Angel,
The majority of folks in this thread have honestly been trying to help and have given some excellent advice. Follow it and see where it goes, especially the Virtue channels offered above. As for the less-than-helpful stuff, pass them by.
Virtue is a great server and has a great amount of folks to help you out.
For my own part, I can honestly say "Don't ask me" as I'm mostly a soloer, though not a day goes by when I don't get a "Want to join a Lvl x team?" I politely respond with a 'no' but once in a while I'll say 'yes'.
Don't give up, hang in there, and pack lots of inspirations! -
Quote:Lasers not needed here, mate, age or otherwise. :-)May I ask what exactly an Old Timer's Gathering is?
Do I qualify? Do I have to be old?
IGOR! GET ME THE AGE LASER!
The Old Timer's Gathering came from an accidental meet-up between myself, Ascendant and Moggie (in her alt form of Gamer's Widow). We started chatting, found the local party a bit loud (i.e., everyone else's chat was overscrolling ours) so we headed to the original gathering point of RPers; Gemnii Park. Next thing we knew, there were around 50-75 people all chatting about old times and all the cool RP. Since then, we've been meeting up informally about twice a month just for the heck of it.
There are no qualifications except to come out and have fun. All we do is hang around, chat and relax. No pressure; you can participate, or not, as your comfort level decides. We'd be glad to see you. -
Bumped for the Dec. 3 gathering as mentioned in the OP. Looking forward to folks making it!

For those that celebrate Thanksgiving at this time of year, enjoy your turkey and have a good time!
-
Oh great; Santa gets to deal with Reindeer with intestinal issues.

Account stuff fixed!
Kids; make sure you change your password every 60 days! Yepyep! -
Moggie informed me that today (Friday) is her birthday!
So I'm wishing her a HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOGGIE!
And here's one from the SCA: (sung to the tune of The Volga Boatman)
Happy Birthday! <thud!> Happy Birthday! <thud!>
1. Now you've aged another year
Now you know that Death is near
Happy Birthday! <thud!> Happy Birthday! <thud!> -
No, we're not cloning Nurse White. Flea would have a bigger migraine than usual. :-)
Seriously, I forgot to post about this week's OTG, so I'm going to post for two separate get-togethers and bump it as necessary.
#1
When: Saturday, November 20, 2010
Time: 6:00pm Pacific time (or thereabouts)
Where: Gemnii Park
Usual stuff, usual RP
#2
When: Saturday, December 3, 2010
Time: 6:00pm Pacific Time

Theme: Winter (NOT Christmas; we can do that at a later date)
Shame we can't do blinking red noses...yet. -
Though the day is nearly done and I'm just now checking the boards, I'll also say Thanks to all the vets out there. Though we don't always agree with the conflicts, we apprecaite your hard work and sacrifice.

My sincerest and deepest apologies (Or as The Grinch said, "I'm...sorry.") to those who showed up and saw no one there. It looks like that in the future, we'll have to have a substitute place in case of raids, invasions, etc. I got there about 7pm myself and hung out for a half hour and it started raining Rikti. Found out from Rose that she and a few others had moved to Pocket D. Bad enough to deal with Halloween madness, then we get Rikti right after that and in what, a couple of weeks, we're gonna get Winter stuff, too? C'mon Devs!
I swear, I'm gonna have to start an SG just for this group. Something to discuss next go-round. -
I had a hard time following "V for Vendetta" even with closed captioning; and I knew what Guy Fawkes Day was all about thanks to a previous wife who was from Britain. Still..."V for Vendetta" was weird.
Sadly, a lot of holidays have become more and more commercialistic in the last several years. Christmas stuff was appearing in August at one upscale store back in the 80s, and other stores have been catching on slowly.
Fortunately, it won't be commercial for those of us who gather in Gemnii Park. ;-) -
What: Old Timer's Gathering
When: Saturday, November 6, 2010 @ 6:00pm PST
Where: Gemnii Park
Why: Why not?
Since November 5 is Guy Fawkes Day in England, I thought it would be a good day to commemorate it as a theme for Old Timer's Gathering.
If you've seen V for Vendetta, you'll have a general idea of what it's about. If not, here's the Wiki article that tells the whole sordid story.
And even if you don't dress appropriately, no worries; just come on by and hang out with us. -
Boo, ye scabrous dogs!
*ogles Vexxa's avatar...drools* -
Thanks to everyone for showing up. It was great. Never fear, we'll have monthly themes of some sort. Not sure about November yet. Maybe having everyone dress up as turkeys? No no no...too obvious...pilgrims....hmm, too cliche'...We'll think of something!
-
No problem HH. We'll commiserate for ya.

I was going to post a link to YouTube that showed the opening credits to The Addams Family, but it was pretty bad, so here's the lyrics instead:
They're creepy and they're kooky,
Mysterious and spooky,
They're all together ooky,
The Addams Family.
Their house is a museum
Where people come to see 'em
They really are a scream
The Addams Family.
(Neat)
(Sweet)
(Petite)
So get a witches shawl on
A broomstick you can crawl on
We're gonna pay a call on
The Addams Family. -
I have to say that it's been a long time since I've seen any kind of story stuff here and a competition may just get the ol' creative juices going here again. It really hasn't been that long, but I do remember when character backstories were the norm not oddball out. So let's see them, let's see stories about the game we love to play. :-)
Good luck to you all! -
What: Old Timer's Gathering
When: October 23, 2010 @ 6:00pm Pacific Time
Where: Gemnii Park
Why: To just hang out and relax.
I was trying to think of a theme for this, but came up with so many things, so wear something that's spooky or frightfully fun or even something that makes you giggle.
See ya there! -
For those that couldn't make it or were late, no worries. :-)
Fey; I was already thinking some kind of Halloween thing. Lemme think on it and see if I can come up with something a bit more specific. -
Thanks for showing all! It was fun and nice meeting up with folks in new toons.

Found her. The coordinates are 264.1, 48.1, 3392.0 (I put in the commas to separate the numbers better)

Thanks Rose!
Some people like to read books. Others like to build with cgi blocks. Whatever works. :-)
Fey; he's one of my fave artists too! -
And of course, no thread would be complete without Star Trekkin'!
