  1. Oh, btw, concerning the "grass dieing". I once went up to Shetland midwinter, where the best light you get for a couple of weeks is zombie-red twilight, and there is lots of grass, it doesn't die.

    I guess it just stops growing.
  2. We don't officially know what ithe issue 13 changes are (we will tonight). However, we do know you will be able to respec, so you don't need to worry about making the wrong decision any more.

    Doesn't unstoppable also drain 90% hp? That's quite a difference to overlook.

    OWTS also has a much shorter base recharge than Unstoppable.


    It would be quite suprising if the set didn't undergo further changes during beta anyway, pretty much every new powerset does.

    In the current build the PvE values for Phalanx Fighting aren't displaying properly, but the +hp in OWTS are displayed correctly, other than that there doesn't appear to be any changes.

    Taunt aura solo? Who else are the mobs going to attack? What are you smoking?!!!!

    How many mobs do you fight solo? 4 at most. Even if you take AAO at face value (I gather it is actually a lot less than that), thats only 40%. Not much, especially on a brute, since it is 40% of base damage, and damage output on a tank isn't critical.

    That is 3 toggles. S/L defense, Mez protection, and E/N protection. You will have, and be running them from level 18.

    I would go through the rest, but you appear to completly miss the point. They are all more expensive to run thier basic defenses than shields. Sure, some have better hp and end recovery powers, but this is where you need to learn to play. You see, there are these things called inspirations. They can give you endurance, or hp, or even increase your defense.

    I still really can't see why you think Shields is a high end cost set.

    Defensively a bit weak, yes. You would expect that with it's damage and team buff.

    I can certainly see that someone who prefers to solo wouldn't like it, so if you had been complaining about that, I would have understood. but high end cost?!!! The very idea is so utterly insane I really can't understand it.

    Given that I was quite low level at the time, I didn't fight many +6 mobs when I first started. I was fighing +1s, where Ice was fine. Nor do I fight +6 mobs now, given that there are no level 56 mobs. Not that it matters, since level difference has no effect on the effectiveness of def sets now.

    Well, given that you are incapable of understanding my post, I guess it's understandable that you find comments like:

    "It is not the intention that all content in the game be soloable"

    and

    "EBs are not designed to be solo content"

    Difficult to comprehend.

    It has a pretty chunky end recovery too, so there is really no reason why you shouldn't be on 100 end when the -60 is applied.

    And is does have +20% max hp as well as the resistance.

    You don't need a badge to unlock the PPD uniforms in issue 13.

    You could create a Shield/Mace tanker, selecting a trunchion or nightstick mace model, and a PPD riot shield model.

    I agree with the other posters. The damage toggle is certainly not a toggle you are going to use all the time. Especially not if you are solo and low on end.

    As for end costs, compare to other tanks:

    Ice: 0.78 End/per sec (without CE), for marginly higher protection from S/L/C/E/N, but with great gaps for Psi and Fire.

    Dark: 0.63 for equivelent levels of protection, but with a weakness for energy, and mez holes.

    Fire: 0.52 for lower levels of protection, with vunerability to psi and cold, and huge mez holes. Gets a good self heal, but that doesn't come end free.

    Invunerability: 0.71, and is only really good against S/L

    Stone: 1.25!!! for about the same level of protection, but added regen. Makes up for it by getting GA.

    WP: 0.84, also high, but gives probably the best all round protection, and has QR (it needs it)

    I could go on, but by your definition, every tanker set (and scrappers, brutes and stalkers) are unplayable.

    I've been playing an Ice Tanker for 4 years. It is far more than just a pile of hp. It sounds like you are one of those people who doesn't understand def, and so dismisses it as useless.

    Not really, tankers don't come really into there own (as in take all th aggro for an 8 man invincible team) until SO levels, but that has pretty much always been the case, and applies to pretty much any set.

    Which is why brutes (who have ltp) slot attacks with end reduction before shields. As I said earlier, doesn't matter on a tanker, since you don't need to keep attacking.

  15. The only reason the Rocket Pack has a 30 day limit is that it was 30 days in the original retail bundle it came with.

    Somehow, I don't think it can be much of a gamebreaking power boost, or much of a moneyspinner, based on the number of people I know or have seen who have actually baught it (which is equal to exactly zero).

    1) You have sufficent strength of defenders in the area

    2) The previous wave has been almost (but not quite) completly wiped out.

    I'm not passionate about Shields, I'm passionate about people not making unfounded declarations that fly in the face of the available facts. Shields certainly have flaws.Excessive end use is not one of them.

    That was never part of the devs design policy.

    However, as it happens, pretty much any AT can solo, with generous use of insps and temp powers, and a Shield tanker, scrapper or brute will find it easier than many ATs to solo, even though thier defences are weaker than others of the same AT.

    Why? That's not what Shield uses. It looks to me like you are ranting without even reading the information available on shields. Basic protection = 2x0.21 end/s toggles, a click, and an auto-power. works out at about 0.25 end/s when slotted. That is less than any other defense set for the same level of protection.

    Also, if you had actually played a tanker, rather than a brute (and these are the tanker forums), you would know that if a tanker runs low on end they can simply stop attacking for a bit. Since their job is to soak damage, rather than do it, it doesn't matter if they stop attacking for a breather. Not really an option for a brutes, they need to rely on blues or detoggle a shield or two. However, since Shield uses less end/s than any other brute set, it is still a good option.

    For the same reason EATs are not more powerful than base ATs. Balance is good for subscriptions, inbalance is bad for subscriptions. Therefore deliberately breaking balance, wether its down to money or having a level 50, will loose subscriptions.

    Subscritions are way way more important to revenue than one any one off sales. You pay around £9 per month subs. A supebooster pack could only be produced about every other month, only brings in £5, and not all players will buy it.

    It appears to be pet targeted, with a 30' radius in the current build. Both upgrades End cost = 45.5.

    It certainly doesn't appear to scale with number of pets affected. IMO that is a very good idea (however, it would probably still charge you for pets that where already upgraded).

    .21 end toggle shield is low. .26 is standard, and in this case you are only running 2 (and a click, which works out at 0.087 end/s when perma) for protection from everything. Most defense sets need 3 or 4 toggles to achieve equal levels of protection. Shields is a low end use set.

    It doesn't "rock" at any level. It still looks rather weak at high level, but there is still plenty of time to decide what is the right level of trade off for the team buffs.

    NO. They didn't. The free jetpack makes that completly invalid. Ouroborus even more so. You don't need to be a die hard player to use a free jetpack.
