Simply because::

Issue 6 brought us- City of Villians.
Issue 6 brought us- Bases.
Issue 6 brought us- PvP Zones for both, "factions".

Issue 6 brought us- the ability to add CoV to CoH to "share" those things across.

Sorry to say , but, Issue 6 IS City of Villians, the fact we have stuff in CoH with it is an incentive to try and make sure it doesn't get left behind, as CoV starts up.

Issue 7 and 8+ are to Balance the Content, between the two.

If people are going to Duel in a PvP Zone, then they will have to accept the fact 'someone' will come along and "intervene".

Warburg is Free-For-All.. simple as. And as a rule I've learn't from people, you seen an opening... take it.

I had one today.. a blaster always bugs me now in Siren's, was in Warburg, was on his Stalker today.. got mouthy over Broadcast.. and asked him to "come to me" and we'll 'discuss' it. (My level 38 Stalker and his level 32 Stalker)

Kept on goading me to tell him where I was, my reply "here and there", he thought it was a joke and got sarcastic.. pfft his mistake.. I was too busy hunting him, as I told him..

"What he needs to think about it, who's hunting who?!"


It ended quickly..

Hidden/Stealth-Total Focus > Placate > AS (as he tries to run away).

I get called a n00b cause he was typing when I dropped him, yet I didn't see no AFK msg and even then he was meat for the kill, it was a PvP zone.. not my problem, and not my fault his build lets me see him clearly, and he can't see me at all.

...makes me wonder sometimes about my use of BC in PvP zones, and I'm thankful to see there are people WORSE than I have been, but I get over it.. I have fun.. as I did dropping his [censored] down.

Suffice to say, it gives me a new insight into how I have and other people act in PvP zones, slagging people down, how people's lives seem to revolve around PvP, yet slag people down for playing PvE, and not being very good at PvP -- which leads to people either doing the same, or looking at PvP badly and not wanting to do it at all.


Suffice to say I know why I can act a lil bad in PvP Zones towards people, but I ask myself, where does that come from.. most likely such people who do it alot, and "help" people follow they're bad example.

Traps is a bit of an odd set as it has some great powers in it but it also has a hell of a lot of stinkers in there. COmpared to something like /dark, it's not as useful in general team play due to the fact most of it's useful powers require set up. The simple fact is that in the time it takes you to set up, most teams could have wiped the mob by then anyway.

That said, when a team is struggling and are willing to wait for the prep a traps MM needs to do, it can be an awesome set. Also great for defending in base raids

I wouldn't have a /trap for general play but for certain situations, I am glad when one is to hand.

Agreed on all accounts.. it does take a few seconds to set up those lil "toys".. and in that time you yourself can be killed in the process.. (tho I do the smart thing and have a couple of bots take aggro for a while, while I attempt to set up things) - I but it's solo and semi-team ability is very nice in my own experience.

It's not RAD/Debuff replacement, like Dark, and it's not as potent.. but it can help you a lil sometimes, when a RAD or a DARK isn't available.

It took me a while to get used to the set itself, but once you know what does what and best time to use it -- it gets to be a lil fun watching mobs land in the "trap" you made

Addition: Okay tested it.. you can't TP Foe sumone during rest.. (I must've got a lucky shot before rest kicked in when I TPd that blaster)

As for its use in 1v1 -- when you gonna have tie to use it between TPFoe and sumone kicking ur [censored]? takes a split second choice, and if it's a blaster BOOM HEAD SHOT.

I've used my Ill/RAD with "rest" in pve while I was busy debuffing an AV..

I've used "rest" in PvP when I was fully-hidden, but even that was a risk.

1 vs 1 -- I can't see a good application of "rest" to make it even worth considering.

Reasons::

-DEF (BIG TIME)

Time Delay on Rest Activation

Only Powers Affecting Self work... and very few of those

PFF iirc doesn't work with Rest, tho I cud be wrong.

As I said though, It's been sitting at 50 for 6 months and rarely get's touched so better to PvP it and actually use it than just use it to rot. It's mainly going to be for pentad PvP, not zone as #i have other alts for that. In those situations, I don't think many people will even try to take a tank down when there are 3 other easier targets.

Even though it may not be as great defensively as other sets, it's still going to be the hardest target to kill in a Pentad.

Also, the overall feedback I get on FE is that it DOES boost non fire attacks and the text is wrong. My understanding is that it's just not as effective as it is with fire attacks. Once again, it's probably Gatling we need to confirm as I'm sure he uses it even though he's energy for damage.

Yup, only boosts the DMG of FIRE BASED attacks (incl Burn since the update w00t!)

My Fire/Ice Tanker: (Hot Chills)

Ice Patch : 2 recharge.
Burn: 3 recharge/3 Damage
FE : 3 recharge
Hasten : 3 recharge

I can pull out 2 burn, 2 ice patch, per minute, easily (even with the time nerf on Burn.)

To make sure you get the benefit of FE on Burn, you MUST fire Fiery Embrace FIRST, before Burn, or you don't get the DMG increase during it's cycle.

As for PvP.. personally.. I wouldn't.. with all the Stalkers and whatnot, you wouldn't survive it. I wouldn't ever take HC into RV, if it's not to get Badges, he wouldn't last 5mins.

Fiery Aura isn't what is used to be, anymore. Stick to PvE Builds.. far safer.

My advice, find a brute and DA spam in melee.. since DA is DEF vs Melee/Lethal, shud cover you from AS all the way up to Debuffs/Ranged (which you won't dodge, with it.)

Tbh, last time I did that I got spam asked how I was keeping alive with no Heal..

I explained to the one Stalker why.. he was soon telling the brute and others to keep away from me, LoL -- which to be fair, the brute was being kinda silly.. he was effectively doing my job for me -- they soon backed off afterwards, and kept they're distance.

But I've never been accused of "Eluding" .. so must be a isolated case.. or someone has been doing it alot in there before you, and funnily enough.. I have my suspicions on "who" that might be..
