Hey WittyLibrarian!I made sure to add the one you added back in, so the links could all be here too as well as your addition!
Also added my Project: Perilous... No thread yet, still working on the promo poster! -
Another example:
Test Server ID: 18899
Live Server ID: 1481
Note: I added a Battle encounter and the Description on Live to accommodate feedback, but otherwise the arc was published exactly with the same file. -
I see a unique Croatoa maps set for purchase in the Ticket Vendor... could be 200, I don't remember. It's possible the map is there, though I agree it's beyond unlikely that the actual debuff fog will be there.

Well, what do you want people to expect going into an arc? Do you want them to expect to be scared or to be trading blows with Odin?
[/ QUOTE ]
...hmmm. Put that way, I think Horror is probably closest. The players themselves won't be expected to be able to cast magic, and while mythology features heavily, there's only one Mythological fight at the very end, and most people won't even have heard of her... -
Does anyone know if the Unique Circle of Thorns maps have the Baphomet summoning map? I'm saving up to purchase it to find out...
-
I just realized something. What do you recommend for Arcs that span multiple genres? I'm wrapping up a "by request" arc that's Magic, Mythology and Horror, with some Drama (though I'm not a big fan of Drama so I'm not sure how much is in it... nobody sleeps with anybody!)
I think when it's published I'll put it under Horror, but it draws heavily on Mythology and Magic, somewhat on Drama. It could just be:
Horror

My New Arc - Neutral (Also: Mythology, Magic)
.... which on the one hand could obscure it from people looking for Mythology, but on the other, it would keep people from listing their arc under EVERY category. -

Please help me improve! -
Oh yeep, this thread brought up another couple of my "what the huh?" points. I never could figure out why my AE burns would toast heck out of everybody but my friend who was standing right next to me.
The other one is clearing out a base, calling the mission in, then being sent RIGHT BACK IN to clear out the next shift, apparently. Like they're on a time-share or something as was suggested here.
I'm not sure how I'll explain those in KIPs, but I tell you, I scent a challenge here... -
So here I am, watching goofy TV and trying to get a head start on next month's Knowledge Is Power tips submission. I'm making up a list of game mechanics for which I'd like a better in-game explanation, and then I think to myself, "Hey self, why don't you check with the other RPers, see what they've been thinking?"
So I'm asking you -- what game mechanic do you find it REALLY hard to RP around? Personally, I don't like the time limit between costume changes -- what, am I having trouble with my zipper? And how come minions can jump like three times as high as me? I wanna buy shoes where they shop...
What gets in your way when you try to RP? -
As another side-note on research regarding "why do people play these games"... I've been following Nick Yee's work since he started. I recommend checking it out
-
I put together a weekly one-panel comic on the woes of the bureaucratic "hero", the Perils of Paula, inspired by the old Hostess ads.
Pick up Episode 3 - I Need a Hero for the Invasion Special Edition -- it's 600% the size! -
I've been working hard at being succinct, so I wanna just chime in with:
1) CuppaJo is frikkin KEEN -- and that's not an honor I throw around lightly. I've been lurking for a while and I've almost never seen anyone maintain that level of consistent friendliness, helpfulness and patience. (And I've also been into these kindsa games since the early MUDs.)
2) The devs here are also way-super-faboo, and I MEAN that. Perhaps the crankier, more misanthropic ones are given private forums to play in, but the devs we hear from not only seem to care what we have to say in public, but they actually release updates with things we WANT!* FOR FREE!! (No, I know, we pay monthly, but you know what I mean.)
3) The CoH community just plain rocks. Aside from the bad apples here and there, as a rule the barrel is helpful and FUN. So folks wanna call this butt-kissing, I call that gripey. As others pointed out we are all people here, and I'm a solid believer in letting people know what you think they're doing right.
So there.
* Note: By "we" I mean myself and others who want them. I know there are tons of things people want for various classes/powersets they haven't gotten, but I've been on both sides of this fence and I can't put the entire 'fault' of "differences of design wants" on devs
