  1. Yeap, i'll take that in mind, but at the same time i'm not too creative with mids and my builds, could i get some help with a build in mids? Sorry to be a bother, and i'm only really concearned with getting the right moves and the right slots, even if i have to take the good moves later on i'm sure i won't have too much of a problem struggling through the levels.

Think this is what you're after:CoH fansite kit from US site

Think the CoV and CoH one are the same, though I haven't checked.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nope that's not it that's the [censored] heroes one, i'm after the villain one :<
  3. The map is a tech abandoned set, medium i believe.

And the boss is a boss class enemy, with text and the like. It just appears at the front, but ONLy when there is more than 2 people in the team.

Otherwise, the map seems to define the spawn points for my events pretty well.

    cov fansite kit?

Hi i was wondering where i could download the cov fansite. Since everyone knows the devs don't really care about villains and it's becoming more apparent with the latest website changes (i.e, cityofvillains.com rdirects to cityofheroes)

And the EU websites are pretty poor, i was wondering if anyone had mirrored the file so i could download it? All the content is on the cityofheroes wiki, but i don't fancy downloading them all 1 at a time.

On a related note, it's a shame COV is always living in [censored] coh's shadow. Thanks for any help
  5. You registered for the EU version and not the US right?
  6. Hi, my mission is difficult when alone, which is what i'm aiming for.

My problem begins when i test my mission in a team. My settings have the boss set to the 'back' of the map. However when a team with me enters it (was only 3 members) the boss always spawns right at the front. It's annoying, and any help is appreciated on how to fix this.
  7. Well i'm talking about farming as a concept rather than MA farming. My only problem with MA is the draconic punishment system the devs made to stop it.
  8. I never said the devs never placed any restrictions, but the ones they did place, like every attempt they've made to stop farming, havn't been very effective have they?

And farming contributes positively to the economy, it creates supply and demand for high value and rare items, like purples. Chances are if no one farmed, there would be a lot less purples and price would sky rocket and no one be happy.

And no, farming doesn't, and wouldn't speed up the levelling process unless farming was the average method people use to level. Don't forget the majority of players are the normal ones, not the farmers.

If you look to example 1 i've provided, lvling from 1-50 in a single enemy DOES NOT negatively affect ANYONE.

[/ QUOTE ]Oh [censored] wow. Do you actually believe this stuff or are you just trolling?

Give the players a button that'll instantly level their characters to 50 and the game will be dead in half a year.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It will also affect anyone that 'buttoned' level 50 is teaming with, who has no idea on any strategy or tactic. Espically a tanker (taunting and herding etc)...

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's up to the person who wanted to be powerlevelled. Assuming they have played other MMO's in their life, they will know what training/kiting/herding, and with a little thought can easily gain knowledge of taunting.

The fact of the matter is an exploit, to be an exploit has to give an unfair advantage to a player OVER another player. Since farming does not negatively affect anyone's gaming experience or degrade the quality of play, it is not an exploit.

Also, the devs are doing a poor job leaving us to argue it out ourselves instead of coming out and saying exactly what and when all this MA punishment is going to be done.

They will never stop farming, and they KNEW the problems the MA system would create, yet they did NOTHING until it was launched on LIVE servers to start fixing this problem.
  10. Hi, i came up with this build in mids. I was wondering if i should slot the moves any differently, or if there were any improvements i could make (corruptor noob here, 1st ever one)

    The Perfect CoX

I think his perfect vision of cov sounds nice. I'd certainly enjoy it!
  14. I'm not intending to do that.

I agree with what you said, but that DOES NOTA go to say devs should DISALLOW something which up to this point has in reality been seemingly harmless, despite people claiming it is harmful to the game.

Farming allows social interaction, creates supply and demand for the economy, and no matter how you look at it, for the people that do it, it's a motivation to get involved with the game and players actively. It's called farming for a reason.
  15. Another reason the devs should not be so draconic in the enforcement of their gaming philosophies.

They did, perhaps - some people are blaming the Q and A session Positron had on the Euro Test server for the feedback about the anti-farming majority he mentioned

And how successful would the game be if no players played it? If everyone disagreed with the devs who would be right then?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Both sides

No one's forced to play a game against their will

Like WoW - I don't like the look of it, which means that the spirit of the game there doesn't appeal to me - but that doesn't mean that the spirit of the game is wrong - 11 million seem to like it, after all

    [/ QUOTE ]

if you read the WoW forums ever, you'd discover most people think the blizzard developers are greedy, for reasons that i won't go into because it's off topic. Ask me over PM if you're truly interested.

Farming has always existed. Farming has survived the devs previous attempts, and by god it will not die with this attempt. I see some fair points have been made. It's good to see the players have engaged in some intellectual disscussion.

If we could only dream the devs would take notice of us unimportant europeans.
  18. 'everyone having 50s in under a day of game play is bad, it stops players having to leave Cap or Atlas an gives players every toon they could want too easily. plus the inf gained is excessive not major but excessive.''

I can see how this would leave a big gap between new players, new characters and the level 50s, as everyone would be essentially a lowbie, or a very higbie (50).

I never said the devs shouldn't take action, i merely suggested a tyrannical punishment system would not solve the problem, and that farming is not exploiting. The 3 active topics i've been posting in the forum today i have only been arguing those 2 points.
  19. I have 2 examples instead of 3, on page 2 or 3 or 4.
  20. And how successful would the game be if no players played it? If everyone disagreed with the devs who would be right then?
  21. You do not define the spirit of the game, neithe do the devs. 'Spirit of the game' is a subjective concept and based on your experiences you may define it differently.

And just because players are using a concept that was purposely designed in the game 'the concept of levelling' if they decide to maximise their output, they are not doing ANYTHING the devs did not intend them to do.

Did the devs intend players to have a stressful and difficult time levelling? No.
  22. The differences are irrelevant at this point; the benefits of farming are clear, while there are some obvious adverse effects (if purples become too common, they will lose all value)

However the devs have introduced this punishment system to punish farmers for it, to reduce the risk of players ruining what is essentially a player driven economy.
  23. Good suggestion golden girl, but to be honest designing any system like that, much like the MA, takes time and money from the devs.

The devs are not willing to listen to our replies on the forums and make huge game changing decisions based on player feedback. We're european, so we have even less of a voice.
  24. So because my exp is exceeding (insert dev chosen value), i am violating the devs intended 'risk to reward' ratio. Because i am playing intelligently with the tools that are given to me, maximising my efficiency, i am at fault.

If the devs want risk:reward ratios, they should increase the difficulty of missions.

if you tried to play my created arch, 'Technological singularity' (not published) you would KNOW what i consider difficult.

When you have a mission created for a 2 man team that is still destroying 8 people at once, you KNOW there is a risk:reward ratio.

To be honest, this game challenges me only when i am low level and weak with few amounts of powers, yet i have to suffer this until i reach a reasonable level like 30.

Why should i play this 'game' if i feel it is a chore? Yes i agree everyone grinds to some degree, and it's not all fun, and levelling the conventional way CAN be fun.

But the devs still don't need to be so tyrannical about how they approach this problem.
  25. I agree with your point that exploits that give players an unfair advantage over others need to be addressed, but farming simply doesn't do that.

However, i do understand the devs might see their game is becoming 'easy mode' when there is no risk:reward ratio. All i am saying is, the devs do NOT need to develop a system to punish players for farming when it is reasonabl (i.e, account locking, banning stories)

Farming badges, farming things that might allow players to acquire powers (such as demonic aura) would be unbalanced at low levels where they are generally not intended, and players those levels do not usually have such things.

Most farmers, do not farm in such a way that is harmful like this.

As for badge cartels and the like, i have never been badge farming so i can't comment on it.
