True if anything I think the permanent nature of these powers will cause more Powerleveling though it may be limited to the test server just so people can find out what powers they like an what they don't, unless Cryptic bumps everyone transfering a level 40 villain to TR up to 50 on TR so they can take the powers for a spin...
Because Black Scorp is apparently the "tech-ist" of them but I really don't want my ice/cold pulling a mace out of that mystical region around his butt where every other gun/staff/sword/axe/mace is pulled from. -
[ QUOTE ]
If the powers are unlocked by mission content, and that's a big if, then they'll likely fall into the usual 40-45 45-50 division.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd say unlocking new powers via missions is anything but the "usual" so I don't see why the level range for the missions would be the "usual" either... -
[ QUOTE ]
... by which point you've outlevelled the relevant arcs.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't think this is about powerleveling at all.
First of all who said there was a max limit at which time you could get these?
You mean they'd force us to hold off on getting that last power or two from our Pri/Sec just so we could start in on our Patrons?
Are you saying that someone who might not have seen all the powers in action yet or who might want to wait a while to see if they get nerfed couldn't just go from 40-50 w/o training then go get their Patron powers arc?
Also I'm betting it's just 4 powers like the APPs. Otherwise they might have powers we'd want all of and force us to choose only a handful... -
My problem with it being permanent is multifaceted...but here's my main one:
Nerfing...
What happens if I pick a power and they discover everyone is picking that set/patron because of some gross imbalance? Even if I just picked it because of my origin.
Also Origin has almost no bearing on this game so touting that origin is also permanent holds little sway, not to mention it isn't very comicbook-ish (See current Spider-Man) then again ED, Suppression, "Invincible" characters taken out by 5 street thugs, etc aren't comic-bookish either...anyway, Primary an Secondary powersets (as someone mentioned earlier) cannot be changed but early enough you can see they aren't for you and re-roll.
What I expect from patron powers:
Balanced. Never Nerfed. Ever. Unless they give us a respec option for them.
Complete divulging of all information regarding them. This includes hard numbers about damage, cost, enhanceability, "cast" time, etc.
Videos of every power being used so we can see the animations before choosing, because frankly, some people wanna look good while being bad. -
Some random thoughts,questions,ideas:
A non-arachnos patron would be very nice.
Will every ounce of information about these powers be divulged upon their introduction? If they're gonna be permanent we deserve that.
How will testing on TR go for this? Will there be level bumps so that the higher end powers can be thoroughly tested?
How many powers are Patrons offering? 4? 6? 8?
Will badges be awarded for completing the trials or for actually choosing the patron? Just wondering if us badge junkies can get the other patron badges beyond our chosen patron's by doing the other trials with other people.
Couldn't those of us concerned about the patron powers just level to 50 and not train 41-50 until we hear more about these powers? -
Umm..wow...Lord Recluse, Alexa, Arctic...guys are droppin like flies...
either this is good news as in "Hey lets hire some of those folks away from CoH/V because they're doing such an awesome job." or its something bad that we don't know about and they're running like red names from a sinking ship...
either way bye Alexa an Arctic and have fun an make lots of money and come say hi from time to time. -

Doc Buzsaw- Requires Bling Badge: 1,000,000 Influence.
I got the badge at Level 30... lol, and the contact won't talk to me past level 29...
[/ QUOTE ]
Well if you'd just die more, thereby having to play longer to get a max level character, thereby paying for atleast one more month...then you'd get to see it...
Of course then you've gotta pay just to find out about the hidden contacts from Statesman....or just wait til one person buys the guide and types it into a website so we can enjoy it for free...hope states gets paid on a per-copy-sold basis...he won't be getting much then... -
I don't personally like hidden content.
Especially in an MMO (this is the only one I've heard of that strives to hide content from people) you'd think considering the amount of work they have to put into creating the badges an tracking them and then creating the contact and their missions and linking all this to the badges....you'd think they'd actually WANT alotta people to find them.
I don't think I'd be against hidden content so much if it didn't require so much work to create that is taking away time from the "out in the open" content and delaying said content.
And if it doesn't take much time/effort to make this hidden content then why are we going on 4+ months since CoV without even seeing Issue 7 on test? Why can't we have a CoH update with if nothing else some lvl 50 contacts if just creating contacts and missions is so easy that making hidden stuff doesn't take away from the non-hidden stuff... -
They did this to me too. get used to it because people either defend them (the devs/GMs) or say tough luck.
I was in binder of the beasts for the duration and had to leave before the last mission for a few minutes, logged back in and team had just taken down infernal I believe. we got the glowies and got Baht'zul then I was the only one without the reward because I was "only" in there 53% of the time. If you're in a mission over half the time you should get the badge, this percentage crap with 70% is ludicrous, basically you take a 5 minute bathroom break and you've wasted several hours.
And they don't bother to check if you've been in 70% of the TF just the last mission.
This means anyone can just log off then come back near the end and get the reward. Which isn't fair at all but that seems to be their excuse for this system.
I also got blocked out of the server due to a login server problem, for about 10 minutes after getting mapservered, during the Burkholder TF. Got back in (was entering final mission door when Mapservered) and hit lag then got mission complete and no badge. Was with the group the whole time too...oh well.
Basically the known issues are unknown to most people, so if you do a badge mission or tf whose badge is bugged, most likely it's not listed in Known issues, even if it is a known issue. Being labeled as such means you don't get the badge for the mission/tf regardless, had this happen on that Bat'zul tf the first time I tried it along with the Mask Maker badge mission...
Basically you live a rather cursed existence if you are a badge collector in this game. Get used to it. I canceled my account til I7 since badges are such a hassle there's not much else for me to do unless I wanna PvP constantly. -
Since it's mostly pre-i2 heroes that have an issue with not having isolator (since they have a very valid excuse) then yeah if they did that the threads would stop. But they won't because they hate datamining...but at the current rate of development on issues sounds like they barely have enough people to keep the game running...
Maybe they should take some of the money they're making off ads like that Creative X-Fi ad on the front page, and use it to hire someone...

The Tutorial is an EVENT, whether you like to believe that or not. Why do I say that? Because just like every other event (like the most recent holiday one), you can skip it and it doesn't adversely affect you in anyway.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope. Until many months after launch it was mandatory. CoV the Tutorial is mandatory. Tutorials are not EVENTs...they're TUTORIALs, aka an introduction to the game and it's mechanics.
There are several MMOs that actually let you go back to the starter area.
[ QUOTE ]
You mentioned about a cure at a hospital for a disease? Well, it was a bad analogy. You made it sound as if they already had a cure. Not that they were working on it. Plus, it doesn't apply because in THIS case, what they were working obviously would have done nothing for you anyway. It wasn't even a cure for YOUR disease, in this case. You just want it to make yourself feel better.
[/ QUOTE ]
It was accurate. They knew they were going to introduce badges, they already had the first Issue or two created by the time CoH launched, it would have taken much more than 2-3 months to create all those badges, debug them, datamine for them, etc. So the cure (badges) was already in existence (development/testing) and was not made public knowledge.
[ QUOTE ]
So... how many? This doesn't even answer the question. I'm willing to bet it's really not that many.
[/ QUOTE ]
If I had named a number instead of mentioning atleast two of the extremely likely scenarios you'd have said my number was wrong or over exaggerated so really no matter what I said in this instance I'd have been wrong. But if you want a number fine. 2000. At the time badges were entered into CoH Cryptics stated/Claimed to have 180,000+ subscribers. If even 10% hung out in the tutorial or teamed with friends in it, that's 2000. But we'll never know because they never bothered to look.
[ QUOTE ]
*flips through his CoH manual*
Nope.. nothing there...
*flips thorugh his CoV manual*
Funny... nothing there eithe
[/ QUOTE ]
Ya know whats really funny? Some people actually have enough sense to read up on a game by reading more than just the manual. Like if they're deciding to buy it they look up stuff online because (duh) they won't have the manual if they haven't bought the game yet. Heck the CoH manual you get with the game (atleast up to mid-last year) doesn't even include levels 41-50! And that was almost a year after launch that it still didn't list that. Manual's are the last place to go for info about MMOs unfortunately.
[ QUOTE ]
You've made an EXTREMELY poor assumption that players will do anymore that that. What percentage of the playbase even uses these forum? Where exactly are you asking them to "go look" for this information if it isn't in the manual or the game? Should a popup be added that FORCES people to come here and look for info on badges? Putting a message in the tutorial explaining badges is probably the best way to go to help prevent people from missing it. If people choose not to read it and act on it, that's their fault.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well my point was that you support putting a popup in the tutorial mentionning badges ...then how many people actually read the popups? If they're so interested in learning everything they can via reading they'll look for info on these forums and online via search engines like google...the same ones that would bother to get isolator are the same ones that would read up on it.
[ QUOTE ]
You are using the costume creator to justify a badge? I'm not even going to go here, because it's just that ridiculous to think about.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why not? Not everyone cares about trenchcoats, just like not everyone cares about isolator. But there are people that simply "must" have a trenchcoat because it completes their character or looks good. Just like there are people that simply "must" have isolator because it completes their collection. And it'd be just as fair to only give a trenchcoat to characters made after X date as it is to only give the option of having isolator to cahracters made after X date, both punish people for being faithful customers.
[ QUOTE ]
No, there weren't, because the badge didn't exist before I2. So datamining at this point is futile and irrelvant.
[/ QUOTE ]
yeah there were. You can't say there weren't. What are the odds that even one person out of nearly 200,000 did beat up 100 isolators? Pretty good. That logic is "EXTREMELY" flawed. That's like saying "Oh there's no way anyone hit 50 before I2 so no point in datamining for late game mission badges...
[ QUOTE ]
For the record, I don't even like the fact that you can exempler down and gain badges that way and hope they remove the ability to do that. It hurts replayability, and it's brought about the nasty little buisness of people "selling" spots on badge missions.
[/ QUOTE ]
yeah because you no there's no replayability in this game since every AT is the same blah blah...if they depend on badges to provide replayability then the game would reallly suck...Oh and you wanna cure that selling a spot on a team crap? Let people flashback. They can go get isolator and go get their old badge missions that they missed because...DUH....there weren't badges when they were going through the missions or they were bugged and being a known issue, they weren't awarded...which is really crooked since people earned them and since the known issues section is NEVER up to date or complete.
That would also increase replayability because people would be able to replay characters they had already gotten to 50 and finish old story arcs or get badge missions they missed...
Ok and lets also stop comparing this to the various event badges.
It's not in any way comparable to the holiday badges aside from the fact you don't HAVE to get it or you COULD miss it. Otherwise it shares nothing in common with those badges.
Not only did they not datamine to award it to those (granted relatively few) people that probably did fulfill the requirements, they also knew badges would be in the game and kept that knowledge to themselves. Just like they knew that the annoyingly difficult and time consuming to acquire badge, Toy Collector, was to have a gladiator attached to it. Again they told no one til after the fact. Had people known they'd get two badges instead of one they would have put in the effort to get it. Just like if people had known they'd get a badge for Infected they'd have put in the effort. By the time the first event badges were added to the game badges in general had been around for months, anyone playing during an event will obviously hear about it, I mean good lord, if you never saw a buncha snowmen walking around every zone you don't deserve the badges :-p So comparing a badge that is inaccessable beyond the tutorial and therefore was not available at all for people who joined prior to badges being added is far from similar to people who start playing in December. Obviously you can't get a badge only available in the Month of Oct, in December...however a badge available for a simple kill task? Restricted to a certain area and from a certain point in time forward? Nope... -
[ QUOTE ]
This is a known bug. According to QA, it's related to having the shivan shard temp power (there might be other things that cause it, too, but this is what they've been able to reproduce).
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok is there a thread thats got all the known issues consolidated onto the first page? Obviously the Known Issues section of the site doesn't list this and many other issues and it's getting harder to keep track of all the bugs. Just don't wanna end up running a TF again and not getting a abdge and being told it's a known issue so you guys aren't rewarding the badge... -
[ QUOTE ]
But as much as I'd like to have a way to earn Isolator for this hero, I can understand and even reluctantly agree to the reasons why it shouldn't be allowed. The 'time travel' or the 'monster' level contaminated ideas that have been suggested here are interesting, but basically what's done should be kept done so that the event badges maintain their value and significance.
[/ QUOTE ]
What defines the term EVENT?
From what I can tell the Events we have in the game are these: Paladin Construction, Fire.
Tutorial is NOT an event. The tutorial is constantly up. Just because you can't re-enter it once you go through doesn't make it an event. Events occur occasionally.
[ QUOTE ]
People whinge about this issue ... if it was implemented, it takes development time away from other things needed (ATs, powersets, bug fixes etc etc etc) ... blah blah blah ... And the halloween event ? and the winterlord event ? and '05 winter event ? and valentines day event ? I don't hear you complaining about those events, the fact they took valuable time away from development of other things ...
[/ QUOTE ]
Not only that but a way to get Isolator for lvl 50 heros would = MORE CONTENT! Since when is that bad?! Even if it's one mission it's more content.
They've even admitted that they never datamined for this badge so if someone DID do the work they aren't getting their reward...I know I took out a good 50+ just from trying out different uses of my powers and teaming with friends that had just gotten the game.
[ QUOTE ]
This was/is a special Event for certain people. You didn't need to know, nor were you required to know it was coming.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's NOT an Event. It's a tutorial zone open to EVERYONE not "certain" people. It's just they didn't implement badges til after many people were already well into the game.
Yes well I hope they severely nerf your toons' classes and powers. That way if you complain about it I can just say: "You didn't need to know, nor were you required to know it was coming."
For collectors and faithful players it's about respect and honor. We signed on and trusted in them from the start to deliver something we'd enjoy. They decided to smack us in the face by creating a badge system and not allowing us a way to get them all. It's like being the owner of a business. Paying everyone 10 bucks when they help you start the business. Then adding a wing onto the building and hiring a bunch of people and paying them twice as much just because they were hired later without raising the pay of the ones that helped you get off the ground.
[ QUOTE ]
Can you get the badge? Yes. You can participate in the event.
[/ QUOTE ]
Only if you're a new character.
[ QUOTE ]
I play a male hero during the Valentine's event and get the Handsome badge. A female companion gets the Beautiful badge. Does that mean we should get the chance to get each other's badges too? Hardly
[/ QUOTE ]
....IT'S THE SAME BADGE! It has a different name based on what character has it. Just like in CoH the DVD badge is VIP and in CoV it's Destined One...SAME BADGE...Different name.
[ QUOTE ]
Then all we'd end up with is City Of Clones. What fun would that be?
[/ QUOTE ]
Go put 20 Stone/Stone tanks side by side...we ARE City of Clones...by the very nature of some powers being better for more situations than others. And we're still capable of being City of Clones if you put everyone who is a badge hound and signed on before isolator next to each other.
[ QUOTE ]
Now lets say its a year later, and your 19 now and uneligible to enter. Well, it just so happens that THIS year, they have a new sponsor who offers up a nice million dollar prize. Does that mean that just because you put up the effort in last years race, when there WAS no prize, that you should be retroactively awarded a million dollars?
[/ QUOTE ]
Let's put it this way: If you had to lose a limb to some disease then a month later you find out the hospital could have cured you but didn't and never mentioned the cure would be available would you sue them?
[ QUOTE ]
Even if the new prize was all of fifty dollars, or heck five dollars - prior winners wouldhave NO right to insist on having a payment made to THEM, too.
[/ QUOTE ]
That race thing doesn't work because the race is itself an event. It's not everyday and not just anyone could race in it. Every hero goes through the tutorial, for awhile we HAD to. And plus its not even a "win" or "lose" situation. "winning" the race is more akin to making it through the tutorial than beating 100 contaminated. More like there's a badge just for participating, not even a badge, a sticker. If next year I walked in and said "could I have a sticker since I participated in the race last year?" Would they say "No it's not fair to the contestants this year and for every year after this..." Nope. It's a stupid sticker they'd just gimme one.
[ QUOTE ]
If you're going to say "devoted badge-hunters should always have a chance at every badge", well, it cuts both ways. Late joiners should have every bit of a chance at earlier badges, as early-joiners should have at LATER badges.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd go for this. Each year instead of wasting time trying to create an entirely new event just add a little something to the old events. Halloween? repeat the doors and add portal missions to that dimension to take down some Zombie Mage Elite Boss who is sending these critters to the doors...Winter? Leave the random Winterlord spawns then have a door mission that goes after the Winterlord...this way peopl can still get badges and they don't have to spend as much time coming up with something really new.
Then again Event badges are actual events and for a certain reason, no one expects to be able to get something related to Halloween events in April...but something related to just starting a new character...
[ QUOTE ]
And I say, the value of the relevant badges will be destroyed
[/ QUOTE ]
What value does isolator have? It's not hard to get and everyone can get it except people that had faith enough to get the game at launch. It's not even the badge for me nearly as much as it's the principle. By not providing someway for people to get isolator or by not just giving it to all the characters made before I2 they're pretty much saying: "Hey your payoff for joining us at launch and putting up with those early bugs and nerfs and crap is that you don't get something you very well could have earned that we never even bothered to check to see if people did earn."
With Event badges you HAVE an opportunity. You can log in or sign up and grab it. You HAVE knowledge of them coming or atleast an event that may yield badges. They didn't even tell us there would BE badges...
[ QUOTE ]
Principle.
Seriously - once again, if YOU get to go and acquire a badge that YOU missed out on because of time/date issues ... why shouldn't I be able to do the same thing? Celebrant, Hallow Spirit, Frozen Fury, and similar.
[/ QUOTE ]
Those are special event badges for dates/events that only come once a year. Every second of every day Isolator is available to any character created since I2. Where's the PRINCIPLE of creating badges achievable only by new characters 3 months after the game launches and refusing to devise a way for loyal and faithful customers with you at the beginning to get said badge?
How about if your boss gave an extra day off every year to everyone hired in July 2004 and beyond but not to anyone hired before that?
Where's the Principle there?
[ QUOTE ]
They LIKE the fact that it's nearly impossible for anyone to get every badge,
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually it's far from Impossible. Anyone created prior to Oct 2004 but after I2 can have all the badges.
[ QUOTE ]
The problem is Isolator doesnt fit into special event category of badges in any case. Special event badges are available to anyone present at the time they are implemented no matter the level. Isolator is the only non-PvP badge not attainable after 'outleveling' it.
[/ QUOTE ]
In CoV you're planting the outbreak plague in a completely different neighborhood than the one heros fight it iin...why not just allow heroes to have a level 50 mission something like "Contain Outbreak" Give it to say your first contact that you come back an get at level 40+:
"Nice to see you again Powerhelm. It looks like you've been doing a great job and making a name for yourself, I'm really proud of you.
Remember that Outbreak plague you helped clean up a while back when you first arrived in Paragon? Well there seems to be a new version that was smuggled into Paragon from the Rogue Isles. We need you to go contain the situation. There are already too many contaminated for any of the lower level heros to handle, and honestly I'd just feel more comfortable if a more experienced hero tackled this situation."
I don't mind limited time badges because they aren't arbitrarily created. They don't just make a badge for everyone signing in on April 12th or something. And they tell you about these badges beforehand. Not like Isolator...heck it IS a "tutorial" what better way to introduce people to the badge system in there than by mentioning in one of those screens that they should try fighting a lot of Infected folks to acquire a special badge limited to people going through the tutorial.
[ QUOTE ]
And that is why I specifically said that those who at the time Issue 2 introduced badges ... not everyone who has a 50 today ... just those people out there who were pre-badge who really really wanted the badges. If they had rerolled their toons for the sole purpose of making sure they got every badge, from the time badges became active, then this entire thread would not even be needed.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's not a viable solution now...plus if it took you 3 months just to get to 30 or 40 you wouldn't be as inclined to delete the character. Also your name isn't reserved so if you had a good name you're gambling with losing it. Sometimes I think the whole point of Isolator was to get level 40-50 "collector" types to delete an restart to just consume more time getting back to 50 and thereby paying for more time.
[ QUOTE ]
If I had had a level 50 by the time badges were introduced .... YES, i would have remade my toon in a heartbeat to ensure that I had every single possible badge. Oh wait ... I was level 29 when badges were introduced and I did remake my toon...
My suggestion is about as asinine as asking the devs to hand it over
[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe if you're tune HAD been 50 you wouldn't have rerolled it once it took you hours an hours...those of us that didn't power level to 50 and actually worked for it were far less inclined to do so.
And your suggestion is about as asinine as the devs not awarding the badge to people that actually took out 100 infected pre-I2...
[ QUOTE ]
Nope. There's also "Jail Bird", the COV Tutorial-only badge.
[/ QUOTE ]
Correct. Then again that was there as far back as BETA...not like Issue 7.
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
And noone has said that ALL badges should be available ...
[/ QUOTE ]
If a badge is gettable, it should be gettable by everyone.
[/ QUOTE ]
kafziel's quote.
Did I miss something here?
[/ QUOTE ]
yeah you did...Can you currently aqcuire Celebrant? Cold Warrior? Hallow Spirit? By ANY MEANS? Right now this instant? No. Can you get Isolator right now this instant? Yes. Isolator is a constant badge not a special event.
[ QUOTE ]
Honestly, how many pre-I2 heroes took out 100 contaminated, when doing so does nothing for you?
[/ QUOTE ]
Those who had two or three friends get the game at same time and started together an teamed together...doing each other's missions together and playing around with the Infected an trying new power combos out together....
Or people that just didn't notice the XP bar...
[ QUOTE ]
Should there be a message informing people of it's existance? Sure. That's something I'll get behind. Someone start that post and I'll petition the devs for it right along wth ya.
[/ QUOTE ]
So you'll get behind telling people about it's existance...even though if you bother to read up on CoH before playing it you'll see there are badges and a logical person who is interested in finding badges will seek out a list on their own or ask about it... but you won't get behind providing someway for people who were here before it's existance and before badges were even a rumor to get it?
Here's something for all the people saying don't allow a way to earn isolator or don't datamine for those that may have actually taken out 100 infected: how about this...What if they give Trenchcoats as a costume option only to characters created from tomorrow on...is that fair?
[ QUOTE ]
Giving Isolator to pre-i2 toons isn't going to happen unless the Devs fundamentally change their ideas about how this game is to be played and enjoyed.
[/ QUOTE ]
You mean to tell me the Servers will crash, choas will rein in the streets and hell will freeze over if they provide a way for people created before I2 to get Isolator?
Can I have some of what you're smoking?
[ QUOTE ]
Retroactive rewards: Giving people badge they did not earn would set a precedent for all other badges that people may have missed for whatever reason. There were many, many people who did not have acounts during the different special events we have hosted since badges were introduced. Just as it would not be fair to just hand the badges out to anyone who was not at those events and didn't do the work, it would not be fair to them to give you a badge you did not earn. No way exists currently for you to go back and earn it either. This is unfortunate, but unavoidable at this time. Which brings me to your second point.
[/ QUOTE ]
I would almost be inclined to agree with people in the anti-isolator crowd if they had atleast bothered to datamine for there were a few people I'm SURE earned the isolator badge prior to I2.
[ QUOTE ]
Special instance: Creating an area that is not accessible to all is not a good way to do things
[/ QUOTE ]
So creating a mission for people around before badges is unfair but not allowing people around before badges to get Isolator is....
What about a mission open to all at lvl 50? Some actual content exclusive to 50 would be nice, gives us something to do besides start another tune or pvP... -
The argument against things like making Halloween badges available all the time is that they're special event badges. People knew about badges when these were around and had known for months.
Now if they pull a deal like they did with Toy Collector then I'd be for offering another chance to get them. With Toy Collector it was a pain to get and then they announce it was supposed to have a gladiator with it. Sticking badges on things after the fact is a crooked way to go about adding badges and anytime it's done then I say give everyone another chance at it.
If I'd known X was worth a badge I'd have done it while it was an option.
The key difference is that it was impossible for anyone that actually got the game at launch or within like a month of launch, to get the isolator badge, which is STILL available, and always will be. When badges went live anyone created prior to the Isolator should have been given it. Hell they should have just made it a badge for completeing the Tutorial. Since the tutorial isn't mandatory...
That's what I say make isolator a tutorial completion badge. There. Problem solved. Award it to anyone that went through the tutorial and to every character created before the Tutorial was made optional.
I'd have spent the time had it existed so it'd be nice to not miss out on the badge because I came in too soon.
And someone made a McDonalds cheeseburger analogy a while back. The Difference between getting burgers and suddenly getting cheeseburgers and getting or not getting Isolator is this:
Even after I leave McDonalds I can come back anytime an get those Cheeseburgers. I can't go back anytime an get isolator. Not like once they started serving Cheeseburgers McDonalds started blocking people who came in before that from returning...
And the tutoiral should also mention there is a badge for doing it.
Like I say though give Isolator for completeing tutorial and you solve a ton of problems. I mean in CoV the badge is a freakin Explore badge...thats insanely easy to get...but you also can't skip the tutorial for CoV... -
[ QUOTE ]
As far as I know - the devs have no plans for including an alternate method to get isolator if you did not get it in outbreak.
[/ QUOTE ]
In other words:
If you were with us from the beginning and put your faith in us at launch this is our way of saying you're SOL. For those of you that didn't have faith in us and hesitated til badges were created, you're in luck.
Thanks guys... -

Having trainers in Pocket D makes absolutely no sense. Pocket D is a 'time off from work' area. Why on earth would official trainers be -working- there? That's just silly.

Totally agree...which is why we have missions in there and two portals and a buncha other doors and.....oooh....nevermind...
I'm just tired of lame excuses for why things can't or aren't done. Such as having a trainer wouldn't make story sense or there's no one that could train both sides and make sense (Except for Malaise though people forget him) does it make story sense that a guy who's invulnerable can't piss off more than 5 people at a time?? Or that a guy who can unleash massive power can only hurt up to 16 people at a time even if 80 are clustered around him? -
Wait they're making them tougher.
So if they make them toughter would that HP that ='s 25% of their total now be the same as the reduced percentage later? We'd still have to do the same amount of damage or close to it.
let me explain that better:
Let's say Kraken has 100 HP. 25% of that is 25 HP.
Now lets say in I7 Kraken gets tougher and becomes 250HP. 10% is still 25HP...
It would be nice to hear just how much tougher they plan on making them. And how they intend on handling it for people with odd play hours who might not be able to find these large groups that will soon be required to defeat them... -
could Kraken's spawn possibly be upgraded to more than once a year? Or could you tell us atleast an approximate number as to how often it spawns?
What about Paladin construction? Could the time be lenghtened? or could you tell us how often construction starts? Once a day? a week?
These two in particular (especially the kraken) seem overly rare to nearly the point of myth.
I've played since Launch and I've seen the Kraken in Perez once...numerous characters up to 20 or atleast well into the Perez Park levels, lots of time there....seen kraken once. -

Did someone get their signals crossed on the Website side of things?
Just wondering because it doesn't make sense for the Teaser to come out 2 weeks after the itemized description of what's in the Issue
2 weeks before? Sure. After? uhh..better late than never I guess.
Doesn't mean it's not a nifty lil 2/ or 3 minute read, nice job. Really wish we'd gotten it at like the end of december or something... -
Oddly enough like the first day of the event I logged with my hero and only did it 3 times an got badge.

Actually Cuppa said there were LEGAL issues about the character creator and that those legal issues may be resolved enough now to allow them to create an English version of the character creator standalone.
[/ QUOTE ]
You must have forgottenbefore there were legal issues there were technical issues and before that time issues.
[ QUOTE ]
so when the guy who built the game tells me "it'll be technically hard to do" I'm going to trust his judgement on that.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's like saying that because the guy who owns the store says he doesn't have it that he actually doesn't have it and not that he just doesn't want to be bothered with finding it.
[ QUOTE ]
So how about puting the trainers in the foyers...villains can't go down the hero lift and hero's can't go down the villain lift but according to the map, they are still in-zone...that way each trainer would know they were getting the right games toons?
[/ QUOTE ]
Was suggested almsot immediately after he said there were technical issues. So either he slapped his head and said "D'oh, why didn't we think of that." and is doing it or checking on the viability, or he's ignoring us. Like he ignored 10 pages of tough badge questions in the Badge Questions page -

As i pointed out yesterday and has been pointed out in this thread already, it makes it too easy to find your opponent in PvP zones. At least with global friends the other person has to approve the addition. Server friends don't require that approval. So you could go into Siren's Call, add your bounty to your friends list, then jump/fly/run around clicking the name on your list until it came up in your target window, making it easier for you to find them and kill them.
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
This is relatively minor, but it can be a bigger issue- in other games, people used to check for their /friends on the enemy side and try to stalk them- as a harassing technique. Anyone can add ANYONE to /friend, but global friends require consent, so it's much less exploitable.
[/ QUOTE ]
By this token we shouldn't have server friends at all since we could just find them in any zone and hunt them down an harass them. What about Warburg? Hide the server friends list while there so you can't find people in there??
[ QUOTE ]
Now, it could be that, just by a simple swapping of assets, I made it so the trainer in a villain zone would misidentify the hero, and vice versa. It could be that I started the trainer with a predefined cap, based on assumptions that the AT's wouldn't exceed a certain number. It could be that. It could be that the asset checks for a zone identifier to determine whether it will be a villain or hero trainer, and the lack of zone identity throws this off.

The area before the elevator is hero or villain only. You acn't even enter the other side's "hallway of entrance". So when you see those 3 doors you might as well be in Paragon or Rogue Isles.
Let's not forget they also said there were technical issues for why they couldn't release a stand alone character creator....*looks on Korean CoH info sites*....ummm...yeeaahh...
[ QUOTE ]
Either way, No, the devs should have to waste their time answering in full detail what they're working on.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thats a matter of opinion you're welcome to. My opinion is they could be working with ATI to fix the problems ATI users seem to experience w/ their game or they could be fixing numerous other bugs or they could actually be keeping the Known Issues section updated and thorough or they could be grinding out CoH issue 7 and finishing the polish on CoV Issue 1 (called Issue 7 by them) ...they could have put time into allll of that, instead of creating Pocket D...
[ QUOTE ]
That is something I'm curious about. After the 22nd, is this even going to be an issue?
[/ QUOTE ]
I hope so otherwise I'll be very upset that they wasted time redesigning PDP and making it so intricate just to occasionally plop an event contact in there. Hopefully this will be the beginning of more co-op missions.
Also going back to people talking about issues with a trainer seeing hero or villain an getting mixed up...If a flippin locked box or cauldron can see the difference between a hero and a villain why not a trainer?? -
[ QUOTE ]
It comes down to the simple fact that special events are just that, special. They shouldn't be repeated and you shouldn't have the opportunity to get those badges at a later time. Call it, for lack of a better pun, a badge of honor.
[/ QUOTE ]
....*looks at Cold Warrior badge*...umm...
People might not have bothered spending the hour+ to get Toy Collector because they didn't see it as providing anything beyond a badge and a title and for them content/fun is more important than showing off the size of there...badge list...
It wasn't "fun" getting Toy Collector. It was a mindless grind. And what was the prize for the mindless grind? A badge. That was it. No gladiator no nothing. If the badge was bugged and was supposed to give a Gladiator then they should have said so.
Would you be atleast a little upset if you walked into a grocery store and bought 300 bucks worth of groceries and as you're getting ready to push your cart away you hear the cashier tell the guy behind you, "Sir, since you bought this pack of gum all your groceries are free today."
Same situation as this. If they'd gone for something they didn't really need they would have gotten this nice prize. -
Could we maybe, I dunno, get explanations for when our ideas get shot down?
[ QUOTE ]
There are a couple of exploits that would be associated with this if we let it happen.
[/ QUOTE ]
What would they be?
[ QUOTE ]
We will probably slip in some NPCs who can buyback Enhancements at somepoint, but the trainer issue is a little more difficult from a technical standpoint.
[/ QUOTE ]
How so? People have already given great explanations as to how this could work and they were such obvious solutions that someone who gets paid to think of them should have come up with them long ago...put the trainers in the lobby...if this too is a technical problem then why didn't you note it? And how is it so?
OR even have some Neutral trainer who can train both sides?
We seem to hear a whole lotta "We can't do that for X Y Z vague reasons"
If you're gonna tell us a whole lotta what you can't do then maybe we could hear some of what you CAN do? Some or what you are DOING? -
I gotta admit though that is sorta shady, adding the gladiator after the badge isn't available anymore.
I have Toy Collector on my villain an hero mains so I have no reason to complain about it being handed out but yeah I'm not a fan of all this secret badge stuff then telling people about rewards that were unknown for the most part and/or broken at the time...
