hi guys,
Im currently looking into making a kinetics corruptor but I was wanting to know the damage cap on them, can anyone tell me?
The reason I ask, I had a kinetics defender and the damage cap is 300%, which I was nearly always at in a team because its not that difficult to hit with more than one kin but I did feel a lot weaker than everyone else, since its a supporting role I did expect it but if corruptors is higher i could be converted -
Anyone else suffering the same thing? 3 times ive crashed today now whilst running MA maps, not for any real reason either.
Friend told me the US are complaining about it as well. I didnt even see any patch notes for it, anyone know what it was besides another breakage? -

Well its more or less a brand new pc, with a new xfx 8800GTS graphics card in. This is the only time its ever happened.

hey guys,
Just had a very weird crash in the atlas MA building, first the graphics went weird as shown in the screenshots here and here
I thought it might be just one of those random things that can be sorted with /reloadgfx or /unloadgfx but neither worked. I was still able to see my chat box and powerset bars so i used pocket d teleport, hoping a loading page would sort it out, but as soon as i loaded into pocket d it was the same.
So i logged out and when i logged back in, the charecters were just spikey blocks, so i quit game to restart and i got blue screen of death and computer restarted automatically.
This has never happened before but I'm running windows 7, I'm thinking that might be something to do with it because its also running directx 11.
Anyone else had this problem? -

Agreed, they put it on test for about what... two weeks? in that time either minor bugs or none at all get fixed and major ones make it through to live. For instance the chat bugs etc.
If they hadnt been in such a rush to say look at the new shinyyyyy it might have actually been successful -
just a heads up, it seems the veteran rewards information page from the plaync site is linking to a buddy key information page at the minute.
On a side note, whats the reward for 21 month steadfast badge please?

Anyway since I know its going to get asked (it usually does by new players) there is no real 'best' tank set, everyone of them is good in there own way it just depends how you play it. Quick breakdown though:
Dark: High overall resists, very reliant on heal but needs constant watching of hp and endurence to play effectively. Low defence, no knockback resist. Very endurence heavy needs good slotting especially on heal.
Fire: More offencive version of dark armor, 'swaps' having lower resists for more damage output and another build up power, these are the hardest hitting tankers (some people will argue shield but after playing both, its fire) also has a heal
Shield: highest tanker defence style set, relys on not being hit and is pretty hard to tank with until you get to 50. Shield charge is a great power to help get agro with as well and does a lot of damage. Tends to be endurence heavy as do all defence sets. Has no heal.
Ice: the only tank ive not actually played to 50, its another defence style tank, from what ive seen they dont tend to do well in pve and are nearly always the first tank to fall pre-50. Still people say they are awesome in pvp. Has a heal.
Invulnerability: My personal favorite, a mix between high resists and average defence. Can reach 90% smash and lethal resists easily, heal takes a long time to recharge but has +hp on it as well. One of the easier sets to tank with for a new player.
Willpower: Not too different to invul, has lower resists but also a defence, stamina style power and lots of regen. The easiest tanker to use for a new player.
Stone: The best tank at taking hits effectively with granite on, however the problem is you are slowed down heavily which means often you need to switch between your armors to tank well and get agro. Your armor toggles don't work together and you need to switch between. Has a heal.

I've been playing tankers for 2-3 years now, heres a few tips that might help.
Earlier levels you WILL take lots of damage and most likely die a lot, up until level 22 at least when you can slot better enhancements (single origin enhancements- a lot more effective than the ones you can get before that level).
It is frustrating not being able to effectively do your job and tank, but stick it out until this level and you will then be able to stand in the middle of a mob and laugh
Endurence is a real pain for tankers, for a newcomer i would recommend willpower just because the endurence recovery power helps lots, also dont forget the pool powers on fitness from level 6 onwards so you can get stamina at level 20. This is a staple power of almost every build.
Taunt is almost always needed especially for someone new, there is possible builds where you dont need it but you will always perform better with it plus it doesnt cost endurence or need accuracy so why not?
The biggest issue I see with new tankers nowadays is they act like there afraid of the mob, they run in and get the agro then run back into the rest of the team and hide behind them, most of the time getting everyone including themselves killed.
The best way to avoid this is what tankers call herding. You basically run in first, taunt or attack a group of enemies while the rest of your team waits, then hide behind something so the mob has to run up to you in a group, usually not far from the rest of the team. This is often a skill which determines a good tank and a bad tank.
If you want to be a good tank, remember that tanks take damage mainly, not deal it. I've seen a lot of wannabe tanks (or scrankers - scrapper tankers as there known) take a lot of damage powers before there armor powers, this often leads to the team going splat as soon as they enter a mission. Good tankers tend to only have one or two attack powers before level 20 because of all the armor powers they take and pool powers.
For a beginner to tanking I'd definately recommend staying away from ice and shield until you get a little more experience within the field. In my opinion they are very hard to start tanking with because they are defence based rather than resists which brings me onto my next point nicely...
The difference between defence and resist is that you take less damage per hit, defence is the chance you will actually be hit. Effective tankers have a mix of these but also 1% defence is supposed to be equal to 2% resists, but anything over 45% defence doesnt improve your stats because the enemy will always have a 5% chance to hit you (cap limit) where as resists are at 90% and if you can reach that you will be able to withstand most attacks from that type of damage with ease.
Tanking is one of those things that is harder than it first looks, but i strongly recommend you tell people in your team that you are new so they can decide whether to get another tank as well, which would be helpful for you because then you can watch the other one and learn from them.

the way i tend to sort out endurence issues is wait until your at least SO level first, then start by slotting your biggest endurence costing powers with endurence reductions 2 at a time, at some point your going to get the point where your endurence doesnt go down.
That being said, defence types like shield and super reflexs have loads of toggles and end up wiping out most of your recovery, so id also look how much recovery you have. If its low, then look into slotting endurence reductions on your toggles as well.
Simple answer would be to slot everything just to be sure, then when your endurence is good take a few out until your at a place your happy with. -

Really i15 will be centered around the 5th.... that makes me think they got back tracked with i14 and were forced to think of something else last minute and ended up with this. So yes it will probably be 5th column in i15 since its not the 5th anniversary.
Or more than likely, possibly the announcement for i15 will be in the positron address?

This.
Reason being, atm tankers do not have a specific set to resist energy damage better than other types of damage. Ok in pvp it doesnt make as much difference anymore, but its still a hole in my eyes.
The entire set could prove a godsend to tanks who have endurence issues.
Also, as was mentioned above, Pistols for blasters please ^^ been asking for this for about two years, shame we keep getting the 'Soon' reply :/
Also that being said, holsters and sheaths have been asked for, for as long as i can remember, still not seen/heard anything of that either. -
Ok the defrag sorted it perfectly, i thought it was the patch but i guess it wasnt.

Ok decided to make necro/traps anyway, it seemed easier to get a good name for.
So far it seems pretty fun but the basic zombies seem to die very fast, im guessing this will help with the extraction power though. -
Running O&O defrag on computer now, running the /access one. Hopefully should improve, it was fairly defragmented at 35%

Sorry, i meant low frame rate. I do use a wireless internet connection that sometimes rubberbands/make responses slower, but that hasnt changed since the graphics update.
The framerate is at least half of what it was.
EDIT: bit more information, previously to the update my resolution was 1440x900 playing in window mode. I just looked and its actually lower now, not higher at 1440x830 in window mode. I havent shrunk the screen down at all, its the same size as it was. -
I recently updated my drivers for my xfx 8800GTS and now im getting lag, i had none before.
I noticed now that the resolution will go slightly higher for some reason now but lowering it back to what it was isnt making any difference. The lag seems to come and go as im moving around, not related to power usage or anything and no new programs are running in the background.
My pc is a 4ghz pentium 4 dual core, 2gb ram which is why i cant understand why now im all of a sudden getting lag. The update said it was improving speeds up to 12% not making it slower!
Anyone else having this issue? Im thinking of reverting back to the old version but if theres any solutions i would prefer it. -

Ok since it was said that the damage buffs on pain domination wouldnt do much with gang war, how does trip mine compare to the blaster devices version on mastermind?
Im stuck in a decision on secondary powers at the minute, I do pvp but im not overly keen on storm, I do like traps but I have tried to level one before but didnt make it past level 10, and im thinking of retrying it. -

storm i can understand, but necro? i dont get it, your soul extraction wont work in normal pvp, meaning your a power down, and your zombies are all melee based meaning you get a flyer and your screwed. Only thing i can think of is the accuracy debuffs of dark powers combined with hurricane to give an effective defence, but if your going to aim for defence then FF would be better anyway. -

One small error i noticed though, the middle of the chest kinda has a bit bleeding over onto it. Not sure if it was intentional, but it seems a little off to me.
