CO better have villains, then i might actually be motivated to try it x)
-
I share the same position.
I am an advocate of farming. It creates positive supply and demand for the economy, which redside needs. The more inf going in, the better!
For the veteran players it's great.
For newbs, when you see a lvl 50 who doesn't know what grandville is, it sucks. But you CAN just teach them. And as vets, i should hope everyone else can forgive noobs too. -
This is beginning to bore me. I'm no coding expert, but sorudo i honestly think you're acting more of an expert on this subject than you really are.
In all honesty, none of us know the real method NCsoft uses to develop it's games. I took a stab at it by suggesting the usual method of game development (5 designers and 1 programmer per team, and the teams focus on different aspects)
But i don't know how NCsoft work, what their engine is capable of, and how easy anything would be to implement in the game. -
Signed.
I want this awesome stuff too! -

So far, the voice work in the trailers seems ok, so if that was the level it was at in game, I think it'd be fine.

That and Recluse as he is portrayed on the Grandeville propoganda screens. He sounds perfect there ^^

Yep! +1 to all that. -
Maybe, maybe maybe.
Maybe it would take 1 hour because NCsoft employers talented 3D modellers?
All your hypothetical claims really aren't doing anything to convince me. -
He said designing a game, not programming. So on that basis, i'm going to take what i said over what he said. And yes, Lost makes a good point.

with an almost empty game, no wonder....

Thanks for the support...if you don't have anything constructive or supportive to say, don't say anything.

He's entitled to his input -
That could get tedious when you're having a long conversation or something.
For example, i like to activate the /talk emo, and then just enjoy a long conversation standing next to one of my friends.
I want the same for the rest! -
And i'm really glad you don't work with any known developers or on any commercial game that i'm likely to ever play.
We don't have recluses legs, crab spiders have legs that are alot better (Not rusted, thin, ugly).
And yes planning can take ages, did you think no one knew that?
Aside that, i really didn't see any purpose in your post. -
Random NPCs don't need dialogue, maybe just the Arachnos elites, EBs and contacts???
-
Just because you say something is going to make a game worse doesn't mean it is the case. And stop making a straw man argument out of what i said, i never tried to de-rail anyone's suggestions.
And whether CoH is a next or last gen MMO will determine it's survival compared to other MMOs that compete to steal it's fanbase, so i am sure the devs are interested in keeping up.
And how the hell do you know if voicing is going to improve the game or make it worse? Answer: You don't because it hasn't been tried or tested yet.
And also, to tidy up your last point: The purpose of contacts greeting players would be to add a measure of immersion.
And your point not everyone plays the same is irrelvant to how sound would impact their play. Hell, even make download of the sound files optional for those who don't play with sound, problem solved.
Before anyone comes back saying it won't add any immersion whatsoever, that's for everyone to decide themselves.
And when i say i don't mean someone to take something personally, i don't mean it. I always mean what i say, and if i say something, try to take it at face value. I try to rely on as few assumptions as possible; most of the time people misinterpret them and misunderstand what i say.
So try to give a post some thought before assuming it's out to attack you -

Lost makes a very good point, it is of no consequence to players how difficult or how many time hours it will take.
The way game development works is as such; 5 designers or so to 1 programmer. They all come up with a concept, and the programmer implements it.
They have different programmers for different sections. If they decide to dedicate 1 design team and 1 programmer to each aspect of development, then so be it.
By this means, we could have uber AI in no time!

I don't think that's the set up at paragon they seem to have teems that are dedicated to aspects of the game so you have the power guys and the mission design guys and zone guys etc etc but with a fair bit of cross pollination on the older members part probably because when they were just a small team they did multiple jobs and had to learn new skills.

About the dedicated teams, i explained that in one of my posts after that i'm sure, but thanks for re-iterating, still it should be no problem methinks! -
Question on Lord Recluse
What's with the bomber jacket fur on his spider backpack? Is it because it's actually an organic, err, organ? or does he just have good fashion sense?
Also, is Recluse feeling the need to upgrade those rusted, ancient legs on his back? (Even Crab spiders legs look cooler)
ALSO, are we gonna see anything of the guy who started Arachnos? By this i mean, THE WEAVER!!! -
Exactly. Which is why this game is awesome, you can choose to play however you want.
-
Well as the NCsoft development team grows in numbers, they will be able to have a team working on new issues, powersets etc, and spare teams can work on less critical updates like this.
As you saw by the way i explained how development (usually) works, a studio with a big working force can still focus it's best designers (positron, castle etc) on the critical elements, and still have some designers working on this kind of stuff at the same time.
This way, even if it takes time, it's inconsequential because the critical aspects are still being developed in full swing by the main guys. And because both are being worked on by different teams, they can be developed to the fullest at the same time. -
Thanks Croesis and Imoba, NEVER sacrificequality for file space! Haha

Good, anymore help in confirming animation compatability would be great.
I told u animations could scale perfectly! -
We're going to have to download stuff anyway, so it doesn't matter.
If you're going to dislike a suggestion, dislike it for it's content, not it's delivery.
Voiced NPC dialogue would be uber. Sound revamp would be uber, i'm in for it all! -
Not necessarily, like i said, AS FAR AS I KNOW (not sure in other words) Animations can be designed to tell the distinguished part of a character model's body to move in a certain way.
So if it does use a formula, this of which is still speculation by me, commanding the leg part of a 3 foot tall character model to move in a certain way, could perfectly scale to a character 8 foot tall. -

Well i assume animations working are based on what body parts are being made to do the moving. As long as as each body part is assigned it's proper name and the animation tells it to move as such, shouldn't it scale for every kind of character?
I don't understand much about the way animating character models (or anything) works, but i was just taking a guess, so i'm not sure. -
I usually look at the market for purple enhancements, then if it is expensive, i look at the recipes, and see if they'rre alot cheaper, then craft.
I mostly delete my recipes cos i get useless ones. -
You're exactly right :P
The devs should just make walk a power given to every new character, and existing.
