I can't talk about changes to the core game overall since I've only been around since Going Rogue, but it did change the way I look at both attacks in games ((No auto-attack)) and in minion/pet classes. It'd always been a dream of mine to have my own personal army...and City of Heroes made that a reality. Thank you, CoH!

Quote:Ya know...you joke...Statesman will be in the Freedom Phalanx infirmary, on total life support and quickly slipping away. Suddenly, another Marcus Cole from an entirely different reality comes bursting in, and he hooks Statesman up to a life transference machine...
-
Quote:No, you're misunderstanding. They said whoever they kill off will be taken out. What I am guessing is that Statesman is NOT the ultimate target of "Who will die?", but someone else entirely. This is supposed to make it look like Statesman. He'll be brought back/revealed to have not been dead/some other random event, and then some one ELSE will bite it. That person would be the 'completely removed' element, as opposed to Statesman. If this is the case then the devs are outright lying to us when they say they're replacing Statesman in the game world entirely.
And they're not lying.
The other theory I've heard and could see happening is the return of Hero 1, and him replacing Statesman. -
My wager? This is a feint kill. Statesman won't stay dead the entire arc, and it'll be another major character who bites it at the end.

Here's the problem with writing a story about the player character: Every player character is different. Most people are going to have different idea's or background concepts or stories for their characters, or in the completely opposite direction, not really care at all. The best they could hope to do is create a story based on your actions since the start of the game, assuming you did this mission or ran that task force. It would be very broad, and generic. They simply can not write out a story for every single character. They might be able to create stories based on basic AT, but that'd still take a ton of effort.
On the other hand, you have the in-game characters. You have these people who are important to the world and who have been there for a while. It is far easier to write a story based around set ((I use the term loosely)) cannon and characters, and then write in the character as an important part of that story.
The problem is the entire "Me me me!" attitude. People want to be the central character in CoH, people want to be the most important person, people want to be stronger then Statesman/Lord Recluse/The entire Freedom Phalanx combined, and they want the devs and the game world to acknowledge that. The way I see it, we're all a part of this world. We all have a part to play, we all have something we do. It's not that I don't think we should be important...I just think people need to stop crying out for things to cater to their personal desires so much. -
I'm at the point where I try to not take it to far. It comes to a point when you realize that some people are not going to listen, or even more fun, are going to insist that you are being a troll for stating your opinion on something. If I see things heading in that direction, I just back away. Or even if it is a friendly debate, if I see that it's not going to go anywhere ((No one is going to be swayed either way)) then I will politely step back.

I thought it was at least as good as the first. Not really understanding a lot of the criticisms being leveled at it. The only 'bad' thing about it is that it has more action then the first, but it also had a longer running time. Loved the interplay between Sherlock and Moriarity.

Just as redundant as 'drunken dwarves'.

That trailer got me a lot more excited then the Dark Knight Rises trailer did. Not that the DKR trailer was bad, it was great, it just....didn't impress me in the same way I suppose.

Quote:That's entirely possible. He may have been trying to elict such a response from Psyche, to force her into ANOTHER weakened state, so that Aurora could take over her. And even in the off chance that Psyche comes out alright, she will NOT be mentally alright. She did just kill Malaise after all, even if he did deserve it. It may have just been him playing it for "Heads I win, tails you lose." And even in the off chance that he HAD some how made it out of Pysche's mind alive, he was still in custody, and he'd have a very angry Manticore to deal with, at the least. It was a bit of a Xanatos Gamble, but it seems to have paid off so far.I had a thought about the Malaise issue as well. Sister Psyche didn't kill Malaise, Malaise did. We know that Malaise's death was a foregone conclusion, for Malaise. He didn't go in there thinking he might die, he went in there to go down in a blaze of glory. He and Aurora-Psyche were rending control from Sis. I think there is a distinct chance that Malaise encouraged her to kill him. This was all part of his plan after all.

In that case, sign me up. I wouldn't object to a female mastermind set, or the option to customize current humanoid pets to be female.
-
Eh, this is pointless. We could go back and fourth on it all day. Let's just agree to disagree, and step away.

Quote:I'm not even sure where the subdued crap is coming from. Are people playing a different arc then I am? You hadn't even TOUCHED Malaise yet in the hero arc, just the images of himself he sent at you. And of Aurora. And not trying to kill her? I am pretty sure he even SAYS that, that she was going to die and naughty-Aurora was going to take her place. She was in clear and immediate danger, and she STILL IS, she just eliminated one threat from her mind.I disagree with you.
In this case, Malaise was not only trying to replace Sister Psyche's mind with the evil Aurora one, but also to eradicate the first one, thus killing her. She acted on self defense.
As many pointed out, it was a struggle, the danger was so real that Sister Psyche is still in a coma, so clearly Malaise was not subdued, foiled and forced to start all over again? maybe. But he was still keeping Sister Psyche trapped in her own mind.
No, this was not a case of "I vouch for you, but cross me and I'll kill you." This was a case of "I believed you couldchange. I thought you could be different. I trusted you. You betrayed that trust. You killed Miss. Liberty, and you are trying to kill me and the person who came to save me. You are beyond redemption."
Listen, no one is saying this should be "City of Vigilantes". What is being said is that Psyche was in very mortal peril, and YOU, the PC was as well. Not only that, but had Malaise been allowed to continue his machinations, Psyche's BODY would have put other people, such as her husband, at serious risk. At THAT POINT, Malaise had pushed her over the edge. He had tormented her with visions of her fears, of her memories, and had tried to encase her in her mind ((And you, of course)) making her think that she was nothing more then a mental patient. And this was on TOP of the betrayl, and the murder of Miss Liberty. In my book, she was more then justified, and in a non-vigilante way, of eliminating him entirely from her mind. -
Yup, and I am not even sure how that is in question. Malaise had forced his way into her mind and was intent on killing off not only her and REPLACING her with the evil version of Aurora, thus using her body for whatever evil ends he had in mind, but he was ALSO trying to kill off the person who came to rescue her. At this point she had TRIED to protect Malaise, she had vouched for him and she had believed that he could be a better person. THAT was his 'warning shot', as it were. He had been given a second chance, and proceeded to spit on his biggest champion, Psyche, and then mind-**** her.
About the only people who can argue otherwise are those overly cynical people or the hero-haters who bring up every thing they can find to make the heroes look bad. -
I dunno, the animations didn't do a ton for me. I'll probably still pick it up just to have some fun with it, though.
-
That was what I said, but as my girlfriend pointed out, that might disjoint the noses of people who are fans of the current cast of ghosts.
-
I don't really see Vivien and Violet doing that at this point. Not with Viviens little admitance while she was in childbirth. And considering that there are plans for a season two, I don't see the house exploding either.
My hope? Vivien and Violet come to terms with their deaths, and move on. I expect, however, that Ben will be offed and they'll just spend eternity in Murder House. -
I didn't mind that so much. Now my guess is that Ben will kick it in the last episode.
-
This is a show about an alien time lord traveling around in a time machine disguised like a police box, and you think THAT'S total bollocks?
-
Snow. Nieces. Girlfriend aggro. Random Jehovas Witnesses.
-
Probably not. Rose get's a ton of hate for no @!#$ reason. Much like the person who made that banner didn't like her for being a "Mary Sue". Personally I think she was just ticked off that Rose ended up with the Doctor.
-
I'd remove the melee attacks from primarily ranged minions and give them a low cooldown low damage ranged attack instead.

SPOILERS! YE BE WARNED!!
Still here? They went through the whole process of having Tate 'save' her, make you think she is still alive, and then just blow that out of the water. And why? What point does Violet being dead serve, except to further mess up the minds of Ben and Vivien? Or is that the whole point? Or is he going for some sappy "They can be together forever" crap with Violet and Tate? Don't get me wrong, I like them as a couple, but meh.
I was also hoping they wouldn't do something that obvious. As I said, they went through the whole set up process, and then almost immediately after started making you question it. The first was neglible, her and Vivien being scared out of the car. The second was not so much, with her having not left the house for two weeks to go to school. Normally with a teen like Violet that wouldn't be odd, but this IS Murder House.
In the end I just didn't like that twist, it didn't feel right or good to me. Still enjoying the show though. -
I'm still hoping for a SWAT set. Actually I need to make a few more refinements to my suggestion...I've just been lazy.
