Quote:So, I read the new announcement about I17, Dark Mirror. Mostly really cool stuff. But, I did notice that with it, people will gain the ability to create "EPIC" archetypes after only reaching level 20. Even before AE and the power-leveling madness that ensued, it was not hard at ALL to reach 20 in a single day. But 50 on the other hand took some work. Especially the 40's range, which anyone who was around then will attest to, was the hardest leveling stretch in the game. BUT, we persevered. We worked. We toiled. And after all of this, we were rewarded with the fruits of our labor, EPIC archetypes. A symbol of persistence and patience. Simply walking across the street on your Warshade or Peacebringer demanded authority. Anyone who saw you knew what it took for you to get where you are.
And now, that SAME reward will be given to someone who very well just got the game, got hooked up with a team for some fast xp, and hits 20 day 1, and makes a kheldian. I'm sorry, but what exactly is epic about that? I mean, they're called EPIC archetypes for a reason. It's supposed to mean something. Not just handed out on a whim, because some newbie is whining that its too hard to get to 50.... What's next? Start giving out 2 year vet rewards after a month of play? Maybe make a booster pack for $9.99 that sells vet rewards early.... hey, anything for more money right? Who cares about the people who actually EARNED the rewards...
So, I'm expecting that since the glory and honor of our efforts is being flushed down the toilet, there is going to be some sort of substantial new bonus for those who have reached the pinnacle of effort in the game, correct? It is a real shame that something as great and wonderful as most of Issue 17 appears to be has to be ruined by such a foolishly stupid decision to include this in it.
I hope this post will be taken seriously, and not just a hate bashing note. I'm just fed up with decisions like this being made in games that seems to take no regard to the veteran players and their efforts. So many MMO's have been nerfed to suit new players who saw the "cool" stuff and wanted it, but weren't willing to put forth the effort, so the developers bowed to their wills, and suddenly, it looses all its lustre, because its no longer something special. Probably the best example in the history of stupid developer decisions being the Combat Upgrade system that Sony implemented in Star Wars Galaxies. And I am quite certain any pre-CU swg player is agreeing right now. They took the rewards that veterans had, and either gave them away like candy, or got rid of them entirely (along with screwing up an awesome game, but that's another issue). And what happened? Most of the vets left, and you're left with the people who are after a quick buck, and don't care who they step on to get it. Quality communities are built through a mutual respect. Loose the respect, you loose the people who make the game what it is. I like this game, and I care enough that I don't want that to happen. I only hope I'm not alone in that.

Are you freaking serious?

Having looked at the Powersets for them, I really don't see the fuss. I wont be making any, for the simple reason, I have too many toons already (2 Redside and around 4 Blueside - not many by most standards I know)and want to get a select few of them up to 50 at some point in my life. Not for the 'I got to fifty now I get goodies' but because that's all the achievement I'd need. Maybe I just take a more casual approach to this game, dont get me wrong I love it and would play all day everyday if I could, but when things like this happen, I couldn't give a monkeys left nad! Even if I had worked for a fifty to get the chance to roll a Warshade and they announced it on the day I stepped into game with her, I would laugh for a long time and get over it completely.

Everyone I know who downloads EU side has to use a reccommend retailer. The site never works. One of my friends got a copy from there, but it didn't work, he had to spend two days chasing support, who eventually advised him to just re-download it. It should be recorded on our NCsoft accounts if we've purchased a copy of GR (pending delivery w/e) so we have the data, but I'm pretty sure it won't if another retailer is used!
So, to re-iterate...
-
And seeing as their site never works, looks like I wont get Dual Pistols until July now

Quote:No. I dont't think it's bad. I don't really care. However, If I play one and it's absolutely spewing awesomeness, then I may change my mind..as for seeing what WoW did.....Bah. If you think the EAT unlock going down to level 20 is bad (dumbing things down, making it pointless to bother with getting to 50, spitting in the eye of vets, whatever) you should go see what they've done over in WoW.
I'd sooner spoon out my eyes and feed them to the birds! -

Gah! Why is everyone crying about VEAT/HEATS getting lowered? Seriously?
Hi Vexxabpphantom, how's ya?
*grabs a coffee, rolls a cigarette and sits down on the couch with his feet on the table* -
OMG please everyone stop QQing about VEAT/HEATS! So they lowered the level prerequisite? So ffff what? I've only got a toon at 30 as my highest. I haven't even thought about Warshade's etc...and to be prefectly fff honest, I don't give a toss about 'em! I look at their powersets and think "meh, sounds OK" I really couldn't care. The one thing that annoys me the most about this game (not the lack of info, not waiting another 6months for GR) but the players who ***** and whine cos their little elite club is now getting pulled apart!
To all the level 50's out there: Congratualtions, well done, I bet it took some time, but ultimately...SFW? Go play CO!
Get a grip people, you know something good will come out of it! -
I fail to se where the qeustion lies, and I read it twice?

Welcome!
I play on Defiant and it has a decent population (evenings being the busiest) though have had my fair share of Daytime TF's! I hear Union is "The RP Server", but I find plenty of people to roleplay with on Defiant.
My advice, make a toon on each, see how it goes! -
Yes, Stamina is a must by lvl20! IMO, the earlier the better! Health is also nice! You'll find as you gain levels you will start to hunt for Energy more often without the Fitness Power Pool!
-
Demon Summoning too?
And is this pre-ordering the $29.99 version or the $39.99? -
I heard Onion smells of wee?
I dont want to change to an NA server (anylonger) given that ALL my friends play on EU servers, namely Defiant (see, no need to use excessive capitals.) That and I have happily made Defiant my home.
As for the RP - well if there's a lot of RP on Onion then that dictates there's probably a lot of ERPers, and I am yet to find any on Defiant, so staying put, taverymch! -
Yeah Doms Redside are very good, as well as Masterminds - MM's especially if you like yer RP. I find so much time to RP mid-battle whilst my minions do all the hard work.
Oh and Welcome! -
Best of luck, let me know (here) how it goes!

I 2xslotted Accuracy on TP Foe
I 2xslotted Range on TP Self
I 2xslotted End reduc on TP Friend
Next slot is going on Range in TP self and possibly a 3rd in Accuracy on TP Foe. -
Fair point there
blind teleporting is a one way ticket to becoming one with the inanimate object! I think at least a better starting range to work with and a little less End cost.
-
I have looked into this, you would have to buy a seperate account. I was told by many that "You cannot transfer an EU account to an NE account"
You can however buy NA version and start from scratch that way. I may do this at some point in the future as there isn't enough RP on Defiant! -
Quote:Except that a decent amount of utility is added in being able to shorten the distance you travel, as well as being able to regain endurance on your trip. Your way could have a person radically over-shooting their mark, and without any endurance left to turn around right away.
So when you select a location too far, your Target will go red, as when you selesct to TP out of range now, advising you do not have enough End to travel that far. I think the fact TP has a range within a City map is ridiculous.
I should be able to bring up map, activate Teleport and place a marker anywhere in that city to travel to, eg:Quest Entrance (providing the End I have covers it.)
