Ah my bad. In my experience when someone says "It did okay" or something like that it usually means they are actually trying to say "I wouldn't do that." But then again i tend to be pessimistic lol. I ended up going with Elec/Nin anyways because I was having way too much fun with it to drop the toon. My only question now is is it worth it to take the fighting pool for the extra S/L resistance and Defense? Normally I would take it on any brute I play but with the new stalker changes i am finding my stalker to be an end hog at times, just curious if the extra protection would be worth the extra endurance issue

Thats what I was afraid of. I knew /Nin had a lot going for it from 1-50 in terms of having some tricks in a bag for survival which was one of the biggest draws to me, but wasn't sure how the defense held up after hitting 50 and you started to do much harder content. Would /Will or /Elec be a better secondary in that case? It seems with the HP buff both would benifit from the stalker changes and Elec would benefit from most of the iTrials dishing out energy dmg.

Hey guys, with the new changes to stalkers just around the corner I have returned to the game with a renewed interest in the AT that I haven't had since CoV first came out. I was wanting to make a Elec/Nin to fit a theme I have been wanting to make for a long time. But I am having reservations about whether or not the defense of /Nin is viable in the endgame. While I do want to stick with the theme, I still want to be able to hit 50 and build a very viable and fun toon for endgame content.
So I guess what I am asking is how survivable is /Nin in the iTrials per say? What are the chances of me dieing multiple times in a row because of an unlucky string of hard hits for example? If /Nin isn't reliable enough, what would be the best alternative? While I would prefer to use /nin, I am open for an alternative that would be a much better choice for the end game if one is available if my reservations prove true. -
and now that I read your PvP post, I got a PvP newb tale too. When CoV came out I literally spent 4 months leveling different toons to PvP with. Problem was by the time I had leveled one everyone had figured out how to own it and had moved on to another FOTM. So like the nice little PvP newb I was, I went and leveled the FOTM. Only after I got him high enough level the same thing happened. The sad thing is it took me 4 months to realize my methods wasn't going to work. Needless to say, I realized it just isn't worth it to be a FOTM junkie.

Quote:This. I did this for the first month I played because I soloed the entire time and didn't realize you could exit with the Nav. I remember getting into CoT maps and getting lost and spending hours trying to find my way out of the map. Then the first time I actually teamed someone pointed it out to me, in which I then proceeded to run outside and yell all sorts of profanities at the gods themselves.Whenever I see a topic like this, I'm reminded of something that you real old-timers will undoubtedly remember.
There used to not be an Exit button on the nav window when you completed a mission. Instead, you had to click on the little "i" icon that brings up information for the mission. (Yes, this means that after you completed a mission, you couldn't get the information for it any more; clicking on the i icon would exit the mission.)
I think that buried in the bowels of the tutorial during the mission to rescue Flower Knight this fact was mentioned, but I missed it. So for a couple of weeks, I exited missions the only way I knew how--by running all the way back to the door in from which I came when I entered the mission.
Finally, I was working on missions with some teammates one night and noticed that after each mission, everyone was simply vanishing into thin air. For the first couple of missions or so, I just chalked it up to some glitch or weirdity. After noticing it happening with consistency, though, I finally asked, "Hey guys, how are you all getting outside so quickly?" Someone told me about clicking on the nav window to exit.
Ohhhhhhh!
Of course, now there's a button explicitly labeled "Exit" that's pretty hard to miss. You kids have it so easy these days.
My own personal newb moment though would have to deal with my power selection with my first tanker. I leveled a invul/EM tanker all the way to lvl 30 without any of the passives and invincibility, and I never used unyielding because it wouldn't let me jump anywhere and I found it annoying constantly retoggling it everytime I needed to jump. Instead I ironically took every attack power I could get my hands on, including the power pool choices. I kid you not when I say I had taken the attack from each of the travel pools, effectively tieing up all my power pools. Needless to say, I died a lot. In my defense I soloed the vast majority of those levels so it wasn't until much later someone told me why I was dieing so much, in which case I proceeded to /facepalm myself. A lot. -
Hey all, I've been away from the game for a month dealing with the final weeks of school among other things. Now that I'm back I want to try to finish leveling one of my two brutes, a lvl 28 Stj/Elec and a lvl 39 Stj/Will. I am very familiar with /Elec, having 2 other level 50 brutes with that set ao I know all about it but I was curious to how willpower compared to it in the endgame. I have searched the pages but cant seem to really find anything that clearly states the advantages and disadvantages of each, so I was hoping someone could help me out. I will probably only finish lvling one and I don't care if I level another /elec as long as I get a lot of playing time out of him at lvl 50. I'll also probably IO out which ever one I level and I dont exactly have a surplus of inf stashed away anywhere so thats a factor as well. Anyone have any suggestions?
-
Yeah I probably am firing off CU too much. On my other brutes i have never needed to worry about large dips in end, since ive either used /elec or /EA for my defense sets in the past. I guess i just need to get used to managing my attacks a little better.
-
Well this isn't my first brute, ive got 3 others at lvl 50 but this is my first one using WP. I am actually slotted with end redux in all my attacks with the exception of CU, but that is only because i haven't got any other slots for it and its lone slot has a Accuracy. I find that as long as things die fast i am okay, but when i have to fight continueously for an extended period of time my end drops like a rock. I thought it was the number of toggles i run (6 currently between WP and the fighting pool) but when i turned off the fighting pool toggles i was still sucking up a lot of wind.
-
So ive been playing this STJ/WP brute for the last week or so and ive been having a blast with him. I just hit lvl 32 and picked up CU and now im noticing that i suck wind faster than a vacuum. I knew when i made this guy that STJ was a heavy end using set, but i am finding it hard to keep my endurance up in any prolonged fight. What i am wondering is that will this be a problem later in the game after i hit 50 and get IO's and incarnate abilities? And also is there anything i can do til then to help mitigate the end use? aside from caring a tray full of blues that is.

Central/Eastern KY with Time Warner here, having the same problems. It let me get to the character select screen a couple of times before cutting me off but since then i can't even get past the log in screen.

Hey guys, after an hour of searching the boards I can't seem to find anything on the spine/fire build due to having a weak search fu. So I was wondering what the basic highlights to the build. I have been playing the game for a while now so I can probably figure out the slotting out, but anyone is welcome to post their own builds. I just need to know what is or isn't necessary to take to have a solid toon. So can anyone help? And excuse any grammer mistakes, I'm trying to type this out on my ipod touch at work and it's proving to be a little harder than expected...

Im wanting to be a brute so bad that when i close my eyes, i see the word SMASH!
