye-candy anyway. I mean in the comics, Emma was like a Sister Psyche but with better clothes and more money. The stuff Emma did, how can you show in a movie? Her world is mental. If Jones was subdued/stoic then she played the role right.

  14. What's really sad is that I was online enough this weekend that I could see and "mark" these types.

I started using the notes under each character and added "doorsitter" to several so I know in the future to not even contact them.

It got to be so bad this weekend that on Sunday I recruited only Under 30.

Thing is that my post seems to have drawn out quite a few people who are finding ways to create more of an enterainment factor than I even imagined possible...
I understand your delimma, Dr. G. I did 4 days hardcore this past weekend and the stuff I could complain will fill post after post. I have never seen so many doorsitters and TV watchers. I finally became the monster and started kicking people. I was as patience as possible though. I asked them if they were ok? I asked them if they knew how to get to the zone? I asked them if pizza was being delivered? I asked if they were dealing with wife aggro? When they said no to all of my questions I asked the team if I could kick them and they said, "Hell yes!"

Farscape vs. Firefly? Firefly was too country for me. It felt like a "Hangover" in outer space(with humans only). I watched it completely but I can't watch it a second time. Farscape the series I own. Soundtrack and everything. The crew in Farscape were so different(all aliens) from each other that the interactions were just priceless,

Firefly is must see for the reason mentioned above...lots of big stars now got a start/boost there.

Got everything vital just about done, so I'm moving on to the rest, which includes City of Heroes.

Can I just copy the folder out like I used to be able to with the old launcher? You know, copy out the files, run the launcher and point it to a folder, then copy everything back and let it verify the files? Does that work with the NCSoft Launcher?

Also, since I'm asking, anything I should know about running CoH on Windows 7? Getting a mostly new PC tomorrow, only carrying over GFX card, my DVD drive, and harddrive. Are there any compatibility issues I should know about? I remember when Vista was new. That was "fun".
Yes. Also, the game will run better under win7

1.Copy over the folder first to the same location.
    2.Then install the NCSOFT installer.
    3. Run the updater to verify and it should work, it may even go right away if you current with the patches.

  19. My weekend had mixed results. I didn't reach all of my goals this weekend:

    Summary:

-I got 110 shards this weekend. I migrated 12 slots totals(created 8) and moved them up the trees. I thought I could fill out the all of the missing slots in a weekend but I underestimated how much actual work it is.

-My WST tuesday morning didn't hit/award on the villain side. I got a B.S excuse on why it didn't award from the helpdesk. My case is pending.

    - I learned a great deal about the hero corps and how this affects the drops. I should have paid more attention to this. My weekend could have been more productive.

http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Notoriety. I still wish I had a clear understanding of these specific settings and how drops are affected:

-- Does not prefer to fight Arch-Villains. Does this sound correct?

I want to change the level I fight
    • I want to fight enemies that are -1 to my level.
    • I want to fight enemies that are +0 to my level.
    • I want to fight enemies that are +1 to my level.
    • I want to fight enemies that are +2 to my level.
    • I want to fight enemies that are +3 to my level.
    • I want to fight enemies that are +4 to my level.
We've updated our data files, you are now marked as wanting to fight enemies -/+X to your level. I want to change the number of heroes to which I'm equivalent
    • I think I'm as good or better than 1 standard heroes.
    • I think I'm as good or better than 2 standard heroes.
    • I think I'm as good or better than 3 standard heroes.
    • I think I'm as good or better than 4 standard heroes.
    • I think I'm as good or better than 5 standard heroes.
    • I think I'm as good or better than 6 standard heroes.
    • I think I'm as good or better than 7 standard heroes.
    • I think I'm as good or better than 8 standard heroes.
We've updated our data files, you are now marked as equivalent to X standard heroes.

    - Ouroborous needs to be merged into the same instance for both villain and heroes Period. Recruting for this TF was hell.

    - On Saturday, I was running an ITF which I posted the results for. I think I could have broken all records if the devs wouldn't have posted an "instance closing" message during the end of our run.

    - My results/shard drops diminshed when I ran the other tfs. I might have been able to farm them better if I had higher quality players. I have to do a better job of planning next time. I need farmers.

All in all, I felt my progress could be better. I'm wondering have to move this thread forward. I can't do this with speed runs only.

I had a hard and difficult time inside of CoH this weekend.
  20. Can I ask you guys a question? I play this game heavily during holiday weekend breaks. I've started playing my under 50s more because the cooldown timer is bugged and I feel these incarnate powers are glorified temp powers.

Also, the lag and now this "abundant amount of pets" is just rubbing me the wrong way. I did a Shard run this weekend and got 100 shard and crafted barely 12 slots(migrations).

That is *exactly* the hybrid F2P model that most subscription MMOs have converted to recently, including Turbine.

If you read the article carefully, you'll see that they take it completely for granted that free access to multiplayer and ala carte pricing of DLC is a given: it already exists and is wildly successful. What is being discussed as being the huge gamble on the part of Activision is fee-based premium subscription services. In other words, CoD is already based on the F2P model (at least, for online services beyond the box purchase, just like Guild Wars). Nowhere does anyone within that article question the F2P model, because its already a proven quantity for CoD. The big question is on subscription services itself.

They are coming towards the hybrid model from the opposite direction: from F2P adding subscription, rather than subscription adding F2P. Far from supporting your contention that F2P is a "faith-based model" the CoD situation is one where F2P is *the* model, and subscriptions are the novelty leap of faith.
Lot's of gaming news today. Let me review this some more.

Cryptic is going F2P now for sure, http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/3...ic_Studios.php

My point in posting this is back to my argument that "business" wants a for profit model. F2P is a faith-based model.

Hit the hammer on the head of the nail here. I played last weekend with a guy who swore by it. He didn't know that his minions will appear next to him at 179 feet automatically. I told him this but he keep using it. I finally told him it reduces accuracy but he just didn't get it...so I kicked him. Group fly is like a beautiful woman. It looks sexy until you start to interact with it. Group fly is for the inexperienced.
