i just read this on the us forums http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showf...Number=3708049

it looks a good idea in practise could help the said problems ?

    [/ QUOTE ]

If we get a good response we may end up with more people than we want in the Hive so it could be something we give a try. Firstly, to give another way in which people can help the raid, rather than be in the hive, and secondly to encourage those heros with holds to take part, who we may need later. Any1 want to volunteer to set up and mangae a tp train?

I will attend if I'm around that day. For what it's worth, I think it's great that you are doing this and I think there's a place for both public and private raids. Xanthus seems to manage public raids quite well on Defiant and given that the private raid didn't succeed either, it's hard to claim they're the definitive answer. I won't deny that a lag free Hamidon raid was enjoyable for a change, but I've also found the crazy 100+ people lagfests quite amusing. For a private raid, lack of controllers and specific powersets can easily become a problem. For a public one, it's lag and people not listening to instructions.

I am also a little saddened if people who have knowledge and experience of Hami raids won't turn up to public raids anymore. It's understandable but it does make us more cliquey as a community.

I would suggest that you also get someone to be the PR leader for the raid. Someone whose sole responsibility is to keep the general public aware of the progress of the raid. Raid leaders always seem to be too busy for it.

I think you have summed up the issues well Idris and agree with your points. I am hoping to have a holding team leader who can stay in Eden until the holding phase and keep everyone in Eden upto date with the progress. Also for them to be forming up holding teams all during the clearing process, to catch those late comers. Anyone up for the task?

  3. I have no problem with doing an earlier date but wanted to give some notice to get as many people time to organise so they can hopefully get an HO.
To be honest it looks like a good job there is plenty of notice, because if a hard core of 40/50 players, who used to do public raids, will not now, in favour of private raids, I am not hopeful this raid will even start.
I am a reluctant poster of this thread in the first place, as I have always turned up to support hami raids in the past, but never intended to try and start 1.
It is only with the lack of raids for the whole community to attend that I decided to post this thread.
My view is that we need events, such as public hami raids, to help keep interest in the game (along with other content for 50s such as the hero equal to recluse strike force), otherwise we risk losing more players from the game. I know in the past the developers have said people leave but even they are now saying the mantra is to give people what they want.

  4. The idea is to limit the numbers around hami, that is why I am asking for leaders of the clearing team, with the plan being that only those teams will be involved in clearing hami.
There is a planned stage for allowing those not involved in clearing to hit Hami for the HO. So that those asked to wait in Eden whilst the clearing is done can come and hit Hami and hopefully get a HO.
Whilst I acknowledge that there are those who may ignore the request to wait in Eden for the chance to hit Hami, hopefully if it is explained that this is an opportunity to get an HO the majority will support the raid.
Also you will see the plan to remove everyone not in the holding and taunt team from Hami during the holding phase.
Hopefully the community will all support this raid, and allow as many people as possible to get a HO.
Obviously if the core of gamers who read the forum and have attended public raids in the past do not attend in favour of private raids then this raid is doomed before it starts.
However, public raids have worked in the past and can again if enough support is provided by the server community.
It is upto the community to decide if they will turn up to make public raids work or stick to private raids. If it is the latter then personally I find it a sad day for me to see and not the community I joined up as a hero to be in. Allowing the small majority who make public raids difficult as a reason not to stage a public raid is certainly allowing the minority to win over what is the decent majority.

  5. Ta for response so far everyone. Please spread the word.
Enervator as clearing team co-ordinating leader then. If 8 to 10 people can nominate themselves to set up and lead the teams supporting Enervator that would be great.
  6. There seems to be a real problem in getting hami raids started on the Union server so thought I would start this post.

As we know taking down hami is a server event and needs the co-operation of many to suceed. I hoping that this post will stimulate enough interest to get another raid of the ground.

I propose a raid on the date & time in the title. Using the methods still commonly used in the USA. PA drops to take aggro. Tanks & scrappers to attack 1 mito. Followed 1 minute later by the blasters & healers. Once cleared the taunt team to take hami aggro. Then every1 gets 1 hit on Hami for the HO enhancement. Every1 but the taunt & holding team leave. Then when hami is held, lower his resistance & attack him from distance, to try and keep log on holding team to a minimum.

Obviously to suceed we need people to turn up and good leaders.

Are there people out there prepared to lead teams to take down hami and try and gather enough people to attend?

As it is a community effort I am proposing several leader positions. If you are prepared to take these up or just attend please sign up to show your interest.

    Mito clearing team
Requires 1 co-ordinating leader to pick target and ensure all members know which the right target is. Should also try to have bubbler in team with dispersion field to help prevent nearby squishies from holds etc.
3 leaders to set up a team of tanks/scrappers each, and ensure they are attacking the target set by the co-ordinating leader.
3 leaders for blasters/khelds to again set up teams and ensure they are attacking the right target. (With single target attacks only, no AOE attacks to be used to avoid aggro from other mito). If no bubbler available will need to look for other Ats to help out with managing mez protection eg empaths, so as an example, it may need to be teams of 6 blasters & 2 empaths. Also these teams to be used to finally defeat hami.
2 healing team leaders to lead healing healing teams during mito clearing.
Taunt leader to set up team.

Co-ordinating hold leader to decide when hami is held and bring in the damaging dealing teams to defeat him. Also to help organise holding teams & buffing teams.
3 or 4 holding team leaders to form up teams for holding stage.
1 or 2 buffing/debuffing team leaders to set up teams to spam buffs on holding teams & debuff hami in final attack phase.

So there are about 17 leader positions need filling.
If you are prepared to take 1 please sign up and say which 1 you will do. In order of fairness they are to go on first come basis.

If you wish to attend and are prepared to pass the word of the hami raid around, but don't want to have a leader slot, please sign up so we can have an idea of interest in the raid. I hope that people such as Babel & Jersey who have manged to gather such good turn outs in the past will agree to help to do so for this raid.

To kick things of I am prepared to lead the PA team. Now its upto you, the rest of server community, to decide if they want another hami raid on the 24/9/06.

  7. I can manage Weds & Friday with Arachnos Girl. I'm also happy to log on at 7pm on Monday & see who is up for it.

Yeah, Air superiority is a great attack, altho' it's not actually a knockdown power

    [/ QUOTE ]
The offical prima guide states that 1 of the effects of air superiority is 100% knockdown. So if it isn't a knockdown power (as well as damaging & suppressing flight) I don't know wot a knockdown power is!
  9. Total agree that hasten for a regen is nice to take early as helps with getting secondary powers back up quicker (as well as attacks).
Those recharges can then be changed to accuracy or used elsewhere.
Also don't know if you have considered taking fly instead of SJ. Replacing cj with air superiority is great as another attack, and more particularly 1 which can knockdown foes stopping them from attacking, wonderful on most bosses I find.
  10. Be good to see you pink.
Afraid another slot has gone to a sg colleagues.
So only room for Pink and 1 more now.
  11. Sorry can no longer make Friday but still able to do Monday.
  12. I would like to sign up for the Friday and Monday runs with Arachnos Girl lvl 50 MM ninja/ff.
  13. As title says planning to do this on 27/8/06. Start time 4.30pm and meeting at Synapse (Skyway).
Currently have a number of people signed up as definite and some as maybe from my SG.
If you are interested in joining this task force please sign up. The first 3 wishing to join will be given places.

  14. Arachnos Girl signing up for both days.
  15. Personally ninja blade for me.

Ninja blade is a slow starter but you have 2 excellent final attacks and I can scrap well in most fights if I want thanks to divine avalanche, which fills in between the big attacks.
  16. I can do either day at the times suggested. Perhaps if Aeonic wishes to do Monday then Tuesday would be good.
Will use Arachnos Girl lvl 50 MM Ninja/FF.

The PA drop is seemingly useless now, check the last attempted raid on defiant, they no longer agro the mitos.

    [/ QUOTE ]
As far as I know I have been on every PA drop team, on Union, doing a Hami raid since last August/September.
I've gone & done a solo drop on Hami and my PA are acting the same under I7 as they have done during every Hami raid I have been on.
I can still fly high enough above Hami to be out of range of his attacks but see my PA land and take aggro from the whole of Hami.
As such I see no reason to change the PA tactics.
(There is, as before, a particular area that is hard to drop on, as the PA tend to want to land on an out cropping of rock).
I may not be available for the next Hami raid but if those in the PA drop team maintain a hight of IIRC approximately 152 they should have no problem.

  18. Ta for the info. hadn't realised that. Another 1 of those highlights like taking down Tyrant & then having Statesman appear to follow me around. By the way according to the combat log I was only doing about 6 hitpoints of damage a go with my blind so I wouldn't want to think wot small percent of his hit points I actually took from him, lol.

    fire/ice tanker

Personally I can see it worth trying the tactic of dropping your ice patch & tp foe onto it with the aim of them sliding about and not being able to do much. Ice patch is the reason for taking ice melee otherwise there are more damaging melee power sets, & I would take another set if you don't take ice patch.

As you will want to keep toons sliding about on your ice patch & not coming of it, don't put any knockback in it. In my PvE ice melee build I have 1 end. red. & 1 rec. red. in ice patch & this works fine. If you want to drop more ice patchs then more recharges can be used but otherwise aren't needed. This will potentially save you 3/4 enhancement slots. I would put 1 end. red. & 1 or 2 accuracy in frost, (though it will be much more useful in PvE than pvp, where it is 1 of the sets more damaging powers if it affects a large group).

If you could free some slots to put some recharge into build up that will assist you to get more out of it & boost your damage from the more damaging powers. It may be that as frozen fist damage is low, by using build up more often to boost the higher damaging powers you end up doing more damage. (Personally I'm not going to try and work out the damage per second difference on that 1, lol).

You should have acrobatics to prevent knockback or you can be knocked of you ice patch which will limit its use. Also tough from the fighting pool is useful for fire tanks to boost s/l damage res. but you will have to decide if it is worth losing any other power to get.

Leadership is a useful power pool in pvp to help with seeing stealthed foes & resist fear/taunt/confuse, but again wot would you give up to take it? Plus the pool is not needed as much if you are going to team with a toon who has the pool.

I can see the potential of this build as part of a team in PvP. As long as you are careful with your use of respecs you can try the different powers in PvE and then respec into your PvP build, having had experience of the fire/ice combination. Hope this helps give you some further ideas.
  21. I would suggest not putting 3 end. red in the armours, the 3rd will not make that much difference. They will be better put as end. reduction in the attacks. Also consider putting recharge in attacks for if you are in granite.

I have an inv./ice melee tanker & agree ice patch at 20 is way to go.
  22. The answer to your control problem is to buy the 150k control room which allows more items to be placed in it and use multiple databases rather than terminals, this will increase your control quite abit, we currently have 5 databases.

Also the good news is I7 is planned for about mid Feb. and the developers have said it will include useful functions in bases which can be afforded by small Sgs.

Paragon Girl lvl 50 Ill./Emp. Controller
  23. The SG I am in has 8 rooms and what I understand is the right equipment needed to undertake raids. The base is continuing to expand at a good rate, although we are now at the stage were expense is getting really serious, ie saving for security 2 square corridor at 3 million.

Given the time it is taking to get bases up and running I am interested to know how many SGs are prepared to actually get an item of power so that they can then be raided and have to replace destroyed equipment? Just losing your generator and computer is going to cost 375k to replace let alone databases, teleports etc

Paragon Girl, lvl 50 Ill./Emp. Controller
  24. As has been said above you will start to rock when you get SOs. I never upgrade difficulty until I get SOs. There are loads of missions at the lower lvls so you will miss some and possibly badges if you lvl to quick.
So has been said you may well not be doing anything wrong, but perhaps expecting to do more than you can manage without SOs. My lvl 28 tanker can easily tank freaks at +2 lvls and I was tanking +4 minions in a respec mission. So just give it time and perhaps turn the difficulty lvl down until you upgrade your enhancements.
