Yes, in fact I've been beninning to use that with my dragon-themed character a little more.

I used to not worry about the Midnighters at the beginning, but now I realize it's access to ITF among other things, I try to get access as soon as possible.
  2. Wall of text forthcoming. This is just my opinion: it may or may not make sense, and you're free to continue playing how you always have been.

    1. I end up finding that most power-spammers I encounter (AKA, the ones who think area-Speed Boost and area-shielding are helpful for people doing essentially nothing) aren't even roleplayers. RPers that do do that are either fighters (which are usually part of RP I don't care much for), generally doing it once or twice to "harmlessly" bug their friends (which is shrugged off/countered by the victim in global channels), or, well, maybe it's part of power discovery RP (after all, AoE powers that don't require a specific target are the only ones that can be activated outside of combat).
General rule of thumb for this? If it really bothers you that much, move away.

    2. When I hear "development" RP, the first thing I'm going to think of is a teen group, which (from what I'm aware of) has its own connotations to some players. If the character's adult, chances are that he isn't just getting powers but has been at it a while before "registry". He/she can still be developed, sure, but it'll end up being less about powers (while still important!) and more about personality.
It's good that you know what you want, but I'm not sure that limiting yourself to one strict facet of RP will benefit you. (Unless you tried other kinds of stories before.)

    3. I'll go and mention that an altoholic can put substantial effort and seriousness into developing characters. I'm guilty of a huge alt roster of concept/RP characters, myself, but there's a handful that I push myself to work on, to get them right and to make them great characters. I will concede to the OP that it's harder to do, but it can be done.

    4. SGs do not always RP in base. There are groups that do attempt to have large-scale open RP outside with many members, but sometimes these sessions are rare. Even individual members can just RP without the confines of their group.
I'm in AP with characters all the time, even. Some people come up to me, other times I go and seek out RP chances on my own. It's a give/take.

    5. I do not like red-side. I cannot play villians well. So I have no further comments about the state of VRP.

    6. Emo RP? If you don't like it and it's near you, just silently move away.

    7. Godmodding? If I'm given sufficient warning in advance and I am able to agree to certian actions, I don't mind it. If someone just comes up to me and goes you are already dead (which can be either horrible powergaming or a non-RPer trying to mock actual RP, really), then forget it.

    8. Lore-based RPer. I remember being on one of my characters talking OOCly to one of these, once.
Yeah, I like the idea of developing the backstory of certian NPCs, but for a grand majority of us, that NPC exists for the sole purpose of radio bulletin fodder. And it'd be silly for a hero to run into the person that the police just told you to rescue from the Lost/Circle/Fifth/whatever.
Then there's the fact that certian "serious" RPers will look at something like Demetrios' LBRP character (which is based off of a Signature Villian by his own statement) and simply dismiss it like they would a character that has the story of being Statesman's clone or Ghost Widow's love child... a judgement I'd be guilty of (EDIT: quietly) passing on some characters.

(Which reminds me, there seems to be an increasing number of toons out there explicitly based on cards from Magic the Gathering as of late. A tangent but still (very slightly) relevant to that last point.)

  4. ... is that while most of the rewards you can buy at the merit dealers in Ouro are account wide, I'm reading that the costume change emotes don't seem to be.

Some of those CCEs (read: ice block) would be great for concepts I want to start at level one, since I'm not a fan of playing to x in order to complete a character project.

At least the rest of the stuff you can get is one and done, don't have to worry about it again.

Eh, this is all given that I end up running a Trial to get those merits in the first place... comp isn't the best machine going as it is. Here's hoping there's another way to get these in the near future?

    *shrug*
  5. QuarriosSoul

    A possible idea.

Ahem, of course you have the situation covered. Carry on.

I'd actually be interested in this but the last time I tried to join a static team I never made it (except for once). And Praetoria sometimes doesn't like my computer,
  6. Well, despite not really using Galaxy as much for a starting point, I have done a little RP there. I'm going to be sad to see the zone go, but at the same time, I'm just as interested to see what the tutorial would be like.

(Where are we going to have our Golden Age Festival now? :<)
  7. A little late for this, but I hope you all had a good one. I know I had my Canadian patriot on the field.
  8. QuarriosSoul

    A possible idea.

(I'd have to note for you that if you're intending to make an SG of it...

...the group name you came up with is already taken. Unless I'm missing something.)
  9. Unless I said this already: personally, I never thought our innocent detective in Kings Row held such power inside up him until now.

Other than that, as a roleplayer I tend to take CRT visits depending on the situation, but mostly as OOC amusement when they hang out all of a sudden in AP, for example.
  10. (You're quite welcome, Chakat, and I'm glad you (and others) had a great time at the party.)

(PS. Hyperhaste will be bugged to no end about this for the rest of his short life, I'm afraid. XD)

Beastyle switched into a Recluse character model during one of his visits, yes.
  14. Great to see people sounding off on this! And in a good way! And a redname posted in my topic! :O

    A-ny-how.

I just heard Freitag went into the D on Virtue as Faathim. I'm going.
  15. Because I've noticed that, in the last week alone, we've had quite a sustained presence from "up there".

Zwillinger resurrecting Null and trying to take part in a CC.
Beastyle taking punishment in Atlas Square, and then recovering enough to party. (Let me be your bodyguard next time, eh?)
Freitag leading people on merry spider chases around Atlas.

Let me say this: please, keep doing it if the bosses let you. I think the good majority of us like having you around and actually in the community you serve.

    -Q (24 alts, 1 mastered... and counting!)
  16. The Malleable Mechanic smiles at Nurse Midnight proudly and gives a thumbs up.

And yes, I think even for just the name I've very proud of him. I actually snagged it when I tried to take one of my short away breaks last year: it was too good of a concept to pass up.

One of the things I regret to not do was participate in the billboard contest a while back. I'm always promoting his repair/pawn shop in character (the southwest corner of the intersection by the Skyway gate in AP!) and that would have been a good way to at least attempt to make it official canon and lore or whatever, but I haven't much skills in Photoshop/GIMP.

    Ah well.
  17. Yeah, it has, Legion.

What I do know is that the character won't be playing off Incarnateship, but I haven't even started a plan for my enhancements. Then again, I'm not really into the micromanagement of things so I may hold off until I'm ready to dive in.

Thanks for the kind grats, though, Air and Legion!
  18. I will reiterate my comments here.

Well played, Zwillinger. You have made many people happy today.
  19. So, it took me fifteen and a half months. However!

I am happy to report that at 2:46pm Pacific time today, my main character Malleable Mechanic reached the Level 50 mark: the first of my characters to do so. (Not trained him yet for an RP reason, but he will be.)

I'm disappointed with the screen I took of the "blast of power" (it was right at the tail end after all the flashbang happened) so I won't put it up.

Anyway, note to Q: it's about time.
  20. Three unused slots locked, three redeem tokens gained, but two tokens I didn't use up before i20 are now presumed missing. I'll try to hold out for a while before sending a support claim, but I'm concerned.
  21. I should have entered this to promote my character's shop! Or at least got someone to help me with it.

Congratulations to the winners, there's some really great entries here!
  22. 47!

    This should decide it!

    If not, the following remain: 41, 53, 65, 94, 96, 98
  23. 56.

Long time no see, 606ers, and grats to you CR!
  24. Sorry, I'm so behind on Mechanic's page here. I'm setting a bad business example. :P

But other than that it's been a blast looking at other pages.
  25. You were a cool dev, Ocho. Glad I got to meet you at least once or twice before you decided to move on! Got a screen, even.

Wishing you all the best in your new directions, and if you still get to play CoH every once in a while... come to blue side! Virtue! Look up my global or something!
