This is going to be a lot of fun - Come willing to enjoy yourselves and run it a few times for all the badges. If you can, bring Ultimates and Team inspirations, Longbow T4s, and support characters - Who knows, maybe we'll be able to pull off a Really Hard Way?
Thanks for getting this going, Shadeknight! I can't wait to see how quickly poor Tyrant is defeated, and with style. -

Fantastic! I'll be there, and I can spot people Ultimates if they're unable to afford them. Thanks for getting this going again, Tiger!

Unfortunately I can't make tonight's run after all. But please add "VirtueUnited" to your chat channel tabs if you're interested in joining Master and Really Hard Way attempts this weekend. I'll be sending tells to those on my friends lists as I see them form up as well. It's going to be a lot of fun.

I'm usually more concerned with who's writing a show than directing it, but in the spots where it matters Community's direction is pretty outstanding. If they were on board during the many thematic episodes it shows they can roll with changes in tone well. Can't say I'm unhappy with this.

Thank you. We'll be running some attempts this Thursday. With luck we'll have the MO badge by this weekend, in time for Blazing Tiger's runs. Keep an eye on Virtue United for Really Hard Way attempts - there'll be some this weekend for sure.

Thanks to everyone who came to the attempt. We earned that Ready to Rumble badge, and the others will be ours soon enough. I'd give it another 2 runs tops before we have Triple Threat.
I have a feeling we could pull off the Hard Way with a little more practice - a few less KOs, a few more inspirations and Tyrant would be taken care of. Maybe stick to taking down 3 Lights at a time, coupled with one Ultimate inspiration to bring us that much closer. Even before the patch fixes the Lights.
The Really Hard Way looks to require stacking buffs and debuffs, which isn't very surprising but a tad disappointing. I'd hoped that with Incarnates we'd gone past the need to require specific archetypes as long as the characters were played well.
See you guys on Thursday for another series of attempts. -
The Devs have released some info regarding the Tyrant fight for those having trouble.
Quote:We're still on for tonight and not going to limit the league size to 16 - but do keep this in mind for future runs, and that taking down the Lights will be more effective in the future. To those that have PMed me, thanks for your interest. We'll be starting at 7pm Pacific but running for a long time - until we've got the badges, or until 9, even 10pm Pacific - or until we're all bored.Hello all,
I hope you're enjoying the Magisterium! I wanted to pop in to clarify some mechanics of the final fight:
1.) Your deaths have no effect on Tyrant at all. He has no mechanics that trigger on player death
2.) There is currently a bug where only 16 players/pets will receive the level shift from destroying Light of the Well. Well be fixing this in an upcoming patch as quickly as possible I checked the fix in as soon as the issue was discovered.
3.) Tyrant does not have a self heal. He does have a self-buff power which consumes his Olympian Guards, killing them, and providing him with bonus ToHit and Smashing Damage for each guard consumed in this way. This has a visual effect which looks a bit like a heal, but is meant instead to connote Powering up off dark energy.
4.) There is no direct negative effect to Being in the hospital. I have seen several people postulate that Tyrant heals or grows in power when people are in the hospital, but the only effect hosping has on him is that youre dead and not DPSing, and therefore his regeneration is healing him better.
I hope this information helps you, and good luck in your endeavours to bring Tyrant down!

Once we've got the Masters we'll work on the Really Hard Way, probably sometime this weekend. See you all then. -
Quote:Let's not sell the efforts of those on beta short, now. There was around the same level of planning and buffs as on live; the people involved in beta were willing to move quickly, avoided lightning strikes, and worked together - all still critical in getting this badge on live. The only thing we weren't stressing was stacking ATs, and we still had a nice selection of buffs and debuffs anyway.Did they ever make this harder to get than it was on beta? Cause on beta, with an entire pug with no planning and no AT stacking this was pretty much a joke to get.
Grats anyways though.
Congratulations again to those who have this on Live. You guys really earned it. -
Wonderful!
Just a head's up for those running their own Master Attempts: If you've got an effects heavy team and are going for "Ready to Rumble" badge by reaching Tyrant within 8 minutes, consider saving Nega-Pendragon for last. His Excalibur patches are heavy enough to cause instance crashes if the team is piled together. If you defeat the others first his Excalibur won't trigger. -
I only like the themes that you describe DC as having, so I generally just stick to those kinds of Trade Paperbacks I can find from both Marvel and DC. I don't care for real world political issues or religion to creep into comics, either, so that's another reason why I'm a bit particular about any titles I will pick up. I stick mostly to media and not comic books, though.
My brother and I have had a conversation going along lately that, at least when it comes to the animated offerings of DC and Marvel, it seems like they've done something of a swap. DC's Young Justice takes place mostly at night with grim, stiff characters who don't enjoy themselves besides offering a one-liner here and there. Contrast that with Marvel's Avengers (the first season - I haven't seen any of the second) and things are always during the day, with brighter heroes and colors, positivity and.. heroes. Young Justice just has angsty guys with superpowers. -
Quote:I can appreciate the frustration, but my experience with Keyes was that there were people willing to do it but not enough leaders willing to risk the weight of a failed trial. Which is understandable, and what we're seeing with Magisterium and other trials during the first few weeks. And there were some who were happy to jump ship for a BAF, it's true. But Pacific evenings were and are prime time for forming just about anything - you've got to be patient for other trials to finish, but 10-15 minutes is enough to get most things off of the ground.Oh come on I remember on virtue pre nerf, people would try to form keyes pickups just to keep loosing players to other people starting baf/lams.
The catch is getting people to run them; waiting around for someone else to form things can lead to a long wait. -
It wouldn't even be accurate if he did that; from his previous posts, he's saying he plays on Virtue. There, we were running Keyes (still do) and still run Underground. He's just trying to use hyperbole to stir up enough forum drama to nerf something he doesn't like. Which would be fine if he wasn't so deceitful about it.

Quote:This deserves to be repeated before it gets lost in the back and forth. Thanks for reporting that, Kragothe; I'll do some testing tonight to see if I can get similar results and report back here.Further Information about the possible level shift bug:
I took a league of 16 on a Mag yesterday and summoned NO PETS at all (No lores, decoys, any pets), we dropped Tyrant fast. I think we took out the lights 3 times before he was defeated. The 16 was 5 controllers, 1 blaster, 4 scrappers, 3 brutes, 2 tanks, and 1 stalker.
On the trial before that I saw my Spectral Terror at +9 but I was not, to me that's a bug. Pets are getting hit with the level shifts and "stealing" it from us.
Soon as I can run more and test this further I will. It DOES need more testing before being called a bug for sure. It does seem like it to me though. -
I was bummed that I missed this yesterday, and I'm still bummed about it today. Looks like a wonderful engaging time - I'll have to catch the next big event you guys throw.

Have an interest in badges, or just interested in getting a successful Magisterium trial? Please join me tomorrow at 7pm Pacific for a series of 4-5 trial runs where we work towards the badges. Please make sure your character is +3, and that you have a high level Lore Pet/Destiny slotted. We may not be successful in all of the runs, but we'll get some important experience and progress towards the Master of Magisterium badge.
Please meet me in Cimerora at 7pm Pacific. Succeed or fail, the trials will go on until we get the badge or until 9pm Pacific. Please come prepared to pay attention and work together - It's best if you're familiar with the trial, but we'll be explaining the tactics and running it several times so that the team can gel together.
If you can, post here with what you're bringing, including their Level and Lore/Destiny. For Lore, Core Cimerorans and Longbow are the best. Destiny seems to benefit most from +Regen Rebirth and Ageless, with Barrier providing damage mitigation against Tyrant's splash attacks. Depending on scheduling issues, there may be other attempts on Wednesday and Thursday as well.
Thanks for the interest! -
I've got to echo Golden Girl here. If I ever got the name "Crusader" on Virtue I'd wind up making an alt, but it would still be an all content character. Yes, even PvP.
Unless I've got a headache, I'm usually doing team content. Running trials, task forces and teams is more fun than running alone. -
If I wasn't away from computers for most of the weekend I'd have congratulated you guys sooner. Way to go on this! I wasn't sure it would be possible on live just yet - glad to see that it is, and done so quickly after release, too.
Hopefully we'll have some people on Virtue joining your ranks soon. -
Way to go! You've seriously outdone most feats in the game so far, and deserve to wear this badge with pride. It takes a league of people who are on their toes, and all it takes is one or two people not taking the effort seriously for this sort of thing to fail - so you ALL did an incredible thing. Again, congratulations!
-
There's some room for error, but being proactive can solve most of those problems. The trial is also pretty new, so we should hold judging it as too hard or too easy for two weeks. Give everyone a chance to try it out and discover if it's too further up beyond Underground/MoM trial difficulty.
And if you're on Virtue, you're welcome to come join my runs. I'll level with you, though - I think I owe my high success rate to playing this in the background. Try it for yourself! -
-
The Trial doesn't require people to have T4s, or even T3s in everything. However, it does require a certain level of teamwork, power, and planning. If you lack a team that can work together, you can offset that with enough additional power - which in this case is asking for people to bring their +3 characters with T4 abilities, particularly Barrier or Rebirth and a T4 Damage Lore Pet.
Ran about 10 of these last night. It was a lot of fun, but we did fail on one league when I didn't give a proper run-down of what to expect during Tyrant's fight. We lost about 3 people per lightning strike, and had someone using Incandescence during the Tyrant phase.. repeatedly, despite instructions to stop in league and tells. Communication of what to expect during the fight against the Well's champion is important. -
So, so, SO this. I usually am nothing but a bag of praise, but this trend needs to stop.
