His birthday, eh? An excellent opportunity to finish this CoH illustration.
Happy birthday, big guy. -
Wow, this is going to be fun. I already know exactly what scene I'd like to do.
Projectionist is a tech Illusion (all powers)/ Force Field (all bubbles, no repels, no force bolt, no detention)/Primal Forces (all) and Teleport as travel power.
I'd like to know if you fly/hover for my picture -

Besides, it would be unfair to Aerones and Projectionist to extend the deadline seeing as how they managed their time to get the project done by the deadline like an artist should do.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, technically I didn't get done either, I just posted what I got. So in that case Aerones should be the the only contestant. Too bad so many have dropped out, I had hoped this would run on many more months. -
I originally thought I'd finish the background on some of the characters I'm working on anyways, but after I posted my joke-description I figured 'Why not try to actually do that background instead?' Bad mistake, since work load and now a mild food poisoning made me put only about 8 hours into this which proved not nearly enough to get the piece even half-finished. Since I don't want Aerones to win by default so I'll post what I got.

Sharkhead morning
No screenshot where used as reference but I did jump around and look a bit beforehand. I'll definitely put a character or two in this and finish it later. Learned a lot and got to brush up on perspective so thanks to Juggy for pushing us. -

Another try.

Very cool look, my fav so far.
'Dev panic' is hilarious but I'm not sure we want to remind them about that particular aspect of their job. -
I hope you get lots of entries, you and all the devs deserve it for making a great game.
I've been practicing doing chibis lately so here is my version of Blue Steel.
( Full version ) ( PNG version )
* Edit: Cleaned up versions, added .PNG -
Oh, I agree both that it's a great challenge and on the importance of backgrounds. I was just poking fun at my own shortcomings.
I am going to submit, just trying to get inspired.

Very cool, she looks like she can take care of herself. Good use of the costume pieces too.

Haven't forgotten but I'm away on a business trip so I thought that this month I'll just describe my masterpiece:
'Imagine if you will a sunrise over Sharkhead Isle. The Hell Forge stand out as a hazy silouette to the right. A sprawl of rooftops make their way towards the harbor in the foreground chased by the orange pipes of doom. Potter's Field can be made out in the distance to the left. Vapor trails in the air and a lone explosion among the catwalks tells us Sky Raiders and Demolitionists are both early risers. The piece is painted in oil 2,5m x 1m" in muted, earthy pallet"
I'm very satisfied how this turned out. There are a few surprises in the picture also for those that look closely! -
"..we can put a dumpster here, and here. And just some dark, swift strokes up here and we have some powerlines hanging above King's Road. That is the beauty of it, we can do whaaateveeer we want!"
-
Oh yeah, if it was 'Fear Factor' this would be the round to eat maggot burgers and roach-ke-bobs. I guess running a screenshot through a filter is an option
Just a few questions to clear up:
Are other live entities as pedestrians, animals etc OK?
Are vehicles and effects like explosions OK?
What the heck was the Cloverfield monster anyway? -
Wow, that was rough. Almost halved the field in one sweep. Congratulations to those who didn't make it, you're free of the pressure and can make any art you want
-
Tacky Tricky and Turky Lurkey. Hey, that rhymed!
Juggy, I've seen enough reality shows to know what you're up to. You will send the bottom 3 to another forum and later they'll come back and challenge the ones remaining. Also Anwyeth and EmperorSteele will come in as Jokers. *wanders off to do a confessional* -
Cool stuff. And you have even fewer posts than I do, so I get to boss you around!
What? Isn't that the way it works? -
Here's my entry: Beach Volley Baller. I started doing Blue Steel but couldn't get it right so I finally went with another idea based on an old drawing of mine. Hope I didn't bend it too far :P
Love the other entries, especially Hammadonnaand lady Recluse.
*edit* In case people want to see it without signing up to dA: Maybe NSFW -
Hehe, here I read the original post when there were no replies and thought it sounded like a neat idea. After brushing up on Art Noveau from my books and internet I return and find the thread almost had a meltdown.
Personally I think superhero motifs would lend itself well to other styles than comics. Recently enjoyed this constructivistic (sp?) piece of the Flash . A whole number of the scoop dedicated to just one style might be a bit boring if you're not into it. but I still think it's cool of Snow to remind us that odd styles are welcome too.
Anyways, I'm looking forward to seeing what format you guys come up with for this. -
Dang, what a massively impressive piece. I can not even begin to fathom the amount of work behind this.
/mindboggled -
Grats, Tricky. Since Juggy said the winner still had to submit something I guess it should be according to the theme. So LJ, that dot would have to be of the opposite sex of the one in the game at least
-
Arctic Innocence's speed paint would be my favourite if it had been a bit more 'refined'. Toxic's is also a strong candidate as I love the allusion and Sylar's expression in particular. But Tacky Tricky gets my vote for the combination of easily recognizable characters with a familiar composition
I would love to see a full color version of it.

I finished my piece. I had a similar idea as Bobby so I wont link directly due to the (slight) blood content.
it started out big but was quickly cropped to just a portrait.

Personally I like the more extensive backgrounds. Makes it easier to get a grasp of the character and what situations he might find himself in. A fun character anyways and I think the guide is enough to work from.
-
well done, Spino. I recognized the picture from the show even though I haven't seen all the episodes.
I've started on a piece that I hope will follow the guidelines.
