Great showing tonight everyone! I hope you all had a lot of fun; I know that I did! Many thanks again to Belle for the Best Joke contest idea. There were a few times that I laughed til I had a coughing fit.
Winners for the "Clowning Around" CC:
1st Place: Flare
2nd Place: Clown
3rd Place: Taxibot Belle
Honorable Mention: Harlequin Ballestra
Winners for the joke contest:
1st Place: Righteous Mime (60 mil)
2nd Place: Tormenta del Fuego (30 mil)
3rd Place: Taxibot Belle (15 mil)
Taxibot Belle's Joke
So I was talking to my friend Luminary the other day, and she told me this story. She was at the Paragon City Museum of Natural History. You know, the one with the displays of dinosaur skeletons? She was standing there looking at a Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton, and one of the visitors thought she worked there. He walked up to her and said, "Excuse me, do you know how old that skeleton is?" She said, "It is sixty-five million, three years, eight months, and ten days old."
"Wow, that's amazing! Did you do some kind of really technical analysis to discover that?"
She answered, "No, Rebecca Brinell told me that it was sixty-five million years old, and that was three years, eight months, and ten days ago."
Tormenta del Fuego's Joke
On his way home from work, a man notices a robot in a shop for sale. Curious, he goes in to take a look. A salesman wanders up and says, "I see you've noticed our Truthtron 3000! This baby is literally a walking lie detector. Go ahead, test it.""How?"asks the man. "Just tell a lie." So the man says, "I'm the president of the United States." The robot promptly walks over and slaps him. Impressed the man says, "I'll take it!"
That night he goes home to find his son isn't back yet, and it's past his curfew. Two hours later, the boy returns as his mother and father are eating dinner. Upon entering the living room, he notices there's a robot sitting on the table. A little weirded out, the boy sits down before his set plate and begins to apologize.
"Mom, Dad, sorry for being late. I was at the library with Kyle doing research for a last minute project. Time escaped us." The Robot stands up, walks over, and smacks the boy out of his chair. His father laughs and says, "Boy, that's not just any robot - he's a lie detector! You'd better tell the truth." His son says, "I was at Billy's house watching The Last Supper." The robot whirls around and smacks him again. Crying a little, the boy says, "Alright! We watched a rated R movie!"
Satisfied, his father chastises him. "You shouldn't lie to your parents, boy. When I was your age, I never lied to my parents!" At this, the robot whirls around and whacks the father. Laughing, the mother says, "Don't be too hard on the boy. He is your son, after all." The robot walks over and knocks her out of her chair.

Sounds great, Casual. I'll also chip in influence for prizes. Would Monday the 11th at 10 PM Eastern be okay?
The Clown / Jester CC is in a little over 20 minutes! The CC will be followed by a "Best Joke" mini contest. See you there folks! -
Thanks, Lord Gryphon! I'll add you to the list.

Sorry I had to miss out tonight, guys. I would definitely be interested in rescheduling for Thursday, and Ska-Core is also up for that.
Same time, Thursday evening then? -
Actually, all the entrants will be rolling brand new characters on Victory, so no level 50s required! We'll be leveling up together between lessons. And, the benefit of doing this on a live server is having a totally PvP viable character ready to bring out to matches or leagues (I.E. continue using) after boot camp.
-
The TL;DR version: No, most bases aren't like that.
If the intention was to make a maze (for base raiding or something) then yeah, that's one of the best layouts I've seen. No one is going to trump Mr. H's maze base, but...
From a sheer usability standpoint? It looks like a nightmare. Then again, I'm not sure which of those rooms is holding what, but from the way you're talking I imagine the nearby rooms are not utility rooms.
Kudos on their maze skills, though I'd have warned anyone new to the SG. If I'm doing a solo SG then I build however I want to fit the style; if I'm building a community base then ease of access and functionality is my #1 priority.
Was this on an NA server? I'd actually like to see this in person. -

Err, uhh, I totally meant for your entourage! Yeah, that's it!
...I obviously owe someone a "randomly awarded" gift at a certain player auction as a means to make amends. <_< >_> -
Quote:Would love to have you. I'll make sure to set up a few extra chairs in case you do!
Hm. This could be fun. I may peek in from Champion just for this 1.

So, The_Masque and company are about to start a new season of PvP boot camp. This time, they're welcoming players from all servers to join them in learning the ropes. I know some of my fellow Infinity folks have already signed up, including our new P.E.R.C. rep Ska-Core.
For me, it's a first step in doing my part to foster PvP here on Infinity. But yeah, they're still accepting registrations and this seems like a good opportunity for those of us who have always wanted to learn the ins and outs of PvP. You'll see some familiar faces if you decide to join too.
You can get all the details here: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=255879
Hope to see you there! -
Part of why I'm attending Boot Camp is so I can walk away with the knowledge I need to approach the PvPers on Infinity and perhaps look into getting more frequent matches going.
I'll see what I can do to help spread the word some more back home. As far as I'm concerned, the more PvPers we have around, the better. -
You are more than welcome to do any of the above! Auctionees/those who donate are able to bid on other players, and will be entered in the prize drawings too.
-
Click here to go to the main event thread.
So, what's going on?
P.E.R.C. is gearing up to host a Player Auction on Infinity! For those of you who aren't familar with what a Player Auction is, it's a...
1) ...Chance for the community to get together and have fun!
2) ...Way to earn or win some awesome IOs and influence!
3) ...Opportunity to buy time with Paragon Studios employees Avatea, Beastyle, and Zwillinger!
4) ...Good time to help P.E.R.C. generate funds for future player events!
How does it work?
The basic format is this: A player volunteers to have themselves auctioned off. At the event, other players place bids on them. The person with the highest bid gets 4 hours of the auctionee's time (either all at once or in smaller chunks; whatever is mutually agreeable) and the two of you do whatever the buyer wants... So long as it's within the EULA, of course. 25% of the winning bid goes to the auctionee, 25% goes to P.E.R.C. and 50% goes into a special jackpot used at the end of the night for a prize drawing.
I want to be an auctionee!
First, make sure that you can commit to 4 hours total play time with the person that buys you. This can be a single 4 hour session, two 2 hour sessions, four 1 hour sessions, or whatever will work for both parties. You'll need to be able to do this within 1 - 2 months after the auction. As an auctionee, you don't need to be present on the night of the auction either; we'll still sell you even if you're out of town! Players will receive their 25% cut on the night of the auction, or will have it e-mailed to them if they're unavailable that night.
I want to donate (even though I don't have any influence)!
In addition to auctionees, we're looking for those who are willing to donate items or services. 25% of the proceeds from these sales will go to the player donating the item/service, and the remaining 75% will go towards funding player events on the Infinity server. Donations may include IO baskets (10 random procs, purples, PvP IOs, etc.), art, build designing, base building, shopping, costume designing, bio writing, "Master of" TF runs, badge/accolade assistance and similar services. All services must be specific and must be completed within a reasonable time frame after the auction (1 - 2 months). You may also donate IOs to serve as door prizes given away during the event.
For those who want to donate team spots:
You can offer up a spot on a team for a "Master of" TF, to get a rare badge, etc. This should be something that is specific and special (I.E. a spot on a random team for 2 hours would not qualify). Please make sure if you are offering this that you have 7 people total (or less if you need less) who will be willing run this team.
I want to be a bidder!
Simply show up at the auction on Saturday, April 16th, at 8pm Eastern and have your influence ready! We'll have players, IOs, and other goodies on sale, and your purchase will help fund future P.E.R.C. events like the IDFS costume contests and Iron-Man TF series.
I just want to have fun and maybe win a prize!
You're welcome to show up even if you don't plan on being auctioned off or placing a bid. We'll have prizes and give-aways throughout the event, including the randomly selected grand prize winner who will walk away with 40% of the night's jackpot! Just remember: You have to be there to win!
How do I sign up as an auctionee or offer my services?
We'll need your @Global name and what you would like to auction off; be that yourself, item(s), or service(s). There are a few ways you can send us that info:
1) Reply to this thread, or...
2) Send R-Tech a PM here on the forums, or...
3) Message @R-Tech in-game, or...
4) Send @R-Tech an in-game e-mail
If you're donating an item or two as door prizes, you can send them via e-mails. Make sure to mention whether you would like to be recognized at the event for the donation, or wish to remain anonymous! We'll assume that any items sent without a note wish to be recognized. If you have more than a few items that you wish to donate, please contact me so we can arrange a time for pick-up.
Many thanks to you, the Infinity community, and guys/gals at Paragon Studios for all of your excitement and help with this and past and future P.E.R.C. events!

As was discussed by a few folks (such as Henri and Bullet Barrage) over in the "Post Your Best Costumes" thread, there seems to be a distinct lack of a costume exchange thread in the SS & FA forum, so here we go!
The intent of this thread is to share costumes that we have made and are free for use by other forum members. Post your own unused costumes, or snag one of the suits on display!
Here are some to start us off. You can click on each image for a larger view. Costume files are available on request.

Thanks Casual, that is very much appreciated on both accounts!
I'd be very happy to make one week a bio contest. Actually, what time would make it easier for you to attend? I could either adjust the schedule for "Biography Week" or host a separate contest specifically for it. And, if you'd be willing, I'd love to have you there to help judge it!
Let me know what works for you and we'll see what we can make happen. -
Original post has been updated to include themes for the month of April. For next week, we'll also be doing a mini "Best Joke" contest in combination with the Clowning Around theme.
Winners for the "Go Go, Power Armor" contest:
1st Place: Project Tesla
2nd Place: Cypress Ivy
3rd Place: Iron Sentinel
Honorable Mention: G4B5
-
It's almost that time again guys! 10 PM Eastern in Pocket D, same as always. This week's theme is "Go Go Power Armor" and is open to anyone in a robotic or power armor costume. Whether it's high tech, junkyard, or steampunk, come on over!
-
Thanks for the feedback guys! "Fire/Cold for getting to the AV, Sonic/Cold once you're at the AV" really puts the whole thing into perspective. Now I just need to decide which is more important to me.
