ok, i love my grav / kin troller, but there are something in gravs immo powers i dont like, atm i dont have any attack powers for him, no propel, no crush. Should i get them and how should i slot my grav powers
[/ QUOTE ]
it's simple innit? grav distortion -> propel -> BADOOM! -> next...
chuck in a few siphon powers when you want a lightshow
slot your GD for accuracy and hold duration, propel accracy and damage, end recs/recharge where you feel it's necessary
just don't go duelling stalkers :-/ -

... and snipe which I can't use in fights, due to the long interrupt time...
[/ QUOTE ]
you can use snipe in a fight mate - it's my main attack that!
answer to the question: empath - no miss heals = no brainer who's the best healercan't say I'd ever play one tho *zzzzzzzz*
-
Hey! Gratz Shpongle!
Will you be handing round the free Shpongle anytime?????? I'll be there if so
Enjoy - I'm sure you'll find someway to --
Black G -
I would like recall ally over maneuvers any time on an empath, especially when you also have assault in the build. Also swift + Superspeed? Might as well take health.
-
Just put Dr Vahz away - my 1st AV - had to make a celebratory post - YAY!
The Ub3r Chix strike again
Got my first SO too - w00t! -

fearsome stare with to hit debuffs is ace.
i think i have it slotted 1 ACC, 3 debuff and 2 recharge, idea being better to lock down multiple groups faster than one group very well, you cna always catch the free ones with your petrifying gaze.
[/ QUOTE ]
who says ED made the game worse???
that also looks like a good idea, and if it wasn't so damn expensive to reslot twice I would like give it a whirl. regardless, it shows what a great power fearsome is - you can tailor it to debuff or lock down according to your whim.

Flying Dark/Dark Defender, hidden Spine/Inv Scrapper .....

like it!
-
Would agree with the above - My Dark/Psi has made 20 and I have never felt the need for Hasten or Stamina - although I will pick up the later eventually. Also I'm not sure about the slotting of Fearsome Stare with to hit debuffs. Personally I'd use Darkest Night, Tar Patch and Twilight Grasp as your debuffers and slot Fearsome for Recharge Reduction, Accuracy and Fear Duration. Just an idea...

Oh, and you get a big pink, wavy disco explosion as your final "nuke" power. It's pink!
[/ QUOTE ]
That's it then! Definitely taking Psi -
Yep, heard that Psi is a slow one with some dodgy early powers. But Dark has a lot of great early picks so the psi can wait till later and better powers.
-
Don't see many of these about and I'm tempted to give one a whirl - any thoughts? Anyone had good/bad experiences?
Rather than post up a build I thought I'd just start a bit of discussion... -
It's a nice combination, very well geared towards team play. You will be popular
My FF/Dark, Dark Corridor, was a blast through to the 20's, but my main point of contention would be the higher level FF powers don't mesh that well with the protective - team oriented - bubbles as they are all knockbacks. That comment for PvE. -
Pure support without recall friend??? Go TP instead of fly.
Also I would think hard about dropping the fitness pool altogether and go for concealment with the grant invisible, and then phase shift so you can sneak around the battlefield without having to put PFF up and ruin all your other bubbles.
Agree on concentrating on def buffs as the enhancement of choice on all bubbles. -
Yup. Grav would be good I think, hold em up with grav distortion and let your mate blap away without having to chase after his targets. Course, if he was also a controller he'd be doing double damage... but nevermind
You can also handle the knockback side if the blapper is getting too much flack via propel which is just too much fun to ignore.
Maybe a forcefield secondary to help look after your squishy frontliner? -
Dispersion is ace of that there's no doubt.
It definitely looks like the higher powers are both blessing and curse though... melee-types hate people flying all over the place, and can be rescued by recall friend as easily as by repulsion... -
Looks a bit messy and liable to get up scrappers and tankers' noses... but that's what I'm asking
-
Well, I have the 4 bubbles now, and with level 20 coming along I'm turning an eye to the higher level FF powers - I have to say, they don't look very exciting!
My secondary set is Dark, and I've been taking team friendly powers like bestow invisibility, recall friend etc as I like to play my bubbles defensively - she's no offender
I dont really like the look of the repel fields or detention field, and even force bubble looks of little use. Any thoughts from those with experience - are they any good, or has the time come to concentrate on secondary and pool powers bearing in mind I never solo this toon? -
A friend that I team with plays that build - he's at level 9 and finding it difficult - mainly due to the too slow attack rate, and getting hurt too easily.
2 pretty major drawbacks then!!!
Exactly what powers he has I dont know - I think he has 2 attacks, build up, the basic SR power, and combat jumping. Seeing as I haven't played scappers I don't know how to advise him re: improving the build over the next couple of levels...any suggestions? -
Yes, it's ace.
My team love a bit of glue and flash arrow before they pile in
And you look cool as ---- too. -

Very nice words, I was wondering whether or not I would be a Scrapper and a Tanker's nightmare because I find that Gale can get me out of a very sticky situation (when it hits!).
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah thatDon't do it! If you have a handy scrapper or tanker about just go hide behind 'em. That's where Stormies get their bad rep in a nutshell - blowing everyone's targets all over the place just as they lined up their big hitter melee attack
-
No such thing as a wrong choice is there?
I'll team with anyone who is even moderately helpful (read: doesn't just aggro everything on the mish and lie there demanding to be rezzed) so consider that another vote. There are so many great defender sets that it's a crime to see the 'defender must be a healer' mentality out there. I like to think of us as 'blasters who can take a punch AND help out friends in trouble' -
I wonder if anyone could point me in the direction of a good, up-to-date guide for slotting the various defender power sets, or just leave some thoughts to consider. A few things to consider
- I don't (necessarily) want a build, just to know more about how slotting works
- I'm new to CoH and I gather that slotting powers has changed somewhat recently - I have seen a lot of talk of 6-slotting powers all with the same effect, but I think that is now out-of-date, correct?
Well, thanks for any feedback. I really like the defender AT, as I like the play style, buffing others, TP'ing out your colleagues when they are about to go under and so on. For the record I'm playing Dark Corridor who is a FF/Dark Defender, and she's really set up just for team play - all the protective fields, recall friend, grant invisibility and so on. Hope to see you around (on Defiant)! -
OK, so with PFF on you cannot activate Dispersion Field and have it affect your team mates, but what if it was already on when you activated PFF? Anyone know?
-
Indeed you can, and I'm very impressed! I crossed the gulch several times last night with my PFF buzzing away and no problems whatsoever - so of that at level 5... Pity the same could not ne said for the rest of the team
Infact I'm very impressed by the FF set altogether, and it's fun to play a buffer rather than a fighterFunny how mistaken I was when I looked through the powerset . . .
-
Right then, that's me told. PFF it is!
Primarily I want to build a defender for pretty much exclusive team play, so I've taken both of the first 2 FF powers and the first 2 dark attack powers by level 4. Seems to be OK so far, and I must say the PFF is great for travelling around and I'm looking forward to see how it does in the hollows with all those orange and red types constantly taking pops at you while you try to find your door missions
