  1. Let's talk about the delivery mechanics. I think we have a good concensus as to the effect. How would we like to set it up? Throw it like caltrop? Set it like traps: PGT? One of the biggest sticking points of the Poison tier 8 power is that it triggered so rarely. I am not married to any one idea if the trap area looks like Traps: PGT, or static field, or TA: glue arrow AoE, or tar patch.

    Flaming zombies are formidable.
  3. Who can resist flaming zombies . I have a necro/thermal leveling up, and the thermal shields really help out with some zombie weaknesses. The leveling up growth takes off with the second grave knight, more damage kicks butt. When you get to 26, the Lich is there and you wonder about the boy some, but at level 32 with all his upgrades, he is markedly improved.

The next big step is when you get your two big debuffs at 35 and 38, then you are more fully matured. Soul mastery is the way to go. Put the grave knights on aggressive (not named boss groups, AVs, or GMs ) and follow them around with the others, stunning, healing as needed. The grave knights aren't super aggressive. You are a rolling mass of undead carnage! Forge on two grave knights? YES, please!

Your build will then cry out for the spiritual alpha ability for the Stuns, Heals, and ToHit debuffs. Go forth and conquer!

    Advice on Trio?

Dark/Dark like you say will provide a lot of support. Demons are no slouch, they aren't nuking every 30 seconds, but they are steady, safe and provide a lot of damage. When the Demon Prince takes out that ice sword, LOOK OUT, it's butt-kicking time. Electric/electric I haven't played myself, but a regular teammate of mine just makes a mess of enemies with his brute
  5. If you can slot a damage enhancement in a power, then musculature will also buff that ablility.

The same goes for accuracy, defense, recharge, endurance reduction of the other alphas.

Fearsome Stare or Howling Twilight are the preferred opening volleys. If you are single pulling, twilight grasp isn't a bad way to go since it debuffs that target.
  7. I agree, you don't need to softcap defense. You have twilight grasp, and your ember demon will heal you and your pets, too. Your Dark Servant will also do some very nice healing.

I disagree with the Bookkeeper on his point about tactics. I take tactics for my lowest tier pets, esp if you want to tackle +4 content in the incarnate material.

Your demons and demon prince need endurance slotting to reduce the endurance for abilities that are not affected by pet damage IO set enhancements: for instance, the resist aura, the heal aura, the cold aura and slows.

I do agree, it was such a good story thate they could have made it longer like some of the epic Lord the Ring trilogy movies.
  9. Storm is an awesome debuffing set. Illusion is really good with indestructible phantom army, Rad/sonic is legendary for its solo ability and supporting teams.

One suggestion not voiced is a Night Widow. She has SoA leadership, can take pool leadership, has some features of a stalker, striking from stealth, but the big buff is Mind Link and it recharges much faster on widow than a fortunata. Dart Burst has some -regen, too. Just make a second build for your fortunata at a trainer and give it a whirl.

( coff, coff) NECRO/poison over BOTS/poison? It might work for you, but to me, the bots are far less squishy and the protector bots get the heal pet power in the first upgrade.
  11. So many times, in situations where things are starting to unravel, I will hit the Tornado button, and realize again, "say, that's no panic button, that's the I WIN button!"
  12. radsmash - if all you were using for stun is oppressive gloom, then yes, too much end for too little benefit. However, Dark/dark users get to choose Howling Twilight and Dark Pit. All the stuns stack and can stun lieutants and bosses. Stuns are great mitigation. If you have dark consumption on top of slotted inherent stamina, it shouldn't be a problem.

I saw it Tuesday. I was blown away. Thor is better than "with great power comes great responsibility". Thor was better than, "I'm batman. I'm batman". I can't compare it unfavorably to any DC movie, any of the Superman movies. And, risking banishment by the sci fi geeks, Thor was better than, "I love you." "I know." at least episode 4 when there are nearly infinite blaster shots and no one in the rescue party is injured. About X-men? Please, not in the same ... realm

It was good on a character level. It was good on an acting level. It was decent ( I am not a Marvel comic book fanboy) on staying true to the Marvel lore. It was very good at tying into the norse mythology that I have retained. I think the writing excelled in bringing the audience to dramatic climaxes, and I was left feeling, how high is the roller-coaster going this time? I think the film dealt with literary themes in a manner unparalleled to date by superhero films. I will be honest, I got a lump in my throat at a certain part of the movie, and I am not going to share where, but I would hazard a guess, most Thor fans wouldn't have choked up at the same point.

At any rate, it's worth a matinee. We saw it in 2-D because I am recovering from eye surgery and am able to see out of only one eye at this time.

  15. Player don't like downtime. Forum users don't like down time, In comparison to non-named alternative choices, the CoH community is up and ready for action for a much larger percentage of time. I thank our folks on the City of... team that keep things moving, growing, expanding, and improving with the demonstrable minimal interruption.
  16. Nobody said it, but I will add: Demon Summoning is very fun. Masterminds are not the end all be all of the incarnate content ( ok they kind of get the shaft :P ), but my Demon Summoning/Thermal mastermind is a juggernaut in the level 40 content. I think it's a lot of fun.

Another thing that may have slipped under the radar. Masterminds with dark mastery were buffed in that the twilight grasp heal radius is bigger at the corruptor defender radius.

Lastly, thank you for being our nation's hero in the real world. There is nothing like an all-volunteer fighting force.

You select the minion you want to tp hold alt and shift and click where you want him to appear. He will tp and set to follow at the same time.
The trouble is if you stealth far enough from the door, all the pets will auto-tp *poof* right where the mastermind is.
  18. Just looking at the powers, it looks like a good set of powers I would want. Hover is very good to take you out of melee range of nasties. You are testing out the travel powers and that is fine. I would not take fly and teleport both, but I would hold on to hover since Lag can do bad things to teleporters if they don't have hover.

You will want more slots in tactics. I like at least four, with 5 you can get a tohit set with recharge bonus. Speaking of which, if you drop fly, and with all the jet packs, why not, you can take hasten much earlier. I DO suggest this. This opens up a power for ... Oppressive Gloom! Dark pit, oppressive gloom and howling twilight make you ... STUNNING!

Slotting, like you alluded to, can be decided later as you become accustomed to powers. Twilight Grasp, Shadow Fall, Dark Servant definitely all get six slots. Moonbeam, maybe not six, but I wouldn't drop the power since defender snipes can be very effective; for instance i have seen moonbeam and psionic lance do very good jobs of pulling single AVs on the Statesman TF.
  19. Storm is fun, and a lot of the play is proactive rather than reactive. It helps to make your chances. Like the previous poster said, you get a mentality to use opportunities to use small offices for example. This, to the point where I will run around a group OUTSIDE the office, run my stormy into the small office, this is where I block the door with hurricane after my debuffed friends arrive (remember they lose range and the ability to hit).

I started playing my first stormy on hero-side. Back in the early issues, outdoor debt was the same as indoors. Teams could not set the difficulty of missions, but outdoors you could challenge higher level mobs. That said, our SG, a group of all defenders would go to Boomtown for fun and profit. Even in an outdoor map like Boomtown, there is plenty of landscape to leverage gale and hurricane to greater effect.

For a general combination. I favor using gale the very first click. This will put your foes on their butt. Gale does NOT have a 'saving hit' check. The foes don't squeeze off a few attack before they flop. While they are picking themselves up ( I don't have delusions that gale hits 100% of the foes 100% of the time, but it eats a TON of alpha. ) drop the freezing rain. Freezing rain sets the table for all the damage attacks. Again while flopping comedy ensues, hit snow storm. The group should be at or near the slow cap. NOW! Blast, blast, blast! If you have the uber neuter tool for obnoxious targets, use freezing ray on the sapper, use screech on the mentalist!

Especially if solo, don't hold back, they get the kitchen sink. You are a storm, maximize the 'cane and the rain. Push those guys back in the rain. Push them to the snow anchor. Pile them in corners with 'cane and gale. Tornade is better is used more often than less. There is scatter, but if the targets are in a corner it's minimized. Tornado isn't just about the kb, it's a stunning tool, too.

The moose is absolutely correct. Also! Remember twilight grasp got a boost so that the area of heal is at corruptor/defender size! It's much easier to keep the pets alive. Necro/dark (as well as necro/storm) leverages the tohit debuff. Along the same lines, dark servant is much more melee minded, so he will have a tendency to heal more melee pets and Chill of the Night comes into play much more for the melee zombies.

    TPing Pets?

Grant invis does work on pets. It used to be funny to have grant inviz and group fly in PvP zones, toggle off group fly then hit aggressive on your pets. Nice to drop in that way. Grant inviz is ineffective against +perception.

Summoning pets in the shadow fall IS much safer than just regular summoning. Dark does have a lot of tools to make summoning closer to spawns in contrast to other sets like poison or traps.

    TPing Pets?

Another method, to blitz missions with objectives and minimize clearing the whole map is to get invisibility (shadow fall + superspeed is one example) and then summon your minions in a safe spot. Please note: if you try this against nemesis snipers or rikti drones, you won't care for the results.

.... werid *shrug* At least its working now. Just gfor giggles I tossed in a second Def Enchacment same issue (didn't work, even after resummon). So I then instead of logging zoned over to sharkhead. Enchancments took effect.

So its something about the zone you put the Def in not registering them on the pet until you log or zone for the first time with them equipt.

Bizare... but at least thier working now.
Ah, I bet it's related to the stuck pet problem with a difference in releasing or dismissing the pet.

edit: It's a heck of a revelation about something pertinent for many masterminds if just for a short duration.

  25. I think my Demon Summoning / Thermal mastermind is a hell of a healer. He has the aura heal, cauterize, with two different resist shields, a mez breaking power, a rez, and an ember demon with a big big aura heal that he uses more often than Dark Servant uses twilight grasp. Ember demon also has a big, big ally protective resist shield. All the heals require no accuracy test.
