Well, let me first say that a difference in opinion is not a flame. Take that as you will.
Anyway, I was responding more to geekchick than I was to you. Her beef seems to be in the timeliness of the fixes that the competent and polite members (and I'm sure, to an extent, even the A-Holes) have brought to the Devs attention. I'm simply trying to point out that there are other factors that go into making these changes and that doing so "right away" may not always be possible.
Hell, the simple fact that chages ARE coming is proof enough that they've taken those repsonses seriously. Just because they aren't happening as fast as you would like (I use the word "you" generally) doesn't mean that you're being ignored. -
Part of the problem with many members of the testing community is that they believe what they say is golden and that the game is completely broken until everything that they comment on is changed to their specifications. Often times, this is done rather rudely (Read anything ever posted by Balron).
Just because you disagree with a change that's been implemented and they aren't changing it right away doesn't mean that it's entirely bad for the game... or that fixes for it aren't being considered. Invul changes for example. Despite the HUGE outcry from (it seems) every Invul tanker here, the changes have made most Invul tanks I've talked to on live BETTER overall, myself included. However, after listening to player feedback, some changes are already on the test server.
Additionally, yes... I3 was released with bugs. The fact you seem to ignore is IF Update 3 were postponed to fix every issue you deem problematic (Nevermind what the people that actually work on the game think) we would probably never see an update. Seriously. There will always be problems, there will always be bugs, there will always be bad decisions... but waiting until everything is completely flawless is unfeasible, unrealistic, and problematic in it's own right.
Get off of your high horse. The bottom line is that we ARE being listened to. We ARE being taken seriously. And "our" ideas and suggestions ARE being considered.
P.S. I do believe Statesman stated that these changes came about BECAUSE of data collection (what you folks on the test server have done) and competent player feedback on the forums. Not once did he suggest that these changes were all his idea. -
Yay!! Great news!!
One comment to the CoH community though... PLEASE, for the love of Pete, don't come in here changing your tune and getting all pissy when the "group xp increases" aren't as high as YOU think they should be!
While I agree that they need to be raised, especially in a full team of 8, the reasoning for why xp scales down with team size makes a lot of sense: i.e. It's much, much easier to kill things in a larger team.
Also... no more Hard-Boiled??? Awwww!!! I loved that name... and the reference! -

Radiation: Another excellent secondary for singularities. Accelerate Metabolism can free up enhancement slots for damage, and Enervating Field can debuff the enemy resistances, which further magnifies singularity damage. Acc Met also has a nice fringe benefit of speeding up the singularities and boosting their damage. Choking Cloud may also find some application as a tool to supplement the singularity control: on its own, it's not worth much, but coupled with 3-4 single target controllers, it might relegate GDF to an emergency tool. Have any high level Grav/Rads out there gone against the grain and tried this out?

Excellent guide!!
Since you asked about this, and I'm somewhat knowledgable about it, I figured I'd chime in with my nonsense.
Choking Cloud rocks with Sings. I wouldn't go so far as to say that GDF has been relegated to an "emergency tool," but I do find myself using it less and less in solo situations and occasionally in teams.
When using choking cloud you have to realize that it's a PBAoE and you have to be in the middle of the mob in order for it to work... this can be dangerous for us squishy controller folk. The key involves utilizing the tanking abilities of Sings before trying to jump in the mob. My CC strategy is simple: SS thru the mob that way the Sings follow and grab aggro directly. After they have the baddies attention, run into the group with Choking Cloud running. I've rarely ever been aggroed on using this method.. as Sings do an amazing job of tanking.
That method only works solo though. In team situations, the tanks and scrappers have already got the aggro, so jumping in with CC isn't too much of an issue... the added melee holds are quite welcome and the Sings do an excellent job of locking down the ones that CC tends to miss.
To get the best use of of CC 2 or 3 hold SOs are needed. While I personally love this power, I will admit that it's not the world's greatest power on it's own. Used with Singularities and some occasional lingering radiation it can be a very effective tool. -
A thoughtful pace... as we make our monolouge before defeating the disabled hero... hehe

Awesome! Thanks for addressing the issues States!
One quick question though... would that decrease in HP effect their ability to tank at all? -

Anyway, with this new change, I think even tanks and scrappers may have a hard time soloing Bosses... that's a bit too extreme.

Personally I hope they make it that scraps and tanks have a hard time soloing bosses..................as it is right now I can and have taken on 3 Fake Nemesis that are 4 levels above me - and win by myself (with some rest brakes while being beat upon). Something is wrong with that.

Hrm.. good point. -
Yeah.. I think making bosses completely unsoloable is a bit too far.
And that above comment applies (imo) to pre-32 and mind controllers only. Pets of all types make a HUGE difference when it comes to soloing with a controller. Bosses are a joke. Even some AVs can be tackled with some well-thought out strategy.

Here's my question:
Why do some missions not give xp (debt relief) to exemplars when completed?
I dragged an exemplared lvl 26 around KR on a "Kill 10 Lost" mission and he received no debt relief when the mission was completed. Just wondering...

Teammates have never gotten experience from "Kill X amount of X" missions. It's always been this way. That only works for door missions. -
Yay!
I have but one question Mr. Statesman:
With all these new powers being added to the game (i.e. epic pools and a 10th power to each set), are there any plans to increase the amount of powers our heroes are allowed to have or, (please please please) will there be some level limit increase in the future?
I don't like that I have to limit my character t so few powers when so many are available to me. Re-rolling the same hero to have a coupe extra different powers just isn't a feasible option. -
I don't get how this is exploiting... because people stay in one area? Because it's repetitive? If that's the base of your argument, maybe you should petition to have street hunting eliminated as well.

ummm... i thought this was about "controllers"

Knew I'd see this sooner or later. The Controller AT is the WORST soloing AT. Some other ATs that are better at soloing hav some lesser, but still decent controls.
So, if you really want a solo controller, you shuold consider two paths - the path of AT Controllers with OK soloing powers and the path of AT non-controllers with OK controlling powers.
Both types are in here. In the controller AT, I chose fire because of it's DoT and illusion because of it's "solo-focus". While RAD is a great solo secondary, grav doesn't compare to Fire or Ill for a pure soloer.
Now, if you want to make a Controller that CAN solo, but would like to group, too. GRAV starts to look a lot better.
[/ QUOTE ]
I got what you were going for, I was just expecting something else, obviously. While Ill and Fire controllers can solo FASTER(i'm stopping just sort of better) than a good Grav controller, i would argue that they aren't far behind in overall solo effectiveness. I solo +2-3 mobs a lot with lvl 38 grav/Rad and never get hit. Does it take me a minute or two longer than a fire controller to defat all the baddies? yes, sure, but I don't drag 15 imps behind me KSing other peoples mobs when I move on to the next kill.
I'm biased anyway, so just let me ramble -

Try soloing with a Grav/Rad... that should be in the top 5 for sure. -
I believe Statesman has addressed his concerns over the exp issue several times - Be it in a group, doing missions (which has been partially solved with the new update), or the issue of reward for fighting +2 cons over +4-5 cons. The man with the plan is aware of the issue and intends to do something about it in the (hopefully) near future. Give them time guys. Patience is a virtue.
