Doesn't GvE give you both anyway? At the same price as some payed for just one of the games...?
I think they should give everyone the GvE special items if they're gicing them access to the two games anyway...
Also, no more Jack Emmert!
Reaction #1:W-Who's gonna be my nemesis now!?
Reaction #2: I WIN! -
Castle can get away with a name like Floyd Grubb because he's awesome....
Video says I-11 Fall 2007...but I think technically doesn't "Fall" last tile like mid-Dec or Mid-Jan? -

Erm Power,
It runs From Monday 22nd -Sunday 4th.
It is a full 2 weeks.
[/ QUOTE ]
touche sir.
But my point is I wish it was longer, more like the entire month of Oct :/ seems like it was longer last year... -
I just wish we got more than barely a week, especially since Jack in Irons was so horribly difficult to find last year...considering how angry people were about that I hope they made him more reasonable this year...

I think it's about time the "Second City" of the U.S., aka Chicago, got some player event loving...

Selection to be included in the closed beta test of Issue 11 is pretty straightforward. We have selected testers who were helpful with previous closed betas and also included accounts who had recently logged into the Training Room.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm not a super fan of this for a few reasons: Previous testers who were just fortunate enough to not encounter bugs (or at least bugs they hadn't already found to be known issues) might seem like they're there just to play and not make it again.
Anyone waiting to be a first time tester would have to waste their game time logging into the test server just to be registered as logging in so they can be added to that list...
It just seems that, considering how many people have beta'd CoH and CoV and so many other MMOs and are very much wanting to beta things like these issues, it seems they're missing out on some of the best people.
Why not get people who log in a lot period...not just PvPers and test server natives...since that's pretty much the only people that are on test with any regularity.
Kinda like punishing skilled people because they don't wanna waste HDD space and time on a server that can (and should) be wiped anytime. -

All the Mods are saying,
is give self-moderation a try.
They'll have to split themselves with moderating the Closed Beta Forums and the regular Forums. And to make sure things are ok here in the regular Forums, all they are asking is for us, the community, to keep it civil and to not just go spamming to pad the thread count.
Personally, I'd like to see that the Mods being able help the Devs with getting feedback from the Closed Beta testers, and therefore getting speedier delivery from Closed to Open testing, than to see them being distracted.
[/ QUOTE ]
I know how to solve all their problems with stretching too thin between forums...let people in the beta post on these boards...
Why do we have closed secretive betas of issues anyway? Well I can understand inviting certain people to assist in the beta even though they probably aren't helping too terribly much aside from bodies in seats as it were.
But yeah no need to hide all the info if nothing else atleast it gives us something to talk about so we don't fight about random other things... -
Leech can you find a quote saying that? I can only recall them ever saying it was a bug/tech issue on their side.

*The author speaks of the green lights on servers* I had assumed that this represented server population, and so I asked if they were having population issues and if they had plans for a server merge. As it turns out, I was wrong. The lights indicate the likelihood of high ping and lag, and has "very little to do with the number of players online"
[/ QUOTE ]
Oook...so the population aka the number of people on the server has no affect on lag or ping? I think we all know that isn't the case...especially the first week or two of a big issue release...or if you have been on while a hami raid or major ship raid was occuring... -
Well first of all I'm against the Purples in principle, it's just taking yet another page out of the standard MMO handbook, would rather they had tried something totally unique or at least more unique...
As for the release as a whole this is a heavily melee centric issue.
Weapon Customization affects more melee toons than any other toon, tanks an scraps have more weapon based powers than any other at...Masterminds? yeah because THEY take those rifle and other such powers so often...to quote Borat, "Not!".
One blaster set gets customization...one non-melee CoH set gets to take advantage of this assuming you didn't take the frankengun APP...
And they get two new powers to boot. Melee should be extremely happy with this issue and everyone else should be very content with the fact that we have FlashbackI'm happy enough for that since I have no toons affected by the other stuff.
-
I'm totally against Purple enhancers...hell, it's hard enough getting the current rare recipes let alone those things...the only good that could come of them is people not wanting the other rares because they wanna get purples.
-
Hammana...hibbidy...ah...eh...uh...that's it!...
I'm buyin you guys a pizza! -
Wow...when we said we didn't want more melee weapon sets I guess they took that to mean single weapons...now I don't think of Claws as weapons, or spines...was hoping we'd get blades more like the literal blades ala Vanguard...not blades as slang for "more swords" because we don't have enough of those already
-
It's very, Brass...and Nemesis-y...and considering he's supposedly found a way to live forever via his automaton skills (infinity symbol?) Could we be seeing that Nemesis Warhorse in action? A resurgence of Nemesis? Leading to the Reichsman's return leading a new 5th when everyone is distracted by Nemesis?
Or it could be as simple as Flashback.... -

A Titan-O is a horrible reward. In my opinion. Even if at level 42 you got a level 45 Titan-O (that's +3 to you), you would outlevel it at level 49 and be forced to discard it. With the xp and other rewards of this tf/trial, you can easily buy a high level multi-aspect IO which won't ever be outleveled.
[/ QUOTE ]
You can respec (which many probably do anyway) between 45-49 and get that Titan-O back and then sell it on the CH for much more than any SO and even more than several rare recipes...
[ QUOTE ]
No "Giant Monsters" here. Just Monsters. They're AV ranked foes. A team of 8 couldn't beat a Giant Monster unless its HPs were severely crippled.
[/ QUOTE ]
You realize this statement isn't accurate right? We've all seen it...hell theres a video of someone soloing Jurrasik on youtube using their powers and some Shivans...
There are still tons of bugs and QoL issues that people have been complaining about for months, years in some cases. I'd die of happiness if they gave us revamped old content and QoL/Bug fixes as an entire issues in and of itself...especially after I-11 since we'll have 2 new (if mediocre) powersets to toy with... -
How bout giving us that bloody lvl 40 Titan-O? It'll sell for more than a regular lvl 50 SO AND since most lvl 40+ are in IOs SOs do us no good...and since we can't choose our recipes it's not like we can be promised a good rare...as there are plenty really crappy rares...

Suggestions: Remove generic Portals and have our SG leader pick a "type of door" (Building, sewer, etc) and have the system randomly choose something (perhaps near est points to trams...) and have that appear on every SG member's and SG member's teammates (and coalitions) maps as the base for the SG...
Increase the cost of functional base items, make decorative items free and increase costs for rooms and maybe add costs for moving/changing rooms/room size and then remove upkeep costs...
NPCs to be hired and paid weekly or monthly...decorative but perhaps a doctor that increases health when you goto base hospital, etc Humans that can function in roles like those held by the base machines that we have now, maybe with certain perks like a lower per cost deal on buying temp enhancers from a human instead of a machine. -
Oddly enough I always get them whenever "They" start advertising free 14 day trials, long before I-9 I was getting them, everytime they advertise a 14 day free trial I get them.
Perhaps they could do something like this:
The trials that are given out by current subscribers (the ones we can go get generated for a friend) have full access to the game.
Ones given away on MMORPG and such have limited access. No trading, no tells (or maybe a restriction on number of tells per minute), and such.
Basically MMORPG is the reason we're getting these since only when they've had these things through MMORPG.com have I gotten spam... -
Is there really anything to discuss? it's a 14 day free trial
pretty standard an common practice for CoH and every MMO...I don't think we need a thread to announce or discuss them everytime they're given out :/

[ QUOTE ]
If someone has a level 1 character with a name that they're camping, they have to keep -paying- for the right to use that name.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ummm...no...they just have to log in for an hour or two and get into a sewer team during the free account reactivation weekend and level their toon to level 7...then they can leave once more and never have to pay...not to ignore the fact that I stated in my previous post, that being that any decent names will probably be taken by players with enough drive to at least play them a couple hours an get them above the level notch for name taking...
Quality not quantity Cryptic...
Like I said what's the point of a level 6 name change policy especially when you announce it and then give a free weekend to everyone that ever created an account giving name squatters a free chance to level their toon to level 6+ and save that name (apparently) indefinitly... -
Ok here's the beauty thing:
Inactive accounts that have been inactive for 90 days will have lvl 5 and under character names freed up...
A couple days later they reactivate everyone's account that was inactive...(hopefully this reactivation doesn't count toward their "inactive" status for names otherwise they'll have to keep this policy in affect for 60 days after the 29th for it to even matter...
So they announce that a very low level cap is going to be made for names to be freed up (lvl 6) ...
And then they open up ALL inactive accounts essentially giving everyone who had a 5 and under an never bothered to raise them, and who probably would NEVER have paid to open their accounts back up to raise them beyond 5, a free chance to sign in for an hour and raise their toons that additional easy few levels.
That pretty much totally screws up the environment from which they determined this low level cap and seals up more names...
Like I said before a level 20 or even level 14 cap would have been a hundred times better.
Also not only should you think about the name but the quality of the name...who gives a damn if thousands of names like "Teh R0ckstar" "<*Mid-night*>" and "J00 Cant Kil Meh" are freed up?
Chances are people that at the time gave a darn when they named their characters a decent, desirable name, probably got that character up to AT LEAST level 10... -
Ok...level 6? Seriously...you get to level 6 in like 3 hours of play (and that's if you're trying not to level
)...why even bother doing this?
This is a waste of time. Anything like this should be done, for a minimum, starting at level 20. Level 35 may have been a bit too high but level 6 is far, far, too low to really matter. -
Ok. Let us begin with the basics:
What and where is RWZ?
RWZ = Rikti War Zone. It is what was formerly the RCS or Rikti Crash Site.
The "normal" entrance in Crey's Folly was sealed up for obvious safety reasons. There are several ways to reach it though:
For heroes:
Atlas Park
Peregrine Island
Founder's Falls
For villains:
Cap au Diable
St. Martial
Grandville
Both heroes and villains can also access the area from a base teleporter.
How to bring down the shields
Bringing down that old mothership's shields is relatively easy. Take out the pylons surrounding it (all 18) and the shields will drop. I've seen as few as 3 8 man teams accomplish this without much effort.
I suggest a good tough tank for each team. Let the tank stand on the opposite side of the pylon from the rest of the team and draw aggro. Pylon's do a decent amount of damage and it's explosive AoE style damage so staying away from the tank if you're a squishy is a must.
Once the pylons fall
This is where things get tricky. Lots of Rikti will appear on the outer hull of the mothership (all level 54). You're gonna want 4 or so teams kinda spread out along the hull to take out these guys as much as possible.
At this point determining everyone's motivation is a must. If they're just there to plant bombs or fight the GM you can get that out of the way rather quickly. Charge the grates and plant the bombs. One sticky spot though is the fact that, when the grates go boom, more Rikti respond...
Planting bombs will buy you more time before the shields would normally return in addition to eventually summoning the GM (U'kon Grai aka "You Con Gray"). What this means is you have more chances to get merits!
A good haul on a Rikti Mothership raid will net you around 200 merits give or take 25 merits...
Any Rikti that you do even 1 HP of damage to while on the ship hull gives you a merit upon death. Making Mothership raids a fun an easy merit method! -
Pretty disappointing really.
I'm pretty sad that, something of the magnitude of a Rikti return didn't get a cinematic video such as the Asian Launch or CoV did...
Granted it's "just" another issue but really...if it weren't for the Rikti's first invasion none of us would be here because they killed thousands of heroes the first time around...
Their invasion is the entire basis for the story of CoH and large parts of that story are influenced slightly or heavily by that 1st invasion.
This event deserved a cinematic...
