R.I.P Patricia Neal. One of my friends has a t-shirt with that phrase on it, so I can never forget about that movie.

I do have a set play order for my characters, highest-level to lowest. I don't have a set time for each, I play until I'm satisfied with their progress, or they get defeated twice in a row on the same mish.
What makes it fun for me right now is exploring alts and ATs. I plan to have at least one character of each AT, with multiples for the ones I like. I often newspaper and almost never radio. My villains are more skilled at robbing banks than my heroes are at stopping bank robberies.
I play full screen and have multiple browser windows open in the background, starting with the CoH forums and usually the Paragon Wiki.
I hang out on a Vent server with friends from another MMO, so I can keep in touch with them.
Ritual-like behavior:
Some form of caffine to drink: Coffee, tea, Monster, Rock Star, Red Buff
Start a character play session checking the AH for sold items
Go through a character's mission list from lowest level to highest level mission
Do newspapers when stuck on my villain's mish list
Skim the forums inbetween character play sessions looking for stuff to comment on -
OOC
I have to apologize. This is a piece of a single-author storyline. I didn't know I should have labeled it that. I don't have the confidence or experience with forum role-play to do open role-play, yet.
I like to write short scenes about my characters which give some insight into them. I'm just getting started with Red Oukami. -
Akira wandered into the Pocket D club. It wasnt the first time he had been in here. He didnt think it would be his last. He walked up to the bartender and gave his order, whiskey on the rocks. Within a moment, he had a glass of amber liquid and he took his place at the bar.
He had heard a rumor that this night of the week a group of people like him, super-powered, met here. So he sat with his ears open to the chatter of the crowd.
While he waited for another of his kind, he nursed his drink and reflected on the past year and a half. It was eighteen months ago that he had left Japan and had come to Paragon City, hoping to put his then-new abilities to good use. His American contact nicknamed him Red, for the color of his dyed hair. After the incident with the Outbreak drug, he was given the code name Red Oukami by city officials, since there was already a Red Wolf in the city.
From the time of Outbreak through today, Akira had encountered many strange people in his quest to better his abilities. Some of them may no longer have been people, but had become as close to monsters as the world would allow. He had done many amazing things as an American superhero, had entered a part of a community unlike anything in his native Japan.
While a life of adventure had its satisfactions, he wanted more. He wanted to be able to speak with people who understood what he did and who could understand why. -
Welcome back, Aurora Girl. 8-) I kind of remember your posts from a time when I read the forums before I joined.
-
Aurora Girl, thank you. I plan to go to Virtue eventually, but I'm not sure I want to have "stock" catgirl there.
I have seen at least three other catgirls in Went's on Pinn, so I know there are more out there.
I haven't figured out how to make the idea work so it'd be acceptable to other role-players, which I have learned is an important part of MMO role-play. I'd guess that I'd charge a nominal Inf fee that they could afford for their level. A favor for a favor would be free, of course. -

My villains will be staying in the Rogue Isles, just as my heroes will be staying Paragon City.
I prefer to play solo so I don't have the responsibility of making a mistake fouling up a team. I chat with a lot of people on one of my server's global channels, but it takes some coaxing for me to team.
My character's themes are pretty firmly in place in my head, so they won't likely change alignment. -
@KemiLi: Thanks. I have begun skimming the RP section to get a feel for how to do to it in CoH. It's a bit different than a pencil and paper game. I have read about how to role-play this way, in general, things not to do like "god modding".
My search-fu is weak, still I'll give it a shot looking in Pinnacle supergroups.
@Dark Omega: Thank you for the tip. I'll make a note of it and stop in Pocket D on a Tuesday night. -
@Dark Omega: I've read about Virtue and some of the role-playing that goes on there. I'm reluctant to do more than check it out.
I did get a compliment on Miss Cornish's bio within the past month.
I did skim the role-playing forum and I did not have the confidence to post something there. I've been doing paper-and-pencil roleplaying for some time. I have only tried a little MMO role-playing since 2007. CoH has encouraged me to start with a bare bones idea, like "'wolf martial artist" or "cat-like scrapper" and organically grow the character concept into something like comic book fiction. -
Hi, ho. Red the werewolf here with another post which doesn't exactly fit somewhere else.
Another player on Pinnacle gave me this idea. My scrapper, Miss Cornish, could hire herself out as a mercenary for characters or groups level 30 or below. Her origin story has a military background and she's disgruntled with official military structures. She's a cat girl combat cyborg who lost an arm in a military exercise.
Note, that while I don't role-play in MMOs, I do have ideas how my characters respond to certain situations, as I suggested in my previous post, the one about Mr. Bruise. I felt this post was sufficiently out of character that it wouldn't go on in the role-play board. -
Thank you Neuronia for the suggestion. I feel like I'm the caretaker of the group, since I'm one of two people who have logged in within the past year. I'll keep an eye out for VGs as I continue to play. I might try hanging out on Mercy looking for recruiters.
Thanks. I've seen you in Cozmic's, too. I hope to team with you, too. -
@KemLi: Thanks. I don't exactly role-play in MMOs but I do have an idea in my head of how to play my character. The shoe thing was a bit of spontanious character development.
@JKwervo: Ah. This was a brief note on my expanding activities on Pinn. If it wasn't so specific, I would have posted something in City Life.
Should I have asked, "Could someone help me revive the villain group I now lead?", which would have gone under Supergroup Recruitment. -
I have been playing CoH steadily for two months now and a lot has changed since I restarted. I have better than doubled the number of characters I am playing. I am looking foreword to exploring all the ATs. So far, I have the most success with a tank and a brute.
Yes, I have gotten back into playing Mr. Bruise, gentleman criminal. He has been using his signature attack, a size 20 Gucci shoe to the face. And that's "Mister Bruise" to anyone who doesn't know the man well. He expects some respect. As I mentioned before, he inherited a villain group, "The League of Extraordinarily Gentle Men". Apparently, the next-most-active player promoted him to Overlord. I have not been doing any recruiting, because I don't know that many people redside who are as active as I am. I expect that will change as he continues to rumble toward the level cap.

Quote:Glad to hear it, Bonyfinger. The game has felt fresh to me this time around, too.I have to say I'm having a blast, I've been gone so long it's like a totally new game!
Thank you, XFUNK. 8-) -
Thank you, Jade_Forest.
I played less often until recently because I was stuck in the mid-forties with my main, Red Oukami. I tried created some more alts and that seems to have eased the pressure to level.
I found out last night that one of my characters, Mr. Bruise, has been promoted to the leadership of a villain group on Pinnacle. I'm going to have to log in once a month from now on to pay the base rent.I have no idea how to run a supergroup. o.O I've never lead an online group like that before. I'd like to make it an active group, but I don't really know what to do. I'm satisfied that it's a one-person supergroup so far.

Thanks for the welcome back.
Thank you, Neuronia, I joined Cozmic's Playground soon after I started playing in November of 2008. It's a good channel for teaming and helping other players out.
I know how BonyFinger felt. When I came back, I had to knock the rust off my skills and remember to do things like periodically fill up my inspiration inventory. It took a little while to remember which powers did what. It'll come back to you, BonyFinger. 8-) -
Quote:This idea really stuck out at me. I'd like to see mummies in CoH. The Banished Pantheon has shambling zombie-type mobs. How about mummies more like a certain Brendan Frazier-starring movie?Egyptians and Aztecs would be neat.
I agree with the notion that some new maps for public buildings would be cool. Especially with painting stealing, the scope for a TF (or one-off missions/mission arcs) involving a museum and mummies etc! -
I have been thinking about this for a couple days. I don't object to the OP's suggestion of making them fixed priced, like the grenades at the Arena. I have only explored the use of a small number of these powers. I have used and liked Hand Grenades and the Revolver. I found the Revolver to be a useful finishing move for my low-level character.

Thanks for the welcome back.
I agree, GR is going to be a blast. 8-) -
I have been back about a month on my yearly visit to CoX. Pinnacle seems more quiet than I remember it. Activity has been picking up as Going Rogue gets closer. I have chatted with some people old and new. I have noticed lots of little changes in the game since the last time I was here, mostly quality of life stuff, which I think is cool. I think I'll be able to hang around until Going Rogue goes live, and after. I'm really looking foreward to the expansion.
