Quote:My Brute pretty consistently is 75%+ on a Pylon. Not sure 84% is consistently achievable but I can test this out tonight.Recalculating for 0.375 follow up and 1.1 critical rate, I end up with 235.9 dps for the Brute (as above) and 235.1 dps for the Scrapper, which is essentially a tie.
Both Scrappers and Brutes should get identical benefit from the DoT, the procs, and the resistance debuffs. So the comparison really comes down to the raw output of the exact same chain for both. I get 177.59 dps intrinsic damage output from the Brute chain with 85% fury (+170%), stacked follow up (0.3 * 2) and the global damage of the build (18.5%). I get 176.84 dps intrinsic from the Scrapper chain with stacked follow up with scrapper numbers (0.375 * 2) and the global buff (18.5%) and with 1.1 critical rate.
The break even point is at about 1.6812, or +168.12% damage, or 84.06 fury. Anyone know what the fury level is for this build attacking a pylon? My guess is that its between 82% and 86% fury, which is ironically about as unhelpful a range as can be.
Still, I think the numbers say that for this specific build, its impossible to give a clear offensive advantage to either the Scrapper variant or the Brute variant, so its almost certainly valid to call this one a tie, at least on pylons or situations where you can sustain a 10% critical rate.
This fits with Iggy and I's testing - it takes 85% Fury to tie a Scrapper against a Lieutenant. I found 95% fury does the trick against bosses (15% crit rate, right?) -
Quote:I will have to confer with the council on this matter.
The reason I wanted it set up as a Scrapper exclusive was honestly to avoid potential time-wasters from entering and well, wasting time. Now I know you wouldn't be one of those people, but the problem is that I'm not sure if I would be comfortable making exceptions because it 'opens the flood gates,' so to speak, and I'm really trying to run this as fairly as possible.
When you say potential time wasters, is this a reference to non-Scrapper ATs being unlikely to solo pylons? My Fire/Cold Corr eats up pylons in under three minutes without Lore pets.
Personally, I like the idea of a Scrapper only competition, because at the end of the day, its muscle vs. Pylon ... but just had to ask.
I don't have a good pylon soloing Scrapper right now, but this is an interesting project to consider, particularly given your limitation on gathering fodder - that evens the playing field a bit for the Darks/Shields
Perhaps I will level something up and have a go at it. Thx for hosting! -
Quote:My first thought: "Weaksauce compared to a solid crit from Clobber."Let me repost something from the A&P general forum: a damage enhanced crushing uppercut does 900 damage on a critical before considering damage buffs.
900.
Think about it.
I haven't had this much Scrapper in forever. WM/SD! -

Also, I like ClassH's build. It gets you where you want to go for about 6% of the cost of my build.
On the flipside, if you ARE going to spend money, then Dominators are the AT to do it with. IME, Dominators benefit from heavy investment disproportionately to other ATs. -
Quote:My point of view:Well, is the added damage from musculature noticeable when you have damage powers in the 90%+ range from enhancements? I know it ignores portions of ED limits but would it make more sense to use nerve for boosted holds? etc.
I am really not sure which way I want to go. I know I want Reactive Interface Radial pretty bad though.
Also, what do you guys think of ClassH's build?
- Yes, its noticeable. It has the added benefit of adding damage enhancement to your control powers as well. I have a Damage IO and Musculature in most control powers, which has a significant impact on damage, particularly in powers like Char and Fire Cages.
- I personally don't care about extra hold slotting. I'm already at the hold % cap typically, and I'm boosted by permadom. The extra % doesn't add any value when all I want to be doing is killkillkill and then killkillkill some more! -

Most people will probably have "Not on my Watch" (No escaped prisoners) and "Alarm Raiser" (Don't deactivate turrets) so I won't be focusing on these. Instead we'll be looking at (hopefully) two runs, one for "Keep 'em Separated" and one for "Strong and Pretty". -

EDIT: uh, that is ALOT of purple sets, holy crap - in fact I doubt he could get a build with more purples in it. I am not building that. He even has PVP purples. uhhhh no.
(1) Wasn't recommending you take Dr. Dismemberment's build. I didn't. Its not for me.
(2) I pointed you in the direction of that thread so you could get some general ideas on how to build for +def and +rech / permadom at the same time. The Dr's build (and my own) are very expensive, but there were at least 20+ builds posted in that thread, all of which use interesting tricks to add +def. Obitus and Lifewind both put up some really interesting ideas.
I thought you were looking for ideas, not a cookie cutter build. My bad. -
I would suggest reading through Dr. Dismemberment's thread on Defensive Fire^3 - its about a page or two down, and it includes build advice from Dr. Dismemberment, Lifewind, Obitus and Silas. I learned more about how to build my Dom from that thread than in virtually all other forum threads combined. I also spent close to 12 billion influence but hey its all pretend money. Be a playa

This is incorrect, and in fact the opposite is true. Stop spreading bad memes.
I'd still recommend the Brute though. /Elec is much, much better on a Brute and Scrapper Claws is only slightly better than Brute Claws. -
Quote:Are you using the numbers in Mids, specifically the incorrect activation time?I've already taken Follow-up. However, I'm looking at different sets and as a result I've noticed something in Brute Claws that isn't making sense to me. It looks like the base damage of follow-up is so low, that with a reasonable amount of fury, I'd get better ST dps by skipping follow-up, and just hitting things more often. This isn't true of the scrapper version, the +damage in double stacked follow-up for scrappers makes it un-skip-able, but I'm taking a serious double take with the Brute version.
I'll double check the numbers in-game later, but does anyone else have an opinion ? -
Quote:Huh. See, that's the thing about forum memes. They're often wrong.I'm not sure what damage scales you're talking about, but if you simply look at the numbers in mids, you will see that fire breath does about TWICE the damage of fistful of arrows.
You're welcome to believe what you want. But I do have to point out one thing: a while ago there was a thread where brute claws was being compared to scrapper claws. The entire forum agreed that brute claws was better, and they even showed numerically why. You were the single person who disagreed, and no matter what everybody else said, you refused to give in.
Now there's this thread, where every single person has said that fire is the way to go, but you have to make claims that it's not.
I sense a trend. Just sayin'.
Scrapper Claws *is* numerically better than Brute Claws, at least on a top end single target basis, as proved out by Iggy Kamikaze and I in this thread, pages 5 and 6, but the forum meme crowd stopped caring when numbers were thrown out.

I happen to disagree with Pleaserecycle in this case, as I prefer to do big orange numbers and don't care much about activation time. I do care about rooting time however. -

If you post the full build, I can comment. Don't have mids at work

I have a budget build, but it caps in about two minutes or so. So I reckon that must be the difference between budget and purpled (IIRC your SS/Fire/Soul was pretty pimped out Fiery)
