Quote:Heh, and pulling converters out of the build as a prank... how is that NOT kitten-punching?Psh punching kittens is for middleschoolers with hormones. Pulling converters out of the live build to disappoint everybody is what you all were REALLY up to this morning
~Raven, who would've thrown a wink emoticon in there if they weren't so over-used around here... <rolls eyes> -
Quote:Well, I was hoping that's what you meant, but these days, I try not to assume anything. Sorry for the misunderstanding.Edit:
Yes I know what you are saying/implying, but I would have thought you would know that I can/will invite anyone regardless of lvl shifts.
Oh, and I'm hoping to attend, this is one of the things in Beta test I didn't get the chance to do. -
Quote:Ion, no offense, but your definition of what a good team is, is *junk*. I've seen a lot of +3's who play like the gerbil in their heads' are on extended vacation. That, and I have seen (and often been one of the) +0's or +1's who can be counted on to know what needs to be done, and GET it done despite interference from people on the league who don't have a CLUE, even with all the info being relayed to them.Hello!
Edit:
Oh and on a "good" team (with mostly +3s) the new itrial takes about 20-30 mins. It gives pretty good iXP and with it being a fast run, could be done just as fast/easily as a Lam/BAF I think.
Level shifts are not an indicator of expertise. They are an indicator that that incarnate has been in a lot of itrials - nothing more, nothing less. -
Quote:Fair enough. Frankly, this time around, I'm not really all that worried about having people for low-level content since we'll be getting new powersets tonight.Inf gains and Prestige bonuses are affected from what I remember.

Quote:Non sequitur indeed. Asking to have more comic book style outfits on the forums of a comic-book-based MMO was uproariously funny. Enough so I may have woken the neighbors while laughing at it.I'd guess it's an analogy.
"Some of us want the comic book style for some of our characters." is to "Not stretched and not painted on for that design might be a wardrobe malfunction." as "Spinach does not, as is commonly believed, have high amounts of iron." is to "Some of us want the comic book style for some of our characters."
Which would be to say that she's implying your comment about wanting it for your characters was a bit of a non sequitur.
I could be wrong though.
EDIT: Hey, while I'm here, I should put in a vote or two, shouldn't I? Well, then, in no particular order (since I wouldn't want to upset some of these ladies by 'ranking' them):
Bobcat
early-20's Penelope Yin
Mirror Spirit
Ghost Widow
Lady Grey
Aurora Borealis
War Witch
and the Tsoo Lt from the i22 Steel Canyon Arc
...
can't recall her name off the top of my head - the Midnighter Contact in the Steel Midnight Club
...
...
Off hand I can't recall any others. Not to say there aren't others I've appreciated, just that I know there are but my memory is shot, and in the (unfortunately) immortal words of my wife, "the hamster needs a break from the wheel before he sets off the fire alarms".
Oh well, if I think of anyone else I know where this thread is I guess.
Cheers!

Well, I'll be making sure the lower level content gets some love, even if it means forming a pug up on a moments notice.
The Drowning in Blood Trial may not have lost it's charm by the 2xp weekend, especially since it seems more intriuging than DFB in terms of story, as well as game-play, so I might run lots of those. Positrons, Synapses, whatever, I'll run them so we can get the new lowbies we're sure to have come Tuesday out of the lower levels asap.
~Raven
PS - I also promise to bite my tongue as much as possible everytime someone forms an itrial or 45+ only team. Not *literally*, since if last 2xp weekend was any guide I'd lack a tongue by Saturday night. Never ceases to amaze me when people ignore double xp to run incarnate content, which isn't affected by it... -
Want to know an interesting fact? Of the task forces or strike forces I've done in the past two years where I've watched as a team wiped, or near-wiped, time and again, LESS than ten of those were ones that were NOT trying to 'speed'.
I've been on over a dozen task forces or teams almost every month in this time period. I have born witness to teams and leagues getting continually less relaible unless I'm teaming with certain people. So when I get asked or invited to a speed team I'll invariably pass on it because I already have reason to doubt that I'm truly needed for it.
Case in point, today's Positron 1 task force where the cats were in dire need of being leashed, and the thing took probably half again as long as it SHOULD have because teamwork was not asked for, and didn't seem wanted, either.
So when I say that the decrease of teamwork has mirrored the rise of people 'speeding' things, it's because I have WATCHED this happen, over the course of the last two or three years. 'Speed' teams do NOT require, or even want, teamwork, all they want is people who can survive, and if they can't survive, they want people who don't whine and gripe about death. At the very least, they always want people on the team who don't mind watching one or two other team members butts vanish into the distance as the objectives often get solved withOUT the aid of all, or even most, of the team.
And THAT'S what you call teamwork? Yeah. Whatever.
~Raven -
As far as the lack of true teamwork goes, I agree, but there's a reaason for this that I didn't see you meantion, Ukase. I've been seeing teamwork go downhill for a while, and this downward trend has inversely followed the upward trend in 'speed' TFs / SFs where teamwork is neither needed, or even wanted.
As people have gotten 'better' at this, they've gotten stuck in the rut of 'on a team but fighting solo' that is now, pretty much, the average mentality - or at least this attitude is far more common now than I've ever seen it before.
So, it seems to me, anyone who wants other people to learn teamwork, should lead teams, rather than lead up to 7 or more other players in a group of soloists. Because solists on a team are NOT team players, and the only way to teach that is to NOT put people in a position where, as on 'speed' teams, teamwork is not only unwelcome, it just plain does not exist.
My two cents.

Quote:Agreed, Kheld, thanks for bringing it up, too.The Shard Cannon should totally be proliferated to use with Assault Rifle (including Masterminds), and VEATs. It's pretty darn awesome looking.
Quote:I'm honestly not sure why it wasn't ported over. Could be animation, could be any number of reasons.
I'll go ask someone.
The Shard Cannon's dead sexy, but I have enough beamers. My Soldier, on the other hand... yeah, they really need to let the Soldiers have more rifles...*

*...and the Widows more claws - I love the rularuu ones to death. But Widow's are probably another matter entirely, in terms of tech, people benefitted, and time to do the port, I'm guessing. <sigh> -
Quote:Going to say that, in my case, in order of rank descending: 3, 2, 7.Assuming you do.
1) You've played all of the existing powersets for all AT's and want something new.
2) You've played all of the existing powersets for your favorite AT(s) and want new sets for them.
3) There are specific powersets you want, not just any new ones
4) You want powersets better than the existing ones
5) More is better
6) You want a new theme of powersets, tired of fire/ice/rad/etc
7) other
I go with #6. I like the idea of playing a dark/dark controller. But really I want to try characters that feel different.
For me, 'other' in this case means I have specific requests of powerset proliferation that, if done, would allow me to build characters I've been waiting to build for some time. In the case of 2, I'm also getting burnt out on attack powersets for melee, and think it's about time we got a new armour powerset or two.
All of which comes under the heading of 3, more or less. Hence why, for me, that's primarily my reason for wanting more powersets...

Hey, I got the best idea ever (read: this morning) from that!
Maybe it's not the best idea to bring up politics or anything, but now I want to make a poster for each person running for Prez 2012 that uses a picture of them with the "IS FOR SUCKERS!" underneath as a slogan...
Whether I make it up as pictures or not, I'm sure I'll think that everytime I hear about the 2012 race now. <laughing my *** off>

Sorry to hear you're feeling under the weather Tax. Hope you get back to normal, and swiftly. I could even try exorcising the illness, but not sure that works over the internet >.>

Quote:I would like to thank you for the UGTs you ran, every one of them. Gotta hand it to you, you have more patience for people than I do of late. Anyways, credit where credit's due, I really enjoyed them when I was there to do UGTs with you, so thanks for that.Well folks, it was fun while it lasted.
I think I'm getting more than just a bit burned out on UGT and leading trials in general. I find myself experiencing more frustration at people just having fun, meaning no harm, but not paying attention.
And it's impacting my enjoyment of the content.
Anyone can make mistakes, I just don't want to overreact and be rude to someone when they do.
This Sunday will be the last scheduled MoUGT run for awhile.
Going to miss these, might have to run some myself again, maybe try to break my streak of bad luck leading UGTs while I'm at it.

Quote:Having beta'd the Super Packs, 5 from a token will get you a large assortment of the same repeatables you can spend tokens on. IE, unslotters, windfalls, xp boosters etc. Only repeatable you can't get with the Packs are the Summon Powers.Personally I was hoping they'd give us more like 8 packs per token since that's more or less what the other T9 repeatable rewards are 'worth'. Giving us just 5 is a little meh, but I don't really have too much of a problem with it since there's really no hard value to the tokens as it is and I don't know about you but I really don't use my tokens for anything aside from the VIP costume sets. Oh and I used one on my plant/storm controller in Praetoria in order to actually defeat Noble Savage.
That said, I don't really think your not caring about anything in the cards aside from the costume sets (or anyone's not caring really) factors much into the price point of the things. They've made the costume pieces easier to get than they were before with the cards, and if that's not good enough (which I'm guessing it isn't) then just wait until the possibility of getting them through other means opens up in the future. I know that may not happen, but if enough people ask for it and then don't cave and buy or use the tokens to get the costume pieces anyway then I'd imagine they'd put them up for sale on the market or something.
I still think they should be 8-10 packs per token though. As it is 5 is the worst 'value' of any of the T9 repeatables. Granted it actually offers the possibility of things I want over any of the others, but still.
While I'd love to get more than 5 packs per token, according to the argument used here, the idea's invalid since those 5 packs give you MORE of those other repeatables than the tokens do. -
Quote:Think abut the horror? Pass. I'm crazy enough as is, tyvm. <laughs>Guys... Raven, Cinder... You two are among the better players I know in this game. I'm fond of both of you and I like having you around in the trials. You're part of what makes them the often-insane, typically-crazy incredible fun that they are, even if you don't always see eye to eye.
Don't make me send you both to the Harmony Hut.
Because if that's what it takes to get us all back to happily bashing the crap out of those pixel Praetorians who so richly deserve it, I will.
The Sound of Music, guys.
Think about the horror of that.
I didn't even have to click that link to know what you meant... <shudders> I'm pretty sure I'd react to the Harmony Hut as well as Wednesday did, only with a more Michael Bay-esque film following my stay there -
Quote:I had enough of this type of vitriol from you the first time I tried to say something you were doing wasn't as effective as I thought it could be. The BAF where I tried to point out that I'd never seen choke points get a perfect score, after which I continued with you and saw it go perfect for the first time ever, and I retracted my comment. Problem solved. And here we go Raven you want to continue as you did last night. I was not "Soloing" a phase. When I did come out with the temps I had to assist with clearing as well. Had the terminals been cleared It wouldn't have been an issue..
Someone else in the trial didn't like it either.. all the said was seemed a bit slower I like the other way better and was done commenting.. This however wasn't you..
Had time to get a text file
was 2-3 times slower
and on and on..
Tell me what the purpose was of keeping it going in local chat as we exited.. I do recall you starting that up not me..
Sure I said "Do you need a tissue" cause you just kept ******** about it in local which was not needed.
Now be done with it.. Leave me on ignore if you want. I'm not forcing any style of game play on you. I'm not saying you not wanting to do it is slower, Stupid, sucked or anything. I'm not saying either is better as a "FACT" what is fact is that you yourself did not even know of the Stalker door, So you are one of those that "Learned" from me. Did anyone learn anything from your ranting?
Now here we are again, I had some constructive criticism and you're getting bent out of shape... again. So you want me to leave it be? Fine, since you're obviously not going to listen anyways, I will. Tired of butting heads with you over simple feedback.
I know I have some anger issues but I'm honest about it, and admit to it, but it seems to me you have the same problems. If you're not going to take criticism from me as anything less than a personal attack then I'll be happy to leave you on ignore.
Issue dropped, ok? You happy now? In reality it was ALREADY dropped until you came in here and re-opened it, but hey, I already apologized about it higher up on this very same page, not that you seemed to notice or care. -
Quote:You should check yourself as well. You're repeated disapporval of my attempt to constructively criticize you did get me aggravated, but the statement you quote didn't come unti AFTER you asked "if I needed a tissue."Raven,
During the trial you just kept going on and on and on how it was slower.. When we exited you jumped into LOCAL chat not league chat saying it was stupid others have seen it. Including the one running the trial.. So yes I do practice what I preach. You just seem to forget what kind of mood you were in last night. I do recall. "I'm tired of F(**&*G with you, your method sucked it was stupid. Welcome to my ignore".. So yea.. if I'm on it.. I have no issue with that at all and don't expect you to remove me from it. It's not like you are doing me a favor if you do.
I simply said in the trial it's not 3 times slower as you say And I have documented proof to that effect as well. Perhaps you mistaken someone elses post for mine. When we exited the trial you kept going on and on after I figured it was over.
I to have the respect of many on the server that I have earned thank you very much.
So lets not make this about YOU and ME as you see in my post I did NOT call you out.. I believe you called me out by name again. You should really check yourself
Did I get pissed off? Yes. I'm not accustomed to sitting on my keister in a trial waiting for someone to solo a phase. I'm also not one to be insulted for saying it didn't work without reprisal. So am I to blame? In part, yes, the other party to blame, you'll find in a mirror.
As for me being in local that was due to me getting a coh.exe during the truckyard phase, as I pointed out last night. So I couldn't say anything in league chat when I came back because I wasn't IN league. -
Quote:About last night
I did make the Keyes runs last night as well as the UGT IXP run. The name calling or let me say the generalized name calling "I'm getting out of here too much stupid for me to deal with" fall under the previous mentioned childish acts. If you don't like the way things are going quietly quit the league and mind your own or suck it up. Maybe /tell the leader and make a comment. Maybe send a tell to someone you see messing up to educate them on what they are doing incorrectly. Calling them stupid doesn't fix a thing does it?
If you don't like someone else method of a phase of a trial just say.. I still like this way better. thanks though.. not "your way sucks, it's stupid"
Mind me pointing out that I never called your method stupid? In fact it was you who insulted me, rather than me insulting you. I argued that you were slower and had evidence to support that statement, and your response was to treat me like I was personally attacking you.
I was not. I was calmly pointing out that your method did not work as well as you assured us it would. When I objected - calmly and without insult - in a manner that I intended as constructive criticism, you're penultimate response was to ask if I needed a tissue.
In short, you were disrespectful to me, not the other way around.
Words to live by, Cinder. Perhaps you should practice what you preach. I already have the respect of many others, foremost amongst them: the leader of the trials in question himself. Respect from you would be nice, but it's not necessary. I'll take you off of /ignore to give you a second chance, even, which is something I rarely do.

Quote:Hello again Z, good to see things from your side of the coin. I would just like to point out that, for my part, I agree with you. Mostly. Where I disagree is this:I'm going to say something which some of you may find unpopular, but there are times where it is my responsibility to stand up and be an advocate for our team. I apologize if my words cause you to be upset, but it is the right thing to say.
When you say we do not listen to feedback, it is disingenuous. You can accuse us of many things, but accusing this team, the team now, the developers who have been working on this game for over a year, of not taking player concerns into account it is something that is, quite frankly, hurtful.
For example, let's look at the Super Packs. Based on feedback we have implemented the following:- ATO's available through in game means
- Enhancement Catalysts in game drops
- Price points for the packs set based on early feedback
- Offering discounts when purchasing in bulk based on early feedback both on the forums and at the Player Summit.
- Improvements made to the Inspirations found in the packs, over doubling their duration in some cases and making them persist through death (this change was done based on feedback that these items weren't originally very desirable, especially when found in Super Packs).
- Increased the rate at which costume pieces are discovered in packs
- Usability improvements based on feedback on the beta user start to finish experience.
- We're not launching with an alternate option to acquiring the costume pieces, but it is still something we're open to later on down the road.
I love you guys. I will walk through the fire for my Community and I will always, no matter what, represent your interests, regardless of my personal opinion. I have worked with developers who completely disregard player feedback, and I promise you, the Paragon Studios development team is not among them.
-Z
It seems there has been a very noticeable trend towards release-on-time-at-all-costs that has us dealing with more bugs sailing through Beta unharmed than ever before. Also, it's been seeming like there is either not enough work being done to fix these bugs and other bugs from Pre-CoHF, or possibly even less de-bugging work is being done than pre-CoHF.
Either way we're stuck dealing with these problems and it seems that not only are more bugs coming out, but now, they're even being treated as 'working-as-intended'. To misquote Uncle Ben: "With greater amounts of released material, comes greater responsibility to make sure it WORKS."
When it comes to feedback, hell YEAH you guys are pretty good! What concerns me is this seeming decline in responsibility to keeping the game as error-free as it has the potential to be. No game is ever bug free, but this one's bugier than it used to be, and that's worrisome.

Hmm. Chalk me up as having not gotten the memo. If Wednesday night trials are for new 50s that wasn't something I was aware of at any time. That said, I would like to whole-heartedly apologize for my behavior last night.
One bit of advice I would give for future iTrials with people new to them is that more advice be given at the start of the trial than "Ok, we all know what we are doing, let's do it". I think that was responsible for both me not knowing that we had new folks, and also for the new folks not knowing what needed knowing.
Guess I'll take a break to get my head back on straight, and again, sorry for chewing people out.

I don't know about math. For some I was on a league with tonight, it sure seemed they thought common sense, or reading instructions were about as fun as seeing the dentist.
I'll reiterate, Keyes has no business being failed at the fight in the truckyard. None. There is no excuse for standing in a green target circle of death when sense, the league, and it's leader say not to do so, particularly when it kills you. Over...
and over...
and over...
...again.
After that, I'm seriously looking at taking up another game for a while. That was ludicrous and appalling. Wonder how many of those derping the league tonight were first time 50s. Although I'm not keen on staying to find out, either.
Off to bluer skies,
